Leo's POV

Such a rage filled Leo that it made his head light. Camp Half-Blood was under attack from every type of monster he had encountered and some he hadn't. And they were after him.

But by terrorising everyone, they were making sure they gave him up.

But they loved him.

They wouldn't,

The more humanoid monsters hollered and shrieked. "GIVE US THE SON OF HEPHAESTUS! GIVE HIM UP AND WE BACK OFF!"

Nyssa's face came into veiw. "I would die before betraying my blood." Jake Mason and other children of Hephaestus stood protectivley around their Latino sibling, their eyes blazing with fury and determination. "And you'll have to get through us to!" A voice hollered. Percy, Annabeth, Piper and suprisingly Nico and Clarisse stalked forward, covered in blood, ready for battle. Piper put an arm around the boy she considered her brother never, her blade singing with anticipation of battle. These were his friends.

And gods help whatever messed with them.

He let himself light up, let flames lick his skin, let the grin dominate his face.

"So you wanna play with fire?"

The campers roared their approval and rushed into battle. The clash of weapons, the screams of fallen ran through Leo's veins. He had already lost his mother. They were NOT going to take his FAMILY. The flames blazed brighter than they ever have, consuming him. He was a son of Hephaestus. He would not back down.

Ignoring the cries of his friends, he rushed towards monsters. Caught unawares, most of them lit up. Those who didn't were eradicated by the nearest attacker.

The anguish of campers had been replaced by those of monsters. They burst into gold dust that swirled in the howling wind. At every left and right, he torched creatures that weren't exactly appeasing to the eye. By then Leo had noticed that the groups had been circling a spot in the magical barrier, now being infront of it, he didn't know what to think.

A large plant that looked like a tree of vines grew, encasing something. The vines shifted slightly, revealing a cool, pale face crowned by hair the colour of earth. The blood drained from Leo's face.

Gæa.

Leo's heart pounded. Gæa couldnt here. She should be gone. She should be wiped off the face of the earth. She had destroyed everything. She had killed Leo's mother and she almost destroyed his new family. She was a goddess.

She was a monster.

"But you were the one to set her alight. You never fitted in. You nearly destroyed your 'family'." Gæa's soft tones exhoed through him. All the anger, the rage, the hurt, the pain was like a fuel. He was aware of the others screaming but all he saw was the burning earth goddess who had wrecked his life.

Monsters retreated as dazed campers watches Leo stagger down to them. He felt heavy with the knowledge that Gæa could still come back. He dropped to his knees, finally letting tears pour down his face, in the embrace of his friends and family.

As long as he lived, no one could hurt them.
