I feel the sun on my face. I see trees all around me, the scent of wildflowers on a breeze. It's so beautiful. In this moment, I'm not stranded in space. It's been 97 years since a nuclear apocalypse killed everyone on Earth, leaving the planet simmering in radiation. Fortunately, there were survivors. 12 nations had operational space stations at the time of the bombs. There is now only the Ark, one station forged from the many. We're told the Earth needs another 100 years to become survivable again. Four more space-locked generations, and man can go home, back to the ground. The ground, that's the dream.

This is reality.

Reality sucks.

My cell door opens with a hissing noise and in come two guards.

"Prisoner 318 turn around and face the wall" One of them commands

This is it; I think to my self, they're going to float me.

I turn around and face the wall with my hands down to my sides.one of the guards grabs my wrist and clamps on a metal bracelet looking thing, it pierces into my skin and I wince.

"What is this? What's happening?" I say confused

The guards stay silent as they lead me out into the hallway. I see a bunch of other kids my age being led out of their cells as well, many of them struggling to get free from the guards. I know it's no use trying to get away so I just comply with them and continuing walking where the direct me.

The guard's lead me to what looks like a ship; all of the teens are being strapped into seats. I'm placed beside an unconscious blonde girl. I guess they had to sedate her to get her into the ship.

Once every seat is filled the doors are shut and the ship starts to shake. Screams fills the small metal space, everyone is afraid. Suddenly the shaking stops and it feels like we are all weightless. One boy who I recognize to be Finn aka the space walker unstraps himself and starts to float around the drop ship, two other boys follow suit.

"Get back in your seat, it's not safe" the now conscious Blonde girl shouts at them

I tune out what she's saying and I look at the screen, a message from the chancellor is playing.

"Earth will be a second chance for all of you; you must locate mount weather immediately and get the supplies you need. Your only task is to stay Alive"

The video message cuts out after that and the ship starts to shake again. All three boys go slamming into the wall sending white gas flying out of the pipes. Everyone starts to scream again and I just close my eyes and wait for it all to be over. There is a sudden jolt and I hit my head on the back of my seat

"Listen, no machine hum" the Asian boy behind me says

"That's a first" the boy next to him mutters

Everyone starts to unbuckle themselves and rise to their seats

"The outer door is on the lower level" someone shouts

That sends everyone running down the ladder and over to the giant door at the front of the drop ship.

A boy with slicked back hair and freckles who looks like he is a few years older than everyone here is standing next to the lever that is need to open the door, he goes to pull the lever when the blonde girl who was sitting next to me yells for him to stop. I'm going to start calling her princess because she seems to think she can tell everyone what to do.

"The air could be toxic" she argues with the boy

"If the air is toxic were all dead anyways" he retorts

"Bellamy?" a female voice hesitantly calls out

Everyone turns around to see a girl with long brown hair standing on the ladder she hops off the ladder and runs over to Bellamy.

"You got so big" he says hugging her

"A guards uniform?" she says questions the outfit he's wearing

"Where's your bracelet?" the blonde girl aka Princess says to Bellamy when she notices that he's the only one without a metal cuff on his wrist

"Do you mind I haven't seen my brother in a year" the brunette says to Clarke

"No one has a brother" the boy standing beside me points outs

He's right, on the ark you were only allowed to have one child

"That's Octavia Blake, the girl they found hidden in the floor" My friend Fox who is standing beside me calls out

I immediately know who she is, even though I couldn't talk to very many people when I was in hiding I always heard about all the gossip and Octavia was the biggest story of the year. Her mother kept her hidden under the floor for 16 years with the help of her brother, Bellamy.

This comment angers Octavia, causing her to Lunge at Fox but Bellamy stops her.

"Let's give them something else to remember you by" he says to her

"Like what?" she asks

"Like being the first person on the ground in 100 years"

I want to correct him and say 97 years but I decide to let them have their moment and keep my mouth shut

Bellamy pulls the lever to open up the Drop ship door and we all experience our first breath of fresh air.Bellamy blocks the rest of us from leaving as Octavia steps out of the Drop ship. She jumps on the solid ground and throws her hands up in the air.

"Were back bitches" she shouts in excitement causing everyone to barrel out of the drop ship.

All of us our just trying to take in the fresh air and surroundings but I see princess and Wells, the chancellors son standing next to the drop ship with what looks like a map.

I walk over to them to see what they're doing.

"hi, I'm El-"I go to introduce myself but Wells interrupts me

"I know who you are; you hid from the guard for 3 years, My father always talked about how remarkable it was that you weren't ever caught. Well until now" he explains

"I'm Clarke" Princess says introducing herself

I just nod

"So what are you doing?" I ask her gesturing to the map

"They dropped us on the wrong damn mountain, there's a radiation soaked forest in between us and our next meal" she says with her teeth gritted

"They got a bar in this town? I'll buy you a beer." A boy with goggles says behind us, this causes wells to get angry and shove him.

"Watch it, he's with us" another boy with spikes on the shoulder of his jacket says

"Were just trying to figure out where we are" wells says

"Were on the ground is that not good enough for you?" Bellamy says, joining the argument

I decide that I don't want to be involved in this drama and I walk over to where fox and Sterling are standing.

Fox immediately pulls me into a hug

"I thought I'd never see you again" she says to me

"Well here I am, can't get rid of me that easily" I say chuckling

"Hey sterling" I say when she releases me from the hug

"Hey runner" he says with a wink

"Don't you start calling me that too" I say pushing his shoulder playfully

I notice that Clarke, Finn, Octavia and two other boys are taking off into the forest. I guess it was decided that they would go to mount weather for us. Many people have started gathering wood and were piling it in the center of camp to start a fire.

I saw wells standing by the drop ship and I wandered over to see why he was here and not with Clarke.

"Hey, why didn't you go with them?"

"I hurt my ankle besides Clarke doesn't want me there anyways" he says sorrowfully

"I don't know what you did, but I'm sure she'll forgive you eventually"

"You think so?" he asks

"I know so" a say with a small smile, trying to keep his hopes up

"Let's go see if we can find some fresh water" he says gesturing me into the forest.

After an hour of searching with no luck we decide to head back to camp. While we were searching wells told me about him and I told him a little bit about me, not that there was much to tell, everyone knew about me because I was a fugitive for so long the gossip got around. we returned back to the drop ship and carved into it was a threat towards wells

FIRST SON FIRST TO DYE

Two boys, who everyone was calling Murphy and Mbege were standing behind us.

"You know my father begged for mercy in the airlock chamber when your father floated him" Murphy says to wells with a knife in his hand

"My father didn't make the rules" wells argues

"No but he did enforce them" Mbege points out

Wells just sighs and walks away

"You spelled die wrong genius" I say laughing

"And who might you be gorgeous?" Murphy asks me trying to flirt

"Ella Ricci" I say confidently to him

"You're the runner?" he asks surprised

"Yup" I say popping the 'P'

"You're the girl who killed three guards?" a voice says from behind me causing me to jump slightly

I turn to see Bellamy behind me smirking

"Why do you sound so surprised?" I question him

"Because you don't look like the type of person to violently murder people"

"Well looks can be deceiving" I spit at him, annoyed that because of my looks he assumes I'm sweet and innocent

"You're not really from the guard are you?" Murphy interrupts and asks Bellamy

"No, I'm not. An if you want to stop the guard from coming down you need to take off those bracelets you have on" Bellamy replies

"Why would we do that?" Mbege questions

"Because those bracelets transmit your vitals to the ark and if they know that it's safe down here then they'll come down too and do you really think they'll forgive your crimes or you'll have a better life? Because I think if they come down here we'll go back to being second class citizens and maybe if we're lucky we'll get to pick up their garbage." Bellamy says trying to convince the boys to take the cuffs off.

"What's in it for us?" Murphy asks

"Someone needs to help me run things around here, same offer goes for you sweetheart" Bellamy says to me with a wink before walking away.

Later that night there was a giant fire started in the middle of camp and everyone was sitting around enjoying their new found freedom, many of the delinquents were having there bracelet removed by Murphy and Mbege. Wells had, had enough of it.

"Bellamy you need to stop this" he shouted at him

"Stop this? I'm just getting started" Bellamy said with a smirk

"We need the ark to come down, our people are up there" wells says, still shouting

"My people are already down here, those people locked my people up. We don't need their help were strong enough on our own. You don't have to like this, you can try to stop this, even kill me because down here we can do whatever the hell we want.

And with that everyone started chanting.

I just roll my eyes, stand up and walk over to the edge of camp and sit down against a tree to get some sleep.

I awoke in the morning to the bright sun shining above us. This is the first time in my life I haven't awaked to darkness and the hum of the ark.

"There back" I hear someone shout

I walk over to where everyone is gathered. Clarke, Finn, Monty and an injured Octavia.

"Where's the other guy?" I ask

"Jasper was hit, they took him" Finn replies

"What? Who took him?"

"When the last man from the ground died on the ark he wasn't the last grounder. Which means radiation won't kill us but the grounders will" Clarke says with a scowl on her face

"Octavia are you okay?" Bellamy says when he notices that his sister's leg is bleeding

"Yea I'm fine" she says wincing

"Wells where's your bracelet?" Clarke asks, changing the subject

"Ask him" he replies gesturing to murphy

"How many?" she shouts at murphy

"24 and counting" murphy replies smirking

"You're killing us, life support on the ark is failing and we need our doctors and engineers down here" she preached to the group

"Don't listen to her we can survive on our own, were stronger than she thinks!" Bellamy said to the teens

This caused the group to erupt in cheers and Clarke to roll her eyes and walk into the drop ship with Finn, Monty and wells, I quickly followed behind them.

"Are you going to go look for jasper?" Wells says to Clarke

"We are but you're not" Clarke says to him sassily

"Clarke I know you don't want him to come but no one else is volunteering" Monty pleads with her

"Fine wells you can come but Monty you have to stay here" she commands to him

"Like hell I'm not Jaspers my best friend I need to help find him" he shouts at Clarke

"Your good at engineering, your brains is what is going to keep us alive.so you stay here and find a way to contact the ark and I'll bring back jasper" he says with a small smile

"Ella are you going to come?" wells asks me

"Sure, Finn are you coming?" I ask the cute space walker

"No and I don't think you guys should either" he replies with his arms crossed

"Space walker what a joke you think you're an adventurer but you're really just a coward, jasper looked up to you and you know he would go out to find you" Clarke spits at him

"This isn't an adventure it's a suicide mission" Finn argued back

"Whatever" Clarke scoffs as she walks out of the drop ship, wells and I in pursuit

The three of us approach Bellamy who was standing with his "militia"

"I hear you have a gun?" I ask him

He lifts up his shirt to show the gun he has tucked in his waist band.

"Good come with us" I command

"And why would I do that?" he asks with a smirk

"Because you want them to follow you and right now they think only one of us is scared" I say pointing out the crowd who had started watching us.

"Fine, Murphy come with me, Atom my sister doesn't leave this camp, anyone touches her they answer to me" he commands

We take off into the forest and every once in a while Murphy's hand would graze my ass and I hate to say I didn't do anything to stop it but Clarke did.

"Murphy I don't think Ella wants you groping her"

My whole face heats up

"I don't see her trying to stop it" Murphy says with a wink

"Can you guys focus on finding jasper "Wells says annoyed

"What's the rush you don't survive a spear through the heart" Bellamy says while swinging around his gun

"Put the gun away Bellamy" wells snaps at him

"I will as soon as the princess takes off her wrist band"Bellamy says with a smirk

"Clarke just takes off the fucking wrist band so we can find him" I snap at her annoyed that she's being so stubborn

"The ark isn't going to think I'm dead unless I'm actually dead, got it?" she says to all three of us

"You call this a search party? Let's split up" Finn said coming out of no where

"Better late than never" Clarke muttered under her breath, I could smell the sexual tension from here.

"Wells, Clarke come with me" he said leading them ahead of us

"And then there was three" I Muttered

"So how about you take off your bracelet?" Bellamy tells me more than asks

"Sure whatever "I shrugged

He crouched down and grabbed a small rock gesturing me to follow. I got down on my knees next to him.

"Always on your knees Ella" Murphy says with a smirk trying to be sexual, I just scoff and put my wrist in front of Bellamy

He grabs my arm and places it on his leg, and then he hits the bracelet with the rock multiple times before it pops off. I feel a slight pinch but it's nothing to bad.

"There you go, oh and murphy's right you do look pretty good on your knees, feel free to join me in my tent anytime" Bellamy says with a wink

We continued on our search for jasper when we heard Clarke call us.

"Over here"

We ran over to her and the guys. They were standing over a pile of blood that I assumed was jaspers. Suddenly we hear a loud groan coming from nearby field.

Clarke and I both take off running towards the noise the others following close behind.

Suddenly the ground drops out from beneath me but an arm grips mine and quickly yanks me up. I stumble forward and look up to see Bellamy holding my waist and keeping me from falling on my face.

"Are you alright?" he says looking concerned

"Yea,th..Thanks" I say stuttering

"Alright murphy come with me, wells watch them" Finns orders

Murphy and Finn climb the tree and start to cut jasper that was strung up and barely alive when we start to hear growling from the bushes.

"Bellamy, gun" Clarke shouts

He reaches for his gun only to discover its missing. He must have dropped it on our way here. or so I think until I hear shots ring out from behind us.

Wells is shooting at the giant cat running at us, he clips the cats ear but that's only enough to slow it down. It leaps straight towards me and Bellamy, Bellamy pushes me behind him as one final shot hits it in the head and it falls to the ground. Bellamy gives my hand a reassuring squeeze before turning around to face wells.

"Now she sees you" Bellamy growls at him

Once they cut jasper down we start to head back. Finn and Wells take turns carrying jasper while Bellamy and Murphy carry back the cat.as soon as we arrive back at camp Clarke takes off into the drop ship with Wells and Finn carrying jasper behind her.

Bellamy and Murphy drop the giant cat on the ground.

"Who's hungry?" Bellamy shouts earning many cheers from the group of teens.

Of course Bellamy has to add a dramatic flair to it.

I decide to go into the drop ship to check on jasper.

"How is he?" I ask Monty who is pacing on the first floor of the ship.

"Clarke said she'd let me know as soon as she checked him out and then she said 'go do something until I'm done' how am I supposed to do anything when my best friend is up there dying" he exclaimed

"I know it's hard, but she's right going do something to distract you. You're good at chemistry right?" I ask

"Yea, why?"

"How about you whip us up a batch of moon shine" I say with a smirk plastered across my face

"Well I guess I could do that" he says with a little smile.

20 minutes later Monty had brewed a large amount of moon shine and everyone was already starting to get drunk. Many couples had taken off into he make shift parachute tents or were basically fucking against parts of the walls that had been built.

I, myself have, had quite a few drinks and stumbled over to murphy.

"Want to go somewhere more private" I purred in his ear

He just grabbed my hand and led me out side one of the pieces of the walls. Before I knew it we were on the ground and I was straddling a half-naked murphy. His shirt was thrown beside us and mine was who knows where. I started to un do his pants when we were interrupted.

"Murphy you're supposed to be on watch right now" Bellamy says to him

"I'm a little busy right now" he says gesturing me to

"Well the grounders aren't going to wait so get up and get to your post" Bellamy says tossing murphy his shirt.

I get up off of murphy and watch him sulk away. I turn to go back to camp, in only my bra when I trip over a tree root; Bellamy sticks his arm out and catches me, bringing me close to his chest. I lean in and place a kiss on his lips.

"What are you doing?" he says confused

"You said whatever the hell we want right?"

"Yea..bu-" he starts but Interrupt him

"Well tonight I want you"
