A Familar Face

Authors Note: Hey everyone so I know I have a lot of stories already that I desperately need to and I promise I will update soon, but I've had this idea for over a year now when Purple Hearts was first announced. It's taken a while for me to work on and I can finally post it. I hope you enjoy and please let me know what you all thought.

"Mommy, why do we have to go to grandmas again?" Carlos asked Cassie as he watched her pack up another bag for him, Luke, and Mal. Cassie just sighed as she looked at the young boy. "I have work again and you remember what happened last time. I can't risk another incident like that," Cassie told Carlos as she kept packing up the small bag.

"But that was Luke! It's not fair! I told him not to do that! I wanna go with you please mommy we'll behave please please please," Carlos cried out as he kept trying to get Cassie to let them go with her.

"We both did it and it was an accident!" Luke screamed out as he shoved Carlos a little bit making Carlos shove him back. "No you did it and you made me help you like you always do," Carlos argued back.

"I don't care who did it! It happened and it's not
happening again now get your shoes on you're going to stay at grandmas while I'm at work tonight end of discussion," Cassie told the twins as she finished with the bag then went to get Mal from her crib.

"Mal come on sweetie we're going to grandmas," Cassie told the small toddler who just cried as she turned over and went back to sleep. "Mal please we have to go," Cassie told Mal as she picked her up and took her out of the crib.

"No wanna!" Mal cried out as she hadn't been feeling well all day and just wanted to keep sleeping. "Okay you can sleep but we're still going to grandmas," Cassie told Mal as she just grabbed her and then grabbed the boys.

"This isn't fair, I wanna go with you!" Carlos cried out as he crossed his arms. "Well you should have thought of that before you and your brother decided it would be a great idea to bottle flip with glass bottles and almost got yourselves put in the hospital and me almost fired," Cassie told Carlos who just glared at his brother.

"Okay we're here please be good for grandma. I love you and I'll see you after work," Cassie told the kids as she just unbuckled Mal from her car seat and helped the boys out of the car.

"Love you too and we will," the twins told Cassie as they ran into the house. "Mom, are you sure this is okay?" Cassie asked her mom who just smiled as she took Mal from Cassie.

"Yes of course go to work they'll be fine don't worry Cassie," Cassie's mom told her making Cassie sigh as she had a bad feeling about this but decided she was just being paranoid like she always was.

"Okay, remember to call me if anything happens and Mal isn't feeling the best right now so please monitor her and again call me if anything gets worse," Cassie rambled out to her mom who just nodded as she looked at her.

"Cassie I know they'll be fine and I'll call if anything happens now go before you get yourself fired," Cassie's mom told her as she hugged her. "Yeah you're right bye mom thank you so much for this and I'll be back after work to get them," Cassie told her mom as she just quickly left for the bar.

"Hey where's the minis?" Nora asked Cassie when they saw their friend enter the bar without the kids. "They're staying with my mom tonight. I can't afford another incident like the other day. And Mal isn't really feeling well right now. A noisy bar full of drunks is probably not the best idea right now," Cassie told Nora as she just sat down down at the piano and started trying to write another song.

"Aww poor thing, what's wrong with her?" Nora asked Cassie who just sighed as she kept playing with the piano. "She's just cranky and more tired lately. I think she might be coming down with a cold or something," Cassie told Nora as she turned her focus back to her piano.

"Aw well I hope she feels better soon," Nora told Cassie who just sighed as she nodded. "Me too I really can't handle anything else right now," Cassie told her friend as she began to hum to herself trying to get the right lyrics for her song that is until it was about 10 minutes from opening and Nora had to stop her to get her back to work.

"It's so much quieter than normal I don't know how I feel about that," Nora jokingly told Cassie who just laughed a little as she helped cut up the limes to finish getting ready for opening.

"I know but it's also less stressful. I love them with all my heart but trying to watch 3 kids while also working is definitely a lot especially when you add our gigs as well," Cassie told Nora who nodded as they knew Cassie was right.

"Well that is true but I still miss them," Nora told Cassie who smiled a little as she nodded. "Oh I know you do but don't worry I'll probably bring them again soon I don't really want to keep making my mom feel like she has to always watch them. She has her own life outside of always worrying about me and the kids," Cassie told Nora who nodded as they understood where Cassie was coming from.

"Alright, well moving on it's opening time. You ready," Nora playfully told their friend as they just went to the door and turned on the open sign to allow people in.

"Bye guys that was awesome," Cassie told her band once it had been a few hours later and they had just finished performing Sweet Caroline which was requested by the owner himself. Cassie couldn't help feeling as excited and pumped up as she was. She always loved the rush that performing gave her and it was definitely a good distraction from her normal everyday life.

"Hey Cass look it's your favs," Nora playfully told their friend snapping Cassie's attention back as she quickly looked over to see all the marine men enter into the bar. Cassie immediately felt her good mood and her happiness from the rush she got after that performance start to vanish as she just knew that this was going to be a long night especially with how she felt about marines and the military in general.

"Ugh great marines," Cassie groaned out as she just closed her eyes and put her head back. Cassie was definitely not looking forward to this shift at all. While Cassie was starting to prepare herself for the long shift she was about to endure someone else entered into the bar as he quickly called out for her. This action immediately brought Cassie into shock as she looked over at who had called her name.

Cassie's shocked reaction quickly turned into excitement as she realized who had called her name. "Stop! Frankie!" Cassie cried out excitedly as she immediately went running towards the young man and hugged him. Cassie couldn't believe Frankie was really back after how long it had been. She was starting to think she was never going to see him again, that is until now when he showed up again making her so happy. She had grown up with him and he was basically her little brother.

He was even the first person she had told when she had first found out that was going to be a mom.

Flashback:

Cassie sighed as she just knocked on the door and waited for her younger friend to answer. She knew this was a lot to handle and she needed to tell someone right away. She would have told her mom, but she was terrified of how her mom would react.

Cassie had just barely graduated from high school; her mom was definitely not going to approve of this at all. Cassie's thoughts were interrupted though when the door opened and the younger boy answered it with a smile.

"Cassie hey what's up," the young teen asked his friend as he let her inside the house. "Okay so is anyone else here right now?" Cassie asked Frankie who just shook his head. "Nah my parents are out right now so what's up girl," Frankie told Cassie who just sighed as she pulled out something from her bag.

"Promise you won't freak," Cassie told Frankie who just laughed as he looked at her. "Oh come on it can't be that bad," Frankie playfully told Cassie who just sighed again as she handed him something from her bag.

"No way is this real?" Frankie asked his older friend in shock causing Cassie to slowly nod as she took it back. "You're pregnant?" Frankie cried out in shock as he couldn't believe it. "Yeah I am. I know I still can't believe it either but apparently it's true. I took like five tests, they all came back the same," Cassie told Frankie who just nodded.

"So what are you gonna do?" The young teen asked Cassie who just looked down. "I'm not sure yet I was kinda planning to keep the baby though. My mom is gonna lose it when she finds out," Cassie somewhat jokingly told Frankie who just laughed as he hugged her.

"Well in that case it looks like I'm gonna be an uncle," Frankie excitedly told Cassie as he hugged her again making Cassie laugh as she nodded and hugged back. "Yeah I guess that's true but I'm so screwed," Cassie playfully told Frankie, making them both laugh.

"Well at least you have me," Frankie told Cassie, making her smile again as she looked at him. "I know this baby is very lucky," Cassie told Frankie, causing them both to laugh again as they agreed.

Flashback ends

He had also been the first person to find out she was going to be having twins in the first place which she was still shocked by when she had found out as she was definitely not expecting that.

Not only was Frankie there for everything involving the boys, but he was also the first person she told when she found out she was going to be having another baby after the twins. Frankie had been there for everything just like she had for him that is until more recently in which he had left and she hadn't seen him in what felt like forever.

It still didn't even feel real that she was hugging him right now and she couldn't believe that he was apparently a marine now of all things.
