Chapter One

A Dangerous Discovery

"What's going on momma?" Braxton asked innocently.

If you missed the action, we just arrived at Disney World, but it's sort of...er...closed for maintenance at the moment.

"I don't know sweetie, just hang on." Mom said, still trying to figure this out herself.

"Should we turn back?" Dad asked.

"Dad no! I wanna go to Disney World!" Braxton began to cry.

Olivia and I tried our best to calm him down, but it was of no use.

Then something even more scary happened.

Braxton unlocked the car and jumped out.

Olivia screamed, and instinctively, I jumped out to chase him down.

"Braxton! Come back now!" I yelled over all of the noise.

I couldn't find him while mom ran up behind me, definitely panicking.

"Where is he??"

"I can't find him!"

"Braxton! Come back!" Mom screamed, even though it wasn't that loud due to all of the noise.

Then I caught sight of a small little boy running inside the main gate.

"There he is!" I said while pointing at the gate.

"I see him! Go back to your dad and Olivia! I'll get him." Mom said while she began to run to the gate that was filled with medical vehicles and several others.

"No way! He's my little brother, and I'm going with you." I said, probably a little risky, but I didn't care.

Mom smiled. "Alright, lets hurry."

I smirked and ran with my mom inside the gate, but a military stopped us quickly.

"You can't go in there! It's way too dangerous!"

"My six year old son just ran inside the gate!"

"What?? How the hell did we miss that?" He demanded.

"And what's even going on anyway?" I asked, but it wasn't even important yet.

"Let's focus on getting your brother back." The military guard said. He said something on the radio, and he led us inside the gate.

What we saw was so crazy that I didn't even know how to describe it at the time. The entire park was in ruins, and rides were destroyed like a tornado just ripped through here.

"Braxton!" Mom yelled.

No answer.

"Braxton!" She yelled again, this time more desperately.

Christ, where was he?

I glanced at the guard, and he looked a little fearful, which didn't reassure me at all.

This time I yelled. "Brax! Where are you!?"

Still nothing. I began to get more scared.

"Stop." The guard said.

We immediately stopped, obeying his commands. He motioned us to get behind him, so we did.

"What's going on?" I whispered.

"Stay quiet."

I took a risk and peeked over my mom's and the guard's shoulders, and I saw someone in the distance.

"Is it Braxton?" I whispered again.

Nobody answered my question, so I asked again.

"Dude is it my brother or not?" I asked more loudly.

"Shush!" Both of them said simultaneously.

I grew impatient, and once I look back on that, I probably made the best yet worst mistake of my life.

"Tell me if it's my brother and I'll shut up!"

The guard turned around and gave me an angry stare, and my mom looked scared out of her skin.

The real mistake was that whoever was out heard me this time.

The guard cursed under his breath, and he began to frantically speak to someone on his radio and told us to get the hell back.

"Why? Who is it? Is it Braxton?" I asked.

"Now is not the time for this kid! Get back NOW!"

I did as I was told, and I followed the military guard as we hid behind a few vehicles.

I didn't say anything, but I was really wondering something.

What in the world was going on!?

"Where are we going?" I whispered.

"Nowhere right now. We're just hiding from that...thing." The guard said.

I finally looked at his name tag, and it read "Johnson."

For some reason, that sounded rather familiar. But I couldn't place why.

"What is the thing?" I asked.

Johnson only shook his head, unsure himself. "I honestly don't know, but I feel like there's more of them out there."

I got really scared now. If Braxton didn't make it out alive, I would never forgive myself. Ever.

I sighed. "Please, let him be okay..."

My mom grabbed my hand and lightly rubbed it, trying to reassure me. "I have hope."

I did too, but not for very long.

After about another couple of minutes of sitting there in complete silence, I heard a loud chunk of metal fall behind us, making everyone jump.

Johnson cursed again. "That was loud enough to wake Los Angeles. We need to move now."

We slowly emerged from our hiding spot, waiting for his command to follow him.

Eventually we got it, and we stayed low to the ground while looking for another place to go.

I was beginning to feel sick to my stomach due to the worry that I was feeling. Then we heard screaming that shocked all of us, and it sounded just like Braxton.

"That was Braxton!" Mom said.

Johnson nodded. "The we're gonna go get him."

With me still not knowing what in the world was going on, I was still determined to find my brother.

Even if it killed me.
