The Airport
Class Two Outbreak: June 18th at 2:11pm
Current Location: Blountstown, FL

Gunshots began to roar on both sides of the battle. Raiders versus Us. One of the raiders screamed in agony as I held Braxton and Olivia's heads down as the back window suddenly shattered.
"Dang it!" I yelled over all of the noise.
I glanced over at Candice, who was nowhere to be seen. I guessed she was in the floorboard.
Mom was in the backseat, fearing for her life.
Suddenly, both Dad and John ran inside the car and threw it into gear. "Go, go! Go Will!"
Dad hit the gas and sped off, with the raiders in the dust behind us.
Once we were a good ways away, Dad had the guts to speak after all of that. "You okay guys? Anybody get hurt?"
"I-I think some glass cut me up a little bit w-when the window broke." Olivia mumbled.
Dad cursed under his breath and glanced back at me, still tightly holding both of my siblings. "Where are the cuts sweetheart?"
"My back." She mumbled.
"Jeremy, think you can patch it up?" Dad asked.
"If you got a few napkins and maybe some tape, sure." I answered.
John immediately began to dig in his bag and handed me a few napkins and a roll of tape.
"Sis, I know this is gonna be awkward, but you're gonna have to lift your shirt up for me. It's not that-"
"Just do it and get it over with." She said as she sat in between my legs and arched her back, shivering a little.
I lifted up her shirt, and I was relieved that none of the cuts were as bad as I feared they were. I asked John for a little water, and he passed me his bottle. Then, I dripped just a few drops on the napkin and quickly placed it on her bare back.
She shivered from the cold, but she never said anything. Thankfully there wasn't a lot of blood to work with, so I didn't have to use the tape.
"Okay, that should be it. You'll be alright as long as you don't pick at it." I said.
"Heh, thanks big bro." She said as she leaned back into my chest.
I was about to say something about it before mom suddenly turned around and looked at us in surprise. Olivia's eyes must've been closed, since mom nodded at me in appreciation.
Braxton was just staring out of the window, which worried me some.
"Hey Brax." I said quietly.
He slowly turned his head and looked at me with sad eyes. "What?"
"Do you know what we're gonna do when we go to Washington?"
He shook his head. "No, what are we gonna do?"
"Well, there's this really famous water park that a few of my old friends have been to before. Heard it's pretty fun!" I said in a way to get him excited.
"R-Really...?"
Then dad spoke up. "Yeah! It's so much fun!"
Braxton flashed that smile that will make anyone in the worst mood possible become happy, just like that. "Yes! I wanna go to the water pork!"
Pork? Eh, close enough.
Olivia finally woke up and shushed Braxton, who pouted and flopped back down in his seat.
Mom chuckled and turned back around.
————————
"We're close to Tallahassee. Y'all wake up now." Dad said after all of us fell asleep.
A sharp feeling of fear rushed over me when I began to see the tall buildings. In every zombie movie I've seen, cities aren't the best place to be.
"Fortunately, the airport isn't in the actual city. We should be able to get there fine..." John said, a little unsure.
Dad took an exit that had directions toward the airport. Soon enough, dad was forced to slow down due to some cars littering the road.
It took a while, but we made it. Olivia and Braxton looked a little nervous, which then again I was too.
I looked out of the window, and I saw zombies trying to eat something. I squinted to see what it was, and my heart did a somersault, realizing what it was.
"What is it Jeremy?" Mom whispered to me.
"N-Nothing."
Then as we got into the city, a zombie ran out into the road.
"William watch out!" Candice screamed.
Dad jerked the steering wheel to the right, towards the ditch. John jumped out and pulled out his knife.
Unfortunately, dad couldn't seem to get the car out of the ditch, so he demanded the women and me and the two kids to stay in the car.
As we watched in fear, John stabbed the female zombie in the neck while dad kicked it in the chest. Then John pulled the knife back out and stabbed it right in the top of the head.
It still wouldn't go down, and it reached to grab dad. Then John raised its foot up, and crushed its head with a crack. That was probably the most disgusting thing I've ever had to experience, which I almost gagged from.
"He's waving us to come out. Let's go." Mom said, which we did.
I hid the kids behind my back so they didn't have to see what I saw happened.
"So what's the plan?" I asked.
"We head out to the airport. Hopefully we won't have too much problems along the way. Just stay close behind me and I'll kill anything that gets in our way." Dad said.
As we began to walk, we avoided using guns, but sticking with blades to avoid loud sounds.
Stab, kick, crush, repeat. Stab, kick, crush, repeat. It was disgusting, but it was the best we could do. Both dad and John had some pretty bloody legs.
"There it is." John said.
We stopped and looked out at the fairly large airport. It looked a little run down, but we went anyway.
—————————
"Uhm, is anyone here?" Mom called out into the flickering lights, creating that eerie atmosphere.
"Hurry, there should be a waiting deck at Terminal C. Follow me." John said.
The couple led us up the stairs, but we had to go slow. "Ssh! You hear that?" Candice said.
"Yeah. Wait, what's on its face?"
We tried to look, and a couple of the zombies had what looked like orange mushrooms on its face.
