Both. It wasn't your fault that I couldn't deal with that lifestyle anymore. It was suffocating for me while it was freeing for you. I didn't want to take away your only means to unwind from all the pressure. I knew that the only way for you to let me go was to let you think I was seeing someone else behind your back. Otherwise, you'd convince me that we'd be able to make it work then we'd both suffer in the long run.
