ODETTE WAS ON THE RUN. Not in a way like a criminal was on the run from the law and invading the police (though it felt like it at times), but more so running away from her old life and her past. The eldest of three daughters from a woman with unbelievably high standards was enough to make any child practically jump from the nest. Odette had ambitions, she knew what she wanted to be after so many years of trial and error- a doctor. She wanted to feel the rush of adrenaline that coursed through her veins like a high over a surgery, the way a sense of pride would expand throughout her chest at saving a life, how her work would actually mean something- how she would mean something by herself alone, other than under the name of others. And that's what she did. One drive and she was in Seattle, entering the world of Seattle Grace Hospital with hopes for a brighter future down the rode. Little would Odette know, her future wouldn't be as clean staking as she would hope, and eventually, our past has a way of catching up with us in ways unexpected.

Hello! Welcome to "What We Mend", the edited (and updated) version of "Elysium", which has been something that's been a long time coming. I wanted to add more characters but just didn't know where to put them, but now I do as there are a lot of specialties that aren't really touched on in Grey's fics, and with more characters I give you guys a variety to see which one gets what (if that makes sense). Sorry for the delay, but I'm in college and have a life that can have its moments, but I've been in a Grey's mood and hope to at least update with some frequency. If Wattpad and its formatting issues don't get in the way. This will be a Grey's characters x multiple ocs, such as Mark (who deserves love), Meredith, Izzie, etc. While this does start off as a Mark fic, I'm not necessarily sure it will stay that way later on in the future (changing to oc x oc), but we'll see. Also, I added more diversity because, while Grey's in its later seasons was/is doing a better job at adding more poc characters, it still was a slow process and the earlier seasons were still, pretty much, white as hell (where's the flavor?)

CONTENT WARNING. While I wish I could say this story will be all smooth sailing, it won't be for many parts, especially regarding characters like Odette, Corinna, and Vincent. This book will contain mature themes that can be stressful for some, so please value your peace of mind and don't force yourself to read these certain topics (which will have warnings placed before each chapter if discussed). What We Mend will contain themes of gore, blood, death, domestic/intimate partner violence, alcoholic consumption, hospital scenes, sexual scenes, death, child abuse and neglect, mentions and discussions of past sexual assault, gun violence, discussions of mental health/illness, and mature situations.

DISCLAIMER/CREDITS. The first act takes place during season one and two, however that doesn't necessarily mean that it will stay true to the specific timeline. Meaning, some scenes will follow the show, some won't, some episodes will occur in book canon while some won't. Some relationships will happens faster than they do in the show, while some will happen later, you get my point. I don't own Grey's Anatomy, original plot or characters (if I did Mark and Lexie would still be alive, Callie would be happier, etc). All credits and rights go to Shonda Rimmes. I only own What We Mend's plot and characters so no stealing, as plagiarism is a crime and, also, it takes a long time and care to form these stories. Any images such as graphics can be found on Tumblr or Pinterest, but were edited by me.
