Chapter 5: To be loved

Now we've had a couple of online dates.
All of them were absolutely beautiful.
We played a couple of online escape rooms and we cooked a couple more meals, other times we just chatted.
But no matter what we did, we always enjoyed it.

Despite the fun we had, I knew I had to see her in person, just being together online ain't it. I needed to see her again.
How?
Well, spring break wasn't terribly far away anymore, so that's when I need to go to her. We've already looked forward to that. We kinda planned that we wanted to meet in spring again but it was too early to plan that far ahead at that time, but now the time is just right.
Now I just needed to make her as happy as possible. How? Well, I had an idea.
You see, in order to feel incredibly happy, you need to be somewhat sad before. Now, I don't want to make her sad, so how will I do this?
This was my plan.
I tell her I'm coming on a certain day at a certain hour, but I actually arrive at a much earlier time.
Why? Well.
Now when I have already arrive she will think I will be waiting for my train. Then I will just call her while being on my way to her house. (Remember she still thinks I am at home)
Then I will tell her that my train is cancelled and I can't come. I will also tell her that I can't come to a later date because there is an issue with the train tracks.
Now she is sad, but I don't want her to be sad for too long, so just a couple of seconds after that I will ring her doorbell and tell her she should open the door.
Then she will see me and be all excited again.

Yes that was the plan.
Pretty decent right?
Well, it's not long until I had to execute that plan.
Let's see how it went.

Well, when I arrived I started to execute my perfect plan. I called her, at the train station and told her that my train was just canceled and she was devastated.
I told her how sorry I am and how much it annoys me.
She tried to tell me that everything is fine and that it's not my fault.
Just in that moment, I rang her doorbell and her mother opened the door, I told Leonie that she should hold on a second.

Her mom was surprised to see me and I whispered to her that Leonie didn't know that I was here and it was a surprise and her mother knew what was going on. So she called her down and told her that there is someone waiting for her at the door.

Then I went to my phone again and told her I was back, she said that someone is at the door for her and it's probably her grandma who she really did not want to see now.
I said that she should just go, maybe it's someone else, someone important.

She laughed and responded by saying that she couldn't imagine that anyone that important would just show up without telling her.

Yeah, surely not.

And then she came down the stairs and looked at the door and her jaw dropped.

And it is to this very day, still my favorite memory. There was someone there who was so incredibly happy to see me, and there was someone who couldn't help but smile when they saw me, what a feeling that is.

It's also my favorite look on her, her hair was messy and she had no makeup on. She was still in bed mostly but why was it my favorite? Because I saw her genuinely happy, I saw how excited she was by just being me. By just showing up.

What a feeling it is, to have someone care and feel for you in such a way.
