Chapter 6 - Hesitation

When Dallon woke up, the first thing he noticed was that he was still in the clothes he was wearing at the party.

The second thing was the pain buzzing in his head.

He groaned and got up, trying to remember what happened. His last memory was Brendon and him in the taxi, and it was a little scaring that he didn't even remember how he got here...

That's why he usually doesn’t drink.

He took medicine for his headache and a shower before going to the living room, were Brendon was watching TV.

"Hi Dal, how are you?" he asked, smiling a little bit.

"I've been better..." Dallon mumbled and he looked at his friend. "Don't you have a hangover too?"

"No, I didn't drink as much as you... You were drunk, it was funny" he said, chuckling slightly at the memory but also blushing a little bit.

"I don't really remember it..." Dallon confessed, sitting next to his friend. "I remember the party but I don't remember getting here... We took a taxi, right?"

Brendon nodded and looked at him, seeming disappointed.

"You really don't remember anything after the party?" He asked.

Dallon frowned and tried to remember because the expression on Brendon's face wasn't reassuring...

Maybe he did or said something embarrassing?

Now that he thought about it, he remembered a dream where he was kissing Brendon and the sensations were really vivid, less blurry than usual...

But it couldn't have been real, right?

Oh god, he hoped it wasn't real... He wasn't that desperate...

"No, I don't remember..." He mumbled to Brendon, looking at his lap.

But at the second he looked up at the younger man and noticed the big mark on his neck, the wave of satisfaction that went through him after making it last night was back and he knew it wasn't a dream.

He didn't remember how it happened and what he said, but he was sure that he kissed Brendon last night.

"Well, we just came back here in a taxi and then you went straight up to bed," Brendon said, obviously lying.

"Ok... I just want you to know that I'm not used to drinking and if I said or did weird things I'm really sorry and I didn't mean it..." Dallon couldn't help but say.

"Yeah of course... It's nothing" Brendon mumbled but Dallon didn't miss how sad he looked and he didn't really understand why.

-----

"I really thought Dallon would remember what we did last night or at least a little..." Brendon said to his friends after telling them everything. "I don't get what he wants from me... Every time we kiss he finds an excuse to not face the consequences of it..."

"He's just playing with you Bren, you shouldn't get attached to him, he doesn't love you," Jon said.

"How can you be sure of that?" Brendon asked, and Jon turned his head to Ryan.

"Tell him what Dallon told you at the party"

Ryan seemed hesitant, but Jon insisted.

"Okay..." He mumbled before looking at Brendon who was intrigued. "At the party, I said to Dallon that I thought he had a crush on you and he assured me that it wasn't the case. He told me he wasn't in love with you... But he could have lied! I saw the way he looks at you... He clearly cares about you."

"I didn't tell you to give him false hopes..." Jon said, disapproving.

"I probably need to have a discussion with him..." Brendon realized and Spencer nodded.

"If this situation hurts you too much you should..." he approved. "But I think that Dallon himself doesn't know what he wants. Or maybe he doesn't want to accept the situation..."

-----

When he was back in the apartment, Brendon was determined to have a discussion with Dallon. But, while he was waiting for him, sitting on the couch, he started to feel weird.

He was cold and his head was hurting pretty bad.

"Hey," Dallon said, smiling when he entered the room.

But his smile faded when he saw Brendon's face.

"Are you okay?" he asked, sitting next to him.

Brendon nodded, ignoring his headache.

"I'm fine, I wanna talk to you."

"Are you sure you okay? You look very pale..." Dallon insisted, wincing.

"Yeah, we need to talk, it's important..." Brendon replied before shivering involuntarily, and Dallon frowned at that.

"You're not okay..." he stated and put a hand on Brendon's forehead, making him whine a bit.

"Your hand is cold..."

"And I think you have a fever..." Dallon replied, removing his hand.

"My head hurts..." Brendon admitted, feeling really bad.

"You're probably sick, I'm gonna give you something to calm the pain and lower your temperature, okay?" the taller said gently.

"Okay..." Brendon mumbled, curling his legs to his chest.

Dallon left for a few minutes and was back with a pill and a glass of water.

"You should go to bed, it will be more comfortable" Dallon suggested after Brendon took the medicine.

The younger man got up and went to his bedroom, taking his pants off before laying under the covers.

-----

One hour later, Dallon decided to go check on Brendon, to see if he was feeling better or needed something.

He opened the door of the bedroom and saw him in his bed. He knew Brendon wasn't asleep despite his closed eyes because there was an expression of pain on his face.

"How are you feeling?" he asked quietly, sitting on the bed.

He put his hand on Brendon’s forehead to check his temperature again and it was worse than before.

"I'm cold..." Brendon whined, opening his eyes, and Dallon moved some strands of hair away from his face.

"I know B..." Dallon said softly, thinking of a way to make him feel less cold. "I can lay in the bed with you to make it warmer if you don't mind" he proposed.

"But you're gonna get sick too if you stay close to me..." Brendon said.

"I don't think so, but even if I get sick I don't care" Dallon replied.

He went under the covers with Brendon and put his arms around him, pulling the dark-haired man to him.

Brendon seemed to relax against him, closing his eyes again and falling asleep, his head resting on Dallon's chest.

-----

When Brendon woke up he was shivering again, the warm body that was next to him when he fell asleep missing.

He wondered if it was a hallucination caused by his fever or if Dallon really held him close to make him feel warmer until he was asleep. But he could smell Dallon's scent on his pillow, so he guessed it really happened.

He loved that smell. It was good and not too strong, just enough to be reassuring, making him feel safe.

Brendon put a cover around him and left his bedroom, looking for Dallon.

He found him in the living room, sitting on the couch.

"Hey Brendon, do you feel better?" he asked when he saw Brendon, smiling a little bit.

"Yes, a little" he replied.

"Wanna watch Stranger Things with me?" he proposed, patting the place on the couch next to him.

Brendon nodded but, instead of sitting next to him, he decided to sit on Dallon's lap, snuggling to him.

"Oh, I guess it can be comfortable like this too..." Dallon mumbled, surprised, but he didn't push him away.

He put an arm around Brendon's back and adjusted himself on the couch, finding a better position for both of them.

Brendon nuzzled in Dallon's neck, hiding his smile. He didn't care if he couldn't see the screen, he just wanted to breathe in Dallon's scent and be hugged by him.

It didn't take a lot of time for Brendon to feel sleepy, and he swore he felt Dallon put a kiss on the top of his head before he falls asleep again.

When Brendon woke up for the third time that day, Dallon was still holding him close and he let out a discreet sigh of contentment, feeling way too happy to be in the taller's man arms.

He had always found Dallon attractive, but when he was with Olivia he had never really paid attention to it because he was already in love. But now he was single, and despite the fact he was still brokenhearted and thinking about his ex a lot, he knew he was feeling something for Dallon.

Something a little stronger than friendship, a feeling that was growing days after days.

A few moments later, Dallon noticed that the other man was awake and he smiled at him.

"How are you?" He mumbled and Brendon looked up at him.

"I'm feeling better" Brendon replied and he shifted a little bit, to face Dallon.

He looked at his lips. He really wished he could kiss Dallon because it seemed to be the perfect timing for a sweet kiss. Dallon caught him staring and frowned a little bit.

"Why did you kiss me after the party?" Brendon asked bitting bis own lips inconsciently.

"I-I didn't kiss you..." Dallon mumbled with shifty eyes.

"You did..." The younger man insisted, not sure if Dallon was lying or if he really wasn't remembering what happened.

"I don't remember it, I was drunk..." Dallon said.

Brendon caught his eyes and smirked to him.

"Do I need to refresh your memory?" He proposed, staring at Dallon's lips again.

"No, you're sick" Dallon refused.

"You don't wanna kiss me only because I'm sick?" Brendon asked expectantly.

Dallon looked away again, blushing slightly.

"I... I'm not sure..." he mumbled, so quietly that Brendon almost didn't hear him.

"You don't know what you want?" Brendon asked, his voice soft.

"I'm confused..." Dallon nodded.

Okay, Brendon could understand that. He had been through that the first time he realized he had a crush on a guy too. He had a phase of hesitation before finally accepting that he also liked boys.

Dallon probably needed some time too.

"Well, when you will be sure of what you want, let me know," he said with a smile, and Dallon returned it to him.

Brendon was pretty confident about this. Even if he was drunk, Dallon seemed to be attracted to him after all.
And he will do everything to make sure that Dallon realizes that.
