Chapter 1 - Collision
Dallon was truly regretting to go to this party.
They were celebrating Pete's birthday in a bar privatized at the occasion. And maybe it sounds all fun and cool to you but Dallon wished he was anywhere but here.
He didn't wanted to go, but he couldn't really say no to Pete, he was his friend and he owed him so much. So if going to a birthday party could make his friend happy then of course he will come, despite his introvert personality.
At the begging it was okay, he was with Ryan and they were having an usual conversation so it wasn't unpleasant. But his best friend went to the restroom and then never came back to him.
So Dallon was alone in a corner of the bar because he wasn't in the mood to try to socialise with new people.
It was too stressful, making a good impression was hard. He was always afraid to say something wrong or to act weird... And sometimes the fear was so strong than the words couldn't even past his lips, getting stuck in his throat, not matter how much he wanted to say them.
Maybe he could get a drink, find Pete to wish him a happy birthday and then leave? Nobody will miss him anyway.
Well okay, maybe Ryan will miss him a little bit, but he just saw him laughing with Patrick Stump so he would be fine even if he leaves.
So Dallon went to the bar, talking to the first waiter in sight.
"Can I have a Dr Pepper please?"
"Don't you think a cocktail or a beer would be better?" The waiter replied, smirking a bit.
Dallon frowned and look at him. He didn't seem to be 21 yet, but Dallon guessed it was okay as long as he wasn't drinking any of the numerous alcohols in the bar.
A red neon was on him, illuminating his pale skin from the side. He had big brown eyes and pink plumped lips. His hair was really short in the back and each side of his head and the rest on the top, longer, was raised, surely maintained by some hair wax. It looked so soft, it couldn't have been gel.
And don't get it wrong, Dallon was straight, but he wasn't blind and had to admit that the young man in front of him was really handsome.
"I think you're paid to get me what I want to drink, not to choose it for me." Dallon replied, his tone sounding more harsh than what he had planned.
So the young waiter lost his smirk and quickly apologized.
"You're right sir, sorry."
Then he went to open the big fridge behind the counter to grab a bottle with a red sticker around and a brown liquid inside. He filled a tall glass with the soda and putted some ice cubes and a straw in it before handing it to Dallon.
"Thank you. And sorry, I didn't mean to seem rude."
The waiter shook his head, a smile back on his lips.
"It's nothing, I was just trying to make the conversation... I'm sure I've seen you before..." He said, taking a time to think, looking at him with concentration. "You're a singer, right?"
Dallon chuckled a bit at how hard he was trying to guess who he is, before nodding.
"I'm Dallon Weekes."
"Oooh! The lead singer and bassist from the band IDKHOW." He realized.
Dallon nodded again, taking a sip of Dr Pepper.
"I think I saw you in the video clip of one of your songs... My girlfriend is a big fan of your band and I like it too, but I still prefer Fall Out Boy, sorry." He said, joking.
"It's okay, I still prefer Fall Out Boy too" Dallon laughed.
"I can't believe I'm at Pete Wentz's birthday party." The younger admitted.
"I guess it must be really hard to stay professional if you're such a big fan" Dallon said.
"Oh you have no idea..." He confirmed, sighing.
"I'm pretty sure I can get you a picture with him if you want." Dallon casually proposed, still sipping on his soda.
"Really, you would do that?" The waiter asked, his eyes opened wide.
"Of course, it's nothing." Dallon replied, shrugging.
He wanted to talk to Pete anyway and he knew it would make the fanboy happy.
It was better than waiting alone in a corner of the room.
"I would love that, please!"
"Okay...What's your name by the way?" Dallon asked, realizing that the boy didn't introduce himself.
"Brendon." He replied.
"Okay Brendon, I'll be right back with Pete, I just need to find him."
Dallon struggled a little bit to find his friend because god, there were so many people. Hopefully the room was big enough for everyone but Pete really had a lot of friends...
Once Brendon got his picture with Pete he thanked Dallon several times and then didn't seem to stop talking.
But Dallon didn't mind. Again it was better than drinking his glass alone.
"I can't believe I took a picture with Pete Wentz! I started to work here last week. Spencer will be so jealous."
"Who's Spencer?" Dallon asked, interrupting Brendon as the young man was already saying his next sentence.
"He's my friend and roommate. Or kinda. I'm sleeping on his couch." Brendon said.
"Why?"
"It's...uh... I got kicked out be my parents so I have no where else to stay." Brendon said, biting his lower lip, looking inconfortable.
Dallon's eyes widen in shock.
"Why did they do that?"
"I...I'm not really in the mood to talk about it with a stranger. I mean-You're not a stranger, I know your name, your music and all b-but I don't know you personally, ya know?" Brendon tried to explain, talking fast, visibly anxious.
Dallon bend over the counter to put a hand on his shoulder, calming him.
"I understand, man. It's normal." He removed his hand. "Maybe we can get to know each other around a coffee someday?" The famous singer proposed.
"Hum..."
Brendon gave him a weird look, visibly uneasy.
Then Dallon realized what was embarrassing and rectified quickly, a little blush coloring his cheeks:
"It's not a date! I-I mean, I wanna get to know you, but as a friend, in a totally platonic way."
He let out a nervous laugh.
God, he felt so stupid. He had sounded ambiguous without meaning it. Maybe that's why he only had a few friends, he was always so awkward, he didn't know how to interact with people, he was always so boring and afraid to be clingy and-
"Oh. Okay then." Brendon said with a smile. "I'm always okay for a friendly and totally platonic date, as long as you pay for my coffee because like you can guess, I don't have a lot of money."
"Of course."
Brendon gave him his number and Dallon left soon after, letting him work.
_____
Two days later Dallon and Brendon were in a coffee shop for their "friendly and platonic date" like Brendon called it.
The young man was drinking a macchiato and Dallon had a hot chocolate because he didn't like coffee.
"How can you live without coffee?" Brendon asked.
When he had learned that Dallon never drinks coffee he has started to talk about how much he loved it for the next 5 minutes. Dallon found it pretty amusing.
"I don't know, it's not my thing..." Dallon replied. "But you seem so passionate about coffee."
"In fact I am passionate about music" Brendon explained, smiling. "I have a band too, it's called Panic! At The Disco."
"Oh, that's cool. And your band plays sometimes in local bars and stuff like that?" He asked.
"Well... We were supposed to play last night but I was working so we had to cancel it..." The shorter said sadly. "Since I don't live with my parents anymore working is my priority."
"And you need to find a place to live, right?" Dallon added.
"Yes but I can't afford anything right now... I have a little bit of money but I use it to buy food." Brendon explained.
"Listen... Maybe I know a place where you would live in colocation and would have your own room for almost nothing, if you're interested." Dallon announced.
"Of course I am! Anything would be better than Spencer's couch." He replied expectantly.
"Okay, but first I need to know why your parents kicked you out." The bassist said.
Brendon face dropped but he nodded.
"To make it short... They kicked me out because I'm pansexual." Brendon explained, looking at his empty cup to hide his watery eyes from Dallon.
"That's ugly... I'm really sorry for you." The taller said, feeling sad for him.
"They think I'm just being rebellious, because I'm making music instead of going to college and I told then that I don't wanna be mormon anymore... But I'm just trying to be myself, you know."
"They really don't support you..." Dallon realized.
Brendon nodded and sniffled quietly.
"What about I finish my hot chocolate and then we go to my place? I have some spaghetti waiting to be eat." The famous singer said, changing subject.
"Sounds great" Brendon agreed with a little smile.
_____
"Oh my god, your living room is so huge! You can fit Spencer's whole apartment 4 times in it." Brendon exclaimed, his jaw dropping.
Dallon chuckled slightly. He was only used to hang out with other famous and rich people, so it was pretty rare that someone find his apartment impressive when he brought them here.
"Oh I'm sure you'll get used to it soon enough"
"What do you mean?" Brendon said, raising an eyebrow.
"I have an empty room -well, several actually- so I thought that you could be my roommate for a few months."
And Brendon jaw dropped again.
"But Dallon, this place looks so expensive and I don't have money... I wouldn't be able to pay my part of the bills."
The taller shook his head, smirking.
"It's not a problem, I own it, so no rent to pay. And I'll buy for water and electricity, like I always did anyway. All I want from you is that you clean up the place from time to time and make sure there's always food in the fridge." He explained.
"That's too generous of you but I don't see how I can refuse your proposition... Thank you so much Dallon."
And with that Brendon went for a hug, almost taking him by surprise.
During a few seconds he felt the warm of Brendon's arms around his back and his smell outshined everything else.
And he smelt good, like sweet coffee, which was kind of weird because Brendon told him that he never put sugar in his coffee.
When they both pulled apart, Dallon realized that this hug had been more pleasant that what he expected.

Author's note:
I know in the USA you can't go in a bar before 21 because you can't drink alcohol but I'm french and dumb so I realised that afterward and I'm too lazy to rewrite the chapter... So just pretend Brendon can work here or that his job is not very legal...
See you soon for the next chapter!
