Chapter 9

"Hehe, 'interesting' is one way to put it." Mia comments, getting the three boys to chuckle.
"Oh, it's definitly more than just 'interesting'." Atmen adds cheekily.
"Ohohoho, now i'm REALLY curious." Rage grins, placing both of his hands next to him and scooting closer.
"God, where do we even start?" Grayson laughs, leaning his head into his hand.

The four adventurers looked amongst each other, until three pair of eyes landed on Drake.
He knew the most, remembered the most, so it only made sense that he should tell their new company the full story.
"With the way everyone's looking at me, I guess i'll start." The hybrid smiles nervously, turning to the Crew.
"It all started with me asking Armen for a midnight snack..."
---------
And so, the mage told the story to their new friends.

From when Armen and him discovered the diamonds in their surprisingly huge basement, to when two met Grayson, and when he and the blonde witnessed Armen's 'death'.
When he reunited with Grayson, who had stolen the dragon egg—which had been the last source of magic, their journey from The Red Keep to heading to The Magic Library, and eventually meeting Mia.
Retrieving an artifact for the elf, finding the catacombs, stealing an air ship from The Empire, and the trials of The Magic Library.

He talked and talked, reliving memories—good and bad, scary and stupid—until he finally ended it when the four finding the portal that brought their newfound companions here, in their world.
Of course though, he didn't tell them about Grayson's dead family or Mia's imprisonment in The Empire. He'll let the two blondes decide when they want to tell their tales of woe.

The Crew had hung onto each word as Drake told the story. Some comments would slip out of one or two of them, which would lead to some knowing smiles and laughs, then leading to whoever spoke to get quieted by their seatmate. By the time Drake finished his story, the few tears had fallen from his eyes had begun to dry. He looked around the circle of teens and older. Mia and Grayson's tears had dried up too, but Armen was still crying silently.
The elf scooted closer and patted his back comfortingly, letting the boy cry as he pleased.

Being a puppet of Herobrine's for so long and dying more than once, it's no surprise Armen couldn't hold in his sobs.

On the other logs, Rage, Fluke, and Evanz all had tears in their eyes as well. Evanz clung onto the blonde's arm and wiped his face on his sleeve. Fluke chuckled, petting the Welsh's head with his free hand. Rage quickly wipes his tears, taking a quick glance at the blue-nette next to him. Hollow seemed to be the only one that stayed cool, unsurprisingly.

"Hey prick, did you seriously not react to that story at all?" The dark-haired Brit asked him.
"Oh, no. It was intriguing and sad as fuck. I'm just not one to let loose my emotions like you." Hollow replies, shrugging.

"It-It's okay guys, really. I'm just...wow. That was a bigger weight on my chest than I thought." Drake exclaims, sighing. "I'm just glad I was able to let all of that out."
"Have to admit, you folks have had a rough time." Fluke acknowledged.
"Hah, you can say that again dude." Grayson chuckles lightly, getting up from the log and stretching.
------------
"In any case, it's getting pretty late. I think i'm ready for some actual rest." He continues, turning to Mia.
"How many tents did you set up?"
"Ah, about that, I only packed enough for the four of us." She replies, getting up as well.
"I never really expected us to have...well, more companions." The elf gestured at the other half of their group.

"It's no trouble! We can just split into pairs, one tent for two." Armen, finally calmed down, interjects.
Drake thinks for a moment. "That's not a bad idea, does anyone disagree?"
Everyone either shook their heads, answered verbally, or just gave a thumbs up.
No one disagreed.

"Alrighty then, so now for pairing up-" In an instant, everyone paired up.

Evanz and Hollow, Fluke and Rage, Mia and Armen (surprisingly).

"Oh wow, that settles that!" The mage laughs.
He turns over to his tent partner, Grayson. The blonde laughed along with him, smiling.
"Well, I guess we can all go ahead and sleep in our tents!"
And with that all four pairs entered their tents, waving and saying their good-nights to each other.

"Night Drake, night Grayson!" Armen called out from inside his tent.
Mia waved at the two, laughing a little as she got into the tent with the younger boy.
"What're you laughing at, Mia?" He questions, lying down on the sleeping bag the elf had lent him when he was unconcious.
"It's nothing, Armen." She replies, smiling as she does the same.
"Ahaha, you're weird."
"Yeah, no shit dude everyone in our group is weird."
"That is very true."
After a little bit of chatting, the two slept quietly.

Meanwhile Drake and Grayson had laid down on their respective bags, faced their backs to each other, and stayed quiet for a moment, laying on their sides. Both were known to have some trouble sleeping so easily.

"...Hey Grayson?" Drake whispers, checking to see if his friend was awake.
"Yeah Drake?" The soft voice of his friend replied.
The hybrid stayed quiet for a moment, not really expecting him to answer. He really didn't have much to talk about.
"I'm not the only one who sees that Rage and Hollow seem close, right? Like, REALLY close?" Finally Drake spoke, a hint of uncertainty in his voice.

Soft laughter came from the blonde next to him. Drake smiled fondly. It felt good hearing that quiet laughther, it left a fluttering feeling in his chest.
"Oh no, I definitely see that." Grayson answers, turning over to face the mage.
Drake turns over too, looking at the blonde. "Should we ask them about it?"
Grayson shook his head. "Let them tell us on their own accord. It doesn't even seem like Fluke and Evanz know, and they have their own thing to deal with."
The hybrid hesitates for a moment, before speaking. "I kinda wish I had a strong bond like that."

...

"You have me."

It was so low and quiet, but thanks to his ender ear's enhanced hearing, Drake heard it.

His eyes widen slightly, feeling his cheeks tint pink.
The blonde sees this and his eyes widens too.
'Oh god what the fuck did I just say.'

"A-And Armen!! Mia too!! You have all of us!" He stutters out, face flushing.

Another silent moment, this time it's awkward.

Really, really awkward.

"Night Drake!!" Grayson quickly turns back around.
He does his best to cover his face with his pillow as subtle as he could. Well, this is something the blonde won't let himself ever live down.

Still startled by his words, Drake turns back too, deciding to try and fall asleep.
Despite Grayson's words flying around in his head, the hybrid finds a way to fall asleep.
