Chapter 11
Drake woke up, yawning as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. He looked at his side, opening his mouth to greet Grayson a good morning, but was surprised to see both the sleeping bag and its' owner missing.
"Huh?" Fully awake, Drake heard some chatter outside.
'Ah, i'm probably the last one to wake up again.' The hyrbid thought, getting up from his sleeping bag and leaving the tent.
Once in eyes' view, Drake sees everyone talking amongst themselves and cleaning up their tents.
Grayson was the first to notice him.
"Oh! Morning Drake!" The blonde turns away from his comversation with Fluke, who waves a friendly hello to the hybrid, as he walks over to him.
"Heh, morning Grayson. I was the last one to wake up again, huh?" Drake replies, smiling.
"Yeah, but don't worry! We just started packing up our things. We'll be heading out once everyone's got their shit together." Grayson smiles back.
"Heading out? Wait- where are we going?" The mage asks, smile faltering as he tilts his head in confusion.
He remembers what Collin told him in his dream, but keeps quiet about it first.
"Oh! Well, I thought about how we couldn't stay here for long, what with the Empire looking for us and all that. But I couldn't figure out where to head to, until I remembered I had some maps on me!" The ex-commander exclaimed, lifting up a piece of rolled paper he held in his hand.
Opening it up, he handed it to Drake. On it were some landmarks he marked up during his adventures, some towns, and even the cave they were in yesterday.
"Surprisingly, we aren't too far away from you and Armen's old home."
The hybrid lift his eyes away from the map, raising an eyebrow. "Are you saying what I think you're saying?"
"Well, I was going to suggest we make your old place our base of operations, but if you don't-" Grayson starts off, but the mage cuts him off.
"Oh, no! I was going to suggest the same thing, actually." He laughs slightly, handing the map back to the blonde.
Grayson smiles again. "Hah, well you know what they say; Great minds think alike."
"Yo Grayson! We're all packed up!" The two look back at Mia, who's the one calling out to them.
Rage and Evanz are talking on one log, Hollow and Fluke on the other, and Armen and Mia sit patiently on their own log. From what it looks like, the tents are down and everyone's got their backpacks-
"Wait wait wait." Drake says aloud, grabbing everyone's attention as he and Grayson make it to the logs.
"Where did you four get those packs? You didn't have them when we first met." He asks, pointing out the sudden equipment.
Rage nudged Evanz to answer the mage's question.
"Ahaha, well, I didn't really sleep that much last night, so I went out and sat by the campfire. Or, ah, more likes the ashes of the campfire." Evanz replies, holding the straps of his bag.
"There was a sound, then a pale yellow-ish light that came from the cave. I was about to head inside, when Mia came out of her tent. Apparently her elf ears picked up on the sound as well."
"So we both went inside the cave, following the dimming light to the frame of the portal we came out of. The light was no longer there, but thankfully Mia was able to set one of the torches aflame." He continued, rubbing the back of his neck when he noticed everyone's eyes on him.
The Welsh wasn't really used to all this attention.
"In front of the portal frame stood four bags, each having a little symbol on it to represent who owns what bag and a note. The note read 'Have fun and try not to die! <3 Curaxu'."
"Curaxu? What's a Cu-"
"FOOKING CURAXU!" Rage yelled, surprising everyone who was listening to Evanz talk.
"What're you blaming Cura for? You chose the map!" Hollow asked, crossing his arms.
"Well how was I suppose to know the crazy prick would've built a portal that led to an entirely different world??" The dark-haired Brit exclaimed to his blue-haired friend.
"Dude, he's Curaxu. He's not called the 'God of Creation' for no fucking reason!"
"Wait- you guys have gods in your world? That can create entirely new worlds for you guys to visit?!" Mia cuts in, eyes sparkling.
"Ah, kinda? That's a complicated story for a different time!" Fluke replies, chuckling slightly.
"In any case, we didn't pack up for nothing!" Armen says, speaking for the first time since everyone woke up.
He gets off the log and stretches a little. "Where to, Grayson?"
"We're heading westward, to you and Drake's old house. It's a long walk, but our first stop'll be the town Morwick." The blonde replies. "If I recall, they have an inn we can stay in until we have to head out again."
He walks forward, opening his map. "Seeing as how i'm the one with the map, i'll be leading."
The rest followed suit, making sure they didn't leave anything of value as they sweeped the camp clean.
"Ughh, I haven't had to walk such a long way in forever." Rage groaned, fixing his bag strap.
"Well, looking at this map, you might have to get used to it buddy." Fluke says, taking a peek at Grayson's map.
It was going to be quite a journey, that much is clear.
Another loud groan of laziness comes from the dark-haired male. Hollow sighs in annoyance as Evanz and Fluke laugh at Rage's childishness.
The Crew will have to get used to these long trips though, because this isn't even half of the wild quest the eight will end up getting themselves into.
