Y/N and the others quickly dodged another attack from controlled Omega as they backed away.

"You just had to lead that thing back here!" Knuckles exclaimed.

"We came to rescue you! How are we supposed to know?!" Y/N sassed.

"Yeah, well, I was coming to rescue you!"

"Well, bro, we beat you to it." Kneecaps pointed out.

"Where is Naugus, anyway? I want to beat him up." Y/N asked.

"Down there. He's sealed himself in with the Master Emerald shards. His crystal barricade is too strong. I'll need help breaking it down--"

Knuckles was cut off by controlled Omega slamming his clawed hands at them as they quickly dodged him and he smashed the ground into pieces.

"--But I guess we've got to handle this guy first!"

"Right!"

"Chaos Spear!" Shadow shouted, throwing his spear right on controlled Omega's shoulder.

Knuckles deadpanned at his attack.

"Or that!" Kneecaps sweatdropped.

Controlled Omega froze again as Knuckles slowly approach him.

"Are you sure this is your robot buddy?"

"I didn't want to think so, but now that I've got a clear look at him? Yeah--it's him." Rouge said.

"Well, we need to figure out a way to get him back to normal. We can't get through to Naugus without his firepower."

Y/N's watch started beeping, making her eyes go wide.

"Really?! Now?!"

"What's wrong, sweetie?" Rouge asked.

"It's Sally! It must be something important. But I can't just reply to her right now!"

"I'm amazed you're getting any signal down here."

"Stop joking around. I'll go ahead and eliminate Naugus. My Chaos Spear should hold Omega until--"

Shadow was cut off by controlled Omega punching him straight in the cheek, causing him to go flying.

"...It wore off early...?" Shadow muttered in shock.

"Hurry and see what the princess wants! We'll keep him off you!" Knuckles shouted.

"Ugh! Fine! I'll be quick!" Y/N groaned and ran to the corner to avoid the scene as everyone did their best to fight back against controlled Omega with all of their might.

"Y/N? Can you hear me?" Sally called.

"Yeah. Um... kinda busy right now. I'm in a middle of a fight!"

"What fight? What was that noise?"

Sally referred to laser blast coming from controlled Omega as he aim it towards Rouge, who ducked from that.

"Long story--sorry, can you please make this quick?"

"Eggman ambushed us--on multiple fronts. We're about to launch a counterattack. If we win, the world is going to be restored earlier than planned."

Y/N's eyes widened in shock.

"Oh, crud!"

She looked over her shoulder to see Knuckles beaten down with Shadow, Rouge, and Kneecaps still fighting against controlled Omega as the robot caught Shadow who's spin dashing.

"Well... thanks for the heads-up?"

Suddenly, controlled Omega threw Shadow towards Y/N and he nearly crash into her as he fell to her side.

"Gotta go!"

She turned off her watch and helped Shadow up.

"Knuckles! Kneecaps! We've got a problem! Shadow--quick, do a spin dash!"

"Nrgh...?"

"Trust me!"

Shadow nodded and went into spin dash and Y/N brought out her giant fist whip. SHe swings it and hits Shadow towards controlled Omega, hitting him right in the chest and causing the robot to stumble back from the hard hit.

"What now?" Knuckles asked.

"What's wrong?" Kneecaps asked.

"Sallys says Eggman attacked and messed up the plan! I don't have the details, but the time-table for restoring the world just got bumped up."

"Are we talking days, hours or minutes?" Rouge asked.

"I don't know! What am I? A time master? But it sounded like 'sooner' rather than 'later.'"

"Then we need to end this fight now. I won't let Angel Island fall to its doom!" Knuckles said, putting up his spiked fists.

"I promised I would help you save the island, and I'm keeping that promise!" Y/N said in determination, spinning her giant fist whip.

"Let's do this! For Angel Island, for the world!" Kneecaps shouted, stretching his legs.

Then, they all attacked controlled Omega with a battle cry. Their battle shook the cave as they went back and forth. Knuckles suddenly froze as his eyes went wide that filled with fear. Y/N noticed it and kneel down.

"Knuckles? What's wrong?"

"It's too late! He restored the Master Emerald!"

"What?! No! It's never too late!"

Y/N helped Knuckles up.

"But he..."

"All he did was save you a step! Now all we have to do is plug it back into its shrine and Angel Island is saved!"

Knuckles turned to her in slight amusement.

"...You don't 'plug it in.'"

"However it's done--you'll do it! And we'll kick his creepy butt while we're at it! And we--WHOA!"

Controlled Omega charged at them from behind, but Knuckles quickly caught his clawed hands and struggled to push him away.

"Knuckles!"

"RRRGH! I've got him! Break those stinkin' crystals!"

Y/N turned to Kneecaps and nodded to him who nodded back. They began to break all the crystals covering Omega, but they just didn't leave a crack and only brought out small shards of the crystals.

"WHY! WON'T! THEY! SHATTER!"

"Man! These crystals are very hard! Can't you use your ice crystal sword?!" Kneecaps asked, kicking and kneeing the crystals.

"I want to, but I don't want to know what happens if both crystals were hit together and can't risk that!"

"Good point!"

Knuckles kept holding controlled Omega when he noticed something on the robot's chest. There was a crack on a crystal armor.

"We managed to crack the armor! If we focus on that one spot with enough force, maybe we can break through! We're only going to get one shot at this! Y/N! On three?"

"Ready! One!"

"Two!"

"THREE!"

With that, Y/N smacked controlled Omega away with her giant fist whip as he fell to the ground. Rouge quickly zoomed over and spin kicked controlled Omega on the cracked chest as Shadow went next and did a spin dash, Kneecaps jumping down with his knees down as his spiked kneecaps dug deeper into the crystal armor chest, Knuckles placed the spiked ball on the chest, then lastly, Y/N puts away her giant fist whip and activate her pink shield as she slammed the spiked ball against the crystal armor. Finally, the crystals cracked into pieces, freeing Omega as he kneel down.

"...YOU HAVE RESCUED ME. I AM OBLIGATED TO FEEL GRATEFUL."

"...You're welcome?" Knuckles panted.

"Any time." Y/N nodded, wiping the sweat off her forehead.

"You'd do the same for us, right?" Kneecaps asked, taking a deep breath.

Omega just shook the leftover crystals off of his body with a clear blunt word.

"NEGATIVE. EXCEPT FOR Y/N."

This left Knuckles and Kneecaps feel scared and concerned. Rouge and Shadow walked over to Omega.

"Welcome back, tin man." Rouge smiled, knocking the robot's armor.

"You put us through a lot of trouble." Shadow stated, crossing his arms.

"DUBIOUS APOLOGY: I AM SORRY. I HAVE EXTENDED A GREAT DEAL OF ENERGY IN SERVICE TO WALTER NAUGUS. TO MAKE AMENDS, I WILL NOW EXPEND EQUAL AMOUNTS OF ENERGY IN DESTROYING WALTER NAUGUS."

They all walk down the stairs where Knuckles went as he lead the way towards the barricade entrance.

"He's behind here! The crystal is too thick to punch through, but--"

Omega activate his armed gun.

"STAND ASIDE, INFERIOR MAMMAL."

He then fired at the crystals, destroying it before they all ran inside. The room brightened green and it revealed Naugus has indeed restored the Master Emerald.

"Hurry! Before he taps into the Master Emerald's power!" Knuckles exclaimed as everyone got into their fighting stance.

"Step away from the gem, ugly bastard!" Y/N growled.

"Ah-ah-ah! Finders keepers, children." Naugus grinned.

"Are we too late? Can he even use its power? Should we fall back?" Kneecaps asked.

"I...I don't know! I can't tell!"

Team Dark began to charge at Naugus.

"Don't hesitate! Blitz and overwhelm him!" Shadow ordered.

Y/N immediately tried to stop them.

"Wait! He might--!"

"HAHAHA! Such bravado!" Naugus laughed and blasted out magic towards them, blinding them.

Once he's done, he tilted his hat down with a green glint in his eye.

"A minute ago, I would've been at your mercy, but now? Now you--and the entire world--are at my mercy! HAHA! HAHAHA!"

Everyone are trapped and frozen in the crystals as they can't move a muscle.
