Weeks have gone by and a lot of stuff happened. Sally's parents had returned early from their world tour because Antoine that had gone with them was actually Anti-Antoine aka Patch. He tried to poison the king but his plan failed and instead it went to Antoine's father who's poisoned and passed away. Sonic along with Y/N went to Anti-Mobius to find the real Antoine and made it back safely. Bunnie and Antoine are back together as real lovers. Y/N even gave Patch a good punch to the face and both of his eyes before sending him back to where he belongs.

Right now, Y/N and Kirby are helping Hope and Rosie hang the laundry.

"It's such a beautiful day we'll have a picnic later, Hope! You're more than lucky to join us Y/N and Kirby!"

"Sure. That would be great."

"Awesome, Rosie!" Hope smiled. "I just love picnics!"

They were just hanging the clothes when suddenly everything was covered in dark shadow.

"Hey! What happens to the sun?!"

"Oh, my!"

Y/N looked up and glared to see an egg-shaped ship heading straight for the village.

"Hope, stay here with Rosie. I got some bone to pick with. Let's go, Kirby."

"Pooteetah." Kirby saluted and hopped onto her shoulder before Y/N zoomed off towards the village.

"Look! A Robotnik ship!!"

"He wouldn't dare come here, would he?!"

"It's him! It's really him!"

"What do we do?!"

"I dunno! Sound the alarm? Attack?"

"Somebody get Sonic and Y/N!"

Y/N made her way towards Tails and Rotor and noticed Eggman walked right in front of them. He stopped and looked at Y/N. Y/N immediately held the handle of the whip waiting for a fight when he suddenly walked away and headed off somewhere.

"I suggest we do nothing—until he either makes trouble or we hear from the king!" Rotor suggested.

"Rotor!! But—but— we're the Freedom Fighters!" Tails exclaimed, looking at him like he had lost his mind.

"But what?! Apparently he's committed no hostile action—"

"He's evil!"

"And until he does, we treat him as we would any visitor!"

"ARE YOU NUTS?! You think Sonic would agree with that a game plan?!"

Y/N placed a hand on Tails' shoulder.

"I agree with you, Tails. There's no way Eggman will come in peace unless he means it. We should go after him and see what he is up to."

"Pooteetah." Kirby nodded.

Tails blushed at the touch of his shoulder and smiled.

"Yeah. That would be great. Thanks, Y/N."

They then took off after Eggman until they found him stop at Sonic's house. Eggman was about to knock on the door when Sonic stepped out.

"Awww, mom! It's not like I was going to— Awwp!! You!!"

"You were expecting your precious Princess Sally or your dear sister Y/N?" Eggman grinned.

Sonic charged him, but before he could hit him Eggman flipped him over his shoulder. Sonic landed on his face.

"Learned some new moves since the last time? Stand back, everyone!! Give up, old man!"

Sonic goes to attack him again when Eggman flipped him again.

"Hai!"

"Let's see you try that again!"

Y/N raised her eyebrow in confusion. Eggman would never fight like that. He would just laze around and let the robots do all of his work while he stand by and watch. She took a closer look again as Eggman managed to hit Sonic through his spin dash. Y/N's eyes widen in realization.

"Sonic! Stop! That's not the real Eggman!"

"Wha?!"

"Smart girl you have, Sonic." Fake Eggman grinned.

Sonic jumped and goes to kick him straight in the face when he fazed through him.

"Sis is right. Neat trick. Where did you hide the mirrors?"

"I may be desperate, hedgehog, but I'm not stupid! Now that you've trashed my 3-D holographic solidifier with a lucky kick, why don't we get down to business and discuss the reason for my being here!"

Y/N steps and stands next to Sonic as their parents walk of the door. Kirby gave the Fake Eggman a glare with his tongue sticking out.

"In word—survival! Namely, my own!"

"Good one! Pull your fat out of the fire!"

"I wouldn't quite put it in those terms, but that would be the generals idea, yes!"

"Do you realize how absurd you sound?!" Jules exclaimed.

"My entire situation as beyond absurd, but here we are! As it stands, I have just under fifteen hours left!"

"Then what?" Y/N asked.

"That's just it! I'm not sure, but the message I received didn't exactly inspire one with much optimism for a long life!" Fake Eggman said.

"Which brings us to the question, what has my son and my daughter to do with any of this?!" Jules demanded.

"Jules, looking better than ever! How's your brother feeling? Still guilty over helping me robotize millions? However, your son and your daughter has been the only consistent thorns in my side over the past decade—! Since they were able to mask life miserable for me, I was hoping Sonic and Y/N could do the same to whoever's after me!"

"Why should Sonic and Y/N go along with any here-brained scheme you've cooked up?"

"At least with me, you know the devil you're getting!! Besides, I can get you out of that tin can, Jules!"

"How would we know you're not trying to trick us? Last time I saw, you tried to trick Knuckles into believing you can change." Y/N glared suspiciously at him.

"I cross my heart I'm not tricking you. You'll see once you and Sonic come soon. Feel free to bring a friend with you."

With that, the hologram of Eggman disappeared.

Sonic, Y/N, and Rotor are now flying in an egg-shaped ship. Kirby had to stay with Y/N's parents for his safety much to his dismay.

"Please tell me again how we're not sticking our necks in a noose!" Sonic demanded.

"I wish I could, Sonic, but if there is a force than Robotnik to be reckoned with, then we need to learn all we can no matter what happens to us!" Rotor said.

"I agree with Rotor on this one. We don't have a choice but to check it out." Y/N said.

"For the record, I am doing this for our father, and not as some fact-finding mission!"

"That I agree too." Y/N added.

They then landed as they got out of the ship.

"MY APOLOGIES FOR THE ROUGH LANDING, BUT THE REMOTE CONTROL SYSTEM ISN'T AS SMOOTH AT THE CONTROLS AS THE HOLOGRAM YOU WRECKED!"

"Yeah, yeah! Whatever! Let's just get on with it!"

The metal door opened to reveal the real Eggman.

"At last! Welcome to my humble abode, ladies and gentlemen! Make yourselves comfortable while I access the electronic logs for our dear Rotor!"

"'Dear Rotor'?" Y/N questioned.

"He know something we don't?" Sonic asked.

"I refuse to dignify that with a response!" Rotor protested.

"One can't be too careful, y'know!"

"BEEP - BEEP - BEEP... INCOMING, DR. ROBOTNIK!"

"On screen, A.D.A.M.!"

The screen showed that 'You now have exactly 12 hours before SYSTEM SHUTDOWN'.

"'System shutdown'? Does that mean you're biting the big one?" Sonic asked.

"Wouldn't that make your day?" Eggman sassed. "No, my best guess is a malevolent force whose presence made itself known only recently!"

"Yeah? In what way?" Y/N asked.

"You could say it was a demonstration of a technology I didn't believe possible anymore!"

"This is like pulling teeth! What kind of tech?!" Sonic demanded.

Suddenly, they heard a loud thum.

"That sound—coming closer! I knew it!! You sucked us into a trap, didn't you?!"

"For what it's worth, on my word as a demonic, scheming evil genius, I swear to you I don't know the cause of that sound! Best guess I would say it's a robot, but I doubt it's one of mine!" Eggman exclaimed, looking scared.

"What? Then..." Y/N started.

The door crashed opened to reveal the lady robot called Mecha.

"Mecha?!" Eggman exclaimed in shock.

"WHY FATHER, HOW ON MOBIUS COULD YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN YOUR DARLING DAUGHTER?!"

"I could have sworn she washed away into the sewers!" Sonic exclaimed.

"This is not good." Y/N said, brining out her giant fist whip.

Mecha flicked Rotor away.

"Rotor!"

"OUT OF MY WAY SEA LION! FATHER AND I HAVE A LOT TO TALK ABOUT!"

"Well?" Eggman asked to the hedgehog siblings.

"Well what?"

"Do something! I didn't bring you here to stand around!"

Sonic and Y/N sighed.

"It goes against my better judgement, but we're gonna do it to it!!"

Sonic grabbed the water hose before he and Y/N charged Mecha. Mecha fire laser eyes at them which they dodged it.

"You missed! Missed again!"

"I'm curious how you survived our last get-together, I guess I'm not that curious after all!"

Sonic and Y/N wrapped the water hose and the giant fist whip together around Mecha. Mecha started to suddenly spin like a tornado, causing them to go flying.

"Whoa!! How come I never get the easy ones?!"

"Not everything is easy, idiot!!"

"Rotor! Look out!"

Sonic crashed into Rotor while Y/N crashed into the wall. They then fell unconscious. Mecha turned to Eggman who flinched.

"AND NOW FATHER, IT IS TIME."

"Time? Time for what?"

"TIME TO PAY FOR YOUR CRIMES AGAINST THE KINGDOM OF ACORN!"

"You're betraying me? How is that possible?! Wait!! I thought I had twelve more hours!"

"WHY DON'T YOU QUERY A.D.A.M. REGARDING THE TWELVE HOUR DELAY BROADCASTING THE TRANSMISSION??"

"Twelve hour delay?! But that would mean—"

"AFFIRMATIVE. MY MASTER IS NOW IN CONTROL."

As she said that, the clones of Neo Metal Sonic surrounded Eggman.

Sonic, Y/N, and Rotor slowly woke up only to find chaos as the Neo Metal Sonics are messing around the place crashing everything.

"Whoa!!! Metal Sonics!!! An army of 'em!" Sonic exclaimed in shock.

"More like Neo Metal Sonics!!" Y/N exclaimed.

"Ol' robo-butt's really into overkill, isn't he? I may like the design, but I can't let you guys run wild!"

One of the Neo Metal Sonics stopped in front of Sonic.

"MY SENSORS INDICATE YOU ARE BIOLOGICAL!"

Neo Metal Sonic raised his hand in front of other Neo Metal Sonic.

"HOLD, TROOPER SEVEN! YOU ARE ADDRESSING MODEL ONE!"

"'Model one'?"

The Neo Metal Sonics went back to do what they were doing.

"You have any clue what that walking pile of circuits is talking about?"

"No idea."

"None whatsoever!"

Sonic, Y/N, and Rotor ran out of the now destroyed lab.

"They're trashing the place! So they're either out of control or robo-butt isn't their creator!"

"Make that both!!"

"Who would possibly build them if not Robotnik?" Rotor asked.

"That's just it! None of the usual suspects I come up with makes any sense!"

"We gotta go and figure things out at Knothole!" Y/N said.

"Sounds like a plan!"

They were about to head into the egg-shaped ship when it started to take off already.

"Shall we give chase?" Sonic asked.

"You don't have to ask me twice." Y/N said, grabbing Rotor by the hand before they zoomed off to Knothole.

Sonic, Y/N, and Rotor are now heading into the castle as they're called by Uncle Chuck to meet him. Kirby tagged along after Y/N came back for him. They're walking downstairs when they saw Sally's brother, Elias was talking to Uncle Chuck.

"...And the nature of this project—?"

"I didn't even know this place was down here!" Sonic said.

"Me neither." Y/N said.

"Sonic, Y/N, and Rotor! Is either one of you involved with Sir Charles' project?" Elias asked, turning to them.

"Uhh— This is my first time to the dungeon!"

"What project are you talking about, Elias?" Y/N asked.

"Pooteetah??" Kirby questioned, tilting his head.

"This was started by your father and I. It's time you, Sonic, and Y/N are brought up to speed. Sonic, Y/N, and Rotor are here because I sent for them, as this concerns kingdom security!" Uncle Chuck explained.

"The kingdom stands threatened? From whom?" Elias asked.

"A better question would be from what? When the kingdom's greatest warrior had vanished without a trace, the consensus was that it would required a special defense force to replace him, and so, one was built, fashioned in his image as an extra deterrent. But upon Sonic's and Y/N's return from the Metarex battle, the project was deemed unnecessary and eventually abandoned."

"If you secured the defense force, then where is it?" Elias asked.

"A good question, anticipating the awesome power we would be unleashing, several fail-safes were installed as a precaution!"

Uncle Chuck showed them the map of the Knothole from the computer. There are red dots showing they are coming close to Knothole.

"The latest in fiber-optic technology was utilized to allow for tracking and visual monitoring, and even in the event of a loss of control the means to abort their operation!"

"Is someone messing with the transmission?" Sonic asked.

Y/N took a closer look as Uncle Chuck pressed the button as he was able to fix it and it reveals the Neo Metal Sonics are heading straight for Rosie's house! Y/N's eyes widen in fear and realization.

"Hope!!"

Y/N immediately skated away as Kirby held onto her shoulder.

"Sis! Wait up!" Sonic yelled, running after her.

Once they made it to Rosie's house, they could have sworn they saw Shadow go inside the house.

"YOU TWO, DEAL WITH THESE TWO, WHILE WE CONTINUE TO EXECUTE THE PRIME DIRECTIVE!"

Two Neo Metal Sonics charged Sonic and Y/N.

"Hi, guys! How about we swap a spin move or two and call it day?"

Sonic and Y/N jumped over them as the robots crashed into each other.

"Didn't think you would!"

Shadow then came out not too long to help Sonic and Y/N fight off the robots. Y/N turned and was relieved to see Rosie and Hope okay as they hold each other close. Y/N jumped away from the claw of Neo Metal Sonic and punched him off with her giant fist whip as he was sent flying towards the other Neo Metal Sonic. Shadow dodged it as they crashed into each other.

"Stay down, child! Sonic and Y/N will save us!"

Suddenly, Sonic was head locked.

"One thing my Unc didn't program into you 'bots is how to be way past cool!"

Sonic spin dashed the robot away from him. Y/N's eyes widen to the robot was about to crash into Hope! Kirby's eyes widen to. She immediately goes in front of Hope and Rosie with her arms spread out. Shadow's and Sonic's eyes widen to see Y/N was about to get crushed.

"Y/N!/Sis!"

Before it hit her, Y/N's ruby starts to glow again and creates a pink bubble-like shield, surrounding herself, Kirby, Hope, and Rosie.

The robot crash into the bubble and shatters, leaving them unharmed. Shadow and Sonic looked on in shock and awe.

"Wow! That's so cool! Thank you, Y/N!" Hope said.

Sonic tapped on the pink bubble.

"I didn't know you can do that, sis."

"I-I have no idea I did that." Y/n stuttered, looking surprised.

"Pooteetah!" Kirby gasped in awe.

"Wow..." Shadow said, looking speechless.

"I think your necklace explained this." Rosie said, pointing at the ruby necklace as it glows.

Y/N looked down and Rosie was right. She took the ruby in her finger, staring at it.

"Do you think you can try unbubble us?" Hope asked.

Y/N nodded and closed her eyes to make the bubble disappear. It listened to her command as the pink bubble slowly remove them and went back into the ruby.

"Thank you again for saving our lives, Y/N." Rosie said, grabbing Y/N's hand.

"No problem. Now, we should get you to the castle for safety. Not sure how many Neo Metal Sonic are coming. Let's go, boys." Y/N said, carrying Hope while Kirby lightly pushed Rosie by the back to help her up.

"Right!" Sonic nodded, carrying Rosie.

"Y-Yeah.." Shadow nodded.

The three hedgehogs zoomed off through the forest. They saw the Chaotix fending off the robots as they run or skate past them. Shadow decides to help them get to the castle faster as he held his hand out, creating Chaos Control as the big green portal appeared in front of them. Knuckles looked on shock that Shadow can do that as they disappeared.

Meanwhile, back at Castle Acorn, five minutes ago...

"Any sign of the invaders, Commander D'Coolette?" Elias asked, climbing up the ladder.

"Not yet, sire! Considering zhe tracking system shows zthem moving tres fast ala Sonic." Antoine said. "Zhe real mystery is why zhey had yet to be sighted! Why zhe delay?"

All of the sudden, they see a big blue tornado far ahead.

"You spoke too soon, Commander! They they are tearing through Knothole center itself!

BTOOM!

"What th—?!!"

The portal opened to reveal Sonic, Y/N, Kirby, Shadow, Hope, and Rosie.

"Sonic! Y/N!"

"And Shadow! But how—?!?"

"Please give Miss Rosie and Hope some safety!" Y/N said, placing Hope down.

"I'll help with that." Sally said, walking in to guide them.

"Now what?" Shadow asked.

"That's what I aim to find out!" Sonic said.

"Sonic! Y/N! Thank the source you two're alright!" Elias said, walking over to them.

"That's about all I'll be thankful for!"

"We're fine." Y/N said with a smile.

"We're still trying to figure why your whacked-out defense project was ever green-lighted in the first place!" Sonic said. "Did any of the geniuses around here ever consider if anyone could breach our cyber-security measures since ol' robo-butt would be just the megalomaniac to do so?!"

"Just because he created Metal Sonic many times over doesn't mean he owns the patent!"

"And it doesn't give anyone else the right to involve me in their crackpot schemes!"

"Calm down, Sonic." Y/N placed a hand on his shoulder.

"I wasn't the one who authorized the project! We'll deal with that later! We have more urgent matters to attend!"

"By 'we,' you mean 'me and sis'...! We're on it!"

Sonic runs off in a flash with a trail of fire. Y/N and Shadow runs or skates after him. Once they made it, they saw Sonic being beaten up and overwhelmed by the Neo Metal Sonics. Y/N punched the robots off with her giant fist whip while kicking them as she tried to come and help Sonic, but there's too many of them. One managed to knock her off and grabbed her the neck and held her in the air. Y/N struggled to get out of its grip as the grip tightened more slowly. Kirby jumped out of her shoulder and tried to poke its eye to make the robot let go, but it was unfazed. Espio and Knuckles noticed Y/N is in trouble and ran after her. They managed to punch or slash the robot before Y/N lost her breath as the parts were flying along with her and Kirby. Espio and Knuckles both caught Y/N and Kirby at the same time.

"Thanks. That was close." she said.

Kirby nodded with a smile and splutter.

"No problem." the boys said in unison and immediately glare at each other.

Y/N jumped down from their grip and noticed Sonic is still dealing with the robots. She was about to go back and fight when all of the robots suddenly collapsed on the ground with Sonic who's looking tired. She turned to see it was Shadow who stood there shocked, staring at his hands.

"I don't understand! All I did was raise my hand and now all are demobilized! How is this possible?"

"Chaos control?"

Y/N and Shadow turned to see Knuckles as he walks over to Shadow along with Y/N.

"And you are...?"

"Knuckles the Echidna of the Chaotix. You don't need any introduction, Shadow."

"You know nothing of Chaos Control, Knuckles. I require a chaos emerald to perform that technique."

"I think it's because it's already here inside you. You don't need any object when you have the ability to control." Y/N said, placing a hand on his chest.

"You think so?" Shadow said, blushing a little.

"I'm sure. You are the ultimate life form after all."

"Can we turn down the volume? Ooh, my head..."

"Sonic! Thank goodness you're okay."

Y/N ran over to her brother and hugged him. Shadow glared at Sonic, feeling a little unhappy to get to feel her touch.

"Finished resting, blue hedgehog?"

"Shut up, faker."

"Boys, knock it off."

"Pooteetah." Kirby sighed, knowing boys will be boys as Y/N told him.

"You two keep gossiping. We're off to save the day!" Knuckles waved them before running off with his Chaotix. "See you, Y/N!"

"See you!!"

"Thanks for the save, Shadow! I owe you nothing." Sonic said before running off. "Come on, sis!"

"Then we're even, Sonic." Shadow smirked.

"See you again, Shadow. Don't be a stranger." Y/N smiled and followed after her brother with Kirby on her shoulder.

"See you, Y/N." Shadow smiled back before walking away.

Sonic, Y/N, and Kirby made it back to Acorn Castle.

"Our conquering heroes returns!" Bunnie said.

"They have again acted with honor!"

"Aren't Sonic and Y/N amazing?" Sally smiled and blushed "Especially, Sonic..."

"Nobody way past cooler, that's for sure!" Tommy smiled.

"Mom! Dad!"

Sonic and Y/N hugged Bernadette and Jules with Kirby joining in the hug.

"I'm so happy to see you again, my babies!"

"Same here, son and daughter!"

Jules and Bernadette gave Kirby pats on the head, making him giggle.

Elias stepped in with two black boxes in hand.

"If I may be permitted to interrupt, I have a few words to say on behalf of the kingdom!"

"King Elias! But of course, sire!" Jules said.

Elias revealed two golden medals.

"Now then, Sonic and Y/N, on behalf of a very grateful kingdom, I'd like to reword you two our Medal of Honor for services rendered above and beyond the call of duty!"

Sonic and Y/N bowed down to Elias as he placed the medal around their neck.

"We couldn't have taken them all out, your highness! There must have been at least—"

"And Shadow was the one who—"

"Nonsense! Sir Charle's video logs have a complete record of your actions! Further more, you are now hereby assigned the rank of gentleman-and-lady-at-arms, along with all its attendant obligations and privileges!"

Sonic and Y/N shook hands with Elias.

"I'll explain what that means later! Right now, I believe celebrations are in order! Congratulations, Sonic and Y/N!"

"Well, I-I've got no clue what to say—"

"Me either."

"I guess you what this means, don't you, hon?" Jules asked, looking over his children.

"Yes, hard as it is to admit!" Bernadette said.

"They're not our little ones anymore!"

"I know! They're our little-ones-at-arms!"

"So who wants to party?!!!" Sonic and Y/N together yelled out with a cheer.

"Pooteetah!!" Kirby cheered.

Everyone else cheered in agreement.
