Metropolis Zone, in the skies above Westside Island...

"Last chance—any word from Bunnie?" Sonic asked, standing on the wing of the Tornado next to Y/N and Kirby.

"Negative. I can't reach her, and she's not called *KZZT!*"

"Then... it's likely she's lost her cover and she's been captured." Tails said.

"I don't know. That's not like her to get captured. She must have something planned." Y/N said.

"We'll see, sis. We'll just have to go down there and politely ask the Egg Army to let her go."

"'Politely ask,' he says... Keep the Tornado out of range, T-Pup. I'll call you for pick-up."

"Bark-Bark!"

Sonic, Y/N, Kirby, and Tails jump off the Tornado as they dodge the incoming lasers from the machines.

"Hahaha! Think they noticed us?" Sonic laughed.

"No time for messing around. We've got to get straight to the Command Tower..." Y/N said as they easily take down the Egg Army Mobian soldiers as they pass by. 

"...and find out where she's being held and yadda yadda yadda. I've done this hero thing enough times to know the drill." Sonic said, already knowing what she's going to say.

They then made it inside the Command Tower where they stop to see the big white Mobian soldier and a female Mobian bunny. But for some reason, Y/N recognize her.

"Hey! You've got tassels. I bet you're important!" Sonic said, pointing at him.

"Ack! How'd you get up here so fast?!"

"Somehow you've never heard of me...?"

"Lock us down! They're not escaping!"

The Mobian bunny punched the red button, causing the big door behind them to close.

"Okay, dude? I don't like walloping Egg Soldiers like you. You're in a tough spot—I get that. But we're here to rescue a friend of ours, and we all know how this is going to end. So work with us on this, man."

"You can't intimidate me! I take orders from Dr. Eggman!"

"Uh-huh. 'Of course, doctor! You want fries with that?'"

Y/N giggled at his joke.

"Grrr—ATTACK!"

But the Mobian bunny didn't attack Sonic and instead attacked him as she punched him hard in the stomach.

"I-I... knew... there... was a... spy..."

She walked over to the mic.

"This is Scarlett. We've got Sonic the Hedgehog and Y/N the Hedgehog sealed in the command room. Do not open the door! Get everyone armed and in position first! Now then..."

She removed the helmet to reveal Bunnie D'Coolette.

"...Howdy, guys. Feels like it's been ages."

Tails and Y/N hugged her.

"Bunnie!!"

"You're alright!"

"Sho' am. Ah take it this was your idea for a rescue? Charge on in, get locked in a room and end up surrounded?"

"Hey, we found you, didn't we? So far my plan's going perfectly."

"You hadn't reported in for so long, we thought you must have been caught. And now... we've blown your cover..." Tails said.

"Don't worry yourself none. This is partly my fault, too. This guy was gettin' suspicious, so I had to go deeper under cover. All outgoin' transmissions were closely monitored. Ah knew ah was past due checkin' in, but ah was so close to gettin' what I came here for."

Bunnie removed the suit as she was in her pink bodysuit with no sleeves and has robotic parts that are more shiny and different and looking pretty sharp herself.

"But what's done is done. Ah bought us a li'l but of time. Lemme get out of this awful uniform. How's everybody else?"

"'Twan's good. He's getting Uncle Chuck to Spagonia."

"And Rotor's almost got the Sky Patrol up and running! I'll let Nicole speak for herself."

"I'm still functioning for the most *KZZT!*"

"Aw, darlin', what happened to you?"

"Long story *KZZT!*"

"Sally's still on her mission..." Sonic said.

"Ah don't like Sal lingerin' on the Death Egg."

"...and we've lost track of Amy." Y/N added.

"Ah like that even less. We need to wrap things up here and check up on 'em."

"Rotor said you were looking into a shield generation for the Sky Patrol, right?" Tails asked.

"Right. The Egg Army here has a replacement for the Death Egg. This base is primarily for R&D stuff."

"Wait—so these guys are geeks first, soldiers second? Man—I feel even worse for running over them. And your poor 'boss'...!" Sonic said.

"I honestly don't feel bad for them, since they join the wrong side." Y/N said with an innocent smile.

"Don't feel so bad, hon. They were tryin' to shoot you. They just finished the generator today, and ah was workin' on a way to nab it 'fore it gets shipped off. But now that y'all are here, everything's gonna be locked down tight. And your usual plan of 'run fast, hit hard' ain't gonna get us in."

Sonic punched his hand with a smirk.

"What if I ran really fast and hit it really hard?"

"Haha! Cut it out! This is serious! He's right—The Egg Army ain't gonna wait outside forever. Lemme sync up with Nicole, and we'll come up with a plan."

Bunnie brought out her robotic arm as she opened something out of her wrist and clicked on it. Just as she was done, they heard a loud clang from the giant door, and voices of Egg Army are heard.

"We're ready to move on the hedgehogs. Unlock the doors!"

Bunnie quickly head to the mic.

"Uhh... Negative! They're too strong!"

"Where's the foreman?"

"Sonic and Y/N took him down... and the door controls! Stand by while ah..."

"You can't handle him on your own! We're coming in!"

Now this is not good.

"So... about that plan?" Sonic questioned.

"Well, there's only one way..." Y/N said, smirking at them.

Sonic and Bunnie smirked while Kirby punched his hand in excitement. Before the Egg Army knew it, Sonic, Y/N, and Bunnie jumped out of the building as they zoom past them.

"See? 'Run fast' is always part of the plan."

"Ah ain't runnin'—Ah'm flyin'!"

"Same difference!"

"Let's go, go, go!!"

Bunnie and Y/N brought out their green and pink shield as they blocked the incoming lasers that are firing them and Sonic spin dashed the Egg Army. Bunnie blasted out the flying robot stars with her hand cannon, but quickly moved away from the giant claw by the red robotic crab. Sonic and Y/N quickly helped by spin dashing through the crab robot with the help of the whip that help tear apart its limbs.

"Thanks, Sugah-Hogs! For the claw, I think I can find a use for it!" Bunnie said, flying off with the giant robotic claw and hitting one of the Egg Army with it.

They then stop to the giant yellow like screw door.

"This is a door?" Sonic questioned.

"Yup. See why ah said we couldn't just bust our way in?" Bunnie pointed out.

"Eh, I've spin-dashed bigger."

"Oh, you have not!" Bunnie and Y/N laughed out.

"Halt! You are completely surrounded! Surrender now and beg for mercy from the Eggman Empire!"

But they didn't look afraid as they just smile mischievously.

"Goodness! When you put it that way, I guess we have no choice!"

"We're in position, Sugar."

"Now's your time to shine, Tails!"

The vault doors behind them opened and before they could get in, the ground began to rumble again and buildings are starting to collapse.

"Tails? It's Bunnie! What in tarnation's goin' on?!" Bunnie exclaimed.

"RRRGH! It's another earthquake! I can't—!"

"Just go on! We'll meet'cha at the Tornado!"

"Get there safe, Tails!"

"Emergency! Emergency! All Egg Soldiers to your secure shelters! Emergen—*SHVK!*"

Bunnie flew towards the mechanic face of Eggman that's the source of the power.

"Ah'm mag locked to the generator!"

"Great, but we're kinda sealed in here. We couldn't bust in, so I don't think we can—"

"Sonic!" Y/N said, pointing at the roof of the building that was crashed to reveal a hole for a way out.

Bunnie then grabbed Sonic and Y/N with Kirby who was holding onto Y/N the whole time with the mechanic head of Eggman.

"Never mind! Looks like these quakes are useful for a change. Gun it!"

They then meet Tails as they jump onto the Tornado with T-Pup piloting it.

"This is all... disturbingly familiar..." Sonic said.

"What was that?" Bunnie questioned.

"I said... this is like the quakes in Wood Zone. Chuck thought Eggman was behind it, but..."

"Eggman? Ah don't think so... Recently there'd been a lot of reports comin' in from other Egg Army bases 'bout stuff like this."

"He wouldn't be crazy enough to endanger his own bases, would he...?"

"I don't know, bro. Something's definitely wrong with this earthquake that's causing."

Sonic sighed, placing a hand on his face.

"What am I saying? Of course he's that crazy. Let's just get back to the Sky Patrol and install his doohickey."

"That sounds fine to me, Sugar-Hog!"

Y/N looked over the places that's been collapsed, feeling that whatever Eggman did to this world is bound to happen soon. She can't believe Eggman was foolish enough to want to take over the world and his arrogance caused this.

Much later—Aboard the Sky Patrol

"Sugar-Twan! Ah thought you were headed to Spagonia?" Bunnie greeted.

Antoine approached them. Y/N noticed he's wearing the wedding ring just like in the Prime Zone.

"Oui. I escorted Chuck and returned here tout de suite. I *yawn* needed to see you again."

He placed a hand on her shoulder, looking at her with loving eyes.

"You were almost romantic up until that yawn."

"I was having ze rough flight here."

"Mine was rougher."

"This is so cute...!" Y/N mentally squealed.

"Now, then—we're here all safe 'n' sound. What were y'all talking about back in Metropolis Zone?"

"It's a long story, and there's no easy way to prepare anyone for it. Y'see..."

"This is also the reason I am coming here quickly. I should be helping her through this." Antoine said.

"You're absolutely right. Here." Sonic said, handing him the small computer.

"I... I'll get the generator to Rotor..." Tails said, walking away.

Antoine faced Bunnie who looked a little confused.

"Take Nicole, mon amour. I know that I am here."

"Alright. This better explain why y'all are actin' so weird."

Bunnie then took the small computer and memories came back to her as her body was electrified for a second and the wedding ring was brought out around her finger. She was then brought back to reality as she was shocked at what she just saw and hugged Antoine.

"W-We were in... another world... We're married and..."

"I know..."

Sonic and Y/N left them alone to get their mind together as they check on Nicole.

"How about you, Nicole? Any better?"

Nicole revealed herself as she's now a hologram with half of her body out.

"Much better. All I need now is for my database to be unscrambled. I just wish it din't come at the cost of my friends' mental well-being."

"It's rough. But we've got each other. We'll get through it. Don't blame yourself for it. It happens to everyone." Y/N assured.

"It may be a moot point in the end. I barely have any energies left over from the Genesis Wave. It... may come down to restoring either Sally or Amy."

"We'll cross that bridge when we come to it. First, we need to get them back here. So see if you can get in touch with Sal. And no more 'doom 'n' gloom', you hear me?" Sonic said.

"I'll do what I can."

Nicole then disappeared in the small computer before Sonic closed it.

"Let's just hope they're okay. We'll find them." Y/N said.

"No worries, sis. We'll get there."

"Yeah. Wherever Amy is, she better take care of herself."

Mobotropolis, Westside Island

Sonic, Y/N, Kirby, and Tails are flying in the Tornado towards the place as Nicole told them where both Sally and Amy had gone off to and found them fighting against Metal Sonic. Odd... But they could tell that this was Eggman's doing. Sonic and Y/N jumped off the Tornado with Kirby jumping down with them as they crash into Metal Sonic with a loud wham. The hedgehog siblings made their entrance with Kirby doing the same in a dramatic hero pose.

"Hey, ladies. Somebody call for heroes?"

"Oh, so now your show up?" Amy said with amused smile.

"As usual, your timing is perfect and maddening." Sally smiled.

"He's always late as usual for a dramatic entrance." Y/N said.

"Thanks for softening him up for us. C'mon, Clanky! Let's race!"

Metal Sonic glared at Sonic and they began to zoom off except for Y/N and Kirby as they clearly do not want to deal with that robot.

"That's it? We do all the work and he steals all the glory?" Amy frowned.

"Yeah, but he got Metal Sonic out of the city. Safety of the people first—"

"—glory second. You're right—as usual."

"Trust me, Amy. You know she's always right." Y/N chuckled.

"Says you, you're also always right. You know what's right and what's wrong. You even know what I need to wear."

Y/N just smiled and hugged them both along with Kirby.

"Whoa. What's this about? It's not like we're gone." Sally said in surprise.

"It's fine. I'm just happy to see you two safe and sound."

"Okay, you weirdo." Amy said.

"Hey!"

This made Sally and Amy giggled.

"C'mon, let's help those people."

Y/N and Kirby nodded as they checked the soldiers who are part of Freedom Fighters as they helped those who are hurt.

"...and get them to the hospit—AHH!"

Sonic zoomed back in the city and hugged Sally, carrying her in bridal style. He then placed her down, looking at her with loving eyes.

"Whoa! What's gotten into you?" Sally asked. "First Y/N, and now you?"

"I just... you look good, Sal. I missed you."

Amy coughed out to get his attention with a glare. Sonic playfully rolled his eyes and faced her, placing an arm around her shoulder.

"And I was worried about you. Where did you disappear to?"

"Oh! I... well... we were... Blaze says hi!"

"Blaze? You mean you've met her after you suddenly disappear?" Y/N asked in slight shock.

"Yeah! She helped us get back home." Cream said.

"Chao!" Cheese nodded.

"Blaze? Oh, I get it! When the Genesis Wave thingie screwed up, it sent you to Blaze's world. That's where you've been." Sonic said.

"Yeah, we... Genes-what?"

"Sonic... You two're making less sense than usual." Sally said with confusion.

"Yeah-Yeah-Yeah. I'm going too fast. It's my thing. My point is— Amy's home, you're okay, and we've got important stuff to handle at the Sky Patrol."

"But first is to check in with the king." Y/N reminded. "Your dad's worried about you."

Everyone's back together as the whole team of Freedom Fighters as soon as they're back in Sky Patrol. Rotor shook hands with Sally.

"Welcome to our new home away from home, presenting—the Sky Patrol!"

"Very impressive! Nice work, Rotor."

"It was a labor of love, but Tails and I pulled it together. She's ready for launch! First, though, speaking of pulling things together..."

"Right."

Sonic held out the small computer where Nicole is.

"Nicole? Is something wrong...?"

"Long story, Sal. You'll get up to date... pretty quick. Nicole—Do you think you can restore them both?"

"Maybe. I'll have to share the circuit with both of them simultaneously. After that, the Genesis Wave energy will be spent."

"Okay. Amy! Sal! Quick story time before we try to save the world."

"Save the world? What's gone wrong now?" Amy questioned, walking over to them.

"You're not gonna remember this, but... to put it really simply, Eggman tried rewriting reality with something called the Genesis Wave. I tried to fix things, he got in my way, and our world was... changed. Anyway, it looks like one side-effect was that some of the leftover energy from the wave got transferred to Nicole, which threw her systems out of whack. But when she transfers that energy to us, it fixes her a bit, and we... well, we remember how the world used to be."

"Whoa. A whole different life?" Amy awed.

"Between the Special Zone and our interactions with Blaze and Silver, alternate timelines seem logical enough. What happens once we restore your database?" Sally said with a thought look.

"I'm hoping I'll be able to analyze everything and find out what's happened to our world." Nicole said.

"Y'all need to brace yourselves, tho'. It's a jarrin' experience by itself, but this other life... things were so different, Sally-Girl." Bunnie said, gripping her hand.

"Now, hold on. It almost sounds like you're trying to talk us out of this. If this restores Nicole, then there's no question about going forward. If the fate of the world is involved, that's doubly true. Given everything Sonic's said, it sounds like we've been given a second chance to save everyone. But I can't do it without all of you."

"Like you've gotta ask! We're the Freedom Fighters. As long as we've go each other, we can handle any crisis."

Sally and Amy fist bump.

"Okay. Just brace yourself, like what Bunnie said, okay? This is going to be shocking." Y/N said.

Sally and Amy reached for the small computer.

"Ready for this?"

"Who knows? Let's just get it over with."

"Alright. For Nicole, and for the world."

Once they touched it, they felt a sudden shock as they felt electrified a little as memories comes back to them. They then dropped the small computer as Sonic quickly catch it. They looked speechless and shocked.

"Oh my... We're in another world... and... I remember..."

Sally turned to Y/N.

"Y/N... I remember how sad you are when you... tried to save Knuckles' kind and how we left you alone when you needed to and... and..."

Sonic hugged Sally to calm her down, kissing her head.

"It's alright, Sal."

Y/N hugged Sally too after helping Amy up.

"Don't worry. I'm okay now."

"...Sonic. Y/N."

"Yes, Nicole?"

"Yeah? You doin' okay now that—"

"Launch the Sky Patrol! Now! The world didn't just get rewritten!" Nicole shouted, sounding very alarming.

Sky Patrol was then launched off to the sky as they're now high in the air.

"Take it easy, Nicole. What's the rush?" Rotor questioned, placing the warp ring on the small computer.

The glitch form comes out to reveal the full form of Nicole. She looked scared.

"This is... far worse than I anticipated. Analyzing what I now know about the dual realities, I've found it wasn't just the planet that was affected... not just our reality. The entire multiverse collapsed in upon itself."

"What...?" Y/N questioned, eyes wide.

"Pooteetah...?" Kirby questioned, feeling scared.

"Whoa—Hold on, Nicole. We save the world all the time!" Sonic said.

"Right! What do we do to stop it?" Tails said.

"Stop it? IT'S TOO LATE!!"

Y/N ran towards the window to see the whole world crumbling down before them as the loud rumble was heard and lava bursted out from the open crack of the hole like the volcano had erupted.
