Another week has gone by since they defeated the Iron Dominion as New Mobotropolis was almost back on its feet and what's most surprising of all is that Sonic and Tails found Dimitri, the former Grandmaster of the Dark Egg Legion. He had been betrayed by his granddaughters, Lien-Da and left for dead in the box. When Sally and Y/N heard his story and saw that he had regrets for his past mistakes, they decided to show him mercy, seeing him betrayed by his own family and didn't deserve this. What remained of his body as he was installed into the Science Center to keep his presence a secret while he recovered. He was currently preparing himself to apologize to Knuckles with the help of Y/N encouraging him.

Today, Y/N who's in her new outfit that she got from Dragon Kingdom (The one from chapter 41: "Y/N's Challenge". She will now be wearing that for the entire story), Kirby, Sonic, and Sally are flying in the Tornado towards the Wolf Pack Nation in the Southern Continent. They had been invited so they could become honorary members of the Wolf Pack. As for Kirby, the leader of the Wolf Pack was curious about this new friend of Y/N's. When they got here, they were greeted by the white wolf Canus as he hugged Sally and Y/N.

"It's good to see you, Canus!"

"Happy to see you are well, Princess!"

"Great seeing you again."

"Same to you, Y/N. You've grown stronger I see."

"Yep."

Sonic shook the female wolf's hand.

"Long time, no see, L-L-L-L-Lyco?"

"Leeta."

"Like I said—long time, no see."

"She's my identical twin. We get that a lot."

Leeta turned to Y/N and hugged her.

"Y/N, great to see you."

"Long time, Leeta." Y/N said, hugging her back.

She looked over to Kirby who's on Y/N's shoulder.

"Is this little friend of yours we've heard about?"

"Yep. His name is Kirby."

"Aw! He's so cute!!"

Leeta started petting Kirby, causing him to blush and giggle. After a good greeting, Canus escorted them into the city.

"Please come this way. The chief is eager to see you."

"Ditto! It's been just as long since we last saw—"

They arrived at the biggest house in the village and were greeted to see a familiar brown and gray male wolf.

"Lobo?" Sonic and Y/N questioned in surprise.

"We're glad to see you, too, of course, but..." Sally said, looking just as surprised as them.

"But you're confused. It's alright. Before I was roboticized, I was this pack's chief. I took back that title when my wife stepped down." Lobo said, opening the curtain for them to walk inside.

"Stepped down?... Since when did Lupe 'step down' from anything?" Sonic asked.

"Why would she do that?" Sally asked.

"Because my people asked me to step up as the grand chief of our new nation."

They turned to see Lupe in her chief outfit. Sally and Y/N went up to her and hugged her.

"That's wonderful! Congratulations!"

"Awesome!"

Lupe looked to see Kirby on Y/N's shoulder who gave him a cute smile.

"Who's this?"

"That's Kirby. He's the alien, but he's cute and can be deadly."

Kirby did a karate chop, causing Lupe to giggle and boop his nose. Sonic high fives Lupe.

"Nice, Lupe! But since when were you guys a whole nation?"

"After Dr. Robotnik's conquest, the packs were scatted and broken, and our city was destroyed. I helped bring us all back together here— in our ancestral homeland."

"You make it sound so simple." Lobo said, gazing at Lupe.

"Well, this is Lupe we're talking about. Forming and organizing a whole nation must be exhausting." Sally pointed out.

"It is, but..."

RRRARRGHH!

They turned around to see a gray female wolf that look like Lupe, the two human girls with blonde and orange hair, and a male wolf that look like Lobo who's holding a green ball.

"Give it back, Marcos!"

"No way!"

The female wolf tackled Marcos to the ground, trying to get the ball back.

"We were playing with that!"

"You mean, you were, Maria! Then Athena said I could have it!"

The blonde human girl pointed down at Marcos.

"Athena's mute, and you know it, you jerk!"

The three girls began to dog pile him.

"...My children are the hardest group to govern." Lupe sighed.

Y/N handed Kirby to Sally.

"Y/N?"

Y/N ignored her and marched over to the kids and whistled them really hard. The kids stopped wrestling and looked at her. She turned to Marcos.

"You're Marcos, right?"

"Yeah."

"Your sister were using it first, so give the ball back to them."

"But..."

Y/N gave him a stern look with a dark glare.

"Did I stutter? Give it back now."

Marcos silently handed the ball to Athena. Y/N then turned to the girls who flinched.

"And you girls promised to let Marcos have the ball when you're done, alright? I better not see any more fights or I'll take that ball away from you."

"Y-Yes, ma'am." Maria and Aerial said while Athena nodded.

"Good. Go back and play."

They then left. Lupe and Lobo looked at Y/N in amazement.

"Wow. She's good."

"Well, she is the most sternful and meanest babysitter. Better not mess with her when it comes to people causing fights." Sonic said as they mentally noted on that.

Later, they were all sitting down in a circle on the pillow, eating fruits.

"I'm sorry that only the three of your could come. All of the Freedom Fighters were invited." Lupe said.

"It was a matter of bad timing, I'm afraid." Sally said.

"Tails had already headed out with Bunnie and Antoine when we got your invitation." Sonic said.

"Rotor is busy with his duties as a council for trying to finalize our own new government, and Amy elected to stay behind and watch the city while we were gone." Y/N said.

"Perhaps it is for the best. Your induction will have to be informal since no one can find the ceremonial 'Ancient Onyx' right now."

"No doubt it was stolen by the greedy, savage Felidae." Lobo growled, clenching his fist.

Lupe looked at her husband with a hum and looking very serious.

"Who are the Felidae?" Y/N asked in wonder.

"Brutal cat tribes to the South who lay claim to the entire continent. Oral tradition tells of their violence against our ancestors generations ago. They rarely bother us these days, however."

Suddenly, Marcos and Aerial ran into the room, looking scared.

"Mom! Mom! Felidae warrior!"

"He's marching right into the city!"

Y/N, Kirby, Sonic, and Lupe went to the nearby window.

"Who would dare invade us alone?" Lupe demanded.

Y/N's eyes went wide to see Big walking into the village rather calmly as always with a fishing pole over his shoulder and Froggy on his head. She haven't seen him for a while.

"Hullo? Anyone?" Big called.

"Hey! It's Big!" Sonic exclaimed.

"Big? It's enormous!" Lupe said.

"No, Big is his name." Y/N said with a giggle.

A couple of wolf guards pointed their spears at Big, surrounding him.

"Stay back!"

"Don't move!"

"Okay." Big said.

Sonic zoomed in front of Big.

"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! I can vouch for this guy! Remember me, big guy?"

"Yup! You helped me save Froggy!"

"Ribbit!" Froggy greeted Sonic.

"That's right! So... Go ahead and tell these nice folks why you're visiting."

"To get that special black jewel thing."

This made the wolves pointed their spears at them and Sonic and Big put their hands up while Froggy hid.

"Maybe clarify that a bit?" Sonic asked.

"The Felidae are mad 'cause it's missing, so I came to see if the wolves have it...? Sorry."

"That's okay. Let's not make a habit of this, though."

"So the Felidae claim to not have the relic, either..." Lupe said.

Sally and Y/N and Kirby were now starting to get curious about this.

"No offense, Lupe, but what's the big deal about this rock?" Sonic asked.

"The Ancient Onyx is said to have preserved my people during the days of fury. It is a symbol of our perseverance and it is ours to rightfully reclaim."

"With your permission, Grand Chief, I'd like for us to look into this further." Sally said.

"Of course you have my support, but why do you want to get involved?"

"We need that rock to do that ceremony properly, don't we? (In addition to all that other stuff your just said.)" Sonic said.

"And we can act as a neutral party between the countries." Sally added.

"Ever the heroes. Very well, then."

"Sonic, I want you to take Big and talk to the Felidae. If Big can't vouch for you, I know you can handle yourself."

"Sounds good? What about you?"

"I want to follow up on something else first."

"I'll come with, Sally. To see what we're up against if not the Felidae." Y/N joined in along with Kirby who nodded.

"Alright then."

While Sonic and Big went to the Felidae city, Y/N, Kirby, and Sally went into the jungle as Y/N sliced off the green vines with her crystal ice katana. They were now standing in front of the statue of the Echidna warrior standing on top of the down cat.

"Ugh! It's that guy! Tikal's father. Never liked him in the first place." Y/N scowled in disgust.

"I'm with you on that one." Sally nodded.

"But poor Felidae." Y/N said, looking at the down cat underneath Tikal's foot.

They then went into the ruins as they look around and found the window. They looked through and were shocked to see the Dark Egg Legion members inside. Y/N and Sally looked at each other and nodded, knowing what they need to do. But before they could do that, a shadow loomed over them. They turned around and were face to face with Drago. A former member of the Destructix.

"Hey there, Princess. You and your friends out sightseeing?"

"Drago?!!" Y/N and Sally exclaimed in shock.

Drago slashed his claws at them, but Y/N deflected it with her crystal ice katana while Sally dodged it.

"Get back here!"

Y/N and Sally quickly ran away from him as Kirby held tightly on Y/N's shoulder. They stopped to see a Dark Legionar.

"Who...?!"

"Get them, Razorklaw!"

Razorklaw slashed at them, but Y/N brought out her pink shield to deflect the claws and made it hit Drago instead.

"Not me, you idiot!"

Drago tried to hit them, but Y/N tackled Sally out of the way as he hit Razorklaw instead.

"Oops... I-I-I mean, move!"

They started wrestling each other, ripping their black coats into shreds. Once it died down, they are now sleeveless as they had cybernetic arms and Razorklaw is wearing like Eggman's clothes.

"Yeah! Feast your eyes on the new and improved Grandmaster of the Dark Egg Legion!"

"Great..." Y/N mumbled.

Y/N and Sally turned around to see more Dark Egg Legions coming towards them.

"HA! Nowhere to run now, girls! What's it gonna be?"

Y/N glared and was about to fight them off when Sally ushered her.

"Y/N, go."

"What? I can't leave you here."

"You have to warn the others."

"But—!"

"That's an order!"

Y/N hesitated and nodded as she brought out her crystal ice katana and slashed at the Dark Egg Legion members, freezing their legs and quickly climbed up to the hole ceiling. She look back at Sally who gave her a nod with her arms up in the air as the Dark Egg Legions surrounded her. Y/N quickly got out and rocket skated away with Kirby holding on.

Y/N skated as fast as she can as she look around for any sign of her brother until she finally found him. She stopped to see Sonic is pacing around and Big is in between Lupe and what appears to be the queen of the Felidae named Hathor as they're arguing.

"GUYS! STOP!!!"

Everyone stopped and turned to see the panting Y/N and Kirby.

"Sis! Where's Sally?" Sonic asked, checking on her.

"She's in danger! She's trapped in the Echidna Ruins where the Dark Egg Legions are. Drago is here, including the wolves and maybe the Felidae I saw earlier."

"WHAT?!" Lupe exclaimed in shock.

"OUTRAGEOUS!" Hathor exclaimed in anger.

"If you don't believe me, then just follow me! We have to hurry before it's too late! It's life or death!"

"Pooteetah!!" Kirby exclaimed, pointing at the direction as he's frantic about Sally being in trouble.

"Very well. Let's get Sally."

"Very well. For your life."

"Let's go!!" Y/N shouted, grabbing Sonic as everyone head off to the Echidna Ruins.

Once they made it, the wolves began to howl, gaining attention of the Dark Egg Legions and Drago, Razorklaw, and Sally who smiled. The wolves and Felidae began to attack the Dark Egg Legions while Big goes to rescue Sally as Y/N told him to.

"Dark Egg Legion, you say?" Lupe asked.

"Yeah. Cyborg jerks spiced up with a side of treachery." Sonic explained, crossing his arms with a smile.

"Treachery...?"

"Watch." Y/N suggested.

"Hold him, Canus!" Lyco said to him who's holding the cloaked Dark Egg Legionar.

The hood revealed a grey and white wolf who had a robotic right eye as Lyco immediately recognized him.

"You! But why?"

"Heh. You shouldn't have dumped me, Leeta."

"I'm Lyco." Lyco said, glaring at him.

"And you shouldn't have tried to two-time twins." Leeta added, standing next to her twin sister.

"...There were many unaccounted for after the mass deroboticization. Even after we had settled, some had gone missing." Lupe said, glaring at the traitors of her kind. "I had blamed the doctor or the Felidae, but..."

"Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, Lupe." Sonic said.

"They changed. Like they always have. Especially, the echidnas. They care nothing but themselves." Y/N added, frowning. "I just wish they could see the consequences before they hurt themselves."

"Amusing as it is to have the wolves proven treacherous, it does not justify bringing them to these cursed grounds."

"You just don't get it, do you? At this, your majesty."

Sonic zoomed off and went past the Dark Egg Legionars, removing the hood to reveal the Felidae, but their eyes and faces were roboticized.

"Told you." Y/N said as Sonic zoom back to Queen Hathor who's shocked.

"So explain this to me— In your culture, what you wear makes you who you are, right? So what do those robes make them?"

"It makes them the vilest of traitors! Warriors! Show them no mercy!"

"That's one way to get her to understand." Y/N commented, making Lupe snicker.

Meanwhile, with Big who's standing over Sally with Froggy on his head. Sally smiled up at him.

"Yay! I found the princess and the gem! I did good!"

Drago lunged at him with his cybernetic claws out.

"Get away from there, you!"

"Big! Hit him!" Sally shouted.

"Okay."

Big punched Drago in the face and send him flying through the wall.

"Too hard?"

Razorklaw raised his claws, but Big grabbed him by the wrists.

"Freak! I will have your hide!"

"Um... No?"

Just then, Sonic and Y/N came both spin dashing Razorclaw in the stomach, pushing him away from Big. Kirby charged at Razorklaw who's about to get up with a battle cry and started biting his tail, causing him to howl in pain. He tried to pull him away until Kirby let him go and pushed him off as he crash against the wall.

"Back off, fuzzy!"

Sonic and Y/N landed dramatically.

"These guys are with us!"

"Sonic! There you are!" Sally smiled in relief.

"Yay!" Big cheered.

"I'm sorry I have to leave you behind. I wanted to be there for you." Y/N said, untying Sally while Kirby spitted out the fur he bit on the wolf.

"No need to apologize. It was my decision to tell you to do that. And you brought the wolf pack nation and the Felidae together for a timely rescue."

"Pooteetah!" Kirby hugged Sally who happily hugged back.

"Sorry for worrying you."

Sonic and Sally then held hands looking ready to kiss.

"Thanks to you and Y/N for saving the day again."

"We're not done just yet... but you're welcome."

Froggy then jumped in between them.

"I helped!" Big said.

"You did a good job saving Sally." Y/N said.

"Yay."

Behind them, Drago was on the ground and the few members of the Dark Egg Legion helped him up.

"Grandmaster Drago!"

"We're in trouble, Grandmaster! What do we do?"

Just then, they heard a beep from their cybernetics.

"ERGH! Strategic retreat. Fall back to the secret bunker!" Drago ordered.

"Good idea, sir!"

"I'm glad he's in charge!"

Sally then picked up the Black Onyx as they arrived outside and noticed the Wolf Pack Nation and the Felidae were about to fight each other.

"The Dark Egg Legion has been routed, but not defeated. Why do you make us let them go?"Lobo asked his wife.

"We came with a small strike force, Lobo. We aren't prepared for war. We have broken their hold on this place and struck fear into their hearts. That is enough for today." Lupe said.

"Likewise. But you are in the heart of our territory. Perhaps there is still a battle to be fought." Hathor said.

"No, there's been more than enough violence today." Sally disagreed, holding out the gem. "This is what you're all here for anyway, isn't it?"

"The Ancient Onyx!" Lupe and Hathor exclaimed.

"This gem is more than your ancestral relic. It is a symbol of precisely what's happened today."

Sonic whispered to Big.

"Watch this. She's good at this sort of thing."

"She's always good." Y/N corrected him with a smile.

Sally held up the black gem.

"With this one artifact, your two nations were nearly pitched into war. You would've been destroying each other while your real enemy waited in the shadows to attack hewn you were both weak. Your enemy saw the division between you and capitalized on it. They came together and became stronger than either of your nations could hope to be alone. But here today, you chose to come together yourselves. By setting aside your differences, you became the mightier power and not only stopped the Legion, but the ambitions of the Eggman Empire. Here's what I propose... Let the gem continue to rest here, out of both your hands. The Felidae will let it rest since this land is taboo, and the Wolf Pack Nation can retrieve it for either group with supervision. Let it be shared, and when not in use, held by no one at all."

Lupe and Hathor looked each other in silence for a few seconds.

"Too much has passed between our people in too short a time to reconcile it all with one gesture."

"Agreed."

Lupe and Hathor shook hands.

"It is, at that."

"But it is a start."

"And that's how it's done." Sonic smiled.

"Wow." Big awed.

"Ribbit." Froggy agreed.

"She's amazing alright." Y/N nodded.

That night at the Wolf Pack Nation City, Lupe adorned Sally, Sonic, Y/N, Kirby, and Big with feathers.

"As it was done generations ago, we induct those who have shown themselves to be brave, selfless, and truly belonging among our people. Tonight we welcome Sonic, Y/N, Kirby, Sally, and Big into the Wolf Pack Nation's equal brothers and sisters all."

The wolves cheered as Lupe, Sally, Y/N, Kirby, Sonic, and Big each place a hand on the Black Onyx.

"With the blessing of the Ancient Onyx, we raise our voices to the stars, so that the brothers and sisters who have left this world know that there are five more among us!"

AWOOOOOOOOO!

Sally leaned over to Sonic and Y/N and whispered to them.

"Sonic... Y/N... That looks like a Chaos Emerald. And given how important it's supposed to be..."

"Yeah, but there're only seven emeralds now. Me and sis know Chaos Emeralds."

"He's right. I don't feel the familiar energy of it. This one is different. And it's definitely not a Chaos Emerald. Don't what it is though."
