Sonic and Y/N are paying a visit to Bunnie and Khan at the Tommy Turtle Memorial Hospital. Sonic had a pink balloon with the words in yellow 'Get Well' and Y/N had a crochet Chao she made herself with a little help of Kirby as they entered her room with Khan behind them. Antoine and Dr. Quack are either side of her bed.

"Hey, Bunnie!"

"How are you feeling?"

"Howdy, Sugar-Hogs! Ah'm doin' just fine. Ah just needed a bit of rest, s'all."

"And an emergency influx of electrolytes and constant supervision through the night, but if you want to call that 'rest'..."

Khan brought out a bundle of roses to Bunnie.

"You never should've been in that kind of danger. I should have warned you, and for that, I'm sorry."

"Darlin', ah'm a Freedom Fighter. Ah've been in plenty of danger before, and ah don't plan to stop. Ah appreciate the flowers, though."

"They're quite nice. You didn't leave your own bed to get them and do exactly what I told you not to do, hmm?" Dr. Quack asked, eyeing him.

"Well..." Khan started nervously.

"Take it easy, Doc. Me and sis were with him the whole time." Sonic said.

"And that's supposed to comfort me? I have no problems with Y/N. You're a disaster magnet, kid."

Dr. Quack then checked Khan's pulse from his wrist.

"Magical possession is dangerous stuff. Techomagic just makes it worse. You both should've been in here the minute things calmed down."

"It was safer at Freedom HQ at the time, doc." Bunnie said.

"And I got her back here the second things cleared up. Literally!" Sonic added, pointing at himself.

That was enough for Dr. Quack to leave the room.

"I give up."

Bunnie turned to Khan.

"Ah mean it now, Sugah. Don't beat yerself up over this. We all make mistakes, and ah forgive you."

"Oui. I am having forgiven you as well." Antoine said.

"Thank you. I don't deserve it, but thank you."

Nicole then appeared in front of Sonic and Y/N.

"I'm sorry to disturb everyone..."

"No sweat, Nicole. What's up?" Sonic asked.

"I've been scanning for threats as far as the Great Forest and I've detected something large inbound."

"Really? Then, we're on our way." Y/N said and Nicole disappeared.

"We'll check it out. 'Twan, you stay here with your wife." Sonic said.

"If's it's trouble, give 'em one for me."

Sonic and Y/N then left the room as Bunnie pointed at Khan.

"And that goes double for you, mister."

"It will be my pleasure."

Khan goes out of the room to follow Sonic and Y/N when he was stopped by Dr. Quack who gave him a stern glare as if daring him to make one more move.

"Or I could go back to my room and rest like the doctor told me to."

"You'll bee with us in spirit." Sonic assured him.

He and Y/N then zoomed out to the Great Forest.

"I don't know what you're throwing at us now, Iron Creeps, but you've earned an extra helping of payback for what you did to Bunnie."

They stopped to see a giant robot turtle tearing off the tree from the ground with its mouth.

"BLAST IT! Knothole wasn't under that tree, either!"

They knew who that voice was and it was Eggman.

"Okay... I wasn't expecting this. Question is... is he back? Or is he still..."

"Crazy? Only one way to find out." Y/N said.

"Ah! Mobians! They can tell me where to find... Wait... I recognize those two... It's... It's... SONIC  AND Y/N!!!"

"Yo, Doc! Are you back? Y'know—like back-back?"

That proved Sonic wrong as Eggman fired missile at the hedgehog siblings. Luckily, they dodged it and started dodging all the missiles that are being fired everywhere as they ran and skated around the robot turtle.

"Here it comes, rodents! Right from the show!" Eggman shouted.

"From the show?" Sonic and Y/N questioned.

"FROM THE SHOW! I'm going to be on TV! I'm going to be a TV star!"

"Okay, we can rule out him being lucid."

"More like absolutely crazy."

Just then, Tails fly in.

"Sonic! Y/N!"

"Hey, Tails! Come to check up on us?" Sonic greeted.

"Yeah, and the source of Nicole's signal... What am I saying? Sonic! Y/N! It's Dr. Robotnik!"

"Yeah, we know. And it isn't 'cause..."

"HOLD STILL AND LET ME SHOOT YOU!"

"We've been running in the same circle for five minutes now. Be a pal and disable the guns? I don't think he even sees you."

"He's more focusing on taking us down."

"O-Okay..."

"And be careful!" Y/N added.

Tails slid underneath the robot turtle and started messing with the wires.

"Actually, it looks like I can shut the whole thing down from here. This one doesn't seem that tough. You could've trashed it, no problem."

"Perfect, Tails!"

"Yeah, I suppose..."

Then, the robot turtle stopped moving and hid itself inside the shell, shutting down.

"WHY TORTOISE NO WORKIE?!"

"You're not going easy on him, are you?" Tails asked, getting out of the robot turtle.

"I... guess I am." Sonic said.

"Why?!" Tails exclaimed.

"Sonic! He's still our enemy!" Y/N said.

"I really wish I knew. I mean, you and I have no trouble wanting to kick his big ol' butt in the past. Everything he's done is unforgivable."

"But...?"

"But this is different somehow. Me and sis didn't just beat him last time, we broke him. And as stupid as it sounds, that makes me feel bad."

"I don't... Only a little, but not completely." Y/N mumbled, crossing her arms.

"...Please tell me I'm some sense?"

"None that I can follow. I don't think he deserves any sympathy at all." Tails said.

"I agree. He ruined everything." Y/N nodded.

"...Hello? Is anyone still there?" Eggman groaned out.

"But... that doesn't mean we have to be cruel in how we can handle him. So I guess I can understand you feeling like you crossed a line."

"Yeah... Maybe that's it. Thanks."

Sonic and Tails looked at Y/N who's silent until she sighed in defeat.

"Fine. But I still don't trust him. If he does something funny, I promise you I will end him. For good."

"Understood, sis."

"Yes, ma'am."

Sonic begin to climb up the shell.

"So the civil things to do now is arrest him. Leaving him locked up with the Iron Goons would be cruel."

"I suppose— But be careful! May have lost his mind, but he's still dangerous!"

"I'm going to stay right here with Tails so I won't have to face his craziness again."

This made Tails blush as Sonic made it to the top where Eggman is.

"Yeah, dangerous. And thanks for the help, sis..."

He held a hand out to Eggman.

"Okay, doc. We're done fighting for today. Why don't you come home with me and we'll fight some more another time, huh?"

Instead of taking his hand, Eggman punched him in the face.

"I did it! I GOT THE HEDGEHOG! I got him I got him I got him...! HE NEVER SAW IT COMING! HAHAHA! HA ha Ha hee hee hee YEE HEE HEE HAW HAW HAW Hee heee hoo hoo ha ha heee..."

Eggman begins to fall but Sonic caught him.

"GNPF! Okay, Tails, sis? I think I'm gonna need a hand with him."

Tails and Y/N went up and grabbed Eggman, trying to pull him up.

"NRRF! And here I thought he'd slimmed down a bit!"

"He really needs to exercise and lose some calories!"

"Maybe I should just run ahead and get Mighty...?"

"Or you could simply hand him over to us, and surrender while you're at it."

They turned to see Iron Queen, Snively, Jun Kun, Dark Egg Legion, and the Ninja Clans. Sonic and Y/N jumped down to the ground facing them.

"Get Robotnik back to the city." Sonic ordered.

"I can't just leave you guys here with them!" Tails worriedly said.

"Relax, little bro. You've got the hard job!"

"We'll be fine. It's you that needs to be kept safe." Y/N assured him with a smile.

"But, you can't take on the entire Iron Dominion by yourselves!"

"We're not, Tails."

Sonic pointed at the Ninja Bats who flinched.

"According to Monkey Khan, there are three whole other ninja clans not here, and the whole Dark Egg Legion hasn't shown up, either. So we're barely up against any of the Iron Dominion. How many here, Queenie? A hundred—Max?"

"MREE-HEE-HEE-HEE! My! The weak grow overconfident when cornered." Iron Queen laughed.

"Her laugh is contagious than Eggman's..." Y/N whispered to Sonic and Tails who snickered.

"I've driven you from the city once already and attacked yours without consequence. You're doomed, little hedgehogs!"

"Yeah-Yeah-Yeah. Tails, get the doc back to New Mobotropolis." Sonic said, stretching.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah!" Y/N grinned.

And before they knew it, Sonic and Y/N zoomed past them and Sonic destroyed the hovercrafts the Ninja Bats are riding in with his spin dash while Y/N knocked each of them unconscious with her giant fist whip.

"We've got this."

Tails nodded and began to drag the sleeping Eggman away to New Mobotropolis. Sonic went back to destroying more hovercrafts and taking down ninja bats as Y/N fought them off while kicking them and spinning them after catching them with her whip.

"Just a heads up, guys. I had this evil double once. Conquered his whole planet on his own. Want to see what happens if I let loose like that? Along with my sis?"

Sonic jumped over the Ninja Bats' head while dodging the spears.

"Ha! Ha! Ha! Come on, guys! I thought ninja were supposed to be fast!"

Y/N punched them in the face, causing their tooth to come out from their mask.

"Not all fast." she smirked.

"No no no! It's Mount Stormtop all over again!" Iron Queen shouted in anger.

"A minor set-back, my love. I promise you!" Snively exclaimed.

"I will not accept your usual record of failure! I demand victory! Stop standing idly by and finish this, Jun Kun!"

Jun Kun huffed out from his nostrils. Sonic attacked him with his spin dash, but it didn't faze him.

"Jun-WHOOF?"

Sonic landed, rubbing his face.

"Oh, you. I always figured 'Iron King' was your name, y'know, considering my friends..."

"Face my tremor mace with honor, hedge-swine!" Jun Kun raised his tremor mace.

"You're on, Iron-Clod! Swing batta-batta-batta!"

Just as Sonic thought he could take him down with his spin dash, Jun Kun batted him away. Sonic crashed to the ground with stars spinning around his head.

"Sonic!" Y/N gasped.

"Right... You're the one I actually have to worry about..."

Jun Kun grabbed Sonic by the neck and lifted him up in the air.

"None can compare with the power of the Iron King!"

"Well done, my king! The so-called 'Hero of Mobius' will be a suitable trade for the crazy old man." Iron Queen clapped.

Y/N brought out her pink shield and punched it with a loud clang to gain their attention.

"You're forgetting me! Put.My.Brother.Down.Now!!"

"Oh, my! If it isn't Y/N! I've heard so much about you! You must be very special! Jun Kun, take her instead. She'll be so much useful."

Jun Kun smirked at Y/N who got ready into her fighting stance.

"With pleasure."

He placed Sonic down and faced her as they circle around each other. They had a staring contest for a moment until Y/N threw her shield towards him, causing him to block it with his tremor mace. She ran towards him and he tried to swing his hammer to hit her, but she dodged it and quickly punched him in the stomach rapidly. It didn't affect him and charged her and she backed flipped away while dodging more swings of his tremor mace. He managed to punch her down to the ground with his free hand. Y/N quickly moved away on time as the tremor mace made a dent on the ground. She got up as he goes to charge her again with his tremor mace raised when she speedily moved away and kicked his back which cause him to turn and punch her, but she dodged it.

Their fights last for like a second until he managed to grab her by the collar and slam her down to the ground again. Y/N coughed out in pain as he grabbed her arm and lifted her up in the air with the tremor mace pointing at her face. She struggled to get out of his grasp.

"Excellent!" Iron Queen smiled in glee.

"Hey! Let her go!"

"Who dares?!" Jun Kun demanded.

Sonic slowly got up with a grin.

"The ones who let me get away with all my bragging half the time."

It was Amy, Sally, Tails, and Antoine who are flying in the hovercraft with Tails driving. He looks angry to see Y/N being held hostage by Jun Kun as he's determined to save her.

"Hit 'em hard and hit 'em fast, Freedom Fighters! First move—"

Tails crashed the hovercraft into Jun Kun, causing him to release Y/N.

"—Bail out!"

"ARGH! Fools! I am invulnera-BUH!"

He was interrupted by Amy and Antoine attacking him. Tails lifted Sonic and Y/N up in the air.

"Let's give them the old one-two!"

Tails then threw Sonic and Y/N towards Iron Queen and Snively's hovercrafts.

"One!"

Sonic hit Iron Queen while Y/N hit Snively with their spin dash as they counted together.

"Two!"

They then landed on the ground.

"That was fun! Let's do it again!" Sonic said.

"Let's not push our luck! Back to the city!" Sally suggested.

They all started running towards the city wall and Jun Kun began to chase after them.

"You will pay for marring my armor!"

Behind him, Iron Queen and Snively's hovercrafts were falling.

"Forget them! Help me!"

He caught her, but not Snively as his hovercraft exploded.

"Get up! Get up! After them!!!"

The ninjas got up and started chasing after the Freedom Fighters with Jun Kun as well.

"Zey are giving the chase!" Antoine exclaimed.

Sonic began to fake his worry.

"Oh, no! If only one of us was incredibly fast! Oh, wait!"

Y/N rolled her eyes as Sonic carried Sally in bridal style and carried her to the city with Y/N behind him as she carried Amy. Then Sonic dragged Tails by the hand to the city and then he and Y/N went back for Antoine who had Jun Kun right on his tail.

"I mean, since we're all so slow and everything..."

"You are not funny, and I am about to be smash-ed."

Y/N quickly carried Antoine, causing him to shriek as she and Sonic made it into the city as Nicole closed the shield.

"Whew, close one!" Sonic sighed in relief.

Jun Kun banged his tremor mace against the shield, making them cover their ears from the loud noise.

"You will not deny me!" Jun Kun shouted.

"Will we?" Sonic asked, still covering his ears.

"Yes, we will. The shield is holding just fine. I'm getting that weird distortion in my matrix again though."

Sally approached Nicole with worry.

"Should Rotor run a diagnostic on you?"

"No, no. I'm fine, and we're safe. I promise."

Khan went up to the wall with Bunnie leaning on his shoulder as they grin at the Iron Dominion.

"Well, now. It looks like we're even."

"Sho'nuff."

"A sure-fire victory blown up in your face..."

"And a city invasion denied. So why don't y'all just call it a day?"

Iron Queen and Jun Kun looked furious.

"You will pay for this insult. You will pay most dearly. We will recede for now."

They stomped away with their ninjas behind them as Snively follow behind.

Later, Sonic and Y/N were at the detention center to pay a visit to their prisoner.

"Sir Charles?" Eggman called.

"No. His nephews."

"Ah, yes. Be a good boy and girl around the lab. And I promise I'll find a way to help your daddy. Isn't it so nice that the Great War is over... War... Over... Wait... If the war is over, who are you two?"

"Sonic." Sonic replied.

"Y/N." Y/N replied in an unamused tone.

"Ah, so I missed. Well, how do you like the smoldering crater that is your kingdom, your majesties? HA HA HA HA HA AAH... Ah...? A Mobian? I'm in captivity? Did I already defect?"

"Yeah. It's the Great War, and you're in protective custody."

"Ah! Good, good! I suppose I'll rest up for my audience with the king."

Eggman then fell asleep in his cot and started snoring, making Sonic face-palmed and sighed while Y/N just rolled her eyes, shaking her head. They started to leave when Khan ran into them.

"Yo, M.K. What's up?" Sonic greeted.

"Why?" Khan asked, glaring at them.

"Why what, Khan?" Y/N asked in confusion.

"Why do you show that man mercy? He wiped out my village and ruined my life. He's nearly destroyed everything you know and love time and time again. He's a monster unlike anything this world has ever known. And you merely lock him away. You both show him sympathy, understanding... How?! How can you do that?"

"I'm not the one showing mercy. It's Sonic. I wanted to end Eggman as much as you do, but my heart told me something else and I followed it."

"She's right and I dunno. I guess I move too fast to have time to be all vengeful and stuff. I just do what's right at the time."

Khan looked at them, stunned until he patted Sonic's shoulder.

"You two are either zen masters or fools. But you're impressive either way."

"Thanks, I think. And thanks for helping Bunnie get her little victory today. That was cool." Sonic said.

"It was the least I could do."

Sonic, Y/N, and Khan left the prison together.
