Sonic and Y/N are running and skating besides each other, dodging the incoming fire along with Bunnie, Sally, and Rotor who are in the jeep.

"Welcome back to field action, Rotor! Having fun yet?"

"Stop here!" Sally ordered as Rotor stopped the jeep. "Sonic! Y/N! Amy! Antoine! Clear the immediate area!"

Y/N knocked their guns away and whipped the Dark Legions on the butt at the same time. They yelp in pain, holding their butt and ran off not wanting to get hit again. Y/N kept hitting them by the butt until they were gone.

"Bunnie! Y/N! Give us some cover!"

Bunnie brought out her barrier while Y/N brought out her pink shield to block off the lasers that are being fired towards them. 

"Good as done, Sal!" Bunnie said.

Lien-Da watched on in her hovercraft she was riding.

"Why did they stop their advance? They were making such headway... Unless... Unless we actually stopped them! We broke their momentum!"

Y/N rolled her eyes at that.

"The blue hedgehog is making faces at us, ma'am." Dark Legion member pointed out.

"This is it! The tide finally turns in our favor! We can do it! This day is ours!"

"Fools! You've all just underestimated us, loser!" Y/N grinned, making Lien-Da confused.

That's when the Chaotix came and they destroyed hovercrafts and other mechanicals.

"She's right. You just got flanked." Knuckles said.

"Blasted Chaotix!" Lien-Da cursed. "Rear guard! Advance to support the East Flank!"

Sonic and Y/N destroyed her hovercraft by spin dashing.

"AUGH!"

"Whoops! You forgot about us!"

Lien-Da pulled out her whip as soon as they landed on the ground. Y/N pulled out her whip as well ready for the whip-to-whip dual.

"I won't be embarrassed by a base Mobian like you!" Lien-Da glared at the hedgehog siblings.

"We'll see about that!" Y/N glared back.

"Yow! Careful with that!" Sonic yelped.

Before Lien-Da could land a hit, Antoine came and cut the whip with his sword.

"Allying with ze Eggman, then such vile remarks? Have you no honor?"

"You really have left yourself with nothing." Y/N shook her head in disappointment.

"Don't you dare judge me!"

Lien-Da ran back to her Dark Egg Legion.

"Pull back to the perimeter! Call for some blasted support!"

The Dark Egg Legion ran away. Charmy flew down to Sally.

"The Dark Egg Legion is in the retreat, princess!"

"Thank you, Charmy. Spread the word to regroup."

Sally brought out her handheld computer.

"Reporting in, Sally! I'm done ahead of schedule!" Tails said on the screen of the computer.

"Good work, Tails. Meet up with us. It's time to finish this."

Soon, they are all standing on a cliff, looking over the Dark Egg Legion with their weapons ready.

"Stay together, everyone. If they refuse to surrender, they still outnumber us." Sally warned.

"Not really. Since I count for like, thirty of them." Sonic said.

Lien-Da pointed at the Freedom Fighters and Chaotix and ordered her troops.

"Dark Egg Legion! Open fire!"

"Tails, shut them down." Sally ordered.

Tails smiled and pressed a button on a remote and all of their weapons are shut down and they're not working anymore nor their fire were out.

"Fire! Fire!" Lien-Da shouted.

"They... won't Kommissar." they stuttered.

Sonic high fives Tails.

"Smooth!"

Y/N grabbed Tails' face and kissed both of his cheeks.

"Always a pure genius."

"I-I know that..." Tails stuttered with a blissful sigh.

"Your weapons have been deactivated. Surrender and we can end this peacefully." Sally shouted to the Dark Egg Legion.

Suddenly, a large fire was shot out of the Eggdome and send flying straight towards the Freedom Fighters and Chaotix. When it landed, it revealed a giant red bird like phoenix robot and started shooting at them with fire. Knuckles grabbed Y/N's arm and pulled her to safety to avoid getting burned as the rest did the same.

"Um... The Legion is retreating. Again." Charmy said.

"I'm not concerned about them right now."

Sally turned to Bunnie.

"Can you generate another force field?"

"Sorry, hon. If I push it anymore I'll pass out."

"I'll make a force field. Don't know how long my power can last. Everyone! Gather around!"

They all immediately huddled around Y/N as her ruby glowed and created a giant pink bubble around herself and her friends as the fire tried to burn it, but to no affect on it.

"Any ideas?" Sally asked Knuckles.

"All of mine involve getting in close. Which we can't do. So... no."

"Maybe we can reuse the neutralizing mines?" Tails suggested.

"They can take it out?" Knuckles asked.

"I think so, but they'd have to be on that thing to pack enough punch."

"So we're back to the same problem."

"I've got it. Here's the plan..." Sally started.

Y/N listened to what was the plan as she made sure her bubble doesn't break.

A moment later, Sonic and Y/N were standing out in the open and called up to Eggman.

"This is my most favorite plan ever! Hey, Eggman! Nice pyrotechnics, but your egg sparkler hasn't hit me yet!"

Eggman starts firing missiles at them, but he missed as Sonic and Y/N dodged it and ran and skate off.

"We got his attention! Toss and get clear!"

"Right!"

Vector launched Sonic and Y/N high in the air towards Knuckles.

"This is the most fun I've had since the invasion!"

"You're hopeless."

"You know how he is." Y/N rolled her eyes with a smile.

Knuckles smiled and threw them towards Tails.

"Good luck!"

Tails threw them towards Bunnie.

"Good throw, bud!"

"Nice one!"

Bunnie finally who's the last one threw Sonic and Y/N.

"Here he comes, Sugah-Hogs!"

"Almost there!"

They are now in the atmosphere.

"Having flown the Tornado a fair bit, we should warn you about flying straight up, Doc. You run the risk of stalling out."

As if on cue, the ship stalled and the engines stopped working and started plummeting towards the ground. Sonic and Y/N fall down with Eggman as they gave him a smug look.

"Seriously, dude. You're supposed to be a genius."

Y/N snickered and Eggman growled at them.

"Don't you dare mock me! I'll burn you alive! All of you!"

What Eggman didn't know is that Ray, Charmy, and Safforn placed the mines all over the ship.

"The fires are out! Now's our chance!"

"It's like planting flowers!"

"Just do it quickly, dear!"

After placing the mines on the ship, Ray and Charmy save Sonic and Y/N from falling before the ship hit the ground.

"Nice work, guys!" Sonic said.

"Now let's get out of here!" Y/N said.

On ground, Sally and Tails are standing there looking at the ship.

"He's coming around. Tails...?"

"They have a limited range. We have to wait until he's close enough."

The ship started coming close to them.

"Tails...!"

"Almost... Almost...!"

Once it was close enough, Tails immediately pressed a button of the remote and the ship started to friz.

"NOOOOOO!" Eggman screamed through the ship.

The ship went sailing over their heads and crashed into the mountain.

"Nooo... Noooooo—Not—Possible! Can't—Won't—How—RRRGH?!?!"

Sonic and Y/N were about to chase after Eggman when he ejected himself out of the wreckage and flew back to the dome. The ship then exploded and Y/N quickly activate a pink bubble around herself and Sonic as they were sent flying and crashed on the ground safely before she deactivate the bubble.

"Sonic! Y/N! Are you okay?" Amy asked in concern.

"Yeah. Just fine if it weren't for my sis' save and quick thinking."

Y/N blushed in embarrassment.

"Oh, stop, bro."

Rotor drove up to Sally in the jeep.

"All clear?"

"Yes. You're good. Park it over here and we'll unload the shield generator."

"Wait, that's it?" Sonic asked.

"Yes, that's 'it'. We've made it to the Eggdome's perimeter, driven back the Legion, and survived one of Robotnik's killer machines." Sally pointed out with her hands on her hips.

"She's got a point, Sonic. What? You expect something more?" Y/N said, narrowing her eyes.

"I suppose that makes for a full day. Y'know, for you people."

Sally playfully shoved his shoulder with a giggle.

"Honestly! Go set up camp for the night."

"Ha ha ha! Sure, sure."

"Geez, just make out already." Y/N rolled her eyes with a smirk.

Sally's and Sonic's face turned pink. Y/N then walked away.

"Sis!!"

Soon, Rotor and Mighty set up a machine in the center of the circle of sleeping bags they set up. Sonic, Y/N, and Tails are sitting down on the sleeping bag when they noticed Tails' expression as he was looking ahead of the dome.

"Nervous?" Sonic asked.

"No... Yeah, I guess. I mean... This is it. Tomorrow, when we attack... it'll be over. One way or the other it'll be the end of the war."

"Yeah. It's about time, too. But don't you worry about it, little bro."

"He's right. We've saved the day a hundred times over. We'll get it right this time too." Y/N added.

"Yeah... You're right."
