Since the Enerjak incident, Y/N had to wake up in the next morning and go back to her home. Knuckles feels a little better, but he still feels bad for what he did to those people. Y/N assured him that everything will be okay and reminded him that he should never give up and that he had friends to be there for. She was right now with Sonic and Kirby at the airfield where the plane landed as she remembered Mina and Ash are coming home from their world tour. Mina ran out of the plane, knocking some other people off and jumped into Sonic's arms.

"Omigosh-I-missed-you-so-much!"

"Hey, Mina! Welcome home!"

"Hi, Mina!" Y/N waved.

"Pooteetah!" Kirby greeted.

"Y/N!"

Mina let go Sonic and hugged Y/N.

"It's so good to see you again! You too, Kirby!"

"So do you."

"Pooteetah."

Mina looked back at Sonic and grabbed Ash by the arm, pulling him towards them.

"And what a gorgeous new home it is! But first, me and Ash had some serious talks on tour, and he has something to say. Right, Ash?"

"Er..."

Ash disgruntly took Sonic's hand.

"I'm-sorry. I've been a jerk to you. To a lot of people. I've had it rough for a long time, y'know? Mina makes me forget about the bad times. I guess I overreacted when I thought you'd hurt her... or take her away from me."

"Which is silly."

"...Yeah."

Sonic rubbed his head awkwardly.

"Don't sweat it, man. I've been a bit of a jerk, too, at time."

"No joke."

Y/N and Kirby snickered slightly.

"AAAAsh, be nice." Mina scolded him.

Ash walked away.

"I'm gonna go get the band settled. I'll leave you to the hero. Later."

"Umm... later."

"'Bye, sweetie!"

Mina took both Sonic's and Y/N's hands.

"Alright, Sonic and Y/N! I can see New Mobotropolis any time. I want you to show me everything else! Starting with what we lost..."

Sonic, Y/N, Kirby, and Mina ran or skate through the what used to be the remains of Knothole as everything was filled with nothing but dirts, scraps, and ashes.

"This is all that's left of Knothole?!" Mina exclaimed.

"Robotnik is was thorough. At the very least, the Great Forest is still standing." Sonic explained.

"He's lucky I didn't kill him..." Y/N mumbled.

"I think-I think this used to be my house. It's hard to tell with everything gone." Mina said, looking at the hole. "When I took my show on tour, I wanted to rally the world to unify against the Eggman Empire. When we heard about Knothole, I wrote a song about it. I tried to write something that'd be a fitting tribute. Seeing this-I don't know if I could ever do it justice."

Y/N placed a hand on Mina's shoulder.

"You'll have to sing it for us and let us be the judge. C'mon, not everything was leveled."

They head to the Freedom HQ where there's what appears to be the wooden roof that's being constructed with Tails on top as he's fixing it.

"Oh, wow! I may not be a Freedom Fighter, but it's so nice to see Freedom HQ is still standing."

"For the most part. We've still got a room for you and Ash." Sonic said.

"Really?!"

They went inside to see Mighty holding the wooden stand.

"Hi, Mighty." Y/N smiled while Kirby on her shoulder waved.

"Yo, Mighty. How you holding up?"

"Hey, Sonic! Y/N! Kirby! This is just the center support beam while Tails finishes up."

"I said 'how' not 'what,' shell-head."

Y/N immediately elbowed her brother's arm, making him whine a little.

"Oh! I'm alright. Welcome home, Mina!"

"Thanks! I haven't seen you since the Chaotix helped kick-off my tour. How're Knuckles and the others?"

Y/N, Sonic, and Mighty look at each other with frowns.

"The rest of the team is good. Shaken a bit, but..." Mighty started.

"Knux was brain-washed into playing the 'ultimate villain' thing. We got him back, but he lost his dad. He's been keeping himself on Angel Island lately."

"Oh, no!" Mina gasped.

"Most of the Chaotix are keeping an eye on him, but he's taking things really rough..." Mighty said, looking at the ground.

"It'll be okay, Mighty. You know Knuckles. He'll come around... I hope." Y/N said.

Tails fly in and high-fives Sonic.

"You can let go, Mighty. I'm done. Oh, hey, Sonic, Y/N, Kirby! Hey, Mina!"

"My man!"

"Tails."

"Heya, Tails. Man-o-man... You leave on one little concert tour and the world changes. Next thing you're going to tell me is that after they lose someone they care for, you feel as much pain as they have or something."

Y/N sighed just upon hearing that and walked out of the Freedom HQ with Kirby, leaving the others confuse as they watch her leave.

"Was it something I said?"

Sonic sighed.

"Sis been like this ever since Knuckles' father was gone. She's trying so hard to not think about anything else that would have happened."

"Oh... I'm sorry to hear that." Mina frowned.

"I'll go talk to her..." Mighty said, following after Y/N along with Kirby.

Y/N sat down leaning against the tree, staring at the view of New Mobotropolis remembering all the people she knows and got to know and what happened to them. She feels like she's useless and couldn't do anything to save them from their fate.

"Hey."

She turned and saw Mighty and Kirby. Kirby walks over to her and sat on her lap, looking up a at her with concern. She turn back around and Mighty walks up to her.

"Everything okay?"

"...No."

He sat down next to her.

"Listen. What happened today wasn't your fault. You didn't know what was going to happen. Don't beat yourself up. We all could've known."

"Am I worthy enough to call myself a hero? I should've been strong enough and it's my fault. I'm not beating myself up. I'm just so mad and upset that everyone that cares for me and my friends suffers. Sir Connery is dead, Tommy is dead, and worst of all Knuckles' dad Locke. Who's next?! I'm a curse!!" Y/N cried out, clutching her head.

"Pooteetah..." Kirby frowned, hugging her.

Mighty frowned to see her so sad. He took her cheek and wiped away her tears.

"You are not a curse. And not everyone we cares for suffers. None of this is your fault."

Y/N sniffs, looking at him.

"How would you know?"

He cups her cheek and gives her a kiss on a cheek.

"Because I care for you. We all do. And we love you for that."

Y/N's eyes widen in surprise and could feel her cheeks heat up at how close he is.

"You are not alone. You have me, Kirby, your brother, and everyone. Those that had sacrifice for us would want us to keep moving forward."

She looks down at Kirby who nodded at her with a smile and realizes that he's right and remembers Cosmo telling her the same thing before she was gone. She smiles at him and hugs Mighty.

"Thank you. I really need that."

He hugs back with a gentle smile on his face.

"I'm glad you're better."

Then, the three of them stare out into the city of their new home together with the sun rising over them.

That night, Y/N couldn't sleep because ever since Mogul ask Sonic for a visit. Sonic even mentioned about this Fearsome Foursome and that Mogul wants him and others to surrender for what? She doesn't know what that means, but she knows that Mogul is not joking and has a bad feeling about this. As if on cue, she heard a crash coming from the HQ. She was right as she quickly got off of her bed, changed her clothes, and zoom off leaving Kirby who's a heavy sleeper.

Y/N stopped just in time to see Sonic on the ground looking a little beaten and her eyes widen.

"Oh no... Not this again..."

Standing before them are Tails, Mighty, and Mina with their eyes glowing green and a green diamond on their forehead. Y/N immediately went in front of Sonic as she stood there ready to defend herself. The trio creepily said in Mogul's voice as she knew who did this.

"You were warned. Rise, my fourth. Complete my new Fearsome Foursome."

"Great." Sonic grimaced.

Sonic and Y/N quickly run or skate away from their mind controlled friends.

"I'll give you this, Mogul: talking through three of my friends at once is a bit freaky and so low for you to use them!!" Y/N exclaimed with a glare.

"Yeah! It ticks me off more than anything, though! Let them go!" Sonic demanded, dodging Mina who attempt to run him over.

"They are mine to use, boy."

"No they're not!" Y/N shouted.

"I found each of them and marked them in the past. All they needed was my telepathic signal to awaken to my control."

"I don't care! I said let them go!"

Y/N flipped over Mighty who attempt to punch her.

"There's no way are we fighting our friends!"

"You could have prevented this if you'd listening to me this morning."

"You talked a lot but said nothing!" Sonic fired back and ducked from Tails' fist as he was flying.

"Sarcasm and quips will not help you tonight, boy. You will give me what I want."

"Not likely."

"No way!!"

Suddenly, Ash came and tackled Mina to the ground who was about to attack Y/N. Sonic dodged the attack from Mighty by jumping over him.

"Mina! What are you doing?!" Ash demanded.

"Thanks for the save, Ash. We'll explain in a second." Sonic said, bouncing off of Mighty's shell.

Y/N jumps over and held Tails into a hug.

"Stop this, Tails! Not more fighting!"

"Blasted weak child! Release him!"

"Don't you dare call him weak! Not until you release him first!"

Sonic walks over to mind controlled Tails.

"Stop while you're behind, Mogul. There's no way you can take us out with these three tonight."

"Mina? C'mon, hon. What are you doing?" Ash asked in concern for his girlfriend.

"Not with conventional fisticuffs, it would seem, but there are other chinks to your armor." Mighty said in Mogul's voice with a smirk.

Y/N was confused on what he means by that and was suddenly punched in the face by Tails.

"Ow!"

Mina punched Ash in the face and Mighty punched Sonic in the gut, knocking them to the ground as the three went their separate ways.

"You alright, sis?"

"Yeah..."

Y/N rubbed her face to ease the pain and looked over at Ash.

"You okay there, Ash?"

"What do you think?! Mina just hit me! She's never done anything like that! What's going on?!"

"As far as I can tell, a psychic bad guy took control of our friends and is trying to force me to do something." Sonic explained rather calmly.

"But why? What does he want? And where did they go now?" Y/N asked.

"I couldn't tell you, but I know who can. You want in on this?"

"I'm in." Y/N said without hesitation.

"Mina's in trouble. You couldn't keep me out of this." Ash said.

Sonic grinned and carried Ash in bridal style before he and Y/N zoom off to the New Mobotropolis Detention Center. They walk through the hallway of the glass cells with all the villains in it as they went straight to Mogul's cell not without Y/N giving Nack a death glare with her punching her fist, making him gulp and look away.

"Mogul! You've go some s'plainin' to do!"

"Which part of 'dormant magical mind control' did you not comprehend?" Mogul asked with a smirk.

"Quit giving me the run-around, Jumbo! Where are our friends?"

"I am still willing to trade. Will you listen to my terms?"

"Not until you tell us where our friends are and then maybe we will listen to your terms!" Y/N said.

"You are the embodiment of obstinacy! Fine. I am sending Tails as high as he can from the thin atmosphere. I do not expect the ground to be much of a cushion. I've sent Mina to run out to the center of the ocean. Once there, I will tell her to stop. While Mighty, for all his tremendous strength, will walk into Dr. Robotnik's City without a fight."

Their eyes widen in fear and terrified. Ash grabbed Sonic's and Y/N's arm.

"You two're fast enough to catch them, though. Right? Right??"

"Any one of them, yeah, but..."

"They are too far apart. Or do you use your speed to rally the Freedom Fighters? Do you have time to explain everything? Do you have time to find which part of the sky, which expanse of beach, or which road to New Megopolis you need to rescue them?"

"You monster! You snake!!" Y/N growled.

"Fine! You've go them beat, and you're the smartest, or whatever! What do you want?!" Ash demanded not wanting to lose Mina.

"I once was a God, boy. Universes were mine to create or destroy. I have been rescued to a minor sorcerer in a cage. You will bring me the Chaos Emerald I have sensed while in confinement, and you will restore the power that is rightfully mine."

"I want your word that everyone returns home unharmed, or no deal!" Sonic yelled.

"You have it. Welcome to the Fearsome Foursome."

Just then, Nicole appeared.

"Sonic? What are you, Y/N, and Ash doing-?"

"Where do we have the Chaos Emerald stashed, Nicole?" Y/N asked, cutting her off.

"Castle Acorn. Why?"

"Cool. Ash, I'm going to need a hand."

"Right."

"I'll stay here and watch him." Y/N said.

"Cool."

"What's going on?" Nicole questioned, following after the boys.

Y/N glared at Mogul with hate and pure passion.

"You have no soul, Mogul."

"No, but I am a God. Sticks and stone." Mogul smirked.

She heard running footsteps and turned to see Nicole reappeared just as Sonic and Ash ran into the room.

"Stop! Please! You can't-!"

"No time to take it slow, Nicole! It's life or death!"

Y/N quickly brought out her giant fist whip and broke the glass of Mogul's cell as Sonic performed a spin dash with glass shattering around the room. Mogul's smirk went big as he grab the Chaos Emerald in his hand.

"Are you insane?! I can't contain that kind of power!"

"Nicole, he didn't leave me with a choice."

"Would you like it better if Mina drowned?!" Ash yelled.

"What?!"

"Whoa, Ash, chill." Y/N assured him.

"Such inane squabbling..."

Mogul placed the Chaos Emerald in a hole where his chest is and send out a wave of Chaos energy, breaking all the glass cells and made Nicole disappear.

"You are not needed here, my dear."

Sonic kneel down to Ash who's on the ground.

"Ash? Are you okay?"

"...Ungh..."

Sonic turned to Y/N.

"Sis."

"Fine."

Suddenly, Sonic and Y/N were lifted in the air and brought up to Mogul's face.

"Oh, right, you're ridiculously powerful again. Now what, Mo'-Gut?"

"Forever spouting your empty bravado, aren't you? Our business is concluded, boy. The Foursome Fearsome have served me and are now decommissioned."

"...Seriously?"

"It is time for a change in tactics, boy. Something I came to understand in my immortality was that I cannot beat you or your sister."

"What?" Sonic and Y/N questioned in unison.

"I shall use small words so you can follow. Twice I've risen to Godhood, and twice I've fallen in your presence. No matter what power I wield, the fates convene to ensure your victory. Even if I were to act now, I am certain something would thwart me or rescue you. It is a cosmic punchline I've grown quite weary of. The advantage I have is time. As an immortal, I can wait you out. I may not defeat you, but you will never know peace. Nor will your children... or their children."

"Vindictive much?"

"I call it 'patience.' You may call me 'petty' or dismiss me as a nuisance. I can endure such small barbs knowing you will not rest easily from this day forth. My first act is to set my prison-mates free. I'm sure they'll look you up later."

Mogul threw Sonic to the ground before turning to Y/N who's still floating.

"As for you, dear, you better keep a close eye on that ruby necklace of yours. I can only imagine what would happen if it's power fell into the wrong hands. Or worse... make you use it that you're unwilling to for evil and turn you into something."

Sonic and Y/N froze in shock.

"W-What? How did you-?"

"Simple."

He unclipped her pendant from her neck and floated it over for him to see up close.

"Like the Chaos Emerald, I could sense it's magic. Very powerful magic at that. I could tell this belongs to your alien friend of yours before she sacrifice herself and gave it to you. This one is very special."

He then look down and Y/N followed his gaze to see Naugus looking at her necklace with lust in his eyes as he hissed at it.

"It would seem Naugus can sense the power as well."

Mogul clipped her necklace back around her neck and set her down gently next to Sonic.

"You be a good girl now. Use it well and use it wisely. For some reason, when I sense you... you're not what you seem to be."

Y/N raises her eyebrow in confusion until a green light surrounded Mogul and the rest of the villains as Beans wave goodbye in tears.

"I'll write! Everyday! I'll miss you!"

"Haha! You've earned yourself one free job from me, Mogul!" Nack grinned at Mogul.

With that said, they disappeared.

Soon, Sonic, Y/N, and Ash made it back to Freedom HQ to see Tails, Mighty, and Mina waiting for them. Mighty was holding the broken door, Tails was holding himself shivering as he tried to keep himself warm, and Mina was on the verge of tears.

"Here they come..."

Mina ran over to Ash and hugged him, crying.

"Shh, Angel. It's over."

"How are you feeling, guys?" Sonic asked in concern.

"Totally ashamed." Mighty said, looking away with his head down.

"That, and cold." Tails said and turned to Y/N. "I'm sorry I hit you, Y/N. Are you okay?"

Y/N smiled and hugged him.

"I'm fine. I know it wasn't you."

"Now I really know how Knuckles feels." Mighty said.

"Yeah, but I won't let you go sulk on Angel Island. We made it through tonight, guys. So what if the bad guys got away with this one time? We've taken them before, and we'll do it again. They're the ones running scared."

Y/N smiled for his brother's speech and looked at the sunset with everyone else. But for some reason, she had a question on what Mogul means that she's not what she means? Does that mean she's not just a hedgehog?
