In the throne room, Sonic, Y/N, and Sally kneel down to King Max aka Sally's father. He does not look happy.

"Princess Sally, how could you be so reckless as to disobey my direct order and go on a secret mission to Megapolis?!"

"Mind your blood pressure, Maximillian..." Queen Alicia said, grabbing his arm softly.

"Uhh,.. Would you believe it was all my idea, King Max? That I... er... kidnapped her?" Sonic nervously said with a sweat drop.

"No!"

King Max turned to his daughter.

"How can you be trusted to rule an entire city while Queen Alicia and I are away if you insist on taking such risks?"

Sally grabbed her arm, looking away.

"I'm sorry... your highness."

"Your highness, please don't get mad at Sally. It was mine and Sonic's idea to bring her into this mission." Y/N said, making him turn to her. "But if it weren't for her, Tommy would've been dead by now. How can we just stay here and do nothing when you know we have to take action with or without your order?"

"I understand that, but I'm doing this to protect my daughter."

"Would you do the same if you were told to stay put after hearing your daughter in danger and kidnapped?" Y/N narrowed her eyes.

"Why, uh... yes, I would do whatever it takes to get her back."

"Then, there's nothing wrong with going on a mission to save Tommy. We can handle this. Your daughter is old enough to make her own decision. You weren't even there when it happened and please forgive my rudeness, your highness."

King Max was speechless as he couldn't utter a word and sighed. Queen Alicia, Sonic, and Sally were surprised that Y/N has the authority to put him in his place and knowing what's right and wrong. She would've become a queen by now, but that's not what she was meant to be.

"You're right... But her punishment will not get avoided."

"Then, at least, give her a week?" Y/N asked.

"Fine. One week. I better not hear you disobey my order again. Understood, Sally?"

"Yes, father. It won't happen again." Sally smiled.

"You're all dismissed."

Sonic, Y/N, and Sally walk out of the throne room.

"Wow, I guess your dad can be persuaded." Sonic commented.

"I did my best."

"You don't have to do that, Y/N. I would've handle myself." Sally said, smiling at her.

"Well, you can't stop me. I'm doing this because I care and you're my best friend."

"Hey! What about me? I'm your big brother best friend, too!"

"You too, bro!"

The trio chuckled along the way.

At noon, in Fredrick's airbase, King Max, Queen Alicia, and Uncle Chuck are ready to leave as the plane is ready for them to take off. Sally hugged her mom goodbye along with Sonic, Y/N, Tails, Bernie, and Jules hugging Uncle Chuck goodbye.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the press, thank you for coming out to bid Queen Alicia and I farewell on our extended tour of Mobius. Sir Charles Hedgehog will accompany us as science advisor and Lieutenant Antoine D'Coulette will command our elite guard."

"Farewell, Knothole City!" Queen Alicia waved at them along with King Max.

"Wish us luck!"

The plane then take off. Later at Uncle Chuck's diner, everyone including Sally who's sitting next to Sonic as they both happily sip their drink in one cup with two straws are having a seat ordering their food. Well, kinda, as Vector and Espio are having an angry stare with their faces close, gritting their teeth. Amy and Hope are rooting for them to fight as Bernie and Jules watch on with sweat drop until Y/N barged in between the crocodile and the chameleon.

"Alright, knock it off, you two."

"But he started it!" Vector protested, still glaring at Espio.

"I did not! You started it first!"

"Oh, it's on now!"

"Oh no, you don't! If you don't stop this right now, I'll have to expose your guys' secret." Y/N glared at them.

Vector and Espio gasped.

"You wouldn't!!"

Y/N took a deep breath and opened her mouth to say something until they quickly stopped her.

"Okay! Okay! You win!"

Espio sighed and went first.

"I'm sorry, it was rude of me."

"I'm sorry, too..." Vector said before they shake hands.

"Great. Now, why don't you two go and order your food? You must be hungry."

"I guess I could go for something to eat."

"Me too."

Vector and Espio then walked away. Y/N sighed, leaning against the counter.

"You sure are becoming like me, sweetie." Bernie chuckled.

"I have to, mom. Plus, they can be so annoying."

"That's what we love about you, Y/N." Jules smiled at her daughter, patting her head.

In the table, Fiona who's sitting next to Bunnie glanced at Y/N and blushed softly. She's not the only one as Mighty, Knuckles, and Tails are gazing at Y/N with lovable eyes. Julie-Su noticed it and chuckled, knowing her best friend Knuckles still got feelings for Y/N along with her friends that are willing to fight for her. All of the sudden, they heard a crash coming from the entrance and turned to see the unexpected visitors.

"It's- It's-" Tails started.

"Charmy Bee- and Safferon?!" Knuckles exclaimed in shock.

Charmy and Safferon don't look good as they look like they were in a war. Charmy was helping Safferon as best as he could to make her get back up on her feet as he look at them.

"H-Help.. us..."

He and Safferon collapsed. Everyone immediately surrounded the two bees in worry.

"Somebody call a doctor!" Knuckles shouted.

"...Now that you've received medical attention, can you tell me what happened to you and Lady Safferon?" Sally asked, sitting on the throne.

"We lost everything." Charmy said and started to tear up. "Dr. Robotnik saw to that when he set his brutal egg pawns to attack Goldenhive Colony."

"Our home." Saffron sniffed.

"We couldn't... find any other survivors no matter how hard we tried. Our families... our neighbors..."

"Gone."

Y/N covered her mouth in shock and sympathy for their loss of their people. She knew Eggman can take things far, but not too far. This has got to stop and she's not letting anyone show mercy on him.

"I-I'm sorry for your loss. Eggman will pay for this. I promise." Sally said.

"Don't worry. He will and this time no mercy." Y/N declared, clenching her fist.

Just then, the soldier Mobian came in.

"Er... sorry to interrupt, your highness, but we're receiving a garbled transmission on the Technolo-Tree- We think it's for him!" He said, pointing at Knuckles who looks surprised.

"Me?!"

They quickly came in to see the screen glitching with an unknown voice.

"Locke *SQWWKKK* held prisoner *SQWWKKK* Angel Island-"

That was the last word they said before their connection was cut off. Knuckles's body lit on fire with rage.

"That does it! Nobody puts my old man in lockdown! I'm packing a bag for-"

Sally cut him off by grabbing his arm.

"Knuckles- Wait! It could be a trap!"

"I'm out of patience, Sally! It's time for me 'n' the Chaotix to save my dad!"

The Chaotix nodded in agreement and excitement.

"Count me in!" Sonic said.

"Same for me! Family comes first after all!" Y/N said.

Sally sighed.

"Okay, but this isn't a mission to liberate Angel Island from Robotnik, merely one to find and rescue your father. Sonic-"

"Don't worry, Sal. I'll be fine."

"-I was going to say that I expect a full report when your return, okay?"

Sonic smiled and nodded before kissing her. Knuckles immediately shoved Sonic.

"Will you get a move on?!"

Y/N snickered and turned to Sally.

"I'll keep an eye on him."

"Yes, please make sure he doesn't do anything reckless again."

At night, the plane flies to Angel Island.

"Charmy...? Are you sure about coming along with us?" Knuckles uneasily asked.

"If it's a chance to payback Eggman- you bet!" Charmy declared.

Y/N whacked both Mighty and Espio on the head to break up the fight over the stupid snoring. This left a huge bump as they apologized to her and each other.

"That's more like it." Y/N smiled.

"Ah don't understand why ah can't come along on the mission with y'all, Sugah-hog..." Bunnie said, looking disappointed.

"Come on, Bunnie..." Sonic said. "Sally needs to keep some muscle in Knothole while me and sis are gone!"

Sonic, Y/N, and the Chaotix flew down using their parachute to the Marble Garden Zone.

"Let's stand watch while true blue, light blue, and rad red bury their 'chutes." Mighty said.

"Sonic, why don't you do some high-speed recon-"

Sonic immediately went off, making Y/N sigh that he never let him finish.

"-and tell us what you-"

Sonic came back for a second.

"Found something- and it sure ain't pretty!"

He showed them the Eggman prisoner camp with echidnas in chains.

"An Eggman sponsored echidna prisoner camp run by teched-out dingoes!" Knuckles gasped.

"Those bastards!" Y/N growled.

"Yep! I say we 'do it to it!'"

Everyone including Y/N looked at him in confusion.

"Do... what...?" Ray asked.

Sonic sighed and Y/N immediately get what he was saying and brought out her giant fist whip. She skates off first with a battle cry.

"CHARGE!!!"

"Colonel-!"

"What is it?"

Mighty broke through the fence.

"You're under attack, goof ball!"

Everyone started fighting off the guards while Sonic stole the weapons from them in the blink of an eye and Y/N knocking them out as the fist hit each of their head, making them dizzy. She wrapped the whip around the guard and the fist upper cut him, sending him flying.

"Ooof!"

Y/N turned and gasped to see Knuckles surrounded by the Dingoes as he was punched in the gut.

"Hey! Leave him alone!"

Y/N jumped over them and kicked them off. She turned to him as he held his stomach in pain.

"You alright, Knuckles?"

"Yeah. I could've handled those dingoes, y'know..."

"Sometimes you could use some help."

"Thanks."

"Hail to the Avatar... for he has returned..."

Knuckles turned and was in shock to see his kind bowing down before him.

"Hail to the Avatar..."

He looked through the crowd in confusion and his eyes widen to see a familiar friend of his.

"Oh... my... gosh... Remington?"

"Avatar...?" Remington teared up in joy and stood up.

He looks like a mess and stinky as flies swarmed around him.

"Why is everyone calling me that?"

"Because it's true! When you came back from the afterlife in time to help defeat that menace from outer space..." Remington explained. "I thought you were an imposter. It wasn't until I visited your shrine at Sky Sanctuary with my echidna security team... that I began to see the truth. But, it was too late... The Dingoes had already sold us out in exchange for their own freedom, and Echidnapolis soon came under attack from Robotnik's invasion force. I was captured and thrown into a dungeon where I was imprisoned for months before I wound up here. Still, we knew you would return to free us, Avatar! We had faith!"

"Faith in what?"

"In the prophecy of the Ancient Walkers, it states that, 'A champion will bypass the afterlife and return hence to deliver the world from its suffering...'" Julie-Su said sadly.

"Remington... I think you guys have got the wrong echidna."

The Lava Reef Zone

"This is where the Techolo-Tree's transmission originated..." Knuckles said, looking at the view as everyone, including the echidnas are in their journey.

"Why the heck would anybody want to set up shop on this side o' the island, Knux?" Sonic asked.

"Maybe there's a spy that doesn't want to be spotted in case someone caught them." Y/N guessed.

"You might have a point, Y/N." Knuckles agreed.

"Vector, couldn't whoever's holding Knuckles' dad prisoner have picked someplace less, y'know, scary?" Ray asked.

"Don't sweat it, Ray, us Chaotix have been in tougher- Hey!"

Vector spotted something and called the others.

"Is it just me? Or did somebody just crank the smoke machine up to eleven?"

Everyone turned and froze.

"Vector's right!"

"But how...?"

"Look- figures moving in the mist!"

All of the figures reveal to be the echidnas but in their dark cloak and mechanics as they held flame swords. Everyone got into their fighting stance.

"Well, if it isn't the Dark Legion..." Knuckles grinned. "...then I'm not fast, cool or good looking!"

"I thought I'd never see them again." Y/N grinned, pulling out her whip.

"Everybody- scatter!!"

Everyone all fight against the Dark Legion that are surrounding them. They are a cult of antisocial technology-obsessed echidnas. In other words, bad news! Y/N wrapped the two dark echidnas with her whip after taking away their flame swords and threw them towards Mighty as he easily punched them off. She didn't noticed one was about to attack her from behind until Mighty came and punched them right in the face. He wrapped his arm around her waist and dipped her down as he flick off another dark echidna.

"Thanks, show off." Y/N smiled, rolling her eyes.

"Anything for you, darling." Mighty smirked, dipping her back up and quickly made the echidnas head butted each other. "How're you doing back there, Vector?"

"The... uhh... heat is on, Mighty!"

"Nyah-Nyah!" Ray stuck his tongue out, dodging the laser.

"Stop horsing around, Ray!" Espio scolded with a smile after easily taking one down.

"Sorry, Espio- This is fun!"

"Nice moves, Charmy!" Julie-Su grinned, punching down the cloaked echidna.

"Thanks, Julie-Su!" Charmy grinned, spinning them off.

Just as they were about to win, a voice stopped them.

"Everybody! Please!"

They turned to see a female echidna in a golden robe.

"Stop fighting! We're all on the same side!"

"M-Mom...?" Knuckles stuttered.

Knuckles' mom hugged him.

"Knuckles! I'm so glad to see you!"

"Welcome, Avatar!"

"Ava-? Wynmacher?"

She turned and gasped happily to see Y/N who wave at her.

"Oh, my! Y/N! How good to see you, too!"

She hugged her tight and squished Y/N's cheeks.

"Oh, you should really marry my son right away!"

Knuckles and Y/N blushed at the word 'marry'. Sonic made a 'bleh' sound.

"M-Mom!!!!"

Knuckles' mom giggled and pulled away and turned to him again.

"Your stepfather and I have missed you, son!"

"I missed you, too, mom, but why the heck are you guys hanging with the Dark Legion?" Knuckles asked, pointing at them angrily.

"They are Angel Island's Resistance against Robotnik and the Dingoes, Avatar!" Wynmacher explained who's bowing down before him.

"Get up off the ground, Wyn- and stop calling me that!"

"Yes, Avatar..."

"Did you hear me?"

"Yes, Avatar..."

"Huh."

Y/N snickered.

"Come with us, son! Some of you look like you could use a good meal, some rest... and a warm bath!"

On cue, Remington sure needs a bath, a lot as everyone covered their nose and backed away from him.

A portal ring was set up as Knuckles look through.

"Sonic...? Y/N...? I don't think we're in Knothole anymore!"

Sonic and Y/N look through to find themselves in the hidden place zone with the all the echidnas with their banners chanting at Knuckles.

"Avatar! Avatar!"

"Sheesh!"

"That would have been me if I didn't get a reception like this when I came back from the dead..." Y/N said.

"Don't remind me." Knuckles said, not wanting to remember her death. "What are all of these echidnas doing here?"

"Living in freedom now that the Dark Legion had liberated them from Robotnik's prison camps."

Sonic and Y/N turned to see a white echidna, and on his forehead rests a swirling pattern. His eyes have black sclera and yellow irises. He wears a silver belt with a crescent moon symbol on the buckle and a black cape with horizontal white and black stripes on the inside, which is held by a golden clasp inscribed with an identical symbol. His forearms and lower legs are covered with black guards or sleeves adorned with Warp Rings, while his hands and feet are wrapped in bandages like a mummy.

"Uhh... Who're you?"

"Call me... Dr. Finitevus." he greeted with an evil smile that made Y/N feel uneasy. "As you can see, this underground cavern is a sanctuary where our species can live without Dingo Oppression. Follow me."

Dr. Finitevus guided them to a familiar shrine, except there's no Master Emerald on top of where it supposed to be. The doctor suddenly turn to Y/N rather creepily, making her back away a bit.

"What's your name, dear?"

"Y/N... Why?"

"No reason. Say, that's a nice necklace you got there. Where did you get that?"

Y/N grabbed her ruby pendant out of instinct and glared at him.

"That's none of your business."

He chuckled and turned to the door as they reached their destination.

"Enter."

The door opened to reveal Lien-Da that they thought they never want to see, especially Knuckles and Julie-Su.

"M'lady... they have arrived."

"Oh, comfort and joy." she grinned.

"Kommisar!" Knuckles exclaimed with a hateful glare.

"Why do formal, Knuckles? You can call me, Lien-Da. Aren't we friends? And family? Right, stepsister?"

"Hmf." Julie-Su glared.

"Mom, is this a joke? We received a garbled message that dad was being held here on the island... then we traced the messages transmission signal to this location, so where is dad?"

"Locke isn't here, son, that's why I contacted you."

"What?!" Y/N exclaimed.

"You?!" Knuckles exclaimed.

"Who but? After your father was captured by the new dingo leader, General Kate, 'Mommy Dearest' here used our telecommunications port to breach Robotnik's jamming signal and get in touch with you." Lien-Da explained, still smirking. "Frankly, I'm surprised you responded."

"Where is the Master Emerald?"

Both Knuckles and Lien-Da have a glaring contest until she moved away.

"Sonic, Y/N, and Knuckles- come with me. Everyone else- stay here."

Y/N looked back at Knuckles' mom with disappointment and followed after them. She noticed Dr. Finitevus was staring at her and looked away. In the dark hallway, Y/N could see everything is almost empty except for the picture that revealed to be Eggman and Sonic and herself fighting for the Master Emerald. Ah, those memories. Y/N then saw something that caught her eye. It is what looks like a crib with an orange shape like a triangle with a fur sticking up.

She kept walking, raising her eyebrow at the unknown until one eye sticks out. Y/N gasped in fright and stopped. The one eye creature stare at her as Y/N doesn't know what to do. She tilted her head in curiosity and the creature copied her. Y/N moved her head back straight in shock as the creature copied her again. She looked on and decided to test it and winked. It winked her back.

"Hey! Sis! You okay? Come, there's something you need to see." Sonic said, looking over at her in concern.

"Oh, uh, sorry. I'm coming." Y/N said, looking back at the orange creature and left.

The one eye creature reveal to have three blue eyes and its body turned to have four legs with red stripes that was hidden.

The orange alien creature got off and decided to follow after Y/N quietly.

"Does that look like what I think it looks like, or it just me?" Sonic asked.

"Yeah, why does look like us?" Y/N asked.

"It's not you, and at the same time, it is you and Y/N- that tapestry shows Super Sonic and Super Y/N squaring off against Eggman, question is: who weaved it?" Knuckles explained, looking at Lien-Da.

"We don't know. This palace is possibly thousands of years old. That old, moth-eaten tapestry was here when the Dark Legion found the secret ring portal entrance-ways leading to this place."

"But the island is only..."

"Enough of that mystery. For now, behold..."

The door opened and the green light blinded them.

"...the Master Emerald!"

It is true what she said as the giant green emerald stand before them unharmed.

"Whoa!"

"The only thing keeping Angel Island afloat!"

"How on Mobius did it end up in this underground shrine?"

Lien-Da grinned menacingly.

"When Robotnik's forces invaded Echidnaopolis, the brotherhood of Guardians fought to ensure that the emerald wouldn't fall into his clutches. They succeeded, but are still missing to this day. Thirty six hours ago, as the Dingoes approached Haven, your father- Locke- the Emerald's current guardian- entrusted its care to my Dark Legion- while he remained behind to face the enemy."

"Your Dark Legion? What happened to Dimitri? Doesn't he run this outfit?"

"My great-grandfather was no longer... with us. I'm in charge, at last."

"Wait a- YEAEAAARGHH!!"

"Knuckles/Knux?!"

Y/N quickly came over to his aid as Lien-Da walked away in triumph.

"What's the matter, 'Avatar'? Not feeling so well?"

"P-pain..."

"Perhaps you're not as invincible as those superstitious idiots outside believe you to be..."

Later... everyone is by the campfire as Y/N still comforts Knuckles who's looking down.

"What happened, Knuckles?" she asked in concern.

"Yeah, why'd you get sick inside of the shrine?" Sonic asked.

"The goddess Aurora warned me there would be serious consequences if I chose to return from the afterlife." Knuckles explained. "Instead of giving me energy like it did in the past, looks like the Master Emerald is sapping me of what little I have and I can't do a thing about it!"

Y/N wrapped her arm around him.

"Hey, have faith."

"I don't get it!" Mighty exclaimed. "Why are we sitting around moping when we should be out cracking more dingo skulls?"

"Our double agent has not yet contacted us. Once he does, we shall know where Kate and his ilk have imprisoned Locke..." Dr. Finitevus explained who came out of nowhere.

A female and male echidna came over to Knuckles with a child in their arms.

"A-Avatar...?"

"We're sorry. My name is Pollu. My wife, Meri-Ca, and I are deeply spiritual people... and have always believed in the prophecy of the ancient walkers that speaks of your miraculous powers. During Robotnik's invasion our daughter, Desi-Ca... lost her sight in both eyes."

Y/N gasped to see Desi-Ca's eyes is indeed blank with no colors.

"The Dark Legion offered to fashion cybernetic implants to restore her vision, but we couldn't accept. Not when the prophecy states that the Avatar can perform miracles!" Meri-Ca said.

Just then, Dr. Finitevus exploded in anger towards Meri-Ca. Y/N went in front of her in protection.

"You were imbeciles to refuse our offer of science! That prophecy is no more than a cruel superstition! Tell me- where has your so-called 'Avatar' been this past year? Where was he while you were languishing in Robotnik's prison camp? Off playing errand-boy to the Kingdom of Acorn!"

"Hey! Don't lash out on her! And don't you dare talk about my friend like that!"

"Oh, please! Like you'd ever know about him or the prophecy!"

The doctor turned to Meri-Ca again who flinched.

"He cared nothing about your welfare, yet you bow down before him, while thumbing your noses at your true benefactors! Bah!"

He then walked away. Y/N turned to her.

"You alright, miss?"

"Yeah. Thank you."

"Sheesh! Somebody sure didn't need that extra cup of coffee this morning!" Sonic said nervously. "Look... uhh... folks? The.. er... 'Avatar'.. could use a few minutes..."

"No! Pollu... Meri-Ca... Wait. I...I'm sorry, but I don't have the power to help you. I'm not the one the prophecy speaks of." Knuckles said.

"Yo, yo, hold up!" Vector said. "How do we know that for sure?"

"Because the prophecy of the ancient walkers is bunk, Vector!" Julie-Su said. "That's how! You heard Dr. Finitevus!"

"What a big surprise, Julie-Su! You agree with the Dark Legion!"

This made her mad and got into his face.

"What's that supposed to mean, suitcase face?"

"I'm saying it sure feels like ol' home week 'round here! Do I really need to ready you the fine print?"

Knuckles went between them and pushed them away.

"Cool it, you two! I'm sick and tried of the way this mission has been going!"

"Knuckles..." Y/N frowned.

"Ever since we arrived on Angel Island we've been hit with one surprise after another! Fascist dingoes! Echidna prisoner camps! Ancient prophecies! Kommisar in control! Well, I've had it with surprises, people! I-"

"Knuckles...? Son...? There's someone I want you to meet."

Knuckles turned around to face her and he froze.

"Mom...? Who's this?"

Before he knew it, a baby was in his arms and the baby started hitting him on the head with the spin rattle.

"It's your baby brother!"
