Y/N, Sally, and Dimitri stand in front of the Council of Acorn for a meeting. Not too long ago, Y/N brought Kirby home to her treehouse to let him rest and was just out to the Lake of Rings when she happened to bump into Dimitri. She was shocked and demanded him on how he get there in case he's planning something terrible, but what he said surprised her. She could tell something was wrong as he asked her where Knuckles is and told him that he's been away for the past few days in Angel Island. That's where they're here after Y/N guided him to New Mobotropolis where he can get help.

"Now that the Council of Acorn have gathered, you have the floor, Mr. Dimitri. Tell us everything you know about this 'Enerjak' person." Elias said.

"Of course, King Elias." Dimitri said.

Nicole appeared next to Sally.

"It looks like Sonic has stalled him, Sally and Y/N."

Y/N growled, feeling frustrated that her threat is not enough for him to keep away from them.

"I knew he would. Keep us posted, Nicole."

Nicole nodded and disappeared as Dimitri began to explain.

"I was Enerjak at one point myself. Understand that ages ago, I was a brilliant chaos scientist. In my arrogance, I tried to absorb the powers of the Chaos Emeralds, and I was transformed. I was no mere 'person.' I was a God. As Enerjak, I thought myself unstoppable. I would have conquered all of Mobius! But my power was stolen. Centuries of aging caught up with me. I was nearly undone, until the Dark Legion rescued me with their cybernetic processes. It was not a perfect solution, however. With my life still ebbing away, I allowed Dr. Finitevus to disassemble me in hopes of finding a way to return me to my former power."

"And you trusted him with your life?" Sally asked, crossing her arms.

"Try to understand, princess. At that point, I was desperate. I thought he was genuinely loyal like the rest of the Dark Legion."

"Sometimes you can't trust anyone even if they're part of the group. They'll just use you and stab you in the back. That's why I'd rather be careful around others before trusting them." Y/N pointed out, looking at him.

"I'm fully aware of that." Dimitri said.

"So if you're not going to be Enerjak, who is?" Uncle Chuck asked.

"I do not know, Sir Charles. I came looking for aid the moment I realized Finitevus had betrayed me. Yet, I hadn't anticipated that the last bastion of 'Freedom' on Mobius would be so slow to act."

"My first concern is my people. We're not going to rush to arms without a solid plan." Elias said.

"As a field leader, I can tell you that the Freedom Fighters are ready and willing to go to Angel Island at a moment's notice." Sally said, making Y/N nodded in agreement.

"Precisely. Stop this madness before it begins." Dimitri said.

"BUt like King Elias said, we don't want you going without every advantage. We can only spread Nicole and her nanites so thin." Dylan Porcupine said.

"Dylan, who says we need to be protected—?"

"Then send the Chaotix. They claim Angel Island as their home."

"It's true that the Chaotix are free agents..." Elias started.

"But...?" Dimitri and Y/N questioned.

"...They've risked their lives for my people. They're entitled to our protection as much as anybody else."

After a lot of debating, they all came to a decision and ended the meeting as Y/N and sally left the castle when Nicole appeared in front of them with worry.

"Sally! Y/N! Trouble at the airfield!"

They look at each other and nodded and ran towards the King Frederick Airfield to see Sonic fighting the Chaotix as he dodged the attack from Mighty and Julie-Su.

"Knuckles is out there and needs our help!" Julie-Su shouted.

"Yeah, but—"

"And now the council wants to keep us trapped here while—OW!"

Julie-Su tried to karate chop Sonic, but ended up hitting Mighty's sheep instead after Sonic dodged it by jumping over.

"GAH!" Mighty cried out in pain.

Julie-Su held her hand in pain.

"You talk about 'unity,' but nobody is free to do anything without your say-so. I thought we were your friends, not your pet mercenaries."

Sonic was quiet for a minute and scratched his head.

"You got me there, 'Su. I don't think it's a good idea, but I'm not going to fight you guys over it anymore."

Sally walked over to Sonic and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Well said, Sonic. All the same, we need the Chaotix here."

"Is this the part where you bring the Freedom Fighters in to stop us?"

"No, this is the part where I try to find a compromise between our plans. It only makes sense... Enerjak will attack the most important places on Mobius, and New Mobotropolis is one of them. We need everyone we can get right here."

"That doesn't help find Knuckles! For all we know, Enerjak has him already!"

"Nicole just sent a probe to Angel Island. We'll know what's going on very soon."

"A nanite-powered camera isn't going to help!"

"Which is why I'll be sending my best and brightest on a search-and-rescue mission."

Tails flew down and high fived Sonic and Y/N.

"I like this plan!"

"But the Council of Acorn...?"

Y/N sighed, rubbing her forehead.

"If you listen further, they voted and gave Sally a clearance to command the Freedom Fighters. Learn to listen more before coming up to conclusion. That will only lead to consequences as you and your friends did just now."

"Better get the Tornado ready to go, Tails... If the Chaotix didn't wreck it or something." Sonic said.

"I'm on it!" Tails nodded and flew over to the Tornado that's not damaged.

"I'm sorry, Sally and Y/N." Julie-Su said, looking down in shame. "It's just... I'm worried. You weren't there to see Enerjak last time... And you're right, Y/N... It did lead to consequences."

"I understand better than you think." Sally said, forgiving her.

"It's alright. It happens when you're so caught up on someone you truly care for." Y/N said, patting her shoulder.

"Now let's meet up with the others."

"Relax, 'Su! Knowing our luck, we'll get there just in time! You coming, sis?" Sonic said.

"I think I'm gonna have to stay here for now. Someone needs to be there to protect our new home. Plus, I've got a bad feeling about this."

Sonic nodded in understanding and hugged her.

"Be safe."

Y/N hugged him back.

"I will. I can handle myself."

"I know."

They pulled away as Sonic headed to the Tornado.

Y/N, Sally, Nicole, Julie-Su, and Dimitri are in the control center of New Mobotropolis. Y/N look down, feeling nervous for what's going to happen to Knuckles as Julie-Su noticed that and patted her shoulder. Nicole is talking to Sonic and Tails as Sally was on the computer trying to call the other Freedom Fighters.

"Sonic? Tails? This is Nicole in New Mobotropolis. I'll be monitoring your two from here. Good luck."

"Downunda Freedom Fighters, do you copy?" Sally tried to call, but no answers. "Something is scrambling everything I sent out. Monkey Khan, do you copy?"

"It has to be Enerjak! Did you not notice that Angel Island is floating right towards us? If you'd only acted as soon as I—"

Nicole cut Dimitri off

"We will be well-prepared for him, Dimitri. The probe I sent to Angel Island has arrived. Beginning live feed now. Julie-Su, can you tell us what we're seeing?"

"That's Cavem Camus, the Dingo City. They're doomed."

"Oh no.." Y/N mumbled.

They watch as Enerjak stripped all of the technical implants from the dingoes before sending them to Sandopolis Desert on the far side of Angel Island. He then destroyed Kage and the city by vanishing them into nothing. Enerjak was then attacked by the armies of the Dark Legion. He was confronted by the leader of the Frost Legion and turned out to be Remington. Y/N was shocked to see him alive, but covered with technical implants before he was turned to his original form and his memories are restored by Enerjak. He then removed the rest of the technical implants from the echidnas as Lien-Da was in rage and confronted him. But Enerjak ignored her and left her stranded and brought to those who are thankful along with Remington to the Albion. Y/N couldn't believe that this is happening and hated feeling helpless.

"Do something! He's brutalizing my people!" Dimitri demanded.

"S-Sally?" Nicole asked, stuttering.

"R-Right! There's still one channel I haven't tried yet!"

"You're the A.I. that controls this city, aren't you? Construct a weapon to strike now while we have time!"

"I will not devote the nanites or this city to weapons of any kind. Sonic and Tails are on Angel Island right now, and..."

"Nicole, have they found Knuckles yet?" Y/N asked in worry.

"They... had some trouble getting into the Chaos Chamber. I should have update from them soon. I'm sure he..."

"The last time Knuckles faced Enerjak, he was vaporized! This time, there aren't any Ancient Walkers to rescue him! So would you please tell those two to pick up the pace?!" Julie-Su shouted in anger and sadness.

"As much as I'm worried for Knuckles, you should calm down. Getting upset will not help." Y/N assured her and turned to find Dimitri gone.

"G.U.N. Headquarters, this is Sally Acorn! Please respond!"

Just then, the screen revealed Rouge.

"Speak up, sweetheart! I can barely understand you."

"Rouge?!" Y/N and Sally exclaimed in shock.

"Keep talking, Sally. I'll do what I can to strengthen the signal." Nicole suggested.

"We are being threatened by something worse than Dr. Eggman. We're cut off from all other allies, and we need any support you can send us!"

"Hold the fort, princess. Our newest and best agent is in the area. I'll send him yo— KSSSHK!!!"

Rouge as gone from the screen before she can finish her sentence.

"Rouge? Rouge!" Y/N called.

"We've lost intact. That was our last option." Sally said in defeat.

"At least we got through to somebody. If our luck holds out, the boys will find..."

"Yo, Nicole! Sonic here!" Sonic called from the intercom.

"I copy. Did you find Knuckles?" Nicole replied.

"No, the dork isn't here! We're going to head for Echidnaopolis. See if any of the villagers know anything."

"Understood. We're almost out of time."

"I know, I know! We'd be gone already if Mr. Paranoid hadn't hidden this place so well..."

Suddenly, Nicole screamed and held her head in pain.

"Nicole?!!" Sally and Y/N exclaimed in worry.

"He's coming!"

Y/N's eyes widen as she knew who she was talking about as the alarms went off. She look at the screen to see the echidna in a blue tunic and golden armor standing outside of the city walls.

"Sonic! Tails! Enerjak is just outside the city gates! Get back here!"

"On our way, Nicole."

Soon, all the Freedom Fighters and Chaotix are running out to meet their new enemy.

"Freedom Fighters and Chaotix! To the front! Royal guard, secure the king and acorn council! Everyone else take shelter!" Sally ordered.

Mighty and Julie-Su look at Y/N in concern as they notice she had a down expression.

"Y/N? You okay?" Mighty asked.

"No... They haven't found Knuckles... I'm worried for him. I'm sure he's still out there."

"I hope you're right... But I think Knuckles is gone." Julie-Su said sadly.

Y/N didn't want to hear that and looked up along with others to see Enerjak floating above the city barrier.

"Stay calm, everyone. The city's force field held off the full power of the Egg Fleet." Nicole assured them.

But she was wrong as Enerjak easily lift up the shield with his Chaos powers and floated down and landed right in front of them. Y/N took out her katana and got into her defending stance.

"I come with no intent to harm any of you. I've come to make things right."

For some reason, the voice sounded familiar and Y/N could've swore it, but didn't want to believe.

"We've seen all the 'good' you brought to Angel Island. If you don't want this to turn violent, then leave now!" Sally demanded, pointing at him.

"It's too late for that!"

Y/N stood in front of Enerjak and pointed her blade with a glare.

"I don't care what you do to me, but I'll make you pay for destroying my dear friend Knuckles!"

Enerjak uses his Chaos energy to take away her katana, surprising her.

"Destroy? Do to you?"

He removed his helmet and Y/N froze in shock as her heart dropped while everyone else went wide eyed.

"I would never hurt you, Y/N, my love. And I can't very well destroy myself!"

It was revealed to be Knuckles who is the dreaded Enerjak!!
