Y/N woke up the next morning and found herself in her bad. That surprised her. She wondered how'd she get here. She turned to her side to see Kirby sleeping on the pillow next to her with a cute small snore. Y/N pat his head, making him wake up.

"Morning, Kirby."

"Pooteetah."

"How did I get here?"

"Pooteetah, pooteetah, pooteetah."

"Fiona brought me here?"

Kirby nodded in affirmation. She was about to ask him again when she got a call from her wrist watch and picked it up to see her brother called her.

"Hey, bro."

"Hey, sis. Just wanted to let you know that we found the white Chaos Emerald from the destruction in Nanite City from Rotor. You don't want to know what was inside." Sonic said, shivering a little. "Other than that, we're going to meet Merlin at Freedom HQ. He has something he's been planning with the Chaos Emerald. Don't know what he means. You in for a mission?"

Y/N thought for a moment and nodded.

"Sure. On my way."

She turned off the wrist watch and puts on her roller skates. Kirby got out of the pillow and jumped onto her shoulder as they left the treehouse to the Freedom HQ.

Y/N and Kirby made it to see her brother, Tails, Knuckles, and Merlin. Knuckles was holding a round green gemstone.

"Uncle Merlin! Why do we need the Chaos Emerald? What favor is Sally repaying?" Tails asked.

"And what do you need me and the Guiding Star Gem for?" Knuckles asked.

"Patience, young ones. This old charlatan has one more trick up his sleeve." Merlin said. "Namely, I'm going to make Tails' parents reappear."

"Mom and dad are coming back?!" Tails asked in excitement.

"Wow! That's great!" Y/N smiled.

"All we need is something to open a path to the ring world of Argentum and something to power such an incredible journey."

"Hey, the Guiding Star Gem makes portals to distant lands, so... Oh, wait, I get it."

They all sat in a circle crisscross around the Chaos Emerald with a Guiding Star Gem on top as they put their hands on the emerald.

"Knuckles, guide the energies for us. Tails, reach out with your heart and find them. I will help keep us intact. Sonic, Y/N... hold on to something." Merlin instructed them.

"Yeah, yeah. Wish I knew where Fiona was. She might've enjoyed this."

Y/N said nothing about that and closed her eyes along with everyone else as they were being lifted off the ground and moved really fast. When they opened them, they never expect to see this place as it's in a middle of a war with spaceships blasting each other.

"Holy— This is not how I left this place!" Sonic exclaimed in shock.

"What happened here?" Knuckles asked, holding the emerald and gem protectively.

"...Oh, no... Mom!!! Dad!!!"

Tails run off to find his parents.

"Tails! Wait!"

Merlin runs after his niece.

"Guys! Wait! We need to stick together!" Y/N exclaimed.

"Pooteetah!"

Sonic pointed up at the sky, looking.

"Ooooh snap. Knuckles, sis, do you guys recognize those spaceships?"

"The Xorda." Knuckles said, looking up as well.

"Yikes." Y/N cringed, making Kirby whimper in her arms.

"I guess this explains why they haven't come back for us yet."

"Who are they fighting, though? Those aren't the Local Bems' ships."

"They're the Metarex."

Sonic, Y/N, Kirby, and Knuckles turned around to see a male brown fox with blue eyes and a female brown fox with light blue eyes as they're both wearing torn blue and yellow clothes. Y/N immediately recognized them.

"And they are just as bad as the Xorda. They started fighting months ago, and it doesn't look like they'll ever stop."

"Hello, Sonic and Y/N. Welcome back to what's left of the ring-world."

"The Prowers!"

"Amadeus and Rosemary!"

"Hold that thought!"

Sonic zoomed off and then came back with Tails and Merlin.

"Here we go! See what you missed, you spaz?!"

Rosemary hugged Merlin.

"Merlin!"

"Rosemary... It's been so long."

Amadeus shook hands with Merlin.

"I knew you'd come for us in time."

"I helped, but a great deal of the thanks goes to your son."

Tails looked hesitant and nervous as he fiddled his fingers.

"Go on, you doof." Sonic said, pushing him forward.

"Everything's going to be okay, Tails." Y/N assured him, patting his head.

"Pooteetah." Kirby said.

"I'm goin', I'm goin'..."

He walked up to them as they look at each other.

"Our son..." Amadeus said.

Rosemary knelt down to his level and moved the bangs from his eyes as she's in tears.

"Miles... You're already so big and handsome."

"E-Everybody calls m-me... Tails." Tails said with tears in his eyes.

Tails' parents kneel down and hugged Tails.

"Then 'Tails' it is." Amadeus said with a smile.

"You're still our boy."

"I'm never letting go of you again!"

Y/N wiped a tear from her eye as Knuckles and Sonic gave each other a fist bump. Merlin then activated the emerald and the gem as they headed back home.

While, Tails, Rosemary, and Amadeus are at the Castle Acorn, Y/N, Kirby, and Sonic are outside the Knothole Cemetery. Y/N placed two of the bundle of roses by Tommy's and Connery's gravestone. Kirby placed the two white daisies by each of the gravestones after. A shadow loomed over them as Y/N smiled without looking back.

"Hey, Knuckles." she greeted.

"How'd you know it's me?" Knuckles smirked.

"I can sense your aura and your spirit."

"Still haven't seen Fiona?"

"No. Sometimes I wish I knew where she's been off to lately."

"Same for me, sis."

"Why are you three out here? It's not like you two to be so morbid. Well, not to Sonic, I mean."

"I'm still hurtin' over Tommy and Sir Connery. We don't usually lose so many so fast." Sonic said, looking at the gravestones.

"Yeah..." Y/N sighed as Kirby comforts her by hugging her arm.

"Right. Like all my forefathers in the brotherhood." Knuckles said.

"Them, too. And with the rise in the villain-count, things might get even worse." Sonic said.

"It's not going to be easy either." Y/N added.

"So what? Are you going to quit because things are rough?"

"No. I don't want folks saying I'm as weak as you."

"Who are you calling weak, slowpoke?"

"Ha!"

"I'd say you two are both slow and weak." Y/N smirked.

"Hey!!!"

They began to laugh and soon they left the cemetery.

"Catch ya on the flip side, Tommy." Sonic looked back at the gravestone as they headed to Uncle Chuck's restaurant.

"We won't let their sacrifices be in vain, Sonic and Y/N. We'll beat Dr. Eggman. We'll win this."

"Yes. We will." Y/N nodded.

"I know, I know."

"Besides, it's not like we don't have friends all over the world."

"Yeah. Although I wonder about one of them." Y/N said.

"Who?" Knuckles asked, glancing at her.

"Shadow."

"What about him? He's in New Megaopolis with Dr. Eggman."

Knuckles feels slightly jealous that she's mentioning Shadow.

"I know. But I don't think he's really one of the bad guys. I think he's confused. And once he gets things figured out, he'll do the right thing."

"How do you know for sure, sis?"

"I just know it. I see that there's goodness in him."
