BANGTAN SONYEONDAN popularly known as BTS, is a South Korean boy band formed by BigHit entertainment and debuted on June 13, 2013.

The group has seven members - Rap Monster (RM), Jin, Suga, J-hope, Jimin , V and Jungkook. RM, Suga and J-hope comprise the rapline, whereas Jimin, Jin, V and Jungkook are a part of vocal line. Also J-Hope, Jimin and Jungkook together form a dance line popularly known as 3J of the group.

BTS officially debuted with the single album '2 Cool 4 Skool' with their first Korean-Japanese language studio albums 'Dark & Wild' and 'Wake Up' respectively, released a year later.

Their official fandom is called A.R.M.Y. an acronym for 'Adorable Representative MC for Youth' and were given this name on July 9th, 2013. BTS share a strong and unbreakable bond with ARMY. BTS gave the term 'I Purple U' for ARMYs.

Hailing from an erstwhile small company BigHit Entertainment, BTS faced a lot of mistreatment and prejudice in their initial years. There were incidents reported where their performances were either cut from festival line-ups or cancelled at award shows. But it was because of their unwavering spirit and determination that they overcame every obstacle and hurdle.

The core message of the group is 'LOVE YOURSELF". In 2018 BTS partnered with UNICEF to launch the "Love Yourself Campaign" where RM, the leader of the group, gave an emotional speech about self love and self care.

In 2016, Blood Sweat and Tears was BTS' first ever musical act to top Billboard's Local 50 chart.

From winning their first ever 'Album of the Year" in 2016 to becoming the first K-pop to be nominated for the Grammy Awards twice, and the first ever band to play at the United Nations General Assembly, BTS has come a long way and has accomplished a lot.

BTS has also played an instrumental role in boosting the economy of South Korea. The tourism industry, after the popularity of the group, has seen an unexpected hike in the last decade or so.

Currently five members of the group - RM, Suga, Jimin, V and Jungkook - are completing their mandatory military services whereas Jin and J-Hope completed the same in 2024. Fans worldwide are eagerly awaiting for June 2025 when the group will be back as OT7 and will resume their group activities.
