37. In The End

Everything was perfect, so why was he such a nervous wreck?

By everything, he wasn't necessarily referring to the decorations, guest lists and such other terms of organization (although they were an added bonus to have ended well). Instead, his bride was going to make his heart burst and he was afraid. Jaehee looked heavenly, even more than usual.

The perfect image of an angel in a long, fluffy white dress with a sweetheart neckline, finished by soft yet elegant, regal hems of fabric. Resembling her and her personality so much. The flower arrangement between her fingers was composed of yellow roses, orange tulips and small, light pink flowers.

When she smiled at him, so much warmth behind golden, shimmering eyes, he almost felt like he was about to faint — which was quite a rare feeling coming from someone who was normally unaffected by everything (everything that didn't involve her or Elizabeth the 3rd, at least).

"Jumin, are you alright? You look restless."

She spoke in worry and he chastised his heart for beating so rapidly, though his face didn't give any of his thoughts away.

"I'm fine. I was just admiring how beautiful you are, and how well the dress fits you. Getting it tailored was the right decision, after all, I would only give the best to you." He glanced away and no one would have noticed the subtlety of his nervousness (at least so quickly) except for his long-time, now former assistant.

Jaehee let out a breath, resisting the urge of shaking her head in disbelief. She strolled towards him, pushing a lone, stray strand of brown hair behind her ear; trying to not ruin the elegant crown braid and updo the stylist had given her not too long ago.

She carefully sat down next to him, making sure to fold the dress beneath her, and her hands lingered over the cuffs of his tailored suit and she beamed at him.

Slightly confused, the corporate heir asked, "Why do I feel you're looking straight through me?"

"Because I am," Jaehee replied simply. "You're being jittery. If you feel anxious, you should tell me."

"I don't feel anxious, and I'm not 'being jittery'."

Jaehee's smile was replaced by her raising her eyebrows slightly. "So you say, yet I can see your knee shaking, and your heartbeat is frenzied." She pointed towards his wrist with a sidelong glance, which she had casually been holding up to that point. Cunning, he admitted to himself. "Mr. Han, you know I know you well."

He released a breathy laugh in response, which she returned. Sometimes, the names 'Mr. Han' and 'Assistant Kang' just slipped. A force of habit.

"Indeed, Assistant Kang." He played along, earning himself a clearly irked look from Jaehee. "You do know me more intimately than anyone, which is why you should know that I never feel nervous," he stated.

"I didn't feel nervous when I signed billion dollar contracts, when I directed international meetings with affluent maganants, or when I designated all that needed to be bought and rented for this wedding."

Despite his stoic approach, Jaehee knew there was more to it. She reached out her hand, gently pushing back a few strands of dark hair that he unknowingly allowed to fall out of place. "Yet?"

His anxious eyes met hers, finally admitting defeat. "Yet now I feel more incredibly anxious than I have ever felt in my whole life. How can you be so tranquil and relaxed?" he asked in sheer puzzlement.

As if giving up an important secret, she leaned close to his ear and whispered, "I took some tranquilizing pills before arriving here," she revealed with a small, embarrassed smile. "I didn't tell you because I didn't think you'd need them. You can take some of you want, they're in my bag—"

She had not expected for her normally composed fiancé to all but lunge into the handbag, quickly digging through its contents until he found the medicine, chugging it all down in one go in a state of desperation.

"Wait— Jumin!" Jaehee instantly flinched in astonishment, holding him back before confiscating it. "You're going to poison yourself!"

Jumin's shoulders finally relaxed from their previous tight position and he sighed, Jaehee felt him breathing in deeply, still holding him from behind in what was now an embrace. He dazedly stared at the ground, clearly still nervous.

"Jumin," Jaehee said his name softly, clasping his hand with hers and leaning her head on his back. "You don't have to worry so much. Everything will be fine. Everything is already perfect as it is... Everything I want to do today, for the rest of my life..."

He slowly looked up, then towards her, until their eyes connected, with her smiling warmly at him.

"Is to be with you."

Suddenly, he felt as if all his anxiousness drained away. (The tranquilizer couldn't have taken effect this quickly).

He smiled.

"Man, aren't they lasting a little too long back there?" Zen asked in a mixture of concern and confusion.

"Don't be so twitchy! Have you seen how gigantic and lavish everything is around here? I wouldn't be shocked if they're still counting guests or how many chandeliers they put on the roof." Seven replied without an ounce of the actor's reflective worry, merrily taking bites of the hors d'oeuvres laid across the sophisticated but small table where the RFA members sat, the nearest to the place the vows would be made.

"Both you and Yoosung will end up with stomachaches if you keep eating like that." Zen nagged, hearing Mi-Cha laugh next to him.

"It's fine, Zen! Are you going to replace Jaehee as the nagging one?" Seven teased, winning an annoyed glare from said man.

"You know, I'm surprised Jaehee agreed to having such a big and extravagant wedding," Yoosung commented, competing with Seven to which of them could eat the most appetizers in one minute. "Not that I'm complaining." He grinned wide when Seven raised his arms in defeat. "I just thought she'd want a more simple and small event."

Mi-Cha smiled, her head lying comfortably on Zen's shoulder, as his cheek casually rested on the top of her head. (No one would be shocked if they suddenly stated they were dating). "Jaehee is fine with it because she knows Jumin would be more comfortable in an environment like this, and she doesn't want to hurt his image."

"Jaehee's kind like that." Zen smiled. "I bet the Trust-Fund Kid doesn't even know. But even him..." He paused before his smile grew wider with sincerity. "I'll never fully approve of him, but Jaehee's happy, and he'll take good care of her, so I give my blessing to them."

"I don't think he asked for your blessing—or if he even cares about it." Seven sniggered, mirthfully successful in irritating Zen.

MC laughed again. "Come on, Seven. Jumin and Zen have finally made up, haven't they?"

Zen nodded, an unexpected smile appearing on his face. "We have. He's not as insufferable as I thought, I guess." he admitted, huffing. "I may have been projecting someone else's image on him a little. I'm glad of how everything ended up though."

"To think that Kyungju girl could have ruined all of this had they not caught her," Mi-Cha said, seething. "I still can't believe what she did."

"It's another level of crazy," Zen agreed, before sighing. "At least she's in jail now. Even money won't be getting her out of there anytime soon, considering everything she's pulled."

Their chatter gradually progressed to other subjects when the curtain in front of them finally opened and someone's voice caught everyone's attention.

V had a microphone in his hand, dressed in a white suit, as he announced the incoming couple about to walk down towards them. It was a surprise to everyone that he was actually able to make it, but deep down, they knew that V wouldn't have turned down being his childhood friend's best man (even with whatever secrets he was hiding that often held him back).

He smiled brightly, something even the RFA didn't get to see often. "Bride and groom, you may enter!"

Jumin and Jaehee felt as if they were in their own world, inhabited by just the two of them. Walking on clouds would feel less ethereal.

The raven-haired man looked at her, eyes glistening. "Let's go."

Her own eyes sparkled as a small smile appeared on her face. She nodded.

The crowd cheering and surrounding them didn't affect them in the slightest, and all of Jumin's nerves had completely disappeared the moment she wrapped her arm around his elbow, gifting him with a sweet smile before the two stepped forward.

All memories filled with this same kind of warm happiness flooding back, all the times they held hands before, all the times they kissed before, all the embraces and adoring gazes. They would all last forever, it was almost too good to be true for either of them. It was all a few steps away from heaven.

To think their childhood promise, having been renewed as adults, not thanks to a business proposal, life-long partnership or a shallow sense of duty, was truly going to become their new reality? A reality they both hoped would be timeless.

V smiled softly as they finally reached him—both radiant with smiles as they walked together, the joy and excitement in their hearts was evident.

After their vows were exchanged, Jumin slowly leaned down while Jaehee met him halfway. Their kiss was slow and steady, taking their time expressing every deep feeling they held for each other as the crowd of people broke into applause, the RFA being the most intense.

Seven was whooping almost as if he were supporting the winning team in a sports game instead of attending a wedding, while Yoosung was bawling his eyes out next to him—the hopeless romantic, and Zen and Mi-cha grinned happily, sincerely feeling happy for them.

Now married and eventually pulling away, they stared at each other's eyes for a long moment before Jumin spoke.

"Every moment of mine was you." The soft murmur of his voice and the smile that never left brought a new feeling to her. He leaned down to her ear to softly whisper the last words. "I promise, Jaehee... Every moment that will come will always be with you. I'll always be by your side."

She smiled warmly. "I know. So will I, Jumin."

In the end, they both knew—nothing would ever replace these precious moments.

This is the end! I'm sorry for lasting so long to finish this! But I wanted to give you the best I could for a finale. Thank you for accompanying me through such a long ride. I sincerely hope you liked it!
