Q&A about the Stories

Q&A about the Stories

*(If you haven't read these books, be careful as spoilers will almost certainly be lurking in almost every question or answer).*

Do you have some questions about my stories? If so, please create an in-line comment beside the story you are asking about. Otherwise, I can very easily miss it.

There is a section for story-specific questions and then an area below for other questions about my books in general. There are author-related questions in the next chapter.  :)

*Story-Specific Questions: (books are listed in the order of newest to oldest)

Questions about A New Beginning (sequel to Upon Wings of Change):

Questions about A Starship Called Starsong:

Questions about Tips for Writing on Wattpad:

Why did you make a writing guide?

It wasn't in my original plans, but various people asked for help with their stories, and I discovered that I was writing the same advice over and over - so much that it got to the point where I just copied and pasted the information. Thus, I decided to make a guide with more details that I can guide people to.

Do you help people edit their stories?

Unfortunately, I lack the time to help people edit their stories. This book does give a lot of guidance on the basic things to fix up so that it is more readable and likely to draw readers in. It also contains information about the best ways to advertise your stories.

Questions about When The Heart Sings:

Questions about The Virus Within:

This story is currently being revised offline. Many loose ends like Louise and Trinity's sister will be addressed, along with the plot holes and other issues.  :)

What does Nicky have?

Cans of tomato juice and dish soap. Just joking, in reality, I never decided or put a name to it. Her personality traits are a mixture of ones I've seen in people I've met.

Questions about Looking To Belong:

Are truffles actually expensive?

Some of the more valuable ones can range between $50-120 per ounce. That may go higher out of the normal truffle season.

Questions about Upon Wings of Change:

Questions about A Different Virus - Laura's Story:

What made you decide to write a second POV for the original Heartfire story?

It was actually a special request from one of my first followers, who also encouraged me through the long process of finishing such a long story when I had to adhere to the timeline already in place.

There were also some scenes and angles I wanted to show that Diane didn't know about. It was a learning curve that I don't regret, but I have no plans on ever making another POV of the same story. (Although I may make other side stories)

Why does Laura act like a ten year old instead of a seven year old?

I based Laura off a neighbor's kid, who happens to be very smart and mature for his age. Both parents were academics at a university and didn't believe in baby talk.

He was fluent in 5 languages by the time he was seven, and could stumble through 2 other languages well enough to be understood.

Is there a reason Laura never asked Diane about her "angel" work?

It was never mentioned because it was never in Diane's POV to start with. it was something unique to Laura's POV to help explain the unexplainable

Questions about A Different Virus - Heartfire:

Will you ever publish this story in print form?

Right now, it's in an exclusive contract with Wattpad. This contract still leaves it open to traditional publishers and filmmakers, so it's possible, but most groups don't want to touch a story that is this unusual and long. (And at over 495K words, it would be 3-4 big novels)

What inspired you to write this as your first story?

When I first found Wattpad, I was just looking to read. However, I kept being tempted by the little create button that constantly sat at the top of my computer screen. Eventually, I decided to turn a daydream into a small story, perhaps 30 chapters long, just to try it out. I picked on zombies since they make such great mindless antagonists. I never expected more than a dozen people to ever read it. Somehow, it exploded into a 350,000+ word story over the course of 7 months. Then it evolved into a 495K+ beast during my next round of editing (which also took 7 months...).

How did that pregnant woman from Roland's group (who got fired) keep the baby if half of its DNA should've been the father's original unfired DNA?

Since she was pregnant while the contagious heartfire flowed in her blood, the baby would have also been infected - and heartfire accepts heartfire.

Would it be possible for anyone else with an overactive immune system to survive a zombie bite?

It could be a possibility for survival, assuming the body learned to fight it fast enough, although Heartfire was a kind of mutation that stole characteristics from a variety of cells.

Could Heartfire repair lost limbs?

Like replace a missing arm? I'm not entirely sure... Zombies can have their eyes regenerate, so it could be a possibility, although entire limbs might be pushing the bounds of reality. (Although some lizards can do it, so...)

What's the defining factor of the color of Heartfire?

The color is likely determined by a variety of genes at the time of infection. At the genetic level, even twins have slight differences.

*Other story-related questions:

Do you really allow fanfictions? Why?

Yes, I allow fanfictions or spin-offs AS LONG AS proper credit is given (Full title of my story and my username) in the summary and/or chapter 1. (And this means you can use my "world" and "rules", not copy my book or change it a bit.)

If you want, when you post it, let me know via the inbox and I can add it to my reading list that is dedicated to such spin-offs.

Please remember that due to copyright/plagiarism rules, there is a difference between merely creating original characters in my worlds versus using my characters, plot, and world. These stories should also be classified in the fanfiction genre.

As for why, why not? I know some authors are really touchy and feel that their work is being plagiarized, but if readers liked it enough that they wanted to take certain ideas or aspects of my stories and write a fanfic/spinoff on Wattpad, then I don't see any problems as long as proper credit is given.

Where do you get your covers?

Since my own artistic abilities are restricted to pitiful stickmen in a game of hangman, I have various graphic artists make them for me (some are commissioned and I own the rights to them).

The artist's name is listed in the blurb of each book.

If you are looking for a cover maker, there are hundreds of 'cover commission' or 'cover maker' books on Wattpad - just search for an active one. (Only message one person and wait for a response before contacting someone else).

Why are all of your main characters female?

Mostly because I am female and I'm not sure I can accurately portray a man's POV (men and women do think differently, as I'm sure some of you have discovered).  ;)

I did dabble with it a bit in When The Heart Sings, although Darien's personality and outlook limited what I could do. I do plan to write a story or two from a male's POV one day, but it probably won't be anytime soon.

Any other questions?
