Prologue

The city streets were crowded, bustling, with chatter, foot steps, and color. Well, to be fair, what do you expect it's a big city... I think. To be honest, it's hard to get a good scope of the place, especially when I don't know where this place is. It's kinda hard to tell with all the hurring people, the tall buildings, the flashing lights, and the traffic zooming down the road. I don't know where I'm going I'm just dodging people left, right, up, down with a red and blue duffle bag over my shoulder. People just keep brushing off against me, like they keep pushing and shoving me everywhere, not even looking up at me or giving me any time of day. It makes me feel... small and- kinda lonely, like nobody really.... cares about me. It's a kind of shitty feeling, but there's no real point to dwell on it. Wherever the hell I'm going, it better be worth it. I keep walking forward to who knows where when I feel something, like a quick little furry thing scurrying across my leg... I looked down and this shadow is running through the crowd. I watch as it scurries up and down and all around like a wild animal. I watch it go and go as I realize I'm actively following it and shoving people out of the way.

"Scuse me!"

"Sorry!"

"Coming through!"

Then I managed to push the curtain of people at the end of the sidewalk to see what it was. The metaphorical smoke cleared and I saw it... it was a tiny, little big-eyed, brown, PUPPY, AWWW. And people ignoring him?! How? Look at him, he's adorable... or she, I- I- can't really tell. But, oh my God I wanna hug it, it's SO cute. The puppy was walking down the street when a loud horn honked. A truck was driving in fast and the puppy just froze out of fear. No- Nonononono, THAT'S a collision course! Then for a quick second, the puppy turns into this bigger golden retriever dog standing in front of a car as my feet suddenly make a split decision for me. I run to the little puppy in the street and practically jump in front of him. The trucks getting closer and closer and then... I'm under rubble. A large amount of rubble is over my legs, I can't feel them I have no clue what is happening, there's blood dripping down my head and chest, I'm wearing a weird black jacket as the same puppy comes running towards.

"You can always count on me -" He said proudly.

The top of the building began rumble... a lot as dust came down and got in my eyes.

"C'mon! We gotta get out of here!"

"On the count of three pull as hard as you can."

I began pushing the rubble off my legs as he tried to pull me out from under the scaffolding, key word 'tried' I just didn't budge.

More dust. More rubble.

"One more try!" He climbed under the stone and began pushing up with all his might. As I pushed it out as hard as I could when-

SNAP.

I look up and a piece of scaffolding falls above me I struggle to escape but my legs are stuck under a block of gray cement! The puppy is still pushing, the cement is falling, I look up in horror as I brace for the impact and-

I wake up... to a white ceiling. And a small noise

Beep

Beep

Beep
