17: Hi'gh Club

Jersey Pov

Surprise, surprise.

Ruby headed us to Charley's, a popular famous bar. I had no idea how she knew about the place. There goes the sleepover I dreamt of.

Immediately Ruby hanged up on me, I had to call up Hanson, Drew's babysitter. He was a guy and believe me. He wasn't cheap. Andre won't be home till later in the night anyway.

Getting to the street, I waited for her to get in the car and get settled before I asked what the problem was. She didn't specify but she mentioned Johnny was fucked up as hell.

Ruby was the most confusing, unpredictable person I have ever met. I met her only one time and she got her mane engraved in my heart. She changed Zach's life just in two days.

The Zach I grew up with made a club his home, spending four nights a week there. In fact, he had his private room set up there. But ever since the day Ruby moved in. He stopped. I asked him a few times but he didn't answer my question.

Every little banter they had, I could always see a tiny changed look in his eyes. He always felt lonely, sad and uncared for, after Drew's birth. I tried my absolute best to be there but Ruby just in a few days made him look happy and free. Except when she pushed Zach of the pirate ship, for the millionth time. I was scared for my best friend.

As of this moment, Ruby and I were currently seated at the bar. I stared at her while she ordered one shot after another. "Hey... you want one and please, don't say no?" She said, holding one of the tiny tequila shot glasses for me. I took it quietly, she smiled happily at me before drowning down more shots.

I stared at the golden liquid in the glass. It burnt my palm through the glass. I wasn't a heavy drinker so one drink won't hurt. I swallowed the liquid in one goal and Ruby next to me squealed happily, jumping in her seat. "Again, again." She was already lightheaded, I guess she had already gulped down ten or more shots.

She picked up another cup, holding it up for me to take. I pushed her hand gently away, "no honey. Someone has gotta watch after you," I said, she pouted before gulping down the shot.

Make that eleven.

I stared out the far-off window to see the sun was nowhere in sight and the sky had already darkened. I turned back, my eyes widen. Ruby was yelling and pointing squarely at the bartender.

"You cheated on me for four years you jerk. You sleep with me first before dumping me! Johnnys. Am going to kill you."

So that's what happened! I was surprised to see her standing by the side of the road earlier with straight hair instead of the curly strands she had earlier. Almost too quickly from the corner of my eyes, I see Ruby climbing over the bar table to lurch herself on the now slightly ashen, scared bartender. He was probably thinking what kind of person she was.

Even I needed to know.

With all my strength, I pull her down from the table to sit down. She staggered a bit but she did sit down.

This was the perfect time to get sneak peaks on Swapped Up season 3 but, pass. She would probably say nonsense, scattered words.

"Enough! You. Don't give her any more shots." I told the bartender who was picking himself from the floor. He nodded quickly before scurrying away. Ruby now was throwing all her shot glasses on the floor.

"No fun!." She yelled. I pushed all the glasses from her. She took one look at the club. It was already filled with half drunk people dancing to a catchy beat. The club was already in full swing.

A few moments later, she smiled cutely. Before I could say oh-no, she slides off her chair and ran into the crowd of drunk people like her.

I noticed a black bag lying on her now empty chair. Realizing it was hers, I reached over and picked it up.

My phone buzzed inside my clutch. The named flashed on the screen. Andre.

Squinting my eyes, I looked around the drunk bar. I see Ruby dancing crazily in one corner. Sighing with relief, she was save for now. I hurriedly headed to the front of the club. I looked around for a quiet spot but there was none. Except for a dark quiet alley but, I wasn't taking any chances. At the entrance of the club, a few paparazzi were arguing with the bouncers who refused to let them in.

No doubt. Ruby was going to be in the news tomorrow.

I moved a few feet away from them, then answered my call.
"Hey... honey," I said, slightly out of breath. I needed to be quick there was no way I could leave Ruby alone in that club for long. Who knows what she would do?

"Hi, babe. Am just finishing up here. Are you okay and where are you?"

"Am at a club with Ruby, Johnny broke up with her."

"And why isn't she at home like a normal girl, bawling her eyes out?" He questioned.

"I have no idea," I replied, she was so strange.

I explained everything that transpired earlier in detail while he listened in rapid attention.

"Does... Zach know... what's happening?" He said in between laughs a few seconds after I explained. "No, I haven't told him yet. But I will."

"Do you want me to come and pick you up and Drew-" he was saying but I finished his statement. "Is at home with Hanson. Don't worry about picking me up, I would get home soon. I love you."

"I love you too." He said as I hung up. I take a step before I felt something buzzing, like a phone's vibration. I look at my blank phone before I remembered Ruby's bag. It must be her phone.

The name Mrs. Pitch flashed on the screen.

"Hello."

"Hello, is Ruby there?" The woman sounded worried.

"No, but if you want to tell her anything. I'll happily pass it to her."

I ran into the club as fast as my legs could carry me. I stopped for breath when I got to the dance floor. I spotted her with a random stranger, grinding.

I ran towards her and spun her around immediately. "What the hell?" She started saying but stopped when she realized it was me. "Ruby I have bad news..." I watched as she raised her arched eyebrows.

"It's your Dad. He died of a heart attack, an hour ago."

This chapter is way shorter than most of my chapters. So if you like/love Jersey's point of view (Pov) as much as I did, then don't forget to turn that you know, the grey star orange and comment as much as you want. I love hearing from readers.

Rukky.
