Chapter 6- Uninvited

As the purple, pink and blue hues set in the sky, the group gathered around a campfire, empty bowls of chilli in their hands.

"That was so good, Aurelie!", complimented Mikhail. "I didn't know chilli could taste so good."

"Dude you've got to try my Mum's chilli", said Duke. "Blóódy delicious it is", he said, before looking at Aurelie. "Yours is a close second."

"So, hold up. You guys found blood too?", asked Lyndi, confused as to why this man liked blood so much.

Aurelie's eyes widened. "You found blood too?"

Maaria nodded. "We weren't sure if it was that big of a deal so we didn't mention it."

"What could it mean, Aurelie?", asked Drea.

When Aurelie remained silent, Shelley cleared her throat. "Um, I have an idea."

Aurelie smiled warmly at her. "Go on, dear."

Shelley looked at Mikhail and SJ, who nodded at her. "Well, the blood we found was in a fridge. Where was the blood you found?"

"In a badly designed cupboard", replied Audrey.

"Badly designed? Are you seriously critiquing the cupboard of a dead man?", questioned Luna, in disbelief.

Opting to ignore the pair, Shelley spoke again. "That's two different environments. Maybe he was testing the different outcomes? Like some kind of experiment?"

"Testing blood? Can't be a good experiment then", said Duke.

"Hold on, scientists and medics test blood all the time. It might've been for something good", said Holly.

"I've never met the man, but I find it hard to believe he's lookin' to cure a disease, Holls", said Duke.

"I'll take it to a lab to be tested", said Giamora. "I'll let you know the results as soon as possible."

Aurelie nodded and handed her the bag of blood. "Thank you, Gia. It'd be great if we had the other blood too."

Feeling to blame, Mikhail shifted uncomfortably. "I'm sorry. I'll go back tomorrow and get one."

Aurelie shook his head. "No, no. It's ok. It's a long journey back to the lab so it might just be wasting time. We'll send one bag."

"Like literally, the symbols on it were tacky-", started Audrey, in a not so quiet conversation with Luna.

"-Symbols?", questioned Drea. "What kind of symbols?"

"There were symbols and you didn't tell us?", asked Maaria. "That could've been useful."

"I forgot! I could draw it for you now if you'd like? Probably", said Audrey.

Luna rolled her eyes and sighed. "This is important, Audrey! That could've been a key clue!"

"Well we can always go back", said Mikhail, attempting to diffuse the situation.

Audrey stood up. "You've been acting really weird since we came here. I get that this is something you wanted to do, but let's not forget that I didn't even want to be here!", she exclaimed.

Luna followed suit and stood up. "Well I wish you never came!"

"Kumbaya my Lord", started Mikhail, his voice shaky but suited to the song.

Not wanting Mikhail to be alone, especially seeing as everyone else looked at him like he he grown a second head, SJ grabbed his hand and started swaying back and forth. "Kumbaya... kumbaya, my Lord..."

Shelley wished that the ground would just swallow her up. But Mikhail and SJ had alwayd been there for her. Although she was sure she'd die of embarrassment, she wasn't about to let them get embarrassed alone. She grabbed Mikhail's free hand. "Kumbaya..."

Holly, on the other hand, was much more enthusiastic and willing. She grabbed Shelley's hand and grabbed Lyndi's hand. "KUMBAYA... KUMBAYA, MY LORD..."

Soon, the others joined in, sort of like in a domino effect of attemted harmony. Key word 'attempted.'

"I'm literally staring at Héll right now...", said Naomi.

Although some were not enthusiastic, Luna and Audrey didn't participate at all. They just stared at each other, attempting to burn holes into each other's eyes.

Suddenly, a loud growl shattered the fun of the impromptu singing session. Nearby trees rustled violently, with one crashing down to its death.

"Everyone get back!", yelled Aurelie.

Everyone rushed behind Aurelie, happily letting him shield them. Audrey ran towards him, before glancing back. Her eyes widened. "Luna, look out!"

Luna froze, her whole body paralysed with fear. She just watched as a tree came hurtling towards her. Suddenly, a body collided into hers, sending them both flying, out of the tree's way.

Stunned by the sheer impact, Luna let the stranger lift her up, not objecting when he held her waist to steady her. "Th-thanks."

The stranger smiled, rendering Luna speechless. "No worries. I'm Rocco."

Hi!

The next chaprer will show the actual introduction of LeMystical-Puffle 's other character, Glenn. As well as breakingwallsdown 's characters Rocco and Echo.
Their characters are kind of a surprise and even if you've seen Glenn's form, there's still a lot about him you don't know.
If you read the Prologue, a familiar character will come up in the next chapter.

So the group think the blood is for an experiment? But will this actually help in their quest at all?

What caused the trees to fall?

Will there be any more campfire singing sessions?

What are your thoughts on this chapter?

What can I do to improve anything at all? I'm open to feedback and would love to hear any thoughts you have.
