Chapter 3- In Or Out

[EARLIER]

Audrey and Luna lay next to each other. For all the times this had happened, and it happened often, they never got as far as clothes coming off. And they never had some meaningful chat after.

Until now.

"I think the rebels are right. We can't keep living in this controlled way. I want to see the world, Audrey."

Audrey ran her fingers through Luna's hair as she spoke. "I don't know... it's easier this way."

"I don't want 'easier' though", said Luna.

Audrey smirked. "Oh, I know. That's why it took us so long to get together."

Luna raised an eyebrow. "Get together? We just make out in a storage room. Nothing special."

Audrey nodded. "Exactly. And I like it that way."

Luna sighed. After a long pause, she spoke. "I'm going with the rebels."

Audrey sat up, her eyes wide. "What? You can't!"

"You don't have to worry about me-"

"-No, it's not that. My crazy little mind can't function on its own. It needs interaction."

"Then come with me", said Luna.

- NORMAL TIME -

Everyone had already met up with the rebels, except Shelley and Mikhail.

SJ tossed and turned in her bed. Soft pink skies appeared, with warm orange setting in below. Visions of a large field appeared. A blonde haired lady reached out for someone, someone SJ couldn't recognise. Just as the stranger was about to turn around, fire engulfed the previous visions. A girl with jet black hair lay on the ground. SJ couldn't make out her face, but she saw the blood seeping from her open wound. "Don't cross us."

SJ screamed as she awoke, the visions seeming too real. She felt her skin get hotter, as if she has been brushed by the flames.

"SJ? SJ!", called out Mikhail, who rushed into her room. He grabbed SJ's hands. "SJ... what happened?"

SJ blinked, the visions of the fire and the lifeless girl consuming her view. "No, n-no! Get away! S-stay away from her!"

Mikhail looked visibly concerned. He placed his hands on her shoulders instead. "SJ... is it your nightmares again?"

SJ nodded, slowly coming back to her senses. "It was so scary, Mikhail."

"There just nightmares, ok? They can't hurt you", said Mikhail.

SJ looked into Mikhail's eyes. She grabbed his hands, gripping them tightly. "Don't go, Mikhail. Please. It's not safe."

Mikhail's face softened. "SJ..."

"Please! Please don't go!", begged SJ, tears forming in her eyes.

Mikhail frowned, clearly conflicted. "I...I have to go. I'm sorry, SJ. I have to do this."

SJ stared at him for a few more seconds, before pushing his hands away. She got out of bed and wiped her eyes. "Then I'm coming too."

-

Everyone assembled in the Opulants' main camp. It was no surprise that they stayed in their groups and didn't interact with anyone else, save from the rebels.

"Thank you all for joining us", said Aurelie. "The first step in taking back what's ours is starting with us. Talk to your fellow humans."

Everyone seemed hesitant. Well, not Luna or Noah, but Luna felt like she wouldn't be met with a warm reception.

"You are safe here. If you wish for no one to find out about this breach of the law, then we will honour that wish", said Aurelie.

Noah stepped forward. "I'm Noah. I've only known these guys for a mere hour but they can be trusted."

"How can you be so sure?", asked Gigi.

Noah smiled. "Because you spoke to me."

Aurelie smiled. "Drea is of similar ages to you, I presume. She does not like to talk about her past, but she is a great support system for many of us here."

Drea nodded. "Hey."

"Well I for one am glad to be away from this stupid law", said Luna. "Seriously, anyone who likes it is messed up", said Luna.

SJ fought against speaking up or staying quiet. After seeing Shelley's uncomfortable expression, SJ made her decision. "Some of us have lost too much at the hands of law breakers. So it's not always easy to accept change."

Luna rolled her eyes.

"What's our plan?", asked Mikhail.

"We go to the law maker's house", said Aurelie. "It's a good place for his essence to be."

"So we're all going together?", asked Shelley. As soon as the words escaped her lips, her eyes widened. She did it. She really did it. She broke the law she fought so hard to follow.

Mikhail must've sensed this, because he decided to answer. "Yes, Shelley. That's the plan."

Shelley would have to directly speak to someone outside of her group. But it brought her comfort to know that when that time came, her original group would have her back.

"Not all of us will go", said Aurelie. "We'll split the group in half. Some will go to his house. The others will go to his old cabin."

"His cabin?", questioned Duke.

Aurelie nodded. "He often went there to relax."

"Make Hell on Earth and sit back to watch the mess?", questioned Luna. "He sounds a right laugh."

After a brief moment of exchanging names, Aurelie grouped everyone.

"The Group going to the house will be Drea, myself, Noah, Duke, Holly, Naomi, Gigi and Shelley."

They split off into their group, though they subconsciously stood with their original group members. So Shelley was alone. Noah chose to be bold and stand by Drea.

"That leaves Luna, Audrey, SJ, Mikhail, Maaria and Lyndi. You'll travel to his cabin", said Aurelie. "Of course, our members will go with you as well."

As Aurelie and his group walked away, Shelley quickly tugged on SJ's arm, to get her attention. "SJ", she whispered. "About what I said-"

SJ shook her head. "-Don't worry. I won't tell anyone. I promise."

Shelley nodded, and the sudden change to her demeanour indicated she was relaxed.

Luna looked around at the remaining group. "We're f*cked, aren't we?"

"No!", exclaimed Lyndi. "We'll be fine."

Just then, Holly rushed back and tackled Lyndi into a hug. "Stay safe! Don't die. I need my best friend."

Lyndi chuckled and gently rubbed her back in an attempt to soothe her friend. "Hey, don't worry about me. I'm trusting you to keep Duke in line", she joked.

Holly giggled. "Don't know if I'll manage that."

"Come on, Holly", said Duke, though his eyes were on Lyndi. Duke paused as Holly walked closer to him. His eyes never left Lyndi. "Uh, stay safe, yeah?"

Lyndi nodded, a small smile appearing on her face. "You too."

Duke smiled back. It lasted for a split second. He nodded his head at her before walking away with Holly.

Luna glanced at everyone again. "Yeah. We're royally f*cked."

Hi!

Not everyone's characters are in this chapter, but I've split them into smaller groups so it'll be easier to include them all now.

I know it's pretty boring right now but I've got a lot of things planned!

What are your thoughts on this chapter?

And do you have any feedback/advice for me about anything?
