𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝘃. ── what makes us girls.

season one, episode two
( i'll take you there )

The band had shown up to Rod Reyes's place in new clothes after sleeping in the van all night. Audrey was still half asleep but she was holding onto Eddie to keep her standing and walking.

Audrey noticed a girl in a colorful flower print dress walking out of Rod's apartment. "Someone clearly knows how to get some girls," Audrey muttered to herself as Billy and Camila looked for Rod's name on the buzzer.

Camila had found it and pressed the buzzer. Rod had come out smoking a cigarette in his underwear and robe. He let out a puff of his cigarette before realizing who was standing behind the door.

"Rod, hey," Billy spoke out. Rod had a sunglasses sunburn on his face as he had a questionable look. "Uh, it's, uh, Billy Dunne and the, uh... The Dunne Brothers." Billy had pointed to the group as they all waved to him.

Billy had looked back to Rod who nodded slowly. "We met at The Staircase in Pittsburgh, you know?" He asked as Eddie lit a cigarette. "You said I could call."

Rod narrowed his eyes, "Well you didn't... call." Rod had finally spoken, he let out a exhale. "You're just...here." He motioned his hand. Eddie and Audrey exchanged looks.

"Could we have... uh, ten minutes of your time?" Billy asked as Rod sighed furrowing his brows and pushing the door open wider. The band all had looked to each other. This either was going to go well or go bad.

The next thing they knew they were seated with Rod by the pool. In the first five minutes of their time, Billy was demanding a request to Rod. "Obviously, we, uh... need gigs." Billy had advised. "Yeah, on the Strip," Eddie added to Billy's words. Warren had mentioned where they wanted to play,

"Yeah, and- and- and a place to stay." Camila coaxed as she hung onto Billy's arms. "Preferably one with separate rooms. The van was not doing us good." Audrey conveyed. Sleeping in the van was the worst with them. They would snore, kick, sleep-talk basically everything Audrey could imagine.

"Yeah, I mean, we pooled our savings together, but it's not much." Billy had begun as Rod lit a cigarette. "We're probably gonna need some more money." Warren wished. "The money Dina's Dad gave us, was mostly wasted on gas... and stuff." Announced Eddie.

Graham had agreed, "And, uh, Teddy Price to produce us." Billy explained. Camila had chuckled. "That would be huge." Camila replied, "It's really important to us."

"Sure. Yeah, man." Rod had spoken sarcastically. "Wait really? You could do all those things for us?" Audrey had enquired fixing her bangs.

Rod soon turned to the girl, "Are you a bunch of fucking idiots?" Rod cursed to them he had managed them to all stay silent. "Do you really think how this works?"

"It worked for the Ronettes," Eddie replied. Rod ignored his words before looking at Billy. "You show up in town and someone hands you to a key to the city?" Rod asked as Audrey sighed. "A sit-down with Teddy Price?"

Audrey and the rest of the group had now been looking to the floor. "You said..." Billy furrowed his eyebrows. "You know when we were back in Pittsburgh, you said..."

"I know what I said." Rod snapped back at him. "I'm a tour manager, not a band manager." He exchanged looks with everyone. "So, unless you guys are planning a world tour in the near future, I don't think I'm your guy, man."

Billy shook his head. "We're not asking for handouts. We'll work our asses off, man." Rod had put out his cigarette on the ashtray. "Listen to me." Rod had interrupted Billy. "You all seem like nice people, and... if you're the band I'm thinking of... your set was kind of tight."

Those six words had made them smile. Eddie had chuckled with Warren. Graham placed an arm around Audrey hugging her close. "So what I'm gonna do is, I'll make a call, one call to my guy over at Filthy's."

Eddie's eyes have gone wide. "Filthy's? Is-is that a club?" Eddie blurted out. "I sure hope so." Audrey scratched her neck, wondering the same thing as Eddie.

"It's more of a... bar than a rock club, but it's on the Strip." Rod had replied to the two of them. "Rod, look, that's-that's amazing."The whole group thanked Rod.

"That's all I can do for you guys," Rod explained. "It's really a great start. Thank you, Rod." Audrey replied for the band. "Now, if there's nothing else..." Rod had trailed off as Billy stood up.

The band had started to leave but Graham had walked back to Rod. "Do you think we could get Karen Sirko in our band?" Graham had asked Rod. Rod stood silent. "Use the phone, man. Go for it."

Graham had thanked him as he rushed back over to the band cheering. "Do you even have her number?" Audrey had asked as Graham sighed, "There's always the phone book." Camila smiled as Graham nodded happily.

Camila had found Karen Sirko's number and immediately handed the phone book to Graham. He placed his finger on Karen's name before picking up the phone and dialing the number.

He was instantly shocked by how fast Karen had picked up. He started talking to her about the band before Billy had taken the phone from Graham.

"I didn't ask her!" Graham replied childishly. Audrey let out a chuckle. "Let Billy work his magic, Graham," Audrey replied with her arms folded.

Billy had talked to Karen for a while. "The Dunne Brothers would love to have you join our band." Billy had blurted out.

"No. We're in L.A." Billy replied. Audrey knew what Karen had said. She thought that the band was still in Pittsburgh.

Billy had told her about renting a house. Graham had told her about the house street as Billy told him to shut up.

Billy had soon handed the phone to Audrey, "She wants to talk to you." Billy had whispered as Audrey raised a brow.

Audrey slowly took the phone and stepped up the phone booth. "Hey... Karen." Audrey smiled.

"Be honest, Dina. They worth it?" Karen had questioned, her British accent was elegant and made Audrey nod.

AUDREY: I don't know how she found out about that nickname.

KAREN: I thought no one called her it. So I just used it from then on.

Audrey chuckled, "I wouldn't have left my Dad's home if they weren't. Matter of fact, I would've left the band." Audrey explained as Eddie gently slapped her shoulder.

She playfully rolled her eyes to Eddie.

KAREN: I've been in bands since I was 15. Always looking for the one that would go to the distance.

Let's just say that the Winters... weren't that. [pause] And like my mother always told me, don't put down roots in bad earth.

"Hey, I'll even pick you up at the bus station and everything. Give... give you a tour of the house." Audrey explained as she could feel Karen nod through the phone.

"Lovely... I'll see you soon. Call you when I get there." Karen replied as she hung up the phone.

Audrey slowly turned to the band before she quickly smiled. "Looks like we have a Keyboardist in the band."

The band cheered as they all hugged each other. "I think this calls for a joint sesh!" Warren cheered as he pulled out a joint from his pants pocket.

AUDREY: Living with the band wasn't bad. Warren and Graham had to share a room, and Eddie has his own.

Camila and Billy had their own. And I had a room to myself where Eddie would occasionally spend nights in there with me smoking some pot.

EDDIE: Did she say occasionally? Yeah... sure you can call it that. We mostly spent all our nights in that room with each other. I loved smoking pot with her and just laughing at random ass shit.

WARREN: No one would go into that room while the two were in there. Sounded like they were fucking all the time. They took all my marijuana!

AUDREY: That... that wasn't true. We left him some...

Audrey had walked out her bedroom door and saw the three boys all playing with utensils in the living room.

"I'm not even gonna ask." Audrey blurted out as Eddie chuckled before they all went back to pretend sword fighting.

"Where are you going?" Graham had asked. "Somewhere," Audrey replied as she walked out of the door. Audrey had recently received a few thousand dollars from her dad to buy herself a car.

She had bought an old Volkswagen Beetle in black. She started the car as she could still hear the three boys having fun.

She laughed before she backed out and drove to the bus station.

Outside of the bus station, she could see Karen waiting outside of bus station waiting on a bench.

Audrey had honked the horn to her car and Karen looked to see the brunette-haired girl waving to her.

"Hi, Karen!" Audrey smiled as Karen entered the car. "Hey, Dina." Karen had replied back.

Audrey had taken Karen's bags and placed them in the back of her car. The two would talk about things they never would share.

"Oh? What songs have you written so far?" Karen had asked tilting her head. Audrey scoffed as she kept her eyes on the road. "Only one. It's about a guy I think I've been crushing on for years."

"Eddie, was his name?" Karen professed. Audrey's eyebrows had gone up. Audrey chuckled. "No! I don't know why you would say that."

"Honey, relax. You're secrets safe with me." Karen vowed. She nodded as they turned into the driveway of the house.

"Home sweet home." She had gotten out of the car slamming the door shut. "It's lovely," Karen replied putting her hands behind her head.

KAREN: Her first impression was great. I loved the house but, she didn't even mention I was staying in a room with her.

With the boys... not so great. I mean Eddie was in a dress. Graham was in his tighty whiteys.

And Warren for god sake was in a pirate costume. I'm glad Audrey was with me at the time so we could both laugh at them later on.

"Sorry about them, they tend to get like this when no one else was around," Audrey whispered to Karen as Graham covered his private area with his hand.

Warren had cleared his throat as Eddie was holding a bottle of whiskey in his hand. "Hey, Dina!" Eddie had muttered as you could tell they were all high.

WARREN: Our first impressions to Karen... wasn't great. But we were all having fun.

GRAHAM: I forgot that she was moving in that day. And I was pretty embarrassed the rest of the day.

EDDIE: I don't remember that happening. [grins]

Karen had glanced at Audrey who had a finger pressed to her lips. Karen took a quick nod before walking away.

Graham had rushed over to Audrey. "You could've told me Karen was moving in today!" Audrey squared her shoulders.

She sent Graham a smile with her teeth, closing her eyes as she walked away to finish giving Karen a tour.

They finally arrived to Audrey's room where Karen placed her bags in Audrey's bed. "So basically, this is our room. I would offer myself to share a room with Eddie, but he needs the privacy." Audrey went on.

Karen shook her head, "I don't mind sharing a room with you unless you want to share one with Eddie." Karen teased as Audrey scoffed.

Camila had come into the room leaning on the wall. "No one would take this room besides Audrey. Most of the boys wouldn't touch it."

Karen's nose crinkled, "Is it haunted?" Camila sucked her teeth. "Yeah, by, uh—" She looked to Audrey.

"The horrendous, terrible taste." Audrey raised her chin. Karen clapped her hands together. "Well, I mean Audrey and I could buy separate beds and make the room look better," Karen explained.

KAREN: We had a gig on the Strip... so that was something other than the garbage taste in the room.

Audrey rocked back and forth. "Sounds like a plan."

KAREN: The room wasn't that homey, but Audrey and I made it better. We separated our rooms but occasionally slept in the same bed. We also stole Warren's last stash of pot.

AUDREY: Yeah... we had some pretty fun days in that room. We also messed with the boys about the room being haunted.
