Chapter Seven

Davey decided to go to his house and prepare for his ride to Brooklynn. By now it was 4 pm. His parents were at work and Les is staying over at the boardinghouse. Davey went into his fathers drawer to pack his brass knuckles, a gun, and bullets that he shoved into his newspaper bag. He then packed about a dollar worth of coins and headed outside.
Davey knew where Spot's Newsies were in Brooklyn so he decided to talk to them first. Spot knew that Jack was missing. Davey could only hope that the Brooklyn Newsies would help him find Jack.
Finally he arrived at the place that smells of labor and saltwater, Brooklyn. Davey walked up to the harbor where Spot's boys claimed as their territory and Spot greeted him, "Hey Davey, hows Race and Crutchie?"
    "And Kathrine." Davey replied
"They got her too huh?" Spot said seriously.
"Yeah. Hey Jack left this." Davey said as he handed Spot the note. As Spot read the note, a look of anger spread on his face. "Dammit. I knew it." Spot said as he handed Davey back the note. "He's at the abandoned factory where we used to live. Snyder's jail time must have gotten cut short."
"Thanks Spot." Davey said as he began to walk away.
"Hey Davey. We'll come with. We owe Jack one." Spot shouted causing Davey to turn around.
"Let's go." Davey replied with a smirk
The Brooklyn boys showed Davey where the building was and how to enter through the roof. Davey went down first Spot said something to the other boys before dropping down. "Ready?" Spot asked "Ready." Davey responded. Spot pointed to a staircase that led down to the multiple floors. "We have to go down about six stories." With out speaking, Davey and Spot began to run down the stairs.
Finally, they reached the basement without running into any of Snyder's men. There was a lock on the door, so Davey took out his loaded gun and shot it off. He swung open the door, walked down to stairs, and saw Jack shirtless and chained to the wall by his wrists. He was unconscious. "Oh thank God." Davey said as he ran towards his best friend. "Jack. Jack! Wake up!"
    "Davey?" Jack mumbled
"Yeah it me. I'll get you put I promise." Davey replied.  He stood up and shot the chains off of the wall. Spot and Davey helped Jack to his feet and out of the building. A wave of relief washed over the Brooklyn Newsies as they all saw Jack sort of walking.
Davey walked up to a man who owned a horse and cart he asked him if he could give them a ride back to Manhattan for a dollar. The man agreed and Spot helped Jack onto the cart while Davey followed. "Thanks Spot." Davey smiled. "No problem Davey." Spot replied with a smirk. Then the cart drove away.
