*unprofessional and crappy flashback*

I nodded, excited that someone related to my nerdy interests. "Yeah."

"What stuff do you read?"

"Uh, Harry Potter, Star Wars--"

"OH. You read that kind of fanfiction."

*END OF FLASHBACK*

Two things:

1) Dream sequences and flashbacks are so, so unprofessional and cheesy. Don't do them, unless you can pull it off so flawlessly I go to the bookstore and look for your name. These can take away so much from an otherwise decent story (especially if you do the *FLASHBACK*/*END FLASHBACK* thing.

2) "That kind of fanfiction" is nerd fanfiction, apparently. That was the day I learned about celebrity fanfics. Which are a thing, apparently.

When I was more young and naive than I am now, two years ago, I knew that these types of fanfictions existed, but not that they're so popular.

So this conversation opened my eyes to a whole new type of weird.

I'll admit, in the past, I have read a number of celebrity fanfics. But it is a small number and I have not dared to touch them in a long while. Why?

**biographies and Hamilton are exceptions because they are closely based off of facts

Yes, I write a boatload of fanfiction, but I write about fictional people. I hate to admit it, but fictional people don't exist. I can creep on Harry Potter and Han Solo (characters, not actors!) because they don't exist (this is hurting me to write, but I'll do it). It's not a violation of their privacy, because technically they don't have privacy, because they don't exist. I am allowed to think up their life because technically, they don't have one.

(I love them, and they're real to me okay?)

It is real people being written about. Those are real people. Words are being put in their mouth, their actions and personalities rewritten. Isn't that just a little weird?

Look, I am powerless to stop anyone from writing celebrity fics. But you have to admit... 

It isn't exactly normal.
