TRIGGER WARNING: physical and sexual abuse of a child

Mental and Emotional abuse:

They were never allowed to call him dad. If they did, it would make him angry, he would glare and point at them and say "it's only Joseph to you." To the public he would be called "papa Joe" but never allowed his own children to call him dad.

He would constantly swear, scream, belittle and make fun of all of the kids but, Michael especially. He would always tell him how ugly he was, that he had a big nose, and that his skin was too dark to be his son. He would never give affection, he wouldn't touch them unless it was harmful, accidental, or in public. Michael has only one memory of his dad holding him that he held dear to his heart, when his father picked him up to put him on a merry go round, he was about 3.

At night if the window was left open Joseph would climb in with a mask and a knife and cause a huge scene acting like he was going to kill them, which scarred Michael to the point where he kept his windows shut even in adulthood.

He only ever called Michael for money, he once asked him for over one million dollars on fathers day.

The Physical abuse:

Michael always fought back, and sassed back. When he was about nine years old he messed up a note (if I remember correctly) and Joseph punched him down to the floor so hard that one of Michaels ribs broke.

In Gary Indiana when they weren't rehearsing on Josephs days off, he would throw Michael down into the basement for hours without any food or water. His siblings were too scared of Joseph to do anything about it.

He would make the kids do hard labor. He had a stack of cement blocks on one side of the yard and constantly make the children move and restack them to the other side to "keep them off the streets"

He would trip Michael for no reason so Michael would fall on the floor to his face. It got to the point where Michael would look both ways before crossing a hallway or into a room, like crossing a street.

He would whip them with belts, iorning cords, tree branches, coat hangers and anything else that was in reach. He put oil on their bodies so it would be more painful. Once they made it to the public eye he would fill wet socks with sand so it wouldn't leave bruises. He would beat them for doing something as simple as forgetting to bring in a towel by the pool.

One day Michael was late for rehearsal, Joseph had picked him up by his shirt and thrown him into a set of drums. Somebody recalls Joseph picking Michael up by his leg and using his other hand to beat Michael so aggressively that his mother screamed at his father in horror to stop before he killed him.

As a child, the only thing Michael could control was food, everything was extremely controlled by motown and his father, and he felt like his eating was the only thing he had control of. Joseph saw this and started to comment on Michaels weight (regardless of how skinny he truly was) and eventually started making Michael throw up everything besides his three meals a day. Michael became anorexic because of this.

The sexual abuse:

As a very young child Michael was performing at strip clubs for gigs before the Jackson 5 got their big break, he hated going against his religion even at a young age and knew it wasn't "gentleman like" to stare at naked women but Joseph made him no matter how uncomfortable he was. At nightclubs he was forced to crawl under tables and look up womens skirts.

Michael always got a room with Jermaine, and Jermaine always had sex with girls and made Michael (Marlon as well) pretend to sleep. Michael had to listen to his older brother have sex on a nightly basis and watch him hurt girls that were virgins to the point where he would catch girls backstage and warn them not to go with his brothers.

Josephs room was attatched to Michaels in hotels, and he could hear his father having sex with other women. When he threatened to tell his mother, Joseph pinned Michael up against the wall by his throat until he nearly passed out, nearly broke his arm and told Michael that if he ever told his mother his father was cheating on him, he'd kill him.

A prisoner admitted to raping Michael on some occassions when they first moved to California. Joe would tell Michael they were going on a "business meeting" with just the two of them, the guy would pay Joe and then rape Michael. Michael was 10 years old getting prostituted by his father "so we can buy a house" Jermaine knew something was wrong, he recalled Michael refusing to sit, coming back to the hotel shaking, pale, and in shock with uncontrolable sobs, and that he would throw up for days after. Jermaine said he would often hold a crying Michael in his arms at night until he fell asleep. This went on until Michael was almost 14.

It's alleged (rumoured) that before shows where Joe wanted the boys emotional or angry onstage, he would  have all 5 boys drop their pants while adults jerked them off or the older ones jerked themselves off in front of people.

When Michael turned 15, Rebbie recalls Joseph saying that Michael needed to become "a man" Michael was locked in a room with two young prostitutes and she said whatever happened in there scarred him for life. When it happened a second time, Michael read the girls verses from the bible and they left crying.

Diana Ross knew that Michael was in love with her and used to straight up promise him that at 18 she would take his virginity, and that one day they would get married. When the time came, she married somebody else under Michaels feet, he wrote a song about it (i THINK blue gangsta) and they didn't talk for several years. It's believed by people who knew them both that she seduced him before he was of age, and she supposedly bragged to one of her friends how good he was in bed but, others say they don't think Michael lost his virginity until his late 20's - early 30's.
