Prologue

Third POV
"Pyrrha!!" Ruby shouted as her silver eyes glowed striking the Grimm dragon and the current fall maiden Cinder Fall.

"What?!" Cinder shouted in shock as the light engulfed her, hurting more then anything she could ever imagine.

Jenni's POV
"Where is she?! Where is she?!" I thought to myself frantically.

I was currently running through the abandoned courtyard of Beacon Academy trying to find my friend Cinder. Just a few short hours ago I was sitting in the Amity Coliseum watching the Vytal Tournament when all hell broke loose. I had watched as my friend Penny Pollendina had been torn to shreds by Beacon's star pupil Pyrrha Nikos. What followed after that was Grimm attacks followed by attacks from the White Fang and what made it all the more horrible was a speech made about Penny's death made by none other then Cinder. In it Cinder told about how Penny's death wasn't accidental and how the world was about to go to war and how the headmasters were horrible people. It didn't make any sense to me though. The Cinder I knew would never say something like that. The Cinder I knew wouldn't sound so....evil. I had to find out what was going on.

As I was running I felt another stab of pain in my lower left leg causing me to wince. I had taken a hit from a paladin's gun earlier but I hadn't had time to assess the damage. All I knew was that my leg hurt like crazy. It felt sticky so I knew there was blood but I didn't know how much. I was just hoping it wasn't serious.

Above me on Beacon Tower I suddenly saw a burst of white light followed by a loud scream. I was the only one here currently as everyone else was at the docks so I decided to check it out. I pulled out my grappling hook from my belt and used it to propel myself up the ruined tower. At the top I noticed a bird feather but decided to ignore it. There was also the giant Grimm dragon I had seen earlier but it appeared to be frozen but it's eyes were still following me. I looked around some more when my eyes locked on something else. It was Cinder lying in a pool of her own blood.

"Cinder!" I yelled running to her.

I gently turned her over and assessed her injuries. Cinder seemed to be ok aside from a few cuts and bruises but the majority of her long hair was burned off leaving her with an uneven cut and blood was covering the left side of her face. I moved her hair back and I could suddenly see why she was bleeding so much. I tried not to gag and I gently held her in my arms. I knew she needed help but I didn't know how to get it to her.

"What the heck happened?! Was it that bright light that did this?" I questioned allowed.

I heard a strange sound and saw a purple colored portal open up behind me and a man stepped through. This man was wiry and had a thick mustache. He was graying a bit at his temples and was wearing a black suit with red and yellow accents.

I held Cinder tightly in my arms as this man walked around her.

"Pity. She couldn't even win against a child," he muttered.

"Where did you come from?!" I asked him.

"It doesn't matter. The important thing is getting her home. Her mistress wants to....congratulate her....on a job well done."

"Her....What? Sir I do not know who you are but my friend requires medical attention." I said.

The man looked at me, "you want to help her?"

I nodded, "She's my best friend."

The man rolled his eyes, "fine. But I can't be held responsible for what happens to you."

I swallowed, something about the way he said that unnerved me. But regardless I carried Cinder in my arms and me and the strange man entered the portal.

Almost immediately I felt like I had entered a parallel world. The place was made of purple crystals and adorned with black candles.

As soon as the portal closed a woman walked out and I felt my breath catch in my throat. She was wearing a long black dress which seemed normal enough but what was not normal was her face. She appeared to be some humanoid Grimm.

"Your grace this young lady wants to join our cause," the man said.

The woman gave me a look that made my blood run cold. "Excellent."

What the heck had I just unwillingly signed up for?

Hello everyone it's Jenni! So I've had this idea for a while and I decided to go ahead and post it. This story is kind of an AU to my story "A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing." Kind of like a what if kind of story. So in this story Jenni had left the White Fang when Blake did instead of later like in my original story. This story takes place around volumes 4 and 5 but will drastically branch off after that. I don't know how often I'll update but I would love to know what you thought of this prologue.
