Formula 1 Danil Kvyat 2016-2018
Some race car drivers recieve a lot of criticism for hardly anything they have done and one of those drivers is F1 Russian driver Danil Kvyat🇷🇺. Danil made his F1 debut for Scuderia Toro Rosso in 2014 and scored 9 points for the team in that year. 2015 he'd take over 4 time world champion Sebastian Vettel's🇩🇪 seat for Red Bull. 2015 wouldn't be so good for the Austrian team as they would finish 4th in the constructors championship with Kvyat's and Daniel Ricciardo's🇦🇺 2nd and 3rd at Hungary🇭🇺 and Riccardo's 2nd in Singapore🇸🇬 the only bright spots for them. Kvyat would outscore Riccardo in the championship in 2015, the Russian scored 97 points to Riccardo's 92 points. So he does have the skill to get it done with what he has. 2016 would start off with a little controversy at the Chinese🇨🇳 grand prix when the Russian collided with Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen. Vettel would recover to finish 2nd while Danil Kvyat finished 3rd Raikkonen would only finish 5th and in the cooldown/drivers room for the top 3 before the podium Vettel and Kvyat had a small chat.
So aggre to disagree I suppose they both recovered to finish on the podium and Raikkonen got a pretty good points haul so the next race at Russia🇷🇺 Kvyat's home grand prix shows a lot of promise. There is even a grandstand made in Danil's honor in turn 3. So this is very humbling for Kvyat so he hopes to do a lot to get a great result for his home fans from P8.
And the Russian would get a stop go penalty and go on to finish in P15. It was a disappointing run in front of his home fans and for the second time is involved in a incident with Sebastian Vettel. And the drama doesn't end there, 4 days later Danil Kvyat LOSES HIS SEAT AT RED BULL! DANY KVYAT LOST HIS RIDE AT RED BULL AND GETS DEMOTED TO SCUDERIA TORO ROSSO! This is shocking! His seat gets taken by Max Verstappen🇳🇱 and everyone is wondering where the heck this idea came from! Many instantly thought it was Vettel who caused this in his conversation with Christian Horner, the boss at Red Bull. But the 4 time champion says he had nothing to do with the decision. Vettel says he was just upset with the mistake that Kvyat made and wanted an apology. Horner did apologize for the incident and later Sunday night Danil called him to apologize as well. Sebastian also says that Kvyat has a bright future still in Formula 1 and doesn't have a bone to pick with the Russian. Plus Red Bull also say the swap was decided earlier on before the Russian grand prix even happened. So holy cow, Dany Kvyat has a lot to prove now being in Toro Rosso now and he says that the decision was a bit of a shock but he is going to be fighting with something to prove on the track. At the next race in Spain🇪🇸 Kvyat put a point on the board while Max Verstappen went on to WIN the race. And THAT was practically a slap to the face for Dany, Verstappen wins in his first try while Kvyat has yet to win meaning until further notice if it wasn't set in stone after Russia it is now a fact that he will stay at Toro Rosso. And the rest of 2016 was just misserable for him. It seemed like nothing was going his way at all except being able to score a point Britian🇬🇧, and 2 points at Singapore🇸🇬. It was a disappointing end to a season that could've would've should've been a promising one for Dany Kvyat. So 2017 was hoping for a year of redemption to shownthat he deserves a top tier car and he bega n well with getting 2 points to his name at Australia🇦🇺. But in China🇨🇳 he'd be forced to retire with a gearbox problem. 3 races later he finished 9th once again at Spain, but the downfall returned with 3 consecutive retirements at Monaco🇮🇩 for a crash with 7 laps to go, a vibration at Canada🇨🇦 with 16 to go and electrical problems at Azerbaijan🇦🇿 in the 9th lap. And at the 9th race lap 1 turn 1 causes a wreck involving Fernando Alonso🇪🇸 and Max Verstappen ending their days while Kvyat finished 3 laps down in the race and now haters keep calling him the "torpedo" and his year got even worse, he hasn't scored any points since Spain and after crashing out at Singapore Toro Rosso sit him out for 2 races. At this point Kvyat has scored 4 points and guess how many his teammate Carlos Sainz🇪🇸 scored.....48. So after Singapore he'd be replaced by Pierre Gasly🇫🇷 for 2 races at Malaysia🇲🇾 and Japan🇯🇵. But after Japan Kvyat does get to race in the United States grand prix🇺🇸 alongside not Carlos Sainz because the Spainard moved to Renault to replace sacked/fired Jolyon Palmer🇬🇧 so in Sainz's absence will be Brendon Hartley🇳🇿. Kvyat would finish 10th in the race but would lose his seat next year to Pierre Gasly. How tables have turned after 2015. He outscored Daniel Ricciardo then in 2016 he gets demoted to Toro Rosso and now in the end of 2017 is out of a Formula One seat all together! He'd spend 2018 he'd be a development driver at Ferrari and with the skill of Sebastian Vettel and with Charles Leclerc🇮🇩 joining Ferrari in 2019 it seemed like all the seats were taken.....until in September when it was announced that Danil Kvyat would RETURN for Toro Rosso for the 2019 season. What a rollercoaster ride from Red Bull, demotion, unemployed, and now back as a Formula 1 driver for a chance of redemption. And so far at the time of writing this he has a 10th place finish to his name at Australia, and consistently is running just off or inside the points, even though he was spun by Antonio Giovinazzi🇮🇹 at Bahrain to finish 12th, had a bad race at China🇨🇳 after getting loose and colliding with the McLaren drivers of Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris🇬🇧 on the first lap which got the Russian a penalty which many people thought was too harsh and qualified 6th in Azerbaijan🇦🇿 and was running well until he was forced to retire after racing with Daniel Ricciardo who locked up into turn 3 sending both drivers wide and when the Australian reversed trying to get back on the track he ran into Kvyat ending both of their days. But still it seems different. Toro Rosso even said that Danil seemed different, that he seems confident again like he was in 2014 and not so down and depressed in 2016-2017. "He has maturity to go with his speed now." Said Martin Brundle at the Australian grand prix but nonetheless after the rollercoaster of emotions that Dany Kvyat went through it makes many ask "What if he and Vettel never collided at China or Russia?" What if he was never demoted in the first place?" While many hope he redeems himself and prove to others that they were wrong about him still you have to ask what might have been for Danil Kvyat?
