Chapter Thirtynine
Katherine walked through the streets, her stomach growling.
Seeing a restaurant, she ran across, opening the door. She mentally groaned at the noise or made. It was one of those annoying doors with the bells that rang whenever the door opened or closed.
Immediately, she saw Dan and Sarah, sitting at a table to the left of the door.
"Oh, hey Katherine," Sarah said, waving a little, while her brother moved his nose from side to side, a plastic straw in each nostril.
Katherine's stomach growled loudly, and the older dragon shifter turned around to look at her. "Oh, u-um... I ate all the food here," he said quietly.
As Katherine let out an ear shattering yell of rage, and slammed the door in anger as she ran back out onto the street, Dan sneezed in surprise, the straws flying out of his nostrils.
That's the main restaurant, so where the heck am I supposed to get food?!?!, she mentally yelled. Then, her nose began to twitch, as a surprisingly pleasant smell filled the air. Thank the gods, decent food! I don't even care if someone else is eating it, I'll just get the crumbs!
For what seemed like an eternity, she ran through the streets once again, sniffing through the air. It's definitely some kind of meat. Stake maybe?
She finally stopped at a brick house, the blinds pulled over the windows. Without knocking, she swung open the door, and ducked when a metal object nearly smashed right in her face. Leaping up, she grabbed what turned out to be a frying pan, swinging out forcefully. She grinned when there was a loud bang, and a second later, a satisfying crash as the attacker fell onto the ground.
She burst out laughing when she found out it was John, he was sitting on the ground, rubbing a now red nose. "Told you I was going to beat you when I found out you weren't the good guy you said you were," she said triumphantly.
"Uh, was that really necessary though... My nose hurts now...", He said, standing up, his voice muffled with his hands over his nose and mouth.
"Oh boo hoo hoo, just let me see how bad it is drama queen," she said, as he moved his hands. "... Huh," she mumbled, inspecting his nose.
"Wha-?", the demon-Angel was about to ask what it was, when she punched him square in the face, causing him to back up into the wall behind him, after there was a loud cracking noise.
"I broke your nose when I hit you with that frying pan," she said absent mindedly, kneeling down to point though the cupboards in what seemed to be John's kitchen. "I just readjusted your nose again, since it would look really weird if I didn't, not to mention that it would hurt a lot later on, and it gives me an excuse to punch you," she finished, shoving a container of parmesan cheese, and a plastic bag full of chocolate chip cookies into her pockets, standing back up, even though she left the cupboards wide open.
"Oh my... C-can you please warn me... The next time... You're going to punch me?", he asked, making a sniffing noise.
Katherine snorted, shoving her mouth full of cookies. "Are you crying?"
"... No," he said, grinding his teeth. "You just... Hurt... My shnoz...", He said.
She shrugged. "Okay. Hey, were you cooking some kind of meat related food just now?", she asked.
"... Hamburgers... On the stove," he hissed, walking over to his couch. A second later, Katherine heard the sound of the demon-angel shoving his face into a pillow, and then screaming.
After a while, Katherine found the hamburger buns, and made three burgers leaving three more still on the stove. Sinking her teeth into the meat, her eyes widened at the flavor. She would never say it out loud, but it tasted good. "...... John... How did you cook these?", she asked, her voice muffled from hamburgers. After a few seconds, the demon-angel walked into the kitchen. He wasn't holding his nose anymore, even though it was an aggressive red that made Katherine snicker. He wore an irritated, almost half asleep look on his face, as he made his own hamburger and sat down. "... Demon fire. Why?" Katherine thought about spitting out the hamburger at hearing that, but then just shrugged and ate more. Eh, I've had more dangerous stuff for dinner, I'm sure I'll live. "Are you sure that's healthy for a human?", she asked, glancing back at him. He nodded his head, starting to eat. "I would hope so, after all this is done, if I don't become an author, psychologist, or some kind of artist, I'd like to cook." He then gave her a blank expression. "And besides, you wouldn't have to worry about my cooking being dangerous if you hadn't ran into my kitchen and stolen my food, after you punched me." Katherine began to get up and walk over to him. "If you want, I could punch you a third time," she suggested. John immediately put up his arms defensively, and she chuckled, sitting back down. "That's what I thought."
