🍓 Chapter 30 - Peacemaker 🍓
Peacemaker let out the beginnings of a snarl, growling. But, not in fear, in play.
He leaped for Cliff, pinning him down with one hand on his wing to keep him steady.
"Told ya I could catch you." Peacemaker snorted playfully, albeit a little ego-driven.
Tsunami walked up, nodding thoughtfully.
"Good job, Peacemaker. That was good." She nodded at him, then back at Cliff. The SkyWing was scoffing at Peacemaker, a little embarrassed he had been caught and pinned so easily in a battle training class.
"Okay, Cliff, your turn. Peacemaker, go wait over there." Tsunami pointed a claw at the other side of the cave. Dragonets were everywhere, tackling and swiping at each other playfully.
Peacemaker's tail whipped back and forth as he let go of Cliff, scampering to the other side of the room.
Cliff stood, shaking out his wings. He was looking at Peacemaker with squinted eyes, as if thinking of an attack plan.
Peacemaker stood quietly, awaiting the tackle. His talons were spread out on the ground, in an attempt to keep himself grounded. If Cliff failed, he would more just hit into him then pin him down.
Cliff ran, barreling into Peacemaker at top speed. Peacemaker felt the wind get knocked out of him as Cliff grabbed for his wings, holding them down as Peacemaker had done to him.
"Hah, not so cocky now, are ya?" Cliff laughed, staring down at Peacemaker pridefully.
Tsunami nodded eagerly. "Good job, Cliff! That was, almost as good as Peacemaker's!"
As Tsunami sauntered off to go check on the other dragonets, Cliff retreated and gave Peacemaker a change to get up.
Peacemaker shook out his wings at full length, his tail tip flicking around as he smiled at Cliff.
"Haha, she said I did better than you." Peacemaker teased.
Cliff's scales flared playfully as he rolled his eyes. "Don't even try me, I'm obviously better than you!"
Peacemaker and the other dragonets started to leave the classroom cave, his tail flicking happily behind him. "Sure you are, Cliff. Sure you are."
🍓🍓🍓
Peacemaker and Cliff were curled up in their cave, with the others of the Jade Winglet all around the main room.
Peacemaker rested nicely on his leafy nest, with Cliff right beside him. Their wings were wrapped over each other in a sort of half-hug.
Bumblebee seemed a lot better than yesterday, when she had been shutting out her friends. She was still quieter than before, but she was warming up to her friends again like before. Now, she was across the cave in a loose circle on the ground, with Dusky and Auklet as they talked.
Cliff looked up, lifting his head to look at Peacemaker. "Hey, where did you get that scroll?"
Peacemaker tilted his head, looking at the SkyWing. "...what scroll?"
Cliff nodded a wing at a scroll, half-open on the ground. Peacemaker suddenly remembered that he had been reading a scroll from the library about that ancient NightWing...what was his name...?
Darkstalker.
"Ah, nothing." He waved off Cliff's concern slightly quickly, his tail intertwining with the other dragonet's.
"You sure? Let me read it-"
Peacemaker sort of shrugged, not really seeing any issue with Cliff looking at the scroll. So, he watched the SkyWing grab the scroll and unfurl it to read.
"Darkstalker... An ancient NightWing with animus powers...and the powers of the three moons. He was revived by Jade Mountain students, but was rumored to be defeated by Kinkajou of the RainWings in an unknown way." Cliff read off the scroll.
Peacemaker perked up at his words, wings flicking. "What? I know Kinkajou- how did she get rid of him?"
Cliff shrugged, still looking over the scroll. "Not sure. The author never specified."
Peacemaker went to reply, but he was interrupted by a sharp voice in the hallway outside.
"All dragonets to the main hall of the Jade Mountain! Immediately!"
