Today is my first day back at work, it felt good getting back to the old me and finding a way to be happy because I know my momma wouldn't appreciate me walking round depressed.

In 3 days I will be putting my mother to rest, it seems all to unreal, my brother and untie help plan the funeral, we didn't have to really pay for anything because her life insurance covered everything and she still has money left over after all this which will be split between me an my brother.

I shuffled through a bunch of folders on the desk looking for my first patients folder I got last night from one of y nurses so I could review her health history.

When I finally found the folder I threw it in my  work bag by the door seeing that I only had 20mins to be at the hospital to clock in, I was one of the youngest doctors in the hospital, so I had a point to prove pretty much and I didn't want to fuck it up on my first day back.

18mims later I was walking in to the hospital going upstairs to time stamp my card an go see my first patient of the day.

"Celeste can you brief me real quick on my first patient I was running late and didn't have time to over look her folder" I waved one of my nurses to my office.

yess a bitch got her own office!.

"Ohkay her name destiny she is pregnant at 34 an 7 days her blood pressure is 140/90 so she is chronic hypertension and right now as we speak her baby has no heart beat" the nurse said looking worried.

"What!!. You sure? Is she aware of that"

"No we don't have the authority to tell the patient until the doctor is here"

"Ohkay good tell her I will be in shortly with the ultrasound tech doctor"

"Ohkay Dr Blount"

I took 3 deep breaths and prepared my self for this long day, I put my white coat on that had my name and I put my work phone in the pocket then walking towards my patients room.

I knocked 3x before entering.

"Hii I'm Dr Blount how are you feeling?" I couldn't really see her face because she had the blanket over her head.

"Hello sweetheart we have to doo a ultra sound to make sure everything is Ohkay" I said walking over to the bed pulling out the gel.

She slid the blanket down and to my surprise it's destiny Moe's sister.

I wanted to jump on that bed and beat her fucking ass but I had to remain professional because now was not the time an besides it look like god did it for me.

"This is going to be a little cold" I gave her a fake smile as I squeeze the gel on her belly smoothing it with the probe from the machine.

"Am I going to finally meet my bundle of joy that has been sending me through all this pain" she said smiling through all the pain she was going through since she requested to do it natural.

"Is the baby moving actively?" I asked following protocol questions.

"Well the baby has been sleep so no I haven't felt any movement yet"

"Ohkay well I'm not detecting a heartbeat so can you drink some cold water to wake the baby up" I said handing her ice water that was on her dinner table hoping the baby will move.

"Ohkay sure" she said smiling gulping down the water.

"Ohkay lets give it a bout five minutes and we will check again". I said standing of to the side filling out my notes.

"Come on mommas pumpkin be a good baby an wake up" she said rubbing her belly no longer smiling.

When I looked at destiny I seen my self all over again and began to cry, one of the nurses looked at me and pulled me to the side,

"Are you ohkay we can see if a another doctor can come in and do this they should have never gave you this case knowing it was a touchy subject" she said rubbing my arm trying to comfort me.

"I'm fine it just brought back memories I just need a sec call me in 5mins I will be in my office" I said taking off my gloves throwing them in the trash.

I made it to my office and called moe seeing that I knew she was gone pick up and comfort me through this.

"Hey hey hey" she sang in the phone.

"Hey I'm at work right now going through it"

"You ohkay what happened? Do you want me to come and get you?" She said with worry in her voice.

"No I just wanted to vent if that's Ohkay"

"Yeah go for it"

"So yo sister is up here in labor but the baby doesn't have a heart beat so I'm the one that has to tell her... just seeing her with hope that her baby is alive reminded of myself when I heard the news broke me I can just imagine how she is going to feel seeing that you cut her off an she has nobody there for here"

"Well that's her fault for picking a bitch ass nigga over her family, I probably could've forgave her if she was straight up but she wasn't this is just got punishing her for her sin...my mama always told us "God don't like uglie".

"You right I see where you com-" my phone had started ringing before I could finish my sentence it was one of the nurses probably telling me she was ready.

"Ohkay girl I'll talk to you more when I get home" I said hanging up the phone.

I walked back in the room seeing destiny with a worried look on her face.

"Ohkay so once again it's a little cold"

"No problem it might help"

I rubbed the probe across her belly still not finding a heartbeat, I went around her belly 3x with a little bit of pressure and hope that I didn't have to break her heart.

"Destiny I'm sorry to inform you that you're baby doesn't have a heartbeat anymore"

"No no what did I doo what did you do?"

" you have to check again please!" She begged and screamed as tears rolled down her face.

" I can go get another doctor but destiny they will tell you the same heartbreaking news"

"I don't give a fuck Inoe my baby is not dead So go get another doctor".

Jut seeing her like that broke my heart I felt bad for the girl.
