One evening in Green Hills Tails was working in his little shed/workshop Tom had built for him in the garden.
He was working on a present for Sonic and Tails hoped he would like it.

Just then said Hedgehog zoomed into the workshop.
"Hey Tails, mom and dad told me to get you, dinner's ready." Sonic said.
"Thanks Sonic." Tails said putting aside his tools.
"Hey, What's that?" Sonic asked spotting the object on the desk.

"Oh that!, it's a little present I made for you." Tails said.
"Woah, thanks bud, what is it?" Sonic asked.
"Well, it's a wrist comm link, allowing you to call me from anywhere." Tails said.
"Don't we all have phones for that." Sonic said confused.

"Well yeah, but there are times and places phones can't work, These are designed to work anywhere on the planet, also they have a self charging battery so they don't even have to be plugged in." Tails said.
"Wow, that's absolutely genius bud, how about we test them after dinner." Sonic said.
"Sounds great." Tails said nodding eagerly.
"Right, now we'd better get dinner, before Knux eats it all." Sonic said.
Tails laughed and he and Sonic raced to dinner.

Maddie looked up as her two youngest boys ran in chatting excitedly.
"What's got you boys so excited?" She chuckled as she pulled a garlic bread out the oven and began slicing it into peices.
"Tails has a new invention he wants to show me after dinner." Sonic said as he and Tails sat down.

"What is it sunflower?" She asked setting two plates of pasta and garlic bread in front of Sonic and Tails.
"They're self charging wrist commlinks, so we can always stay in touch." Tails said.
"My little genius." Maddie smiled giving Tails a little scratch behind the ears making him giggle.

Both boys quickly ate dinner and ran back outside.
Tails put one of the commlinks on Sonic's wrist and the other on his.
"Ok Sonic, run to the other other side of town and I'll contact you." Tails instructed.
"Gotcha." Sonic said and instantly took off

Just seconds later Tails' comm beeped and Tails awnsered.
"Looks like your invention was a success little bro." Sonic said.
"So far yes, but let's do a little more testing." Tails said.
"You gotcha." Sonic nodded.

The two brothers spent the rest of the afternoon testing Tails' new inventions.
