I think I know why I love villains like Anthony, Berkut, Reinhardt, Ken etc. They're all unique in their own way. Heroes mainly follow a cookie cutter pattern, and don't really have much variation. Villains on the other hand are unique in their own right and aren't Saturday morning cartoon bad guys that we always see. Anthony probably had to do what he did for his own survival, Reinhardt had to make really hard decisions between the girl he loved and his own sister, Berkut was so pressured into trying to be the best he could be to be worthy enough to his uncle, and Ken... He's a whole chapter in himself. He knows he fucked up, and he has a problem that we can all relate to, the fact that we might be facing a preference in siblings and the high standards schools put on us. That's why he felt like the digital world was a game he could control and that the digidestined represented the reality he didn't want to go back and face.
