"Could you find a way to let me down slowly?
A little sympathy, I hope you can show me
If you wanna go then I'll be so lonely
If you're leaving baby let me down slowly"

(F/N)'s POV
I wake up and found myself back on my bed. As I lift my head up, I groan in pain.
A migraine... great.
I slowly get up and walk around the apartment, looking for Connor.
He is not here.
It felt like something hit my heart. Seeing that Connor wasn't here made me feel very uneasy. It felt... familiar. Something I forgot about back in my world.
Brushing these thoughts behind, I decided to be a bit more optimistic. Maybe he has to go back to Hank or take care of something... I hope.
As I was about to head out of the house, I knock over some files on the kitchen that was there when I first came into this world. When I pick it up, some papers fell through and I had to pick it up from the floor. As I was picking it up, I read it.
I stop. I look at the paper closely again.
Name: Katherine Li
DOB: 10/16/2015
Dear Katherine,
You have been assigned as a Lieutenant in the Detroit Police Department. Please come into work on 5/30/2038
This isn't right... Have I been taking someone's identity?
I sit in the kitchen chair with the papers in hand. It made sense that I would be taking someone's identity(since I technically don't exist in this world), but if that's true, then how did Connor know my name? If I remember correctly, Connor can scan people for information right? Would he be able to see that I came from the past? Did he know that I have been taking someone's identity?
All these thoughts run through my head. Then, the doorbell rings. I stand up and open up the door. In front of me is Connor, with a bright yellow LED light flashing at his temple.
"(F/N), are you alright? Why did you not come out? Did you oversleep? Did you get hurt? Here, let me scan you to see if you're hurt anywhere." Connor looks at me and looks at me up and down to see if he could pick up anything.
"Connor, I am... fine. Come on, let's go to work before Hank starts filing some paperwork about me being late." I say
Connor's POV
I lead (F/N) into the taxi car. When she gets in, she says nothing but looks out the window.
"(F/N), are you alright?" I ask. She still looks out the window, as if I didn't say anything. When I scan her, it said that her stress level is at 60%. I don't know what happened, but I need to know.
"(F/N)!" This time, she snaps out of her thoughts and stares at me.
"I'm sorry, I got distracted. Were you saying something?" She looks at me, but her gaze is distant and it was unusual.
"Did something happen?" I ask
"No, I'm just a little tired." I know she's lying. I can detect it.
"(F/N), I know when someone one or something is lying, I'm an interrogator." She didn't comment. She looks down at her legs and fuddle with her hands.
Since I was able to get her to say yes when I asked if I could be with her so I could protect her by getting close to her, I decided to get closer. However, it made her move the other way. Her action made something inside me break and I decided not to push her to say anything.
I'm an android and should not feel this way. I can't express these emotions or else...
My thoughts trail off when the car stops. I look up and see the department.
I quickly open the door at my end so that I can go to the other side of the car and open the door for (F/N), like the gentleman I was programmed to. However, before I get to the other side, she comes out the same way I came out and walks directly into the department.
I stand still watching her disappear into the building.
(F/n)'s POV
Once I get into the department, I turn around just to find Connor nowhere in sight.
Oh god, I completely forgot about Connor. How could I be so selfish and not remember?
I bolt straight back to the entrance to find Connor coming in with an unemotional face... like the first time I met him.
The pain in my chest starts to grow more and more.
What did I expect? Of course, he won't be smiling. He's still an Android and hasn't deviated. He only does that once he goes to Jericho. I can't tell him about my identity... not yet.
I get to "my" table and I get flashbacks to the paper I saw this morning. My brows furrow by the thought of it and I take a seat. Connor goes to Hank to get some paperwork to do. He hasn't said anything to me yet.
Was he... mad? It's impossible... he doesn't turn deviant until he gets...
The migraine comes back. It's worse than this morning and my vision starts to blur. I feel myself about to fall on the desk before someone catches me. I look up and see Connor.
Connor's POV
(F/N) has been acting weird. I think she is what humans call angry and I looked it up on what to do about it. It said to "give space" and "leave them alone". I didn't quite understand it, but I just carry on with my work and make sure I give her some space... at least 8 feet apart.
But I couldn't help but notice her swaying a little bit while she was at her desk. It almost seemed...LIKE SHE WAS ABOUT TO LOOSE CONSCIOUS!
I quickly act and catch (F/N) before her face hits the desk. She looks at me with a confused look.
I was supposed to give her space... now she is going to get even more angry with me.
"Are you okay?" was the first thing I blurted out. It was almost like I said it without even thinking.
"Yeah, I'm fine..." she replied. That was the same reply when I asked her earlier.
Things got silent while everyone at the precinct was looking at us. (F/N)'s face starts to turn red and look away. Hank was the one who broke the silence.
(F/N)'s POV
"Oh my god, are you okay?" Hank asked
"Hank... always with the fatherly ac–" I stop mid-sentence and think back to what I just said.
Why did I say that? It came out of my mouth without even thinking about it. It's almost as if I was supposed to say it..."
"Of course! I may be a drunken piece of shit, but I still care for you. You're like a daughter to me." Hank replies.
At this point, people have just ignored us and continued on with their work. From a far distance, I could hear a particular someone say "phuck" underneath their breath.
"Uh... I'm okay..." I trail off as I think about what I saw this morning.
I could feel Connor staring at me intensely. I think he knows something's wrong, but I must not tell him.
"Hey, if you need another day off I–" Connor say before he gets interrupted by the police officer.
"Hank, we need you at the Stratford Tower. There's a crime scene dealing with androids." The officer says.
"Ah shit, here we go again..." Hank replies.
Author's note:
It's been LOOOONG since I've posted and I would like to deeply apologize for that. This chapter specifically was hard to write because it pivots the story drastically and I want it to be done well. I also had a lot of technical difficulties with getting my account back and also having to re-write the chapter over and over again( since Wattpad sometimes didn't save properly...) I'm probably going to be offline here for another month or so since I need to start studying for my tests(*sighhhhh) and plan the next chapter. If you guys want to get updates, see what I'm doing, or DM me, follow my Instagram (katli100) for updates and I'll see you then!
