Sam's POV
It had been a cold, bleak day in December, with the sun beginning to rise above the horizon. All was silent, the frost poviding a pale blanket across the road and grass, making everything seem to glow with a ghostly light. The only thing that contrasted with these barren fields was the black car that sped past. In it was Sam, his jaw clenched with rage, but his eyes filled with sadness.
Sam, of course, had been arguing with his father about going to college, wanting to do more with his life than just do 'the family business'. It had ended with John telling him to be gone by morning if he was going to leave, and make sure to never come back. So, despite his brother's protests, and even pleading for Sam to stay, he packed his things and left at dawn, only stopping for gas since.
However, even the walls he built around his heart could not stop him from beginning to cry. He clutched at the steering wheel harder, the tears blurring his vision. He should have stopped driving, pulled off to the side and waited until he was in a good enough shape to drive again.
He really should have.
He wiped one eye at a time to clear his sight, only to try and slam on the brakes and jerked the wheel when he saw that he was heading off the road. He turned too sharp, or braked to hard, or maybe it was a mixture of both, cause the next thing he knew, his car was being flipped over. Luckily, he had remember to put on his seat belt.
Despite his precautions and attempts to protect his body from slamming into the interior of the car, he stilled got terribly injured. He felt his leg bone snap in half, and knew he was going to have a bruise on his ribs. But as the car began tumbling to a stop, he had hope that he would survive this, but he didn't get to see how it ended before his head cracked against the car and he blacked out.

Sam could hear loud noises blaring in his ear and giving him a headache. Where was he? What was the voices around him? Was he dead? All these thoughts were running through his head at the same time and forced his eyes to open, blinded by the brightness of the light.
When his vision began to focus, he saw a glowing orb on the ceiling. He frowned, tipping his head. What is that? He wondered, though he was quickly distracted when a face appeared in front of the light, looking down at him. It was a man, or maybe it was a woman? Sam couldn't tell.
"He's awake!" The man said, his white coat catching the glow of the orb. The man began checking him, asking him all sorts of questions like 'Was he in any pain? Did it hurt when I pressed here? Are you hungry?' Sam mainly didn't answer, just nodded his head yes or no. Eventually, the man finished and pressed a button, a smaller male walking in a moment later.
"Gabriel, would you mind taking care of this patient? I think he'll need to be well taken care of." The man in the white clothing said, patting the smaller guy in the blue clothing before walking out the door. Sam attempted to sit up, only to be pushed back down by the small man.
"Woah there, Gigantor. You need to take it easy." Gabriel said, grinning at him sympathetically. Sam furrowed his eye brows. Gigantor? What's that? "So, is there anything you want? Any questions?" Sam opened his mouth before closing it again. What could he ask?
"What's that?" He asked, pointing at the orb that was floating above them. Gabriel looked up and frowned, looking back down at the patient. Sam felt a flicker of fear. Did he do something wrong? He thought, pressing against his bed in an attempt to make himself smaller.
"Are you talking about the light?" Gabriel asked, pointing at the same thing Sam did. Sam nodded, tucking that word into his memory. Light. It sounds......pretty? Is that the word? He wondered, but he was distracted by something brushing his arm and looked down, his eyes widening in horror. He let out a screech, trying to tug out the sharp thing that dug into his skin, only for Gabriel to pin his hands down, his own panic in his eyes.
"Hey! It's okay. It's just an IV!" Gabriel said, keeping Sam's hands pinned as he leaned over, a reassuring look on his face. Sam slowly relaxed, Gabriel's expression making him feel so safe. It made him think of someone, but the thought was gone before he could remember who it was.
"I...V?" Sam echoed, the confusion once again replacing his features. Gabriel sighed in relief and nodded, slowly removing his hands. He smiled at Sam, who didn't notice the worry that prevaded his face.
"Yes, an IV. It keeps you hydrated." He said, only to clear his throat when Sam looked even more confused than before. "I mean, it keeps you from getting thirsty." Sam only nodded at this, realizing that he was right, he wasn't thirsty at all, though the growling in his stomach did suggest to something else.
"Can I have food?" Sam asked, his eyes becoming like a puppies. Gabriel couldn't help but smile, making Sam smile as well. The boy in the blue nodded, pulling out a black device and clicking a few buttons before returning it to its spot on his belt.
"I'll go get your food and the doctor will be here in a minute. Is that okay?" He asked and Sam nodded in response. He only got to the door though before Sam said his name, making him turn and look at him. Sam waved, smiling his biggest smile, which made Gabriel laugh in response before walking out.

Sam chewed on the food, not even noticing how bland it tasted because he felt so hungry. His gaze wondered over to the door, were he could see Gabriel and the....doctor was it? Yeah, doctor, talking. After a minute, they both walked in, in which Sam looked at his food, hoping they didn't catch him staring.
"Sam?" Gabriel said, resting his hand gently on Sam's shoulder. Sam looked up at him and grinned, only for it to falter when he saw how sad both of them looked. Gabriel offered a small smile, but even Sam could tell that it wasn't real. "Can I move your food so the doctor can check up on you?"
Sam looked over at his food, pondering this for a moment. Well, he knew Gabriel would bring it back. He trusted the brown-eyed guy in the blue. He nodded and watched as Gabriel lifted the....plate, and placed it on the counter by the sink. The doctor wheeled away the table and began his 'checkup', mainly asking questions and feeling his head with his fingers.
After a while, he finally sighed and turned to Gabriel, which made Sam even more curious. "He has complete retrograde amnesia. It's incredibly rare, but his mind is like it was when he was around the ages of three or four. The good thing is, he will pick up on things quicker than he did when he was younger and maybe even get his memory back with time." The doctor said, handing his clipboard to Gabriel.
"I know you've never seen a case like this. I haven't either, but I'd like for you to take care of him while he is in the hospital, maybe even out of it if we can't find his family. We've had no luck so far." The doctor shook his head, looking at Sam with pity. Of course, Sam couldn't recognize pity, so he though that the doctor was only sad.
"Of course. I think he already trusts me anyways." Gabriel replied, a small, cocky grin stretching across his face. The doctor only gave a soft chuckle before he walked out the door. Gabriel turned back to Sam when he left, bring his tray of food back over to him.
Sam began eating again, but since he was starving, its taste made him wrinkle his nose, pushing it away. Gabriel only chuckled midly, ruffling Sam's hair gently, though it only seemed to improve the fluffy mess. "It is disgusting isn't it?" He commented, glancing around before pulling a candy bar out of his pocket. He handed to Sam, grinning, which made Sam's smile reappear. "Don't tell anyone I gave you that. It'll be our secret."
"Thank you, Gabe." He said brightly, taking the candy bar and, with a little trouble, tearing the wrapped off the chocolate, munching on it like it was the first time he had eaten chocolate. But that was rediculous, he could recognize the taste, though only faintly.
"You're very welcome." Gabriel said, amusement crossing his features. Sam hugged him around the middle, his arm with the IV not moving as Sam still remembered the weird feeling he got the last time it moved, so he settled for a one-armed hug. Gabriel tensed under him at first but slowly hugged him back.
Sam pulled away after a moment and quickly finished the chocolate bar, taking a sip of the water that was set out for him. He smiled before a yawn escaped his lips, his eyelids beginning to grow heavy. "Sleepy" He whispered, waiting until Gabriel moved the rolling table and plate away before wriggling into his bed and closing his eyes as the lights were turned off.
He didn't relax long however, before he heard the door open. He opened his eyes and saw Gabriel walking out and sat up, clutching at the covers. "Gabe?" He whimpered, making the male in the blue pause and look back at him.
"What is it, Sam?" Gabriel asked kindly, turning to face him. Sam fiddled with his sleeves, glancing around the dark room with a little bit of fear. He didn't want to be alone.
"Will you sleep with me tonight?" Sam asked, his voice quivering. Gabriel blinked in surprise, but it slowly softened as he saw how scared Sam seemed. He mumbled something under his breath that Sam couldn't quite hear. He thought he heard four, but he wasn't sure, as he was once again distracted by Gabriel walking over to him.
Sam slid over to the side of the bed, giving Gabriel room to slide under the covers as they pressed against each other on the small bed, attempting to get comfortable. When they finally did, Sam smiled and curled up against Gabriel, drifting off to sleep, leaving Gabriel to slowly do the same.

Gabriel's POV
Gabriel woke to a small shake on his shoulder, turning his head sleepily to see Dr. Smith. He had a moment of confusion, but then remembered that Sam had asked him to stay for the night, which he had agreed to.
"I just came to check on him? How's he doing?" The doctor asked, a knowing look in his eyes. Ah, he almost forgot. The doctor had kids so he probably knew what it was like to deal with their sleeping habits.
"He's just like you said, basically a four year old that is learning about the world, but he's picking it up quick, so I'm honestly not worried." He said, his hand subconsciously moving to brush through Sam's hair. Sam stirred momentarily, a smile appearing on his face as he settled back into his deep sleep, which made Gabriel smile again.
"Well, it's good that he's making progress. Anyways, I'm going home for the night. It's already almost two am. You can go ahead back to sleep. I'll wake you in the morning." The doctor said kindly before walking back out, leaving Sam and Gabriel alone.
Gabriel yawned, leaning his head back down onto their shared pillow. He let his mind drift as he slowly began to fall asleep again, finally sinking into his dreams.
