Chapter 1

Just a fun little 'What-if' I had while rewatching the first season of Fairy Tail.

So this happens around episode  22 after Fairy Tail was attacked by Phantom Lord, and they attacked Phantom Lord. But instead of the Master of Phantom Lord taking her to a tower, they send her directly to her dad. That's around the point we're at.

Enjoy!

Lucy woke with her hands tied behind her back and the ground rumbling beneath her.

She groaned and sat up, blinking her eyes wearily as she tried to remember what happened.

She could remember being attacked by the two from guys from the element four. The water woman and the earth guy.

Her eyes widened as she realized what was happening. She was in a carriage. The water woman had knocked her out.

She had been kidnapped.

Lucy looked at her side where she usually kept her keys to find they weren't there.

"Darnit," she muttered.

"Well, well, looks like the little lady's woken up." a voice said from the front.

Lucy's head spun to see who it was. Sitting in the front seat next to another person was a guy with spiky black hair and a ton of piercings.

"Let me go," Lucy growled. The guy just laughed.

"Look at her, thinking she's all tough. Don't worry, you'll be free soon." he laughed again as he turned back around.

Lucy growled again but didn't say anything. She knew she couldn't do anything right now. Just see if she could get away when they stopped.

She wasn't expecting for them to stop in front of her old home.

The guy with spiky black hair pulled her out by the arm. She barely moved.

"What- no! Why am I back here! This is the last place I want to be!" Lucy tried to pull away from his grip.

He held strong. "Aw, what's wrong little princess? Aren't you happy to be home?"

A maid, one that Lucy didn't recognize so she must be new, walked out the door and towards them. "Hello. The master asks that you meet him in his office. Follow me."

The two men that were in the carriage followed the maid, the one with the piercings still holding tight to her arm as he pushed her to go forward.

The maid led them through the familiar halls until the reached the doors Lucy knew to be her father's office. The maid knocked and opened the door, bowing when she entered.

"Sir, the two wizards are here with your daughter."

"They may enter." her father's voice replied.

The maid opened the door wider and Gajeel urged her through, none too kindly.

She was met with a familiar sight, one of her father standing at his desk, stern face as he glared them down.

Lucy made her face blank and walked towards him with a fire in her eyes. She wouldn't show her fear or anything.

"I see you've brought my daughter back to me. Thank you." he nodded to the two wizards. "Lucy, dear."

Lucy didn't say anything, staying straight-faced.

"I don't like what you did. We have many things to talk about. And you won't be running away again."

"What makes you say that?" she asked.

Her father glared. "Because if you do, their guild," he nodded his head to the two wizards behind her, "Have orders to completely destroy Fairy Tail."

Lucy grits her teeth and glared harder. "Well if I know Fairy Tail, its that they can take them."

Her father glared again. "You two may leave. I will send word if I need you again."

"And payment?" piercing guy asked.

"Will be sent directly to the guild."

The piercing guy nodded, and they left.

Leaving Lucy alone with her father.

"I want you to know that you Will be marrying one of the businessmen's son. And I expect you to give birth to a boy, the Heartfillia family needs an heir. So I expect you to be on your best behavior. No more of this wizarding nonsense. I'm sure you will come to your senses soon enough. You are dismissed."

He turned around.

"No."

He turned back. "What?"

"No. Fairy Tail is my family now. They've been more of a family to me in these last few months than you have in years! I don't want to come back just to be someone to use to make business ties! I'm going back."

It was quiet for a moment. "I gave you everything you've ever needed. You had a big house, all the toys and dresses you've ever wanted and this is how you repay me?"

"You've never given me one thing! Love, all you've ever done was push me away! Don't you think all I really wanted was some love from my dad? I wanted a family! And all you did was push me away! That's why I ran away! I made a new family, one where everyone supports knew another, and loves each other! The one thing you never did for me as a kid! That's why I'm going back!"

"Lucy Heartfillia-"

"No, dad. You've never known the real me. Lucy doesn't need pretty dresses or a large fortune. I'm Lucy of Fairy Tail, I'm not 'Lucky Lucy Heartfillia' anymore."

"Lucy!"

She stopped, taking a small step back in shock.

"Go to your room. You will not be leaving your bedroom until I say you can. Go, we have a party to attend this evening and I want you there. We will be meeting with your future husband." he turned around to look outside as he finished.

Lucy grits her teeth and turned to leave.

"Also, there are guards posted around. They have orders to not let you leave unaccompanied. So don't try to escape."

Lucy stormed out, making sure to slam the door. 'Well, there goes my escape plan.' she thought as she made her way to where her room was.

She opened the door and looked around, smiling softly.

"Nothings changed."

It hadn't. This was the one thing she had missed. Maybe she could smuggle some things out when she went back to Fairy Tail.

She frowned. Did they even know what happened to her? Did they realize she was missing? What would they do then? But with what her dad had told her, it would probably be safer if she stayed away.

She paced around for a few seconds before stopping and hitting her fist against the palm of her hand. "I'll have to call them, say goodbye. I wonder if there's a lacrima or something I can use." she grabbed her door handle and turned, but found it wouldn't move.

It was locked. And probably would be for a while.

Lucy groaned and fell onto her bed. There's not much she could do now.

She would just have to wait.

"Aaaaarrrgh!"

Natsu slammed his fist against one of the tables. "We've got to find her!"

Sitting at the table with him was Gray, Erza, and Happy. All looking worriedly at what they had sitting on the table.

A small brown bag that held celestial keys. The ones belonging to their friend.

Their friend who has disappeared.

"Calm down, Natsu," Erza ordered. "Now, explain to s what happened again."

Natsu took a deep breath. "I went to go see Lucy after the battle, and as we were walking to her house, we ran into Loke, who said he had found Lucy's keys lying on the ground next to a dropped bag of food. He said he felt as if something was wrong, and when I went to her house, she was gone. I haven't heard from her since before we went to fight Phantom Lord."

"That's when we knew something was wrong." Happy added.

Erza nodded. "Gray and I did ask around the surrounding area Loke said he found the keys, and we got a witness who says she was attacked by two members of the element four."

"Why would they want Lucy, anyway?" Gray asked.

"Don't know, don't care. But when I get my hands on them-"

"Lucy!"

Lucy woke up to knocking.

"Lady Lucy?" a voice called through the door.

She groaned and shifted so that she was sitting on the bed. She hadn't realized she had fallen asleep.

"Come in," she called back, and the door opened.

"We're going to help you into your dress." the familiar maids said.

Lucy smiled. "Thanks, guys."

The two smiled and got to work. Lucy smiled when they finished and she looked at her dress.

It was one of her favorites, a pink one that she had worn for some pictures.

"It's a little short now." one of he maids commented.

"It's fine, guys," Lucy said with a small giggle. 'I guess I have grown a bit since I left.'

Looking down at her hand, she saw the gold key she was gripping tightly. Sagittarius.  It was the only one she had on her, and the only one that could probably help her out if she ever got into trouble. She hadn't made a contract yet, so she would have to do that soon.

She soon found herself in a vehicle being driven by two guards, another inside with Lucy and her father.

"I expect you to be on your best behavior. No more of this Fairy Tail nonsense, do you understand?" Her father asked sternly.

"Yes, Father." She replied stiffly. Better keep him happy for now.

The rest of the ride was spent in silence. Lucy had brought a book to pass the time in the time it took to get there. She could almost feel the glare Jude Heartfillia was sending her.

They arrived and Lucy could see all the well dressed men and ladies in elegant dresses mingling as they walked up to the doors.

Lucy got off after her father and the guard, the guard offering his hand to help her down. She took it, giving him a gentle smile as she stepped out.

She followed her father inside, feeling a bit sad. It was full of people talking and laughing, but it all felt fake. Nothing like it felt in FairyTail, even if there was the occasional fight (usually Natsu and Gray).

He led her to a group of people who were chatting idly.

"Mr. Junelle. What a pleasure to see you again." Jude greeted.

The older man in the group turned and with a small grunt nodded. "Mr. Heartfillia. A pleasure to see you again, as well." His eyes slid to Lucy who was standing behind her father. "And this must be your daughter. I haven't heard much about her in a while."

"Yes. She's been away for a while." Jude replied.

Mr. Junelle waved forward a younger man. "Meet my son, Duke Sawarr. I believe our arrangement still stands?"

Jude nodded. "Yes, it still does."

Duke Sawarr stepped forward. He wasn't bad looking, but Lucy had no interest in marrying him. "Lady Lucy," he greeted with a small bow, taking her hand and kissing it. "It is a pleasure to finally meet my future bride."

Lucy held back a grimace. "Uh, nice to meet you, too, Duke Sawarr."

Both fathers watched the exchange. "Why don't you take her to dance, son." His father suggested.

Duke Sawarr grinned. "But of course."

He gently led her by the hand to the other side of the room where he led her in a dance. After a few, she excused herself to the bathroom.

She sighed in relief as she closed the door. "Finally, I can relax."

She then bit her lip. She had to contact her friends somehow, say goodbye. There had to be a way.

Lucy peeked her head out the door as another girl passed by, talking on a communication lacrima.

"Uh, excuse me. Can I borrow that?"

The girl turned to look at her. "Yeah, sure. Guy trouble?" SHe grinned.

"Uh, something like that."

The other girl finished her call before handing it to Lucy. The blonde quickly ducked back into the bathroom, calling and hoping she could get through to Fairy Tail.

It was answered by Mira.

"Oh, hello Lucy! Natsu's been looking for you."

"I need to talk to him, Mira! Can you get him? Or someone from the team, at least." Lucy replied.

"Of course, hold on."

"Wait, is that Lucy? Lucy!" Cana called, as sober as she always is from where she sat at the bar.

"Wait, Lucy?!" Natsu yelled, and she could hear him running over. Ne nearly knocked Mira over when he reached the lacrima, and she could see Gray, Erza, and Happy not far behind.

"It's good to see you again, Natsu." Lucy grinned.

"Yeah, where are you? We can't find you, and your keys were just lying on the ground! Where'd you go?" Natsu asked.

"Yeah, about that. Some members of Phantom Lord attacked me and took me back home. My dad won't let me leave. So, this is more of a goodbye call." Lucy explained.

"Wait, a goodbye call?" Gray asked.

"Yeah, my dad's marrying me off. I can't go back. Sorry guys." Lucy told them sadly, feeling the tears begin to gather in her eyes.

"Then we'll get you out!" Natsu yelled. "We'll come get you! No one can stop us!"

Lucy wiped away some of the tears. "It's not that easy. If I go back, my dad will get Phantom Lord to destroy the guild and get me again. I don't want you guys to get hurt!"

Natsu clenched his fist as Erza stepped forward and stated calmly. "Then that's a risk we'll have to take."

Natsu grinned. "We're coming for ya, Lucy. You're part of the team, you can't get away from us that easily."

Lucy couldn't help but smile and wipe away more tears. "Thanks, guys."

After telling them of where she was, she cleaned her face and opened the door to hand the lacrima back to the girl.

"Thanks for letting me use it." She smiled.

If she noticed that Lucy looked like she might have been crying, she didn't say anything. "It's no problem. And if you need anything else, don't hesitate to come find me. I'll be here all night. Thanks to my dad." That last part was muttered angrily.

"I know how you feel. Thanks. I'm Lucy, by the way."

"Carol." She answered as the two walked back down the hall where the rest of the people were. "Lucy Heartfillia, right? You ran away and joined a wizarding guild right?"

"You know about that?" Lucy asked.

"Most of the girls do. A lot say that it was a stupid decision, but I think it's great. Adventures and stuff. I've always wanted to join a guild, probably Blue Pegasus." She shrugged. "Not like I can explain to my dad, though."

"Yeah, my dad dragged me back. I was talking to some friends from Fairy Tail, just now."

"Wait you joined Fairy Tail?" She nearly squealed upon seeing the nod and the symbol on her hand. "Oh my gosh, that's amazing!"

Lucy smiled. "Yeah, everyone there is great. I'm sure you can join Blue Pegasus one day. And if you do get away, come visit me at Fairy Tail."

Carol gave her a thumbs up. "You betcha. And I'll visit whenever I"m in Magnolia."

Lucy smiled, and they parted ways when they reached the crowd, mainly because Duke Sawarr came and led her back into the crowd for another dance.

'I just have to hold on until they get here. I hope they come soon.'

It was a few dances later when the door was bust down with a large bang.

Lucy and Duke Sawarr had rejoined their families as everyone had sat down to eat. Lucy barely touched her food. But her head jerked around upon hearing the loud bang.

A large group of people walked in as if they owned the place, and Lucy could see the tattoos placed on their skin.

"They're from a dark guild!" Someone cried out in shock.

For once, Lucy was glad she had managed to smuggle in her whip and the key as she pulled them out, jumping from her seat.

"Lucy!" Her dad yelled. "Get back here!"

She stopped in front of them, ignoring her dad and the weird looks she was getting.

"Aw, little princess trying to play hero." They taunted.

Lucy grit her teeth as her father and the Junelle family tried to get her to come back. "No way, Dad. I'm not letting anyone get hurt."

The men smirked. "Aw, little Rebellious princess!" He continued to taunt.

Lucy growled. "I call upon thee, Saggitarious!"

A man with a bow and a quiver of arrows on his back, and wearing a horse suit appeared. "Righty- o, my lady!"

Sagitarious, I know we don't have a contract yet, but I need you to help me take these guys down!" She pointed to the group in front of them.

"Of course!" He pulled his bow back, taking aim.

"Get 'er!" The one she presumed to be the leader yelled, and they all ran forward.

Lucy unfurled her whip as Saggitarious shot the arrows. She hit anyone that got too close.

Lucy grinned, feeling as if he was back working with Team Natsu.

It got even better when the flames and ice appeared.

"Natsu! Gray!" Lucy cheered as they burst in.

"Glad we didn't miss the fun," Gray commented.

"Oh, yeah." Natsu pulled out her key pouch, tossing it to her. "Thought you might like that back."

Lucy caught them. "Thanks, Natsu."

As Erza joined in, and with a happy greeting of her own, the fight was finished in seconds.

Natsu stretched his arm. "Man, they weren't tough at all!"

"Yeah, they were actually pretty weak," Gray added.

Lucy smiled, happy to have her friends back.

"I'll have to agree," Erza commented as she requipped her weapon.

"Lucy Heartfillia!" Lucy spun around to see her father storming over, and the Junelle's looking shocked.

Lucy faced her angry father head-on.

"I thought I said you weren't to communicate with these people." He fumed.

"They're my friends, and I'm not going to let you control me." She retorted.

"Yeah! Lucy's part of our team!" Natsu added.

"She is also a part of Fairy Tail, and we protect our own," Erza added.

"Aye!" Happy added.

"Lucy, what I told you earlier was not an empty threat."

"Then bring it on, old man!" Gray challenged.

"Yeah! We're going to take them on, anyway!" Natsu grinned, lighting his fist on fire.

Lucy glared at her father. "I'm leaving. I'm going back to Fairy Tail. And there isn't anything you can do to stop me. We've beaten some powerful enemies, and we will do it this time. That's a promise."

There was a few moments silence as the two seemed to have a staring contest with each other. Then, without warning, Lucy turned and walk to the doors, stopping just before she left.

"Sorry, Duke. But I'm not Lucy Heartfillia. I'm Lucy of Fairy Tail!" She held up her hand, making sure all of them could see the pink emblem on the back of her hand.

Duke Sawarr blinked, still in shock. "Wait, does that mean the marriage is canceled?" He asked in confusion.

Lucy smirked. "Probably, yeah."

She left with her friends after that, cheering and having their own little celebration.

Because this was her family.

Jude Heartfillia watched as his daughter left with the members of Fairy Tail.

Mr. Junelle let out a small laugh. "She won't survive out there long. The girl's going to come running back home someday. My son can marry her then."

Jude nodded. "I suppose that's the best thing to do for now."

Jude did go through with his plan and was shocked to hear that Phantom Lord had been beaten.

He decided it would be best to leave her for now.

She'd come back.

They always come back.

At least, that's what all the other families with rebellious teens told him.

Phantom Lord was defeated by Fairy Tail, and both Guild's buildings were destroyed.

Fairy Tail rebuilt theirs bigger, and better. Now there was more space!

Lucy made sure to help out as much as she could.

Carol did end up visiting Fairy Tail on her way to Blue Pegasus. Their new Guildhall was completed, and Lucy now had Loke as one of her spirits. The master said he would let Master Bob know so that he would be ready when she arrived.

After a promise that the other would visit whenever they were in town, Carol left, a skip in her step and more confidence than Lucy had seen at the party.

She didn't plan to go back.

How was it? This wasn't the most thought through, just something for fun.

Adios, Amigos!
