CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE, suspension & family support
Hollyn now sat on the bench outside the front office. She sat next to Danny, Cole stood by her, letting her sit on the bench. He leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed and his head hanging low. Hollyn could feel his gaze on her, and she knew he was blaming himself for her being here. But she wasn't angry with him, she couldn't be. She chose to get involved, and she didn't regret it. Even if it meant being stuck in the hallway with most of the Walter boys. Hearing the principal lecture and scold her had made her feel horrible and she didn't even do anything wrong. She was trying to stop the fight, but he didn't care about that. He had said her punishment would be discussed with her parents. Hollyn was anxious about her parents reactions to this. She never had to deal with this before.
Cole looked down at her with concern, seeing she was messing with the charm bracelet he had gotten her. She was clearly nervous and anxious about the situation, and he hated seeing her like that. He hated that she was getting in trouble for nothing. It was his fault, he should've listened to her. He was so focused on Alex and his anger that he didn't think. Before he could say something to her, his mom walked out of the front office, staring at the kids with disappointment. Seeing her gaze. Hollyn shrunk back and frowned. She never once thought she would see Katherine look at her with disappointment. Her stomach churned as she looked down, feeling ashamed.
"Alex and Cole, you have a three day suspension, and the rest of you are suspended until tomorrow. So I guess we're going home." Katherine explains. turning to walk to the exit. "Now!" She adds, raising her voice when no one followed her at first. "You too Hollyn."
Hollyn looks at her with surprise. "But I was waiting for my parents."
"They asked me to bring you with us." Katherine informs, not giving her the full details. "Let's go."
Hollyn's eyes widen at this and her heart drops, realizing she's in serious trouble. Her parents had to have been so disappointed and upset about what happened, apparently even more so enough where they couldn't even pick her up. And that had her really worried about what was to come. But she knew it wasn't good.
Hollyn was quick to grab her backpack and stand up, standing up the same time as Isaac. They were the first ones up to follow her, soon followed by the others. Cole walks out of the front office with Hollyn, frowning as he glanced over at her. He was worried about her, wondering how her parents would react to the news. Would they be disappointed and upset with her? He hated the idea of her being punished for this. He should've listened to her, but he didn't. "I'm sorry." Cole murmured, causing Hollyn to glance over at him. He looked upset, his shoulders slumped as he shoved his hands in his pockets.
Hollyn sends him a reassuring smile and shakes her head. "It's okay. I should've realized nothing would've stopped you." She sighs and shrugs. "I just had hope that you would've listened, but I understand why you didn't." She reassured him. She didn't want him to feel bad. He already looked upset enough.
Katherine had been pissed when she found out about her boys being in trouble. She had been so surprised to hear Hollyn was included, she thought that Tara wasn't being serious when she said Hollyn's name. It had her confused because Hollyn had always been a good kid. Though she should've known with her hanging out with Cole a lot she would've bound to get in trouble at one point. And the truth is about her getting Hollyn home too, she didn't tell Hollyn the whole truth. Something wrong had happened with Carolyn and so James had took her to the hospital to check out what was going on. The school had called them when they were at the hospital and Katherine had volunteered to pick Hollyn up since she would've had to pick up her boys anyways. So she didn't want to leave the girl stranded at school.
James had called Katherine to see if she could get Hollyn and was relieved when she said she could. But Carolyn and James had agreed for Katherine not to tell Hollyn where they were right now so she wouldn't worry, at least not until they knew more about what was happening. Katherine had her own theory of what was going on with Carolyn, but she hoped she was wrong.
****
Hollyn sat at the table in the Watler house by Cole at the end of the table. Tension was thick in the air as silence filled the room. She stayed silent as George and Katherine talked to their boys about what happened, the disappointment and anger evident in their voices.
"Your mother and I don't tolerate fighting. That's not new, is it?" George questioned.
"You're not a bunch of toddlers. You should be able to resolve your differences without resorting to violence." Katherine explains, glancing at each of them. When she noticed Alex was looking at her, she nudges his shoulder. "Look at me. Now" Alex finally turns to look at her, and Katherine gives him a look. "You two are brothers. What you have is precious, and it is fragile, and God knows it can be ripped away from you in a second. You're all grounded for a month."
This caught everyone's attention, the boys glancing over at her with confusion, some complaining about it, and Hollyn looks up from the table to stare at her with wide eyes. "Wait, me too?" Hollyn speaks up, shocked. She had never gotten grounded before. This was a first, and she didn't like it. "I-I mean, I only tried to stop the fight. I wasn't actually part of it."
Katherine shares a look with George before she looks back at Hollyn. "We will let your parents decide on your punishment." She tells her. Hollyn frowns and looks down as she nodded. "But thank you for trying to stop the fight. That was very brave and mature of you." Katherine added softly, giving her a small smile. Hollyn looked up at her, a hint of a smile on her face as she nodded.
"And you'll be doing some extra chores before school until I say otherwise." George added.
"That's not fair." Lee speaks up. "We weren't even fighting." He said, gesturing to himself, Isaac, Danny and Nathan.
"I'm sorry, do you think this is just about the fight? We know you all been covering for Cole while he sneaks girls into his room in the middle of the night. Even you, Hollyn." Katherine adds, glancing at the girl who had a sheepish look on her face. In her defense, she hadn't told anyone because he was her best friend, and she didn't want him in trouble. "You're allowed to have boundaries and some privacy, but you're never ever allowed to sneak and lie. Got it?" Cole nodded in response, but he didn't say anything. Hollyn watched as the boys started to get up, but she stayed sitting. She had a feeling thy weren't done yet by seeing the look on Katherine's face
"I'm sorry. Did we say you're excused?" Katherine questioned and the boys all sat back down.
"All of you will be staying in this room until these two figure it out." George spoke, gesturing to Alex and Cole. Hollyn sighed heavily, crossing her arms and resting her head on her arms. This was going to be a while.
"Good luck." Katherine called out before she walked away with George.
"Consider it family bonding." George added.
The atmosphere in the Watler house was tense as the consequences of the school incident unfolded, and Hollyn found herself in the midst of a family confrontation. She was stuck with the Walter boys for an undetermined amount of time until Cole and Alex came to an understanding. The tension was thick as the silence continued, everyone glancing around awkwardly, unsure of what to say. No one wanted to be the first to speak.
Hollyn shifted uncomfortably in her seat, feeling uncomfortable and awkward. She could feel the tension between the brothers and wished she wasn't here. Or she wished she knew what to say or do to make things better. But she didn't, and she didn't know what to do or say. She looked around at the others, noticing they didn't seem to know what to do either.
Hollyn looks over at Cole, feeling a wave of concern when she noticed he was tense. His jaw was clenched as he glared down at the table, his expression filled with anger. She frowned, hating seeing him like this. She had an idea of how he must be feeling. He probably felt betrayed and angry, and she didn't blame him. She would probably feel the same if something like that happened to her. Sitting there, Hollyn decided to break the awkward silence "Um, guys, maybe we could try to talk it out? You know, express how you feel and try to understand each other?" she suggested tentatively, glancing between Alex and Cole.
Alex scoffs, rolling his eyes. "Talk it out? Like we're in therapy or something? No thanks."
"Fine, whatever." Hollyn sighs heavily, laying her head back down on her crossed arms. "Was trying to speed things along since it seems like we'll be here for awhile."
Cole glances over at her and notices she looked frustrated and tired, probably annoyed from being stuck in the situation. He didn't blame her, he was frustrated and annoyed too. But he couldn't help the small smile that crept up onto his face when he saw the way her nose scrunched up as she frowned. Even when she was frustrated and annoyed she was cute. He shook his head when he realized what he had thought, clearing his throat as he averted his gaze. He shouldn't be thinking about that right now.
The awkward silence returned as they all sat in their seats, no one sure of what to say or do. Some of the boys started to work on their homework, Danny was pacing the room now as he practiced his lines. Hollyn doesn't know how long they had been there, but she's pretty sure she memorized the lines for Danny's play.
"Okay. Okay, you've got it down." Isaac groans in annoyance. "We all could say it at this point."
"He has a point." Hollyn agreed, her voice muffled since she was laying her head on her arms.
"Yeah, I'm with them." Nathan chimes in, looking at Danny pleadingly. "Stop." He glances at Alex and Cole. "And you guys, can you just, like, figure this out? Like Hollyn said, just talk it out. Because this fight is affecting all of us now."
"Really? Because it seems like it's mainly affecting me though, right?" Cole muses. "You know, the one with the black eye?" Everyone is silent, Hollyn did lift her head up from her arm to narrow her eyes at him. After seeing her pointed look, he sighs and shakes his head. "Alright, fine. I didn't spread the rumor about you crying like a little b**h." He admitted, looking at Alex. "I wish I had, of course, 'cause you snitched on me to dad, but I didn't."
"I didn't snitch." Alex argues, but after seeing Cole's harsh look, Alex sighs. "Okay, I should have said 'no' instead of nothing to dad, but I didn't because of what you said about Jackie at the bonfire."
"What did you say about at the bonfire?" Lee chimed in, looking confused.
"Yeah, I kind wanna know too." Danny confessed.
"You guys, can we focus?" Nathan tried to reason, but the boys ignored him.
"You know what, Alex? I forgive you for punching me." Cole started and Hollyn sat up straighter, knowing this was going somewhere not good.
"Cole..." She warned, but Cole kept going, ignoring her.
"But I'm really sorry that you can't get over how jealous you are of me."
"Jealous?" Alex raises his eyebrows. "Who could be jealous of someone who clearly peaked their sophomore year of high school?"
And that struck another nerve for Cole. He stands, pulling his arm away from Hollyn before she could grab it and storms over to Alex. "Come over and say that again!" He sneered, being stopped by Danny who held him back.
"Maybe I will." Alex taunted.
"Guys..." Hollyn said worriedly as she stands when she noticed something off with Nathan. Concern fills her eyes when he started breathing heavily. "Nathan?" She ignores Alex and Cole, heading over to Nathan. "Nate, you alright?" She asked softly as she stood by him.
"Yo, Nathan." Lee calls out, trying to get Nathan's attention. He had noticed something going on with him too and was getting worried. When Nathan suddenly dropped to the floor and started having a seizure, Hollyn gasps and kneels by him as Lee stands. "Guys, Nathan!" He shouted, gaining the other's attention. They all sprang into action after seeing Nathan on the ground. Cole knelt by them, shouting for their mom.
"Somebody get mom and dad, go!" Cole called out and everyone but them and Alex left the room.
"Okay, he's having a seizure. I watched Greys Anatomy and Chicago Med like a million times," Hollyn admits. "You have to move him on his side and make sure his head isn't on the hard floor." She pulled her jacket off and folded it, moving Nathan so his head was laying on it. Alex and Cole watched her with surprise, impressed by how calm and collected she was being in this situation and the fact she knew what to do. Cole had to admit, he found himself falling in love with her even more right now.
The tension in the room had shifted dramatically as Nathan experienced a seizure, overshadowing the previous conflict between Alex and Cole. Hollyn, despite the stressful situation, demonstrated a calm and collected demeanor, drawing on her knowledge from medical dramas to assist Nathan. Cole couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for her competence in handling the unexpected crisis.
As they waited for George and Katherine to return, the atmosphere in the room transformed from anger and frustration to concern and worry. Alex, who had been engaged in a heated argument just moments ago, now stood there, visibly shaken by Nathan's condition. Soon they get Nathan to the hospital and Hollyn found herself in the waiting room with the Walters, sitting by Cole. Her leg was bouncing as she fidgeted with the charm bracelet she wore. She was so nervous. She wanted to know what was happening with Nathan, and it wasn't helping that everyone was silent, making the tension even worse. She just hoped Nathan was okay. She was surprised when she noticed her dad walking to the waiting room, walking over to her and the Walters.
"Dad?" She stands, frowning in confusion. "What are you doing here? I mean...Are you here for Nathan?"
"Yes, not only him though." James admits with a heavy sigh, wondering how he was going to explain this to her. He glances over at the others and clears his throat. "Let's head outside to talk." He wrapped an arm around her shoulders, guiding her outside the hospital.
Cole watches with concern, noticing the worry on his face. Something was wrong. He had a bad feeling. Hollyn was quiet as they walked outside the hospital, not liking the sudden change in her father. Once they were outside, her father stopped and turned to her, not knowing how to explain the situation. He was silent, and Hollyn was starting to get worried.
"Dad? Is everything okay?" She questions with concern, tilting her head to the side. When he continued to stay silent, looking lost in thought, her brows furrowed together and her heart dropped. She had a bad feeling. She swallows the lump that forms in her throat, her stomach twisting into knots. "Dad...Is mom okay?" She whispered, fear evident in her voice. She didn't like where this was going, and she was afraid of the answer she would receive.
James' heart broke when he heard her question, his suspicions confirming his fears. It was going to be difficult telling his daughter. He let out a heavy sigh, reaching up to rub his neck. "No, she's not, baby." He answers, shaking his head. When he noticed her eyes filled with tears, he pulls her into a hug, holding her tightly. Hollyn didn't know how to react, her mind racing. She was scared and confused, and all she could think about was her mother. "For some reason the chemo suddenly isn't working and her condition has worsened. The doctor said the chemo isn't working suddenly because her body has developed a resistance to it. They want to try a different treatment, but they're not sure how effective it will be." He pauses, his voice breaking slightly. "We're going to need to prepare for the worst. But I wanted you to hear it from me first before you heard any rumors or misinformation."
Hollyn's tears spills over, and she clung to her father, feeling her world crumble. "No...No, this can't be happening," She whispers, her voice shaking. "She was getting better. She was supposed to get better." She pulls away from her father and wipes her eyes with her sleeve. Her heart was aching, and her body felt numb. This was a nightmare. "When can I see her?"
"I'm not sure," James answers honestly. "Currently your mom is undergoing some tests to determine the best course of action. The doctors are trying to figure out how to adjust her treatment, but it might take some time." James looked at Hollyn with a pained expression, clearly struggling to stay strong for her.
Hollyn tries to process the news, her mind racing through memories of her mother, the hope she had held onto, and the dreams she had for her recovery. She feels a deep sense of helplessness and fear. She can't understand why this is happening when her mom was supposed to be getting better. "I need to see her," Hollyn insists, her voice trembling but determined. "I need to be with her. Even if it's just for a little while."
James nods, his own eyes moistening. "I'll see if I can get an update and find out if they can let us in for a visit. But you need to be prepared, Hollyn. It may not be easy seeing her like this. You should take some time to gather yourself before going in." He reaches out and squeezes Hollyn's shoulder gently, offering her a reassuring smile. "Your mom is a fighter, and I know she wouldn't want you to give up hope. She will continue to fight, and I believe she will pull through."
Hollyn nods, sniffling and wiping her eyes with her sleeve again. "Yeah, she's a fighter. And I believe she'll get better too. She'll pull through this. B-But can I have a moment alone?" She asked. James nodded and gave her a small smile and squeezing her shoulder before turning and heading inside.
Hollyn stood there, wiping her eyes again as she tried to calm herself down. She took a deep breath and released it, repeating the action several times. Tears still stung her eyes, but she was determined to remain strong. She didn't want to worry everyone else. But she suddenly felt her breathing quicken and her heart rate increased as a wave of anxiety hits her, tears filling her eyes again. She felt her chest tighten and her stomach twisted into knots. She squeezed her eyes shut, squeezing her hands into fists and shaking her head. You have to be strong, Hollyn. She tells herself. Don't let anyone see you upset. Not now. Be strong. Be strong. Be strong-
Her thoughts are interrupted by a pair of arms wrapping around her and pulling her into a hug. She immediately knows the owner of those arms, her tense body relaxing. She hugs him back tightly, burying her face in his shoulder. Cole had seen James leaving and saw the tears in his eyes. When Hollyn didn't come back, he grew worried and came out to see her. Seeing her distraught and on the verge of panicking, he couldn't stop himself from wrapping her in a hug. He just wanted to comfort her. She had done so much for him, he wanted to do something for her. His embrace was firm yet gentle, and his voice was soft and soothing.
"It's gonna be okay, Holls. We'll get through this together." He murmurs, resting his chin atop her head. "Just breathe, Hollyn. In and out. Slowly. Just like this." He inhales deeply through his nose, holding his breath for a few seconds before exhaling through his mouth. He continues his steady breathing, rubbing her back and stroking her hair. "Good job, Hollyn. You're doing great. Keep breathing like that."
Hollyn listens to his soothing voice and allows his comforting words to wash over her. She focuses on her breathing, inhaling and exhaling deeply, and she finds her panic subsiding. She focuses on his calm heartbeat, the sound of it slowly matching her own. Her anxiety and fear fade away, replaced by a sense of calm and safety. She allows herself to melt into his embrace, enjoying the warmth of his arms around her and the strength of his presence. In that moment, she feels like everything will be okay as long as he's there beside her.
"Thanks, Cole." She murmurs, her voice slightly muffled. "It's my mom...She's not-She's not getting better, she's getting worse and I'm-I'm scared. I'm so freaking scared." She confesses, her voice trembling and she felt her throat tighten as tears stung her eyes again. She squeezes her eyes shut, willing her tears away and takes a shaky breath. "And I-I don't know what to do. I feel so helpless."
Cole listens to her speak, his heart aching for her. He hates seeing her in so much pain and fear. He wants nothing more than to take it all away and make her smile again. "I'm sorry, Hollyn." He murmurs. "I wish there was something I could do to make things better. But you're not alone. You have me and your dad and the others. We'll all be there for you and we'll get through this together." He holds her tighter, wanting her to feel the support and strength of his words. "I'm here for you, Holly Berry. Always."
Hollyn listens as his calming words soothes her aching heart. She lets his comforting presence wash over her, and she feels her spirits lifting slightly. His words hold a power and sincerity that cannot be denied, and she allows herself to draw strength from them. She clings to him, drawing strength from his embrace and allowing his words to give her a sense of hope and reassurance. She closes her eyes, resting her forehead against his shoulder. "Thank you, Coley. I really needed that."
"Anytime, Holls." Cole replies softly, holding her tightly. He gently kisses the top of her head, hoping the small gesture can bring her a bit of comfort. "Anytime."
Hollyn feels a strange sensation in her chest, her heart fluttering and a blush warming her cheeks. She can't explain the sudden butterflies in her stomach, nor the way her pulse races. But she finds herself not wanting to let go, wanting to remain in his embrace. So she held on, letting his strength and support envelop her and chase away the shadows of her fear and sadness.
James steps outside to check on his daughter, pausing when he sees Cole hugging her. His heart warms at the sight and he can't help but feel grateful that Cole is there for his daughter. He smiles softly and heads back inside, deciding to give them a few more moments together. Cole and Hollyn stayed like that for a while, not wanting to let go of each other. Hollyn had never felt so safe and secure, and Cole had never felt so protective and caring. They both felt like they could stay there forever, but they knew they couldn't. They had to go back inside.
Cole pulls away first, gazing at her with a small smile. Her eyes were red from crying, but she still looked beautiful to him. He gently brushes her hair behind her ear and wipes her tears away with his thumbs. "How are you feeling now?" He asks softly. "I mean, besides not almost having a panic attack."
Hollyn lets out a shaky laugh and wipes her eyes, smiling weakly at him. "I'm okay as okay as I can be. Thank you."
"Anytime, Holls." He assures. "Ready to go inside?" He asked softly, reluctantly pulling away from him and offering his hand to her. Hollyn hesitated for a moment before reaching out and taking his hand. She felt her heart flutter as their hands intertwine, and she felt a strange sense of calm. She squeezed his hand, earning a small smile in response from him. They walk inside together, holding hands.
Katherine heads over to Hollyn immediately when she came back inside. James had just told everyone else the news and had gone to see how Hollyn was doing. "Oh, honey. Are you alright?" Katherine asked gently, noticing her tear stained cheeks and her red and bloodshot eyes.
Hollyn nods, squeezing Cole's hand. "Yeah. I'm fine. How's Nathan?" She asked, changing the subject. She didn't want to focus on herself, wanting to know about Nathan.
"The doctor said they're going to keep him over night, but he's stable and talking. Though they found out he has epilepsy and he's going to have to take medication for it." Katherine informs her and she smiles softly, squeezing her shoulder. "He's going to be alright, though. I'm sure your mom will be too. Your mom is one of the strongest people I know. She'll pull through, sweetheart." She pulled the young girl into a hug, kissing the top of her head.
Hollyn didn't hesitate to hug her back, burying her face in Katherine's neck. Katherine had always been like a second mother figure to her and she appreciated the support and comfort from her. "Thank you." She whispers. "I'm glad Nathan is alright."
"Me too." Katherine sighed, rubbing her back. When they pulled away from the hug, she squeezed Hollyn's shoulders and gave her a reassuring smile.
"Sweetheart, I just finished talking with a nurse and she said that we can go see your mom if you think you're up for it. They just finished some tests so she might be sleeping, but you can still go see her." James spoke up as he walked over to his daughter.
Hollyn's heart skips a beat. The chance to see her mother, even if she was sleeping, brought a glimmer of hope. She takes a deep breath, feeling a mix of fear and determination. "I want to see her." She said softly, her voice steady despite the tremor in her heart. She wanted to see her mom.
James nods, giving her a reassuring smile. "Alright. Let's go, baby girl." He placed his hand on her back and guided her to the room her mother was currently in. Once they got there, Hollyn paused in front of the door. She took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, gathering her courage.
"It's okay, sweetheart. Take your time. There's no rush." He spoke softly, trying to comfort her. He rubbed her back gently, trying to ease her nerves. Hollyn appreciated his support, feeling her nerves calm. After a moment, she opened the door and walked into the room, her heart pounding in her chest. The sight of her mother lying in the hospital bed, connected to various machines, was a harsh reality check. Carolyn weakly smiled upon seeing her daughter, but the pain in her eyes was evident.
"Hollyn," Carolyn whispers, her voice raspy and her eyes watering. She reaches out her hand, and Hollyn immediately holds it, sitting beside her mother. James sits in the chair on the opposite side of the bed, reaching out to take his wife's other hand. "Oh, my sweet beautiful baby girl." Carolyn smiled weakly at her daughter, her thumb brushing over the back of her hand.
Hollyn's own eyes water and her heart aches. She hated seeing her mother so weak and fragile, the woman who was once so full of life. It hurt to see her mother's normally bright and vibrant eyes now dim and tired. "Mom," Hollyn croaks, her voice cracking as tears well up in her eyes. "You're gonna be okay. You'll pull through this."
Carolyn gives her daughter a soft, pained smile, and Hollyn can tell her mother doesn't believe her words. The pain and hopelessness in her mother's eyes is so clear and so strong, it sends a wave of panic through Hollyn. She swallows the lump in her throat and squeezes her mother's hand. "I know you will, mom." She insists, her voice shaking. Hollyn sniffles, wiping away the tears that threatened to fall. "How are you feeling?"
Carolyn gave a weak smile, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "Been better. But, I'm not dead yet, so I'm counting that as a win."
James and Hollyn chuckle a little at Carolyn's attempt to lighten the mood. "That's my girl," James grins, leaning over to press a kiss to her forehead. "Always finding the silver lining." Carolyn smiled fondly at him, her face warming at the loving gesture and his words.
"Hey, you know that I'm not going anywhere, right?" Carolyn said, looking between her husband and daughter. "You both are stuck with me." James and Hollyn exchanged glances, their expressions conveying a mixture of worry and hope. They both knew that it was too early to predict the outcome, but they clung to the glimmer of hope, holding onto the possibility of a miracle.
"We'll take any amount of time we can get," James says, a hint of sadness in his voice. "As long as we're together, that's all that matters."
The hospital room became a space where emotions collided — the love shared by a family, the pain of an unexpected illness, and the resilience needed to face an uncertain future. Hollyn held onto her mother's hand, her heart heavy with guilt and fear. Carolyn, despite her weakened state, tried to comfort her daughter and husband, finding solace in their presence.
Soon Hollyn and James left, letting the Walter family come by to visit with Carolyn. Only two visitors could be in the room at a time. Hollyn walked down the hallway with her father, her mind reeling with a mixture of emotions. Her thoughts were plagued with questions, doubts, and fears. How could this happen? Why her mother? What would they do? How would they cope with this new reality? The uncertainty weighed heavily on her heart, and Hollyn found herself overwhelmed by the magnitude of the situation. Carolyn appreciated the Walter family more than they would ever know. The fact that they had visited her, and stayed for her was very much appreciated. When she had found out Nathan was having his own medical problems, the guilt had started to consume her, and she felt awful for him and his family, but she was relieved that Nathan was alright and he would be okay.
When Hollyn found out the news about Nathan having epilepsy, her heart ached for her close friend and she wished she could take the pain away from him and his family. She couldn't imagine how hard it must be on him and his family, knowing his life would be forever changed because of this. It was scary, knowing there was nothing you could do, but she was going to be there for him and his family, every step of the way. After she got home with her family, she had decided to take a walk with Lottie, spend some time alone and clear her head. It had been a stressful day for everyone. Her parents had told her that her mom was able to go home, they would just have to closely monitor her condition, get the medications she would need and think about doing treatments. Hollyn was relieved, she was happy her mother was able to come home, but the whole thing was terrifying her. She was afraid, and it made her sick. The last thing she wanted was to lose her mom.
Hollyn had gotten a call from Jackie, checking in on her and seeing how she was. She was appreciative of Jackie doing that, it made her feel a bit better. She told her the news and Jackie was heartbroken and sympathetic for her. Hollyn could tell Jackie was really upset about this, it was hard not to be. She told her to call or text her if she needed anything, which was a sweet gesture and Hollyn was thankful.
But with everything going on, Hollyn needed to clear her head and be alone. Her anxiety and stress was at an all time high and she needed to try and calm herself down. She had went on a walk, Lottie beside her. It was peaceful and quiet, just what she needed. It had started to rain, and she didn't mind. It felt nice, the cold drops of rain hitting her skin. Lottie seemed to like it, too, running around and jumping in puddles. It was a calming sight and made Hollyn smile, and her heart flutter at the cuteness. It helped her forget about everything, if only for a little while.
