Forest
"Oh I don't know Belle! With Abella!" He didn't even glance my way. He kept on drinking, his 3rd or 4th one by the looks of it. He cheered with his buddies taking all the praise and not caring about anyone, not even his own children! I walk away, to find Abelle.
I see her, surounded by many of the other town's folk children. She listens and take care of them all. "Madame Abelle!" I call out, rushing over.
"Oh, bonjour Belle. Is everything alright, love?" She tucks a a gray hair behind her ear that had slipped from her bun.
"Bonjour, Madame Abell... Well, no everything is not alright. Have you see my children? Gaston said they were with you!"
"He did? Oh, love, must have been some missunderstanding! He said they were with you!"She takes my hand with a worried expression. "Could they be with their friends?"
Almost as soon as she spoke, Mounsieur Albert, Collete and Gaston Maurice's friend's father ran up to us. "Bonjour, so sorry to interrupt, but have you seen Delmar and Courtney?" He shared the same worried look as I.
"No... And I am missing my children aswell!"
"Why, I saw them playing together down by the open of the forest trail!" He exclaimed. "I told them to stay away from there, and to come join the festives... I suppose they snuck back around!"
~~~3rd Person POV (about the time the festives just started)~~~
"C'mon, G. Maurice, it'll be fun!" Collette calls to her brother. She holds hands with their older friend, Delmar. He also holds his younger sisters hand.
"Oh... I don't know, Colette... I think we should go back now..." He looks up to Delmar. "Mon Ami, please... I'm scared..."
"Ah! Come along now, I will protect you from the beasts within these woods! It will be fun! Then we can be brave! Like our fathers!" The eleven year old puffs out his chest and acts like a soldier. This earns a laugh from the younger children. "Come along, now!"
~~~(Time Skip. 3rd Person POV)~~~
The woods had thickened only a few yards in. But now, atleast a few miles into the woods...
"Can we go back now? Please?" Courtney shivered. The air was colder, it was darker, and there were many sounds of creatures unseen.
"No... Just a little farther!" Delmar said. He was now carrying Colette, practicaly dragging Courtney, and the little Gaston Maurice held onto his leg.
"Why? We've gone far enou-" G. Maurice stopped walking, he had frozen in fear. "Wh-what was that?!"
They all stopped, petrified.
"W-wolves!"
"RUN!" Colette yeld.
Screaming, they bolted down the path. Delmar set down Colette and picked up a thick fallen branch. The kids stayed close to Delmar, and picked up branches for themselves to defend with.
They ran and ran. Their lungs burning, sharp pains in their calves, and bodies begging for mercy.
They didn't stop. That is, until, Courtney screamed... And the first wolf lunges.
