Sombra vs Spy
Requested by probatfear
Overwatch vs Team Fortress 2, two operatives of the dark will work behind the scenes and strike to seize the victory
<Cue: Invader Theme>
Toomi: In a battle; most people tend to be out in the front lines.
Megumi: But some people stay in the back; working behind the scenes
Toomi: Such as Sombra, the master hacker of Overwatch.
Megumi: And Spy, the mysterious enigma of an assassin of Team Fortress. She's Sachi-san, Toomi-san and I'm Megumi-san.
Sachi: And it's our job to analyse their weapons, armour and skills to find out who would win in a Death Battle
Sombra hacks into What if Battles
<Cue: Digital Love by Daft Punk>
Toomi: In the aftermath of the Omnic Crisis, thousands of children were left without a home and nowhere to go. One of these children would eventually grow up to become the hacker Sombra.
Megumi: But before she took up the mantle of Sombra, Olivia Colomar, as mentioned already, was an orphan on the streets of Mexico. Desperate to live; she used her natural skill at hacking and using computers to manipulate individuals to her needs.
Sachi: Later on, Olivia was taken in by the Los Muertos gang; and she aided them in their self-styled revolution against the government by providing information to them. Info from politicians, famous dudes, corporations, you name it. This became an addiction, but later on she was caught by a global conspiracy and forced to delete all traces of her existence.
Megumi: It took a while, but she came up after a few years or so... with the name Sombra. Oh, and she got cybernetic implants as well!
Sombra: Who is Sombra? Oh, you will never know.
Sachi: As such, she joined the terrorist organization known as Talon, but DON'T BE FOOLED! She has no true loyalites to anyone but herself
Toomi: As shown when, on a mission to assassinate Katya Volskaya, she went against orders and Blackmailed the CEO into "helping her out" from time to time
Sachi: Being the master hacker of Talon, Sombra is capable of hacking into even the most secure of security systems, she is also able to interact with her and Talon's computers via touchscreen hologram
Megumi: She can also disable superhuman abilities, unique skills and certain technologies and ultimates. Oh, and she can hack Health Packs, allowing them to spawn only for Sombra's team and to refuel within 4 seconds.
Toomi: But when Sombra needs to defend herself, she is armed with a machine pistol which she can fire 60 rounds, causing 2 to 8 damage per round.
Sombra
Machine Pistol
Hack
Thermoptic Camo
Movement speed increases to 8.8 meters per second.
Handheld Translocators
Opportunist
EMP
Megumi: And with her EMP, Sombra is more than capable of hacking all surrounding opponents and completely destroys shields or barriers
<Shows footages of Sombra deactivating Zenyatta's shield>
Toomi: In fact, Sombra is so good of a hacker she is able to hack into the Russian Security System which is by the way, one of the most advanced security system in the world.
Sachi: And she is able to blackmail Katya Volskaya, one of the most powerful political figures in the world.
Toomi: Not only that, but Sombra even hacked into an arms of a giant size mecha.
Megumi: Damn! Someone keep Mechagodzilla away from that girl.
Feats
Hacked the Russian national security system; considered to be the most advanced in the world.
Blackmailed Katya Volskaya; CEO of Volskaya Industries and one of Russia's most powerful political figures.
Infiltrated Volskaya's industrial complex and past through her military guards.
Was able to hack the arm of a kaiju sized mech.
Discovered an Illuminati-esque faction and is currently working her way to discovering more about the group and the potential global conspiracy linked with it, Talon, Overwatch, etc.
Can take a blow from a wrecking ball
Able to outrun fully trained soldiers
Toomi: However skilled of a hacker she is, Sombra unfortunately falls short in terms of combat skills, as she prefers to hack and attack from a distance rather than take on opponents in a full one on one fight
Sachi: And her translocator is far from perfect, her speed boost cannot be performed when she is decloaked and she also cannot fight while she is invisible
Megumi: And Sombra is still pretty much a full one hundred percent human, possessing no superhuman abilities of her own. Not counting hacking of course.
Weakness
The weakest of the Offensive champions.
No superhuman endurance.
Not designed for conventional combat and can be overpowered easily.
The high spread of the Machine Pistol makes Sombra ineffective at long ranges.
Translocator is not perfect.
When Sombra Teleports; a flash of light moves from her previous location towards the Translocator.
Translocator has a 15 second duration (in game). After that the batteries of the locator die and can't be used to teleport.
Translocator is visible as it is luminous; and so some enemies can set up a trap if Sombra teleports.
Invisibility temporarily degenerates when Sombra is in contact with another human.
Sombra cannot fight while invisible.
Sombra's speed boost cannot be performed while decloaked.
Cloaking and decloaking is loud.
Sombra also speaks when doing such actions... for some reason.
Hacking cannot disable conventional or primary weapons.
Despite what she says; Sombra technically can't hack everything.
All of Sombra's abilities (other than Opportunist) have cooldowns.
Despite being a major figure in Talon; Sombra is willing to sabotage her own faction to get what she wants.
This includes how she spared Katya Volskaya's life despite being ordered to assassinate her.
Before joining Talon; Sombra's hacking crimes were discovered by a Illuminati-esque faction.
Her identity was discovered again by Zarya and most likely Volskaya.
Lost to Zarya; as Zarya's ally Lynx Seventeen was able to identify her Translocator.
Toomi: Not only that but Sombra does sometimes tend to sabotage her own faction to get what she wants, leaving her own loyalty to Talon to be questionable
Sachi: And contary to how she thinks, Sombra cannot hack everything. Obviously, it does not work on conventional weapons like guns and knives and Zarya even managed to track her, proving she is not as perfect.
Megumi: But despite those weaknesses, Sombra has certainly proved her words time and time again which is what makes her one of the most dangerous members of Talon
Sombra: Boop!
Spy assassinates What if Battles
<Cue: The Reason by Hoobastank>
Toomi: Of all the Mercenaries within the RED Team, The Spy is arguably the most deadly.
Spy: Gentlemen.
Megumi: Other than the fact he comes from France, no one really knows his backstory
Sachi: And during the whole situation, he was already part of the Mercenaries hired by Redmond and Blutarch, to go into war to win over some land their dad gave to them...
Megumi: And he is Scout's father!
Scout: Boy, you the president of his fan club?
Spy: No. That would be your mother!
Sachi: Not how I would imagine "How I met your mother"
Megumi: And since that is what we know about the Spy's background, let us talk about his weapons, because he's the one ass in Team Fortress 2 that every single fucking player hates but every single fucking players always play....
Toomi: First of, Spy is a professional fighter. It is seen that even if his main job is to infiltrate enemy lines and kill them off from the inside, he is capable of handling a Heavy in single-hand combat.
Sachi: He single-handedly took out most for the Blue Mercenaries all by himself in that manner. And it is all thanks to his unique equipment. First off, he has his disguise kit. With this tool, he has the ability to change his appearance into any other mercenaries of the opposite side.
Megumi: In fact, he can disguise into anyone as long as the disguise is male...Just as he disguised himself into a pop star just to tell Scout that he's his dad without making him realize it.
Toomi: To do these ambush attacks, he wields his notable butterfly knife known as Bailsong. The Spy uses this butterfly knife is portable and small enough to be hidden, but this weapon is very little. In-game, The Spy can make a one-hit kill with this knife if he gets to backstab any target nearby...And he is very skilled with using this knife, he was able to dance with the Sniper and land the finishing kill.
Megumi: Next is his old-style revolver, this authentic killer can deal medium damage to any target, he uses this specifically to kill of any target who has their health from half or near fatal death.

Your Eternal Reward/Wanga Prick
Conniver's Kunai
Big Earner
Spy-cicle
Disguise Kit
Invisibility Watch
Cloak and Dagger
Dead Ringer
Sappers
Red-Tape Recorder
Sachi: And he has his Dead-Ringer, which he drops a fake corpse and turns invisible for 6.5 seconds while removing some status effects and gaining damage resistance, speed boost and an unflickered cloak for 3 seconds
Toomi: Spy is certainly not considered to be dangerous for nothing, he has been known to kill hia cellmate Joey with nothing but a toothbrush and can even kill enemies who can survive rockets to the face.
Megumi: Oh and speaking of rockets, Spy can even survive an explosion from Soldier's rocket
Sachi: Being sterotypically French, Spy is unsurprisingly good with women, even able to give a guy like Scout dating advices
Feats
Killed his cellmate Joey Murders with a toothbrush.
Can kill people with a tooth-sized knife.
Seduced Scout's mother.
Is right behind you.
Barely survived the Soldier's rocket
Used mutated bread as a substitute for his Sappers.
RED Spy took down most of the entire BLU team on his own and won.
His skill is so renowned that the Solider thought he killed an entire base of Australians who have superhuman strength and durability
Flew an airplane racing against Sonic the Hedgehog and other racers.
Can insta-kill men who can survive rockets to the face and robot doubles of the other mercenaries
Taught Scout how to date women
Survives disintegrating weapons that are at an atomic level with 125 health and one of the Cow Mangler 5000's uncharged shot can do 112 damage. Higher with Dead Ringer.
Albeit Engineer's buildings can be disarmed by a charged shot of Sodleir's Cow Mangler 5000, Spy's devices are resistant towards its possible electromagnetic explosion , only burnt like any other and the flames are quenchable.
Can backhand slap apart a wooden cutout board of a yeti (Yeti Punch Taunt).
Brings evidence when making "Your mom" jokes
Toomi: And a RED team Spy is deadly enough to the point he alone wiped out the entire Blue Team, in fact, his skills is so renowned that the Solider thought he killed an entire base of Australians who have superhuman strength and durability
Megumi: Oh man, when you mention it, it's even possible he could be right behind us.
Toomi: But despite his skills, ironically, when the Conniver's Kunai equipped, Spy has the lowest max health out of the mercenaries at 70 health, being one of the weakest characters in terms of stats
Sachi: And his invisibility degenerates if Spy is close to another human and his cloaks usually takes time to de-cloak and attack
Megumi: His knives also are extremely weak, dealing only 45 damage unless able to ambush with a backstab
Weakness
One of the weakest characters in terms of stats.
With the Conniver's Kunai equipped, has the lowest max health out of the mercenaries at 70 health
No superhuman endurance.
Not designed for conventional combat and can be overpowered easily if discovered.
Invisibility temporarily degenerates when Spy is in contact with another human.
Disguises immediately drop once Spy attacks with any weapon except the sapper.
Jarate and fire will expose his figure even when cloaked.
Cloaks do not last forever and require time to de-cloak and attack
De-cloaks have an auditory cue, and the Dead Ringer is especially loud when uncloaking.
Equipping the Dead Ringer denies regular cloaking
Knives are extremely weak, dealing only 45 damage unless able to ambush with a backstab.
Superhuman Bosses cannot be instantly killed by a backstab.
Red Medic stole the decapitated head of the Blue Spy, revived him with his technology and used the Spy as a guinea pig. This Spy is kept in the fridge, right next to the Sandvich.
Despite claiming himself a professional he is still just as crazy as his fellow Mercenaries
Spies cannot go through enemy players. Allied players however can go through each other; thus a Spy can be discovered if he bumps into someone else.
While the Knife can insta-kill with a backstab: it has no effect on Uber-Charged opponents.
The Razorback is designed to block and electrocute a Spy if he attempts to backstab.
The Eternal Reward consumes an entire cloak meter when used to disguise manually (unless done so in spawn room)
Unless against a robotic combatant, sappers are largely ineffective in a fight
Though he took out an enemy Heavy once, he is not strong enough to do so repeatively.
The one guy everyone hates.
Toomi: And Spy possesses no superhuman durability, meaning he can killed by conventional means of harm. And plus, his disguises won't fool anyone who is smart enough to tell who is a Spy or not
Sachi: And plus, nobody really likes him.
Megumi: Still with such an amazing set of skills made for the kill and the speech quotes made for the ladies.
Spy: Right behind you
Toomi: Alright, the combatants are set, let's end this debate once and for all.
Sachi: Don't forget to vote, comment what you think of the fight.
Megumi: Yeah, but right now, it's time for a Death Battle!
Fight
Sokovia base
In the deathly cold winter of Russia, two Russian guards stood outside of the base, shivering in cold.
One of the guard turns to his comrade and he said.
Guard: Brrr. I really hope our shift ends soon. God! I'm freezing!
The second guard didn't say a word, instead, he spun around and he swings a butterfly knife across the guard's neck.
Slit!
The guard widens his eyes in pure shock and agony, feeling his head slowly slide off his neck, toppling onto the floor.
Plop!
Just as the guard falls dead, the door suddenly slides open, signalling the guard to suddenly change back into the Spy.
Spy: Well, off to visit your mother.
The Spy then rushes into the base.
Inside
As the computer monitor flashes footages of the Spy running in, unknown to him, a short petite feminine figure sat in front of the computer, downloading the Sokovia database into her files.
Sombra nods and she says in satisfaction
Sombra: Iniciando el hackeo.
With the data obtained, Sombra turns around, only to freeze in her tracks.
Sombra: Que?
Sombra narrows her eyes, staring at the computer screen flashing footages of the Spy grabbing a nearby scientist by the head before turning it, snapping his neck in an instance.
Interested with the intruder, Sombra's mouth twists into a smirk and she said to herself.
Sombra: So many targets, so little time. Looks like I have time to do some research.
Sombra then presses on her translocater, causing a bright light to flash around her body.
FLASH!!!
Hangar
Inside the hangar, Spy quietly dashes across the hallway, halting just as a bright light flashes right in front of him.
FLASH!!!
Spy narrows his eyes and he pulls out his Stock revolver, growling
Spy: My knife is sharp, my watch is wound, my ski mask is freshly-laundered: time to win.
<Cue: Who's That Chick by Rihanna>
Announcer: Fight!
BANG!!! BANG!!! BANG!!!
Just as Sombra pops out, she quickly runs backwards, narrowingly dodging rounds from the Spy's revolver.
Sombra: I'm guessing there's no chance we can take care of this quietly, is there?
Sombra then pulls out her pistol, opening fire back at the Spy.
BANG!!! BANG!!! BANG!!!
Bullets rains across the floor of the base just as Spy and Sombra dashes across the room, shooting relentlessly at each other.
Sombra watches just as Spy brandishes Sharp Dresser, sprinting towards her.
Sombra then activates her translocator, causing a bright light to flash over her body.
Sombra: See you later.
FLASH!!!
Spy: Huh?!
Spy halts in his place, looking around in confusion.
FLASH!!!
Right behind him, Sombra reappears and she swings her talon across, cutting into Spy.
SLASH!!!
Spy: ARGHHHHH!!!
Just as Sombra rushes forward, the Spy turns around and he throws a kick, striking her square in the stomach.
WHAM!!!
Sombra: ARGHHHHH!!!
SLASH!!! SLASH!!! SLASH!!!
Spy cuts into Sombra before pulling out a revolver, pointing it right at her head.
Spy: Already? I haven't wiped the blood off my knife from the last round.
Sombra smirks and she said to him.
Sombra: If there is one thing I learned amigo, always leave yourself a back door.
WHOOM!!!
Right at that moment, a bright light flashes around Sombra's body, causing her to vanish once more.
Spy: What?!
WHOOM!!!
Sombra reappears right on the top of a platform, raising up her comn and she began typing onto it.
And at that exact moment...
WHOOM!!!
The Spy turns around, watching just as a large bulky mechasuit rises from the ground, stepping towards him.
Spy: I've gotten out of worse scrapes than this!
The mechasuit sprints forward, prompting Spy to jump to the side, dodging the mechasuit.
The Spy pulls out his Spy-sicle and he tosses it across the room, striking it right into the mechasuit's leg.
Clak!
At that moment, the mechasuit's entire body began freezing up in place, prompting the Spy to pull out Diamondback, opening fire at the now frozen mechasuit.
BANG!!!
KABOOM!!!
The entire mechasuit went off in a fiery explosion, sending blazing debris flying everywhere.
As the Spy rises, all of a sudden, several turrets rose from the hangar, opening fire at him.
BANG!!! BANG!!! BANG!!!
The Spy runs across the room, sliding into a nearby wall before activating his cloak, disappearing completely.
Hiding behind a crate, Sombra continues typing on her comn, her eyes surveying through the base's surveillance.
Sombra: Hm? Where did you go?
At that moment, Sombra felt something cut into her skin.
Slit!
Sombra: ARGHHHHH!!!
Sombra backs away, only to feel something strike her at the back of her head.
WHAM!!!
Sombra: Ow!
WHAM!!! BAM!!! POW!!!
Sombra grits her teeth as she felt several blows striking her across her body.
As she backs away, Sombra's entire body began flashing just as she activates her EMP.
Sombra: ¡Apagando las luces!
WHOOM!!!
The EMP travels across the hangar, instantly deactivating Spy's cloak.
BUSSSHHHH!!!
Spy: ARGHHHHH!!!
Sombra smirks as she pulls out her pistol, opening fire at him.
BANG!!! BANG!!! BANG!!!
Sombra watches in glee just as Spy's body falls flat onto the floor.
Plop!
As the Spy lies dead on the floor, Sombra steps over his body, looking down and saying to him.
Sombra: Ay, pobrecito! This wasn't your day.
Sombra turns around, walking out of the hangar.
At that exact moment, Sombra notices a medic kneeling next to dead guard, causing her to say to him.
Sombra: No point in doing anything amigo. He's already dead. Well, since I'm in such a good mood, why not you lead me to where your leader is.
As Sombra continues to walk forward, unknown to her, the medic slowly rose from the ground, twirling his Conniver's Kunai
WHOOM!!!
The medic then reveals himself as the Spy as he says.
Spy: Behind you.
Before Sombra could react, the Spy shoves the kunai right in her back.
SHOK!!!
Sombra: ACCKKKKK!!!
Sombra chokes out in agony, her entire body falls limp just as blood pours from her wound.
Spy then pulls his kunai out before swinging it across her throat, cleanly slicing her head off her neck.
SLASH!!!
As Sombra drops lifelessly onto the floor, the Spy drops a grenade onto the floor and he turns around, saying to himself.
Spy: Another day, another back with a gaping stab wound!
<Cue: Tf2 Main Theme>
Spy then walks away, his entire body slowly shifts into that of Sombra just as the grenade went off in a fiery explosion.
KABOOM!!!
KO!
<Cue: New Earth by Bruce Falconer>
Megumi: Wait, when I said I wanted to watch Rupaul Drag Queen earlier, this is not what I was expecting.
Toomi: Sombra certainly is one smart opponent, knowing the devices she could hack to turn the tables but sad to say, the Spy trumps her in almost every category.
Sachi: The Spy himself has wiped out an entire team on his own, fought against the likes of Heavy and even killed people with a toothbrush while Sombra could barely hold her own against any notable opponents in a straight up fight.
Megumi: I mean Sombra is a hacker, not a fighter. But her translocator does gives her an advantage, enabling her to teleport herself safely out of harm's way and reach a vantage point where she can attack.
Toomi: And though a skilled hacker she is, Sombra's hacking abilities are sadly useless in this battle.
Sachi: If you think about it, Sombra's EMPs are strong enough to deactivate machines and it is certainly useful in deactivating Spy's cloak. But considering Spy's methods of killing people with knives and guns, Sombra has literally nothing mechanical to hack into Spy.
Toomi: Just to note, the difference between Overwatch and Team Fortress 2 weapons is the base. Overwatch takes place in the future, meaning most of the combatants are armed with technology that grants them the ability to fight, heal and even protect themselves.
Megumi: While the Team Fortress dudes are more like our present warriors, using simple weapons like knives and guns. So while Sombra can deactivate her opponents in Overwatch, it does not mean it can work against characters that has no technological based weapons.
Sachi: And finally, their durability. Sombra's feat of surviving a blow from a wrecking ball, though impressive, is not the same as the Spy surviving a rocket explosion, which is a much more devastating blow than a wrecking ball
Toomi: Dominating Sombra completely in strength, combat skills, speed and durability, this is what gives Spy the kill over Sombra
Megumi: I Spy with my one little eye, the death of a Sombra.
Sachi: The winner is the Spy.
Spy: We have won the battle, now let's win the war!
Toomi: Hey guys, thank you so much for checking out our battle in What if Battles 2.
Sachi: If you want more content like this, don't forget to add this in your library and comment if you have any idea for a fight.
Megumi: Until then, next time on What if Battles....
