Po vs Donkey Kong

Requested by daleketchup

Dreamworks vs Nintendo, Kung Fu Panda vs Donkey Kong Country, Panda vs Gorilla, Bear vs Ape, when two animals with incredible strength clashes, only one will emerge the true champion

<Cue: Invader Theme>

Toomi: Po, the Dragon Warrior,

Megumi: And Donkey Kong, the defender of the largest Banana Hoard,

Toomi: While there are things that can motivate anyone, nothing motivates these two more than food.

Megumi: And when in doubt, punch. She's Sachi, Toomi and I'm Megumi.

Sachi: And it's our job to analyse their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle

Po Skadooshes What if Battles

<Cue: Kung Fu Fighting by Carl Douglas>

Toomi: Legend tells of a Dragon Warrior so skilled and deadly in martial arts that his foes would go blind from overexposure to pure awesomeness. A fighter of unrivaled power, wisdom, and rotundity.

Megumi: This is Xiao Po Ping, a panda born in the Valley of Peace. For the longest time, this valley only knew... well, peace.

Sachi: That is until the evil Peacock Lord Shen and his pack of wolves attacked.

Toomi: And all because he received a prophecy of a warrior in black and white that would defeat him, resulting in him leading a genocide on pandas.

Megumi: Really? This is why a peacock would try to wipe out one of the cutest animals in the world?

Toomi: Though Po survived thanks to his mother before being adopted by a literal Father Goose who raised him as if he were a son of his own.

Megumi: With his expert guidance, Po trained day and night to be... a waiter at a noodle restaurant. Not the hardline warrior life I was expecting.

Sachi: It was Po's dream to be a martial artist. He idolized all things kung fu, going so far as to make action figures of his heroes, the Furious Five.

Toomi: He was raised in the noodle shop, never seeking glory or fame. Though he climbed the mountain top and shockingly, earned the Dragon Warrior name

Megumi:  Wow, turtle must be getting old to be making accidents like these

Sachi: There are no accidents. Though Po wasn't really good at first, turns out that he's actually pretty gifted, he just needed the proper motivation, what what better motivation than food?

Megumi: Especially dumplings.

Toomi: Next to the Furious Five, Po experienced the classic Shaolin animal styles, which are actual practiced martial arts. Tiger Style uses ferocious combos, Monkey Style has unpredictable acrobatics, Mantis Style uses fast strikes, Viper Style implements fluid movements, and Crane Style is all about sweeping hits.

Megumi: But none of them suited Po, so he made his own. You guessed it, Panda Style.

Sachi: Which is sort of inspired by the real world Dragon Style, but mostly based around using his... roundness for defense, wearing down enemies until he gets an opening.

Po

Super Strength

Peak Level Durability

Bushido

Panda Style Kung Fu

Wuxi Finger Hold

Golden Lotus Clap

Nerve Attack

Feet of Furry

Fluttering Finger Mindslip

Twelve Impossible Moves

Thundering Wind Hammer

Mongolian Fireball

Megumi: When he isn't overwhelming you with his pure fatness, Po can launch a Hadoken with the Thundering Wind Hammer, immobilize foes with the Paralyzing Shoulder Touch, and blind you with the Golden Lotus Clap!

Sachi: Po has been in much more than movies, like TV shows, where he picked up a lot of new powers, such as the Hero's Chi, a life force passed onto a chosen every generation.

Megumi: This Shonen power-up lets Po counter mind control, shoot beams of energy, and make a giant dragon construct that devours pretty much anything.

Toomi: And of course, possessing the Hero's Chi makes Po comparable to the previous owners of it.

Megumi: Who was powerful enough to stop this huge meteor from hitting Earth! Po even defeated this dude, who'd absorbed the collective chi of the greatest fighters across China!

Sachi: He can evade lightning blasts, chuck a hammer into low orbit, and once cleared an entire cloud formation with just the flex of his pinky.

Megumi: This is his signature technique: The Wuxi Finger Hold. A move that warps anyone caught in it to the Spirit Realm!

Toomi: Which is the afterlife. No really, characters who have canonically died can be found here.

Sachi: And even should Po be unable to complete the hold, he can always use it on himself to bring his target to the Spirit Realm with him.

Feats

Survived being thrown down the stairs of the Jade Palace, multiple times

Learned the Wuxi Finger Hold all by himself.

Took a war hammer to the face and received no injury

Before he became interested in Kung Fu he unintentionally created the Furious Five

Survived multiple blows from Shifu, who is strong enough to casually destroy stone blocks

Defeated Tai Lung, a far superior opponent with only a couple days of actual training

Striked him so hard he went into the cloud layer

Figured out the meaning behind the Dragon Scroll

Fast enough to keep up with Master Shifu and the rest of the Furious Five

Achieved inner peace, impressing Shifu

Survived his first day of training

Held his own against Lord Shen, who is skilled enough to curbstomped Masters Storming Ox and Croc

Survived a point blank hit from Lord Shen's cannon, a smaller version of it was able to kill Master Thundering Rhino

Can perform dangerous Kung Fu techniques after seeing them in action only once or reading about them

Has shrugged off treacherous falls like it was nothing

Was punched through a building-sized stone and received no visual damage

Defeated Ke-Pa, the ruler of all demons, with his Heroes Chi when Oogway in his prime couldn't

Dodged and redirected cannonballs traveling twice the speed of sound

Trained an entire village of Pandas to use their natural attributes to battle Kai's Jombie army which included much of the Furious Five and Shifu

Defeated Kai, a former warlord and spirit warrior who possesses the chi of all deceased Kung Fu Masters including Oogway

Has mastered Chi and succeeded Master Shifu as the instructor of the Jade Palace

His Chi pool is so large, Kai got overloaded by it and exploded when attempting to steal it

This means it could be dangerous for any opponent to take Po's Chi, as they could also overload and be killed by too much of it

Toomi: He even overcame the tragedy of his past and found his inner peace. In this state of mind, Po has an immense amount of focus, enough to catch cannonballs!

Megumi: Which was useful against his fight against Lord Shen.

Toomi: Though due to his love for all things awesome, he tends to not take things seriously, which results in him losing in sparring matches against Tigress.

Sachi: And while he can form plans, he's not a really good strategist.

Megumi: And due to his weight, he can get tired climbing stairs though who doesn't.

Weakness

Very naive (can fanboy to anything he considers awesome)

Doesn't take certain things seriously when he should

Can become overconfident

Losses a majority of his fights with Master Tigress

Tad impatient

Fatigues easily when climbing stairs

While a capable planner, he's not really a strategist

Some powerful moves like the Wuxi Finger Hold can only be used via specific contact and action (In the case of Wuxi Finger Hold, Po must be able to grab the opponent's finger and use it the attack, instead of being able to just punch them quickly and instantly sending them to the Spirit Realm)

His 40 bun swallowing record had been heavily surpassed by his father Li, who swallowed 103 buns at once.

Toomi: And the WuXi Finger Hold, though powerful, can only be used in certain conditions such as a specific contact and action. Where he needs to grab his opponent's finger and use it to attack which experienced fighters like Tigress has countered before

Sachi: But in the end, Po now stands ready to teach the next generation, alongside his original father, who... apparently survived.

Megumi: Ha! Jack Black sure showed them.

Po: I am the Dragon Warrior. Get it? See the giant dragon?

Donkey Kong Barrels into What if Battles

<Cue: Commin' Home by Cheese Burger>

Toomi: Long ago, an illegal pet gorilla famously did battle with his abusive owner atop a construction site.

Megumi: The ape's name was Donkey Kong, and the conflict didn't go so well for him.

Sachi: After escaping, he fled to a remote island with his son, also named Donkey Kong. His son would later bear a child destined to rule the island. This powerful ape was named... you guessed it, Donkey Kong...

Megumi: And like all monkeys, DK love bananas.

Toomi: Not really, first of all, he's an ape and second of all, gorillas don't eat bananas. Their diet consists of stems, bamboo shoots and occasionally, termites.

Megumi: Regardless, this gorilla does love bananas and God forbid anyone who tries to steal them. And to defend his golden fruit, DK's got some ways how. Hell, Donkey Kong's sheer size alone is enough to deter almost any foe! The bastard is eight feet tall and eight hundred pounds!

Toomi: The largest gorilla to ever live was Gargantua, who stood at five feet, six inches tall, and weighed somewhere between 460-500 pounds.

Sachi:  Donkey Kong is a formidable foe, standing at an astonishing 8 feet tall, and he is purely muscle.

Megumi: How strong is he? Well, glad you asked! You see the moon? Imagine that but a bit smaller, and an ape is capable of punching it down to the Earth in a second.

Toomi: He can also charge forward with a multitude of strikes with the Spinning Kong, or flatten enemies underneath him with the Super Duper Simian Slam and strike the ground with Ground Pound, capable of either splitting the earth or stunning nearby foes.

Sachi: And like any ape, he's a skilled tool user, and his tools include the Coconut Cannon and Orange Grenades.

Toomi: He's also skilled at using barrels as projectiles, including one that gives him invincibility for a short while. When he wants to switch to land transversal, he can always find a mine cart or a rocket barrel for land and air areas respectively.

Megumi: DK is also pretty durable, having been able to take hits from Mario and crash-landing in a rocket. He also handles explosions well, too.

Feats

Served as one of Nintendo's very first mascots and villains

Reclaimed all of the Festival Medals from King K. Rool

Retrieved all five Crystal Bananas

Has participated in various Mario sports, Mario Kart, and party games

Is a Smash Bros veteran throughout the series

Participated in Punch-Out, where he fought Little Mac

Toomi: He's also brawled with Mario several times, and completely shaken off being shot with cannonballs. The average cannonball can move up to 220 miles per hour and weigh up to 42 pounds. This means he's getting hit with 9240 pounds of force! That's twice the weight of a small car!

Megumi: Damn, poachers better beware.

Toomi: However, Donkey Kong has a few weaknesses. For one thing, he's kind of dumb, with his name literally meaning "Stupid Ape".

Sachi: And he is really lazy.

Megumi: Not to mention the many times he lost to Mario, Peach, Little Mac and even King K Rool.

Weakness

Stupidity can be a hindrance at times. Usually uses his fists before anything else

This is likely due to the deformation of his skull. Donkey Kong's hair curl isn't just hair, it's a part of his skull (according to the tv show)

He once followed a treasure map that he didn't remember he made until he found the stockpile of bananas it led to.

During a fit of amnesia, he also was once convinced that he was a crocodile, despite lacking all of the physical characteristics of a crocodile.

He's also extremely lazy and, if it doesn't involve his banana horde, he doesn't like to work very hard

While running for president; DK's political slogan was 'I do nothing better than anyone' [3]

His strength correlates with the amount of hair on his head, meaning that, if he gets a haircut, he loses his power

The amount of orange grenades, coconuts, and Crystal Coconuts he can have are not infinite

The Crystal Coconuts, in particular, can be lost if Donkey Kong uses the Strong Kong form for too long

Has been defeated by Mario and Little Mac

Has been kidnapped or imprisoned by Mario and King K. Rool

Was handily beaten by Kong Fu

Can be bounded by rope or stuck inside a barrel: although he can eventually break out of both

Toomi: And speaking of his stupidity, where he got amnesia and thought he was a crocodile. Despite not even having any traits of a crocodile.

Sachi: And it's weird that his hair is his source of power so should he get a haircut, he can lose his power.

Megumi: Bananas are the only motivator that seem to work on DK, but they're also the only one he needs to bring out the big guns.

Donkey Kong: DK! I'm Donkey Kong!

Toomi: Alright, the combatants are set, let's end this debate once and for all.

Sachi: Don't forget to vote, comment what you think of the fight.

Megumi: Yeah, but right now, it's time for a Death Battle!

Fight

Bamboo Forest

Deep within the lush bamboo forest, a large pile of bananas sat on the grass, untouched.

Just then, Po drops down from a hill, pushing himself up as he exclaims out.

Po: Whoo! That was something. Hm?

Just then, Po notices the large pile of bananas and his eyes widens.

Po: Ooh! Nice, I'm starving!

Po then grab a bunch of bananas and began gobbling them up.

As the Kung Fu Panda is busy munching down on bananas, he is unaware of Donkey Kong peering out of the pile and upon noticing a stranger eating his bananas, began growling,

Just as Po is about to take another bite out of a banana, right at that moment...

Donkey Kong: SCREEECH!!!

Po: Huh?

Po looks up and right at that moment, Donkey Kong lands in front of him before throwing one punch, striking into Po.

BAM!!!

The impact of the punch sends Po flying, slamming body first into a rock before bouncing back, slamming into Donkey Kong.

POW!!!

As Donkey Kong recovers from the blow, Po exclaims out.

Po: Ho Ho wee! That was amazing! Show me what you got!

Donkey Kong: Very well, but you better not regret it.

Announcer: Fight!

<Cue: Here I Am by ZEROBASEONE>

Donkey Kong and Po rushes at each other, with Donkey Kong throwing several punches only for Po to easily block all the blows before thrusting his leg out.

WHAM!!!

The kick knocks Donkey Kong back only for the gorilla to grab Po by the leg before slamming him onto the ground back and forth.

WHAM!!! BAM!!! POW!!!

Donkey Kong then throws an uppercut, sending Po flying upwards.

WHAM!!!

Po: WHOOOOAAAA!!!

Po then grabs onto a bamboo branch before pulling it out, lifting it over his head before slamming it down onto Donkey Kong.

BONG!!!

Angered, Donkey Kong picks up several barrels before throwing them at Po, whom the latter easily shatters with several punches and kicks.

Po then grabs one of the barrels before throwing it back at Donkey Kong only for the gorilla to break it with one punch.

CRACK!!!

Donkey Kong then pulls out an orange grenade before tossing it to Po, saying.

Donkey Kong: Here, have an orange.

Po: Oh really? Neat!

Po naively takes the orange grenade, preparing to take a bite only for it to blow up on his face.

KABOOM!!!

The explosion sends Po flying back just as Donkey Kong dashes after him.

The two rolls down the hill, exchanging blows amongst themselves.

WHAM!!! BAM!!! POW!!!

Donkey Kong then pulls out a coconut launcher before firing it at Po.

BOOM!!!

The Panda however simply catches the coconut before flinging it back at Donkey Kong, striking him in the head.

BONK!!!

Donkey Kong spins around before grabbing onto Po, the two wrestling each other until the two slams onto the ground.

THOOM!!!

However, as Donkey Kong's head is on the ground, Po's backside landed right on top of Donkey Kong's head, squishing him underneath his weight before the two fall flat onto the ground.

While Po is recovering, Donkey Kong pushes himself up, saying.

Donkey Kong: This guy is tougher than he looks. But he won't last long against this.

Donkey Kong began charging up electricity before launching himself at Po.

Po however, began performing the Golden Lotus Clap, clapping his hand as it unleashes a bright blinding light.

SHING!!!

Donkey Kong: YAAAAHHHHH!!! My eyes!

Donkey Kong falls onto the ground, clutching his eyes in agony as he found himself blinded by the attack.

Po then began charging up a blast of energy before unleashing it right onto Donkey Kong.

THOOM!!!

The blast struck right onto Donkey Kong, sending him crashing through trees and rocks before falling over a cliff.

Po stares in awe, thinking he had won, he cheers out.

Po: Awwww yeah!

However, right at that moment, something bursts out of the water, shocking Po.

Po: Uh oh.

Looming over the Dragon Warrior is Donkey Kong, now in his giant form.

Donkey Kong has become Giant Kong.

Donkey Kong looms over Po, slamming his hand down just as Po dodges by rolling over to the side.

THOOM!!!

Po then jumps up to engage only to get sent flying by a slap from Donkey Kong.

WHAM!!!

Po crashes into a boulder as Donkey Kong beats his chest in triumph.

Realising that he has no other option, Po jumps up, prompting Donkey Kong to throw a punch at him.

Po dodges and with a swing of his hand, he spreads Donkey Kong's hand open, grabbing onto his finger as he performs the Wu Xi Finger Hold.

Po then puts his finger onto Donkey Kong's giant finger as he says.

Po: Skadoosh!

THOOM!!!

Spirit Realm

Donkey Kong opens his eyes, looking around as he found himself in what looks like a Spiritual Realm.

As the giant gorilla looks around confuse, right at that moment, there was a flash of light, shocking him.

Po levitates up into the air, now trailing what looks like a construct of a dragon.

Po: Behold the Dragon Warrior!

Dragon: ROAAARRRR!!!

The dragon swoops down just as Donkey Kong clenches his fist, attempting to use his giant size to his advantage.

Donkey Kong charges up a surge of electricity before throwing a punch right at the dragon, the impact creating a massive explosion.

THOOM!!!

However, despite Donkey Kong best efforts, the dragon began flying past his fist, incinerating him.

SHOOM!!!

Donkey Kong felt his body slowly shrinks as the dragon consumes him, the powerful chi energy disintergrating him from existence.

Donkey Kong: AAAAAHHHHHH!!!

Donkey Kong lets out one final scream before a massive shockwave booms across the Spirit Realm.

THOOM!!!

With the battle over, Po returns back to the physical realm, delighted by the battle.

Po: Alright! That was awesome! I can't wait to tell Shifu about this!

KO!

<Cue: Island Song by Ashley Eriksson>

Megumi: Damn, never knew Pandas are really that strong.

Toomi: Donkey Kong held a massive physical strength advantage over Po, his punches having shown to be capable of punching something as big as the moon certainly overpowers any strength feats Po has shown.

Megumi: Though Po's durability has given him a good counter to Donkey Kong's strength as shown with his fight against Tai Lung, Po's ability to tank punishment enables him to simply use his own body mass against Donkey Kong, meaning no matter how hard Donkey Kong punches, Po can counter attack with that same level of strength

Sachi: Po also held a massive skill advantage, with his resourcefulness and his Martial Arts training giving him a big edge over Donkey Kong's straight forward punching tactics.

Toomi: While Donkey Kong certainly has a larger range of weaponary, Po has a much more variety of skills, Donkey Kong has coconuts, Po can deflect or simply eat them, Donkey Kong has barrels, Po has chi which he can fire as energy, Donkey Kong has electricity, Po can simply use the Golden Lotus Clap to blind him.

Megumi: But Donkey Kong has one big advantage over Po and I really mean Big.

Toomi: Becoming Giant Donkey Kong certainly makes the fight a whole lot of difficult for Po, considering Po hadn't really have any ways of doing the same thing but he has an overpowered technique.

Sachi: Which is the Wuxi Finger Hold.

Toomi: Once Po sends Donkey Kong into the Spirit Realm, this is where the tide of the battle has turned, with Po having the Hero's Chi.

Sachi: While Donkey Kong's feat of punching the moon is impressive, it is not only relatively small compared to our real moon but Po could clear away this giant cloud formation with just his Wuxi Finger Hold, a technique he mastered before he even knew chi existed. With chi, Po and other fighters like him have done far more insane feats.

Megumi: Like the Black Tortoise and that extinction level meteor he stopped. Something that would require, oh, just a little over 600,000 times more power than Donkey Kong's moon punching strength.

Toomi: And considering how Po can literally just enter and leave the Spirit Realm at any time also means that it's really not possible to kill Po by any means so shockingly, Donkey Kong don't have that many options to really kill Po.

Megumi: But the same can't really be said for Donkey Kong who has nothing stopping him from getting his body incinerated by Chi.

Toomi: So while DK certainly held a massive strength and arsenal advantage over Po, Po has the skills, power and the means to bring this fight to his favour.

Megumi: Looks like Po certainly made Donkey Kong go Bananas with a loss he just couldn't Bear. Po really got away with this Monkey Business

Sachi: The winner is Po

Po: Oh yeah! Who's got the moves?

Toomi: Hey guys, thank you so much for checking out our battle in What if Battles 2.

Sachi: If you want more content like this, don't forget to add this in your library and comment if you have any idea for a fight.

Megumi: Until then, next time on What if Battles...
