Toomi: Everyday, we are engaged in a neverending fight for survival. Hidden behind the scenes are agents constantly working 24/7 to stop invaders and protect the balance. We owe so much to the millions or billions of unsung heroes that are locked in an epic battle for our lives.

Megumi: And we are talking about the cells in the human body, constantly working, mostly unappreciated but yet more motivated to work to ensure our body is healthy. She's Sachi, Toomi and I'm Megumi.

Sachi: And it's our job to analyse their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle

Toomi: Germs and pathogens enter the body on a regular basis threatening to break it and ruin Frank's or Hector's lives.

Megumi: Good thing they have white blood cells, including an eccentric one called Osmosis Jones or Ozzy.

Sachi: Willing to do whatever it takes to save his host, Ozzy is one of those who tends to ignore the rulebook, disobey orders, and take matters into his own hands with reckless abandonment.

Toomi: This attitude puts him at odds with his higher-ups and even makes embarrassing problems for his host. But, hey, it gets the job done.

Sachi: Later, he gets partnered up with a cold pill named Drix, and together, they stopped many bacteria, viruses, and other foreign substances that harm the body.

Megumi: To fight those nasties, Ozzy is armed with a handgun that appears to be capable of shooting heat rays, mucus, spit, and even stomach acid. Wow! I didn't know white blood cells use that. I'M LEARNING!

Toomi: Actually, this is just a cartoon. White blood cells don't actually use those. But they do stretch like Ozzy. He can warp the shape of his elastic body to dodge attacks, get out of holds, grapple microbes, or disguise his appearance

Megumi: Also, Ozzy is a slippery one, and it's not only because his body is almost like water. He has good reflexes to dodge attacks.

When Ozzy eats Drix's Energy Booster capsule, he doesn't explode as Drix feared but instead becomes extremely energized and hyper. Like this, he moves fast enough to create afterimages while unbinding Drix, spins fast enough to make himself a tornado, and sends numerous bacteria flying

Toomi: Being a cop, and later a private investigator, Ozzy is pretty smart, and could even uncover devious plans of dangerous foes, like Thrax.

Megumi: But what we love most about Ozzy is that he is a loose cannon. He's so unpredictable in how he handles cases and even how he fights enemies.

Toomi: But his attitude also makes him reckless which causes problems. His cockiness or overconfidence gets in the way at times as well. And he does not have much physical strength. That's why he needs his stronger and more level-headed partner, Drix.

Sachi: And though Ozzy can take a beating, he is not invincible as his membrane can get pierced by anything, like a syringe bullet which was shot by a bacteria that was successful in injuring him.

Megumi: And he loses his gun, a lot.

Megumi: Still, he has thwarted the germs' evil plans and saved his host many times. Frank and Hector are lucky to have this wild card of a white blood cell.

Ozzy: You want Osmosis?

Drix: You got osmosis.

Toomi: Inside the human body, roughly 37.2 trillion cells work energetically.

Megumi: Trillions of tiny people running around in my body doing their jobs. UNTIL A GERM MONSTER SHOWS UP!

Sachi: And when they do, it is up to the white blood cells to hunt them down and kill them. In the spotlight of this manga and anime is the white blood cell, U-1146.

U-1146: This is White Blood Cell. Neutrophil Division, U-1146. The invading germ has been exterminated.

Toomi: Courageous and diligent, U-1146 is hard at work at his job. As a neutrophil, he is the first responder to pathogens and foreign substances that can harm the body. The moment he detects one, he is sure to rush over to destroy it.

Megumi: His primary weapon is a combat knife. Fun fact: the manga artist designed it after the Russian anti terror knife, aka Melita-k knife, a heavy combat blade designed for durability and high penetration power. With a single swipe, the white blood cell can cut open the germ's body and spill its blood.

Sachi: Combined with his fast dash, he could even cut through large bacteria, like an acne bacteria. And his strength enables him to cut through most membranes.

Toomi: In fact, he is strong enough to push back five influenza-infected cells. He also forced open the mouth of a large Vibrio Parahaemolyticus bacteria after cutting up its insides.

Sachi: He also carries throwing knives, which he can use with great accuracy. This is useful when an enemy is running far away from him, especially since he can only run as fast as a regular fit man.

Toomi: His running speed might not be impressive, but his reaction speed is. When a Staphylococcus Aureus threw a white blood cell's throwing knife back at high speed, U-1146 was quick enough and accurate enough to deflect it. In fact, his hand-eye coordination is so good that he could block a whole bunch of relentless attacks from a gold bacteria with just his knife.

Megumi: But that is nothing compared to the other blows he took. He tanked a large fist of a huge bacteria. He was smashed through the stone-like cell walls by a giant Acne bacteria. He even survived being grabbed by a pair of gigantic stone hands manipulated by Cancer Cell.

Toomi: That's not to say that he is all brawns and no brains. He could pick up on subtle signs that something is wrong. He noticed that something was up when a wave of bacteria aggressively attacked him. He figured out that a Pneumococcus bacteria was hide with Red Blood Cell when his receptor stopped signaling

Megumi: And while he mostly goes up and slash germs, he knows how to be sneaky. One time, he snuck up behind a speedy, evasive bacteria by swimming underwater staying hidden until the moment he grabbed one of its tentacles.

Toomi: However, neutrophils are not equipped to handle all threats. As mentioned before, there are some membranes that he could not cut, like the Pneumococcus's capsule.

Sachi: Additionally, he came close to dying when a merged Staphylococcus Aureus caught him in the body's own fibrin and wrecked havoc on him and his fellow Neutrophils.

Megumi: Which is kinda why there are other immune cells like the Macrophange, Killer T Cells and Natural Killer Cell to handle threats like these. I mean Neutrophils are only the front line soldiers.

Weakness

Neutrophils cannot handle all kinds of threats, occasionally relying on assistance from stronger immune cells

Almost died when a merged Staphylococcus Aureus caught him in the body's own fibrin

Toomi: But despite his tendency to basically kill, the White Blood Cell isn't all that heartless as he does his job to not only protect the human body but also help a certain Red Blood Cell with her work.

Sachi: It's amazing how much work your cells goes through just to keep you healthy.

Megumi: But if you are a virus that thinks you can come inside our body and make us sick, you better think twice before messing with this White Blood Cell. Yeah, I'm talking to you Corona.

White Blood Cell: Hey, that was refreshing.

<The bacteria slowly looks back, finding himself staring face to face with the White Blood Cell before getting murdered by him>

White Blood Cell: Die you goddamn germ!

Toomi: Alright, the combatants are set, let's end this debate once and for all.

Seated on an outside table of a Starbucks, Violet Evergarden finishes typing a letter for Frank as she hands him the completed letter, saying to him.

Violet: Here you are sir.

Frank: Gee thanks lady.

As Frank and Violet are busy talking, both of them are unaware that a microscopic figure is travelling out of Frank's mouth and entered into Violet's.

Inside the human body, all different kinds of cells are busy at work, doing their usual duties.

One particular Red Blood Cell, AE-3803 sighs out in exasperation as she stares at her map dejectingly.

AE-3803: Lost again?

However, her little misadventure is about to become rather eventful.

Right at that moment, something fell out of the top of the human body, crashing right in the middle of the ground floor, startling the nearby cells.

Countless normal cells and Red Blood Cells surrounds the figure as Osmosis Jones pushes himself up, questioning himself.

Osmosis Jones: Huh? Where am I?

Osmosis Jones looks at AE-3803 and he asks her.

Osmosis Jones: Uh excuse me miss but what kind of cell are you?

AE-3803: Oh, I'm a Red Blood Cell.

Osmosis Jones: Red Blood Cell huh?

Ozzy remarks out as he thinks of his girlfriend Leah Estrogen before saying to her.

Osmosis Jones: You know, you look nothing like Leah.

AE-3803: Say what kind of a cell are you?

Before Osmosis Jones could answer, right at that moment, something white bursts out of the vents, heading right towards the white blood cell.

Ozzy could barely react as his body slipped downwards, narrowingly dodging a straight cut to his face.

Osmosis Jones bounces towards a nearby post before turning around, screaming out in anger.

Osmosis Jones: Yo! What's the big idea?!

The newcomer, a tall lean figure cladded completely in white stood up, adjusting his cap as he turns around, his face full of bloodlust.

Like Ozzy, he is a White Blood Cell, a Neutrophil going by U-1146

U-1146 draws out his knife as he growls.

White Blood Cell: Your time ends here germ.

White Blood Cell launches himself forward, preparing to slice his knife right at Osmosis Jones.

Announcer: Fight!

<Cue: A.M.D.K.J by SCANDAL>

Osmosis Jones jumps up, dodging a swing from U-1146 before he points his gun, opening fire at him only to miss.

BANG!!! BANG!!!

U-1146 closes in, swinging his knife only for Ozzy to use his shapeshifting ability, shifting and morphing his body as he dodges every swing from his opponent.

Intrigued by Osmosis Jone's ability, U-1146 questions him.

White Blood Cell: What are you? Could you be a flesh-eating amoeba? I'll find out once I eat your corpse.

Osmosis Jones only widens his eyes at his remark.

Osmosis Jones: Huh? Eat? What is this? A horror film?

Osmosis Jones continues dodging swing after swing as he comments out.

Osmosis Jones: You know, I don't know what kind of sicko are you that eats cells like me but I have had it up to here with you!

Osmosis Jones then throws a punch, striking the White Blood Cell in the face.

WHAM!!!

The White Blood Cell winces as he was sent crashing back from the impact.

Spinning himself back, Osmosis Jones taunts his opponent.

Osmosis Jones: Yeah, you want some more huh?

Both Osmosis Jones and U-1146 began exchanging a flurry of cuts and punches, only for U-1146 to receive the blows.

However, as the exchange drags on, just as Osmosis Jones throws a punch, U-1146 swings his hand out, parrying the punch, shocking Ozzy momentarily as the Neutrophil swings his knife across, cutting into him.

SLASH!!!

Osmosis Jones: Ow!

Osmosis Jones widens his eyes as he backs away, only for U-1146 to swing his knife, this time cutting into his suit.

Osmosis Jones stares at his now damaged suit and he shouts at the Neutrophil with an outrage tone

Osmosis Jones: Hey! Do you know how much this suit cost?!

White Blood Cell: No. And I don't care. You wouldn't worry about the price of this suit once you're dead!

Osmosis Jones: Uh oh.

Osmosis Jones stretches his body, retreating back as U-1146 began attacking him with a ferocious flurry of swings, several of them making close calls onto Osmosis Jone's membrane.

Having no other option, Osmosis Jones grabs onto a random cell before throwing him at the White Blood Cell, forcing him to quickly catch him just as Osmosis Jones jumps down a platform, heading towards a car.

U-1146 sets the cell down before sprinting after Osmosis Jones who then began driving off.

VROOM!!!

Osmosis Jones: Hey! Yo momma is a fat cell that needs to be liposuctioned!

The Neutrophil sprints after Osmosis Jones, chasing despite not being able to keep up with the car's speed.

Osmosis Jones laughs out, turning around as he notices the White Blood Cell stopping, apparently giving up his chase.

Osmosis Jones: Ha! Knew it. That creep's just too slow!

However, right at that moment, something bursts out of the vents, landing right in front of Osmosis Jones.

THUMP!!!

Osmosis Jones: WHOA!!!

Osmosis Jones exclaims out, finding himself staring straight into the unblinking eyes of U-1146.

White Blood Cell: Die!

U-1146 plunges his knife repeatly, forcing Ozzy to dodge the attacks as he steers the wheel, attempting to maintain control of the wheel.

Soon the car began approaching the stomach, forcing Osmosis Jones and U-1146 to jump off the vehicle, causing it to fall, landing straight into the acidic liquid below.

SPLASH!!!

As the car slowly dissolves by the stomach acid, U-1146 pushes himself up, barely fazed by the entire ordeal as he raises up his knife, preparing to take on Osmosis Jones.

However, Ozzy on the other hand, had enough. No more teas'in. No more tricks. He'll just end it quick and simple with his little friend. Pulling out his handgun, Ozzy looked down the barrel

Osmosis Jones: Time for you to take your medicine.

BANG!!!

A red hot bullet shot out and flew in U-1146's direction. It traveled closer and closer while the white cell simply stood still. That sucker made things easier by being a steady target. But who could blame 'im. That white weirdo did not have the moves like Ozzy did.

However, the bullet simply flies past U-1146, not even grazing him.

Osmosis Jones: Dang! Always pulls to the right.

Osmosis Jones cursed to himself just as U-1146 charges forward, forcing Osmosis Jones to open fire at him.

BANG!!! BANG!!! BANG!!!

Each bullet continues missing as U-1146 closes in, cutting right into Osmosis Jones.

SLASH!!! SLASH!!! SLASH!!!

Osmosis Jones: YEOW!!!

Osmosis Jones screams out in agony as cytoplam leaks from his wound.

Running away, Osmosis Jones attempts to keep himself away from the persuing White Blood Cell as dashes through the capillary, pushing past any passing Red Blood Cells as he makes his way towards the exit of the human body.

As he continues to run, right at that moment, something struck onto a capillary wall just inches from Ozzy's face, startling him.

Osmosis Jones turns, finding himself staring right at U-1146, stretching his hand out as he attempts to punch the White Blood Cell, only for the Neutrophil to slice his hand off with a single cut.

SLASH!!!

Osmosis Jones: AAAAHHHHHH!!!

Osmosis Jones screams out in agony just as U-1146 throws a kick, sending him flying.

WHAM!!!

Osmosis Jones then ends up in the naval cavity as he pulls out his gun, pointing it at U-1146 as he warns him.

Osmosis Jones: Stay back! I'm warning you!

White Blood Cell: Give up! There's nowhere for you to run!

Osmosis Jones: Like hell I will!

BANG!!!

Osmosis Jones opens fire to which U-1146 raises up his knife, deflecting the bullet.

CLANG!!!

The bullet bounces off the metal tip of the knife, heading towards the sneeze button before hitting it.

At that moment, a large gust of wind began blowing, sending both Osmosis Jones and U-1146 flying.

Osmosis Jones: WHOOOOAAAA!!!

Osmosis Jones screams out, flying as he notices the opening in front of him.

Osmosis Jones: At last! Finally free!

Osmosis Jones cheers out, only for his celebration to be cut short by a stabbing sound.

SHOK!!!

Osmosis Jones widens his eyes in shock, pain filling from the top of his head as he found himself staring at a knife with it's blade plunged right into it.

Leaking cytoplasm, Osmosis Jones' entire body went limp as he flies out of Violet's nose.

Outside

Violet: Ah choo!

Violet sneezes out, wiping her nose as she unknowingly sneezed out the now dead Osmosis Jones.

Human body

With his opponent gone, U-1146 lets go of the nasal cavity, landing feet first as he adjusts his cap, declaring out.

White Blood Cell: Bacteria eliminated!

Red Blood Cell: White Blood Cell!

U-1146 turns, notcing AE-3803 running up towards him, waving.

U-1146 smiles at AE-3803, listening as the Red Blood Cell congratulates him as the Cells at Work credits song began playing.

Megumi: Oh my God, I never knew such an intense fights like these happen in our bodies everyday. Does Violet knows?

Toomi: Don't tell her. Anyway, Ozzy was definitely the most elusive opponent U-1146 has ever faced. The combination of Ozzy's stretch ability and the car gave the blue cop lots of evasive power.

Sachi: While that certainly enables him to dodge most of U-1146's attacks, dodging alone doesn't really win battles.

Megumi: And that was Ozzy's problem. He did not have much ways to kill U-1146. In "Cells at Work," the white neutrophil took blows from germs far stronger than Ozzy. He even survived being smashed through a wall by a humongous acne bacteria that's about 100 times his size

Toomi: Ozzy might have had a chance by using his gun, with a correct aim, he could have hit U-1146 in the head and actually win. That is...if he could actually hit him.

Megumi: With an aim like that, yeah, totally doubt it.

Sachi: Not only that, but U-1146 is good at blocking even speedy projectiles with his knives. So, the few bullets that would come at him would just get deflected.

Megumi: Besides, in the cartoon, Ozzy's usual method of taking down his opponents was to trick them, use stuff in the body to knock out the enemy, or drop them to their doom.

Toomi: While there was a possibility Ozzy could have won through trickery, that would not be easy. U-1146 is perceptive. Also, he is agile and could jump long distances to escape. And dropping him out of the body might not work because he can use both his knives and L-Selectin to grip the body tissue.

Megumi: But how could U-1146 win if he could not hit Ozzy?

Toomi: Though difficult, U-1146 actually has a chance of striking Ozzy. Though he is stretchy, Ozzy did not dodge all attacks. He got punched, kicked, squashed, and even grabbed several times. So, there was a significant chance for Ozzy to get sliced if he stayed too close to the white neutrophil. And that chance is even greater if U-1146 sneaks up on Ozzy like when U-1146 caught an elusive bacteria in the "Heatstroke" episode.

Sachi: In fact, U-1146 has experience fighting a cell that could morph, stretch, and attack from afar: Cancer cell. When you think about it, Cancer cell is stronger than Ozzy, and Cancer's ability to produce many wavy, grabby arms poses more of a challenge.

Toomi: While Osmosis Jone's stretching ability does make this a challenging fight, U-1146's strength, skills, combat experience and having taken down enemies far stronger than Ozzy himself gives him the victory of this fight.

Megumi: Looks like White Blood Cell has a much better cell-ing point than Osmosis Jones.

Sachi: The winner is U-1146
