Luz Noceda vs Dipper Pines
The Owl House vs Gravity Falls, two children who unlocked the secrets of the world by accident stumbles into a battle of magic, monsters and mystery in the first battle of the year.
<Cue: Invader Theme>
Toomi: Luz Noceda, the boiling isles very first human witch apprentice
Megumi: And Dipper Pines, the kid-detective of gravity falls
Toomi: Magic, monsters, adventure, there are many secrets in the world that can only be open up by someone whose really willing to find them. many stories go like this, but in 2 of these stories, a lot of similarites can be found, but there is a main similarity, and that's...
Megumi: 2 main demons who are thirsty for power and are voiced by Alex Hirsh?
Toomi: W...well that two. But what i'm talking about is that the two people to unlock these secrets were just kids who found these secrets on accident, until they became something stronger and more powerful.
Megumi: She's Sachi, Toomi and I'm Megumi.
Sachi: And it's our job to analyse their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle.
Luz Glyphs into What if Battles
<Cue: Bedspell by Zolita>
Toomi: Luz Noceda is what a typical school geek is like, outgoing, friendly, lonely and a wild imagination.
Megumi: A wild imagination that ends up having her mother sending her to summer camp just to make her 'normal'. Heh. Parents.
Sachi: As Luz is attempting to reclaim her Azura book, her book was stolen by an owl who she then chased before finding herself in a strange magical world known as the Boiling Isle.
Toomi: And it was when she realise that the owl belongs to a powerful witch going by the name Eda Clawthorne
Eda: Eat you? Why would I eat...a potential customer?
Toomi: Eda wasn't the only one she met. Luz also met King, a demon who lives with Eda as both her surrogate son and roommate along with some weird owl worm thingy name Hooty before they went on an adventure.
Megumi: Eventually, Luz went to a school similar to Hogwarts where she met two students Willow and Gus, initially pretending to be Willow's abomination until the popular girl Amity attempts to dissect her to expose her.
Sachi: But despite that, Luz was interested in learning magic to which Eda not only taught her her own style but allowed her to study in Hexcide to master her ability.
Toomi: However, being a human, Luz lacks the biological ability to perform magic the same way with her hands so she makes magic out of glyph magic.
Megumi: Uh what is glyph magic Toomi? Not asking for a friend here.
Toomi: Glyph magic is the creation of spell Circle is the most common form of magic utilization among witches on the Boiling Isles. This spell is the conduit to accessing all known spells. To create a spell circle, a witch simply needs to draw a glowing circle in the air, from which the desired spell is cast. The size of the circle drawn determines the power of the spell; the larger the spell circle, the more powerful the spell. The circle can be drawn with a fingertip, a sweeping gesture of the hands, a tracing motion with the feet, a training wand, or the end of a witch's staff.
Sachi: For Luz's case, the glyph magic she knows is light, when cast it generates a floating sphere of light. The intensity of the spell can be changed depending on the size of the glyph/spell circle. The light spell is considered a basic spell that can be cast at a very young age.
Megumi: She can also create ice glyphs where she can create an ice pillar capable of catapulting people into the air and blocking attacks. She can also infuse weapons with the ice glyph to repel multiple enemies at once.
Luz Noceda
Glyph magic
Light Glyph
Ice Glyph
Fire Glyph
Plant Glyph
Invisibility
Bilingualism
Weapon proficiency
Magic durability
Cloak
Skilled artist
Skilled Dancer
Toomi: She can also create plant glyphs which she can summon large pillars of vines with thorns.
Sachi: And she can create fire glyphs which she can create a ball of fire and set items aflame. She can use it to melt objects by simply activating the glyph near it without having to attach it to the object itself.
Toomi: But using those glyphs alone isn't all Luz can do. In fact, by attaching a spell glyph to an object and tapping the glyph or striking with the object, Luz can enchant that object with the spell. She has some control of how long it takes for a spell to trigger, giving her time to get out of range of certain spells like flames. In her clash with Emperor Belos, Luz demonstrated the ability to activate glyphs remotely by tapping Eda's staff, which activated three Fire Spell glyphs she'd left on the portal, burning it to prevent Belos from using it.
Megumi: And she can even turn herself invisible with it!
Toomi: Luz is extremely gifted in magic, gifted to the point she has even bested enemies larger and stronger than she is.
Sachi: Thats right, she has survived being launched from the knee of the titan to the owl house in seconds and tanked a hit from the sky scraper sized worm during her fight with Belos, Both of these feats could equal to around small building to town level which is very impressive.
Megumi: And the fact that she even survived detention.
Sachi: Survive detention?
Megumi: Yeah, it is a feat when detention involves trying to survive a large monster.
Feats
Completely incinerated one of the Emperor's beasts
Able to go forward like a blowtorch's flame
Able to spawn two small fire pillars at the same time
A tiny spark was able to make a massive explosion
Incinerated a tunnel path through a large thicket
2 Tons of TNT approxiamately!
Survived Demon Detention and destroyed a giant door along with Gus
Physically harmed Warden Wrath, who got blasted through a stone wall
Took out several of Emperor Belos' trained guards
Outsmarted the Owl Beast and Emperor Belos
Was able to put sticky notes with plant glyphs on an abomination while upside down in the matter of 2 seconds
Was able to pick up Amity Blight, a girl that seems to be of the same height and weight of Luz, without noticeable struggle
Was able to survive a technologically advanced abomination robot
Was able to trick the golden guard, one of the emperors covens greatest witches, into leaving her and her family alone
Was able to break the mask of Emperor Belos, the most powerful witch of the boiling isles
Toomi: Even though luz has powerful glyphs and owl lady's palisman that can even take down creatures and witches above her class, she is still human and relies on those glyphs and owlbert to get the job done without those glyphs, she's powerless, sure she's resourceful but not to the extent with her glyphs.
Sachi: Not to mention she lacks completely in strength, due to her weak nerd arms, she can't really pull down a prison level
Luz: Nooooo, my weak nerd arms!
Megumi: But I call bs on that since she can somehow carry Amity without any problems.
Weakness
Since she doesn't have an organic bile sac, she has to draw glyphs to use magic, which may be a problem if she has to fight unexpectedly, or if she gets separated from them.
Invisibility spell can only work when the user holds their breath
Luz isn't the most physically strongest as she was not able to pull up a lever due to her, as she says "weak nerd arms"
While noticeably smart, her excitement leaves her to go into problems without thinking things through
Toomi: And though she is smart, there are times Luz hasn't really think things through, which is a big problem as she solves one problem, she ends up with another as pointed out by The Golden Guard while trying to save the palismans.
Sachi: And Luz's weirdness has left her an outcast in the human realm to her principal, peers and even her own mother.
Megumi: But that doesn't stop luz from trying to return to her home and one day with the help with her boiling isle family and friends she'll find a way return home.
Luz: I may have lost, but so have you.
Dipper Pines discovers What if Battles
<Cue: It's Gonna Be Me by NSYNC>
Toomi: Dipper was born on August 31, 1999, five minutes after Mabel where he lives in Piedmont, California.
Megumi: Why is he called Dipper though?
Toomi: It may have something to do with his birthmark which his friends nicknamed him by it.
<Shows footages of Dipper showing his birthmark to Wendy>
Megumi: Whoa. Gotta admit it looks pretty cool though.
Sachi: But when summer started, both Dipper and Mabel were sent to Gravity Falls to help out their Grunkle Stan at his shop. And it was going to be a long boring summer until Dipper started to notice strange happenings in the town.
Megumi: And long story short, he saved his sister from a bunch of gnomes, helped her deal with a yandere named Gideon whom also has a giant robot, team up with Soos to find a lake monster and lots and lots of pretty weird stuff. I think he even cloned himself.
Toomi: It turns out that the Town Gravity falls was a place that held up so many different types of Weirdness all thanks to a Space ship smashing and being buried under the grounds of Gravity falls but lucky for everyone else the Weirdness couldn't escape the town due to a sort of Barrier of Weirdness Magnetism which blocked it all
Megumi: And it was during this summer trip that Dipper met the most dangerous Entity ever Bill Cipher who wanted to spread his weirdness across the Universe and make this Dimension his own
Sachi: But along with his Sister, Grunkle Stan and the Author of the Journal Ford they were able to vanish and Destroy Bill Cipher and at the end of this all Dipper and Mabel Pines left back to California
Toomi: Though despite being just a regular kid, Dipper has gained many weapons which he uses to fight the various entities, like a golf cart he used to outrace an army gnomes, spears for well throwing an a grappling hook to scale up walls.
Megumi: But lets move onto some of the better stuff such as a Magnet Gun and well it does what you expect it is a Magnet Gun but he also has a Fat Laser Gun. But his most Unique Weapons are his Memory Gun and Height Altering Crystal
Toomi: The Memory Gun is a Gun which shoots out a bolt that can easily wipe someone Memories but this wont really work if they have a Metal Plate inside their Head
Sachi: And there is his Height Altering Crystal where he can easily change either his or other people sizes with the Blue side of the Crystal growing people while the Pink side shrinks people. And yes, this can also be used on Body parts such as the Arm, Leg, Head or entire body
Dipper Pines
Great Intelligence
Great Strength for his age
Durability
Above Average Speed
Magnet Gun
Journal 3
Battle Cuffs
Height Altering Crystal
Spear
Memory Gun
Fat Laser Gun
Grappling Hook
Golf Cart
Toomi: But weapons isn't the only thing Dipper can use in his disposal. His greatest attribute is his intelligence. Having been deemed as the smarter among the twins, Dipper has been able to uncover the secrets of the town no one knew of, played chess with Mabel and did not lose a single round and he even outwit a wax version of Sherlock Holmes.
Sachi: And just to note, Sherlock Holmes is not known as the world's greatest detective for nothing. He has an IQ at 190, which places him much, much higher than anyone in the world. The same IQ that has helped him solved cases like The Engineer's Thumb, The Noble Bachelor, The Crooked Man, The Resident Patient, The Greek Interpreter, The Naval Treaty, and The Final Problem.
Megumi: And also be able to determine pretty much everything a person is by key observation without the latter telling him anything.
Sachi: And he can also do complex math and algebra equations on the window
Toomi: Dipper is also pretty tough, having survived a fight against a street fighter based character despite his lack of strength, combat skills and powers.
<Shows footages of Rumble using his final attack on Dipper, beating him though Dipper survived.>
Megumi: Damn! Talk about taking way too many blows in the head!
Feats
Out witted a wax version of Sherlock Holmes
Saved Wendy and her friends from vengeful ghosts
Trained under the Manotaurs and defeated the Multi-Bear in combat
Survived a beating from Rumble McSkirmish
Managed to capture/subdue a Gremloblin for the Mystery Shack
Journeyed with his family to save Waddles from a Pterodactyl
Managed to fight off Bill Cipher in Stan's mindscape
Rescued his sister from Gideon (who was in a giant robot)
Helped to outsmart and capture a shapeshifter
Help to find, fend off, and disband the "Blind Eye Society
Together with Mabel, defeated Blendin in the futuristic combat games of "Globnar" and gained a "Time Wish"
Saved Grunkle Ford from being carried off into space by an alien craft
Helped free Mabel from Bill Cipher's prison bubble
Assisted in bringing down Bill Cipher once and for all
Retrieved the four elemental Gnome Gemulets and defeated the evil spirit Gremularth (Legend of the Gnome Gemulets)
Fought through hoards of enemies in a video game version of Gravity Falls to eventually have a show down with/rematch with Rumble McSkirmish (Rumble's Revenge)
Went on adventures through different time lines along with Mabel and Blendin Blandin until they defeated the time pirates and obtained their treasure (Dipper and Mabel and the curse of the pirate's treasure)
Toomi: But Dipper's most impressive feat was he managed to fight off Bill Cipher in Stan's Mindscape, which is impressive considering that Bill Cipher is a powerful reality warping demon with Godlike powers.
Megumi: And he even completed most of the training from the Manotaurs, the most manliest beings in the universe!
Toomi: Although he holds all this Greatness under his Belt Dipper Pines is still a 13 year old Child and is one who doesn't really have much Experience with the Supernatural as he only stayed in Gravity Falls for 3 Months
Sachi: Not to mention, he is also very weak as when he attempted to fight Rumble, his punches are so weak to the point it barely even scratched the video game character.
<Shows footages of Dipper performing a "powerful" uppercut on Rumble, only for the blow to drain a miniscule amount of Rumble's health>
Megumi: Damn, the fact he survived that is incredible enough!
Weakness
When unarmed, his punches are extremely weak
Despite his endurance, he's still a mortal child
Can be very reckless and stubborn at times
Can have a short temperament at times
Size altering crystal can be used against him
When dealing with the super natural, he can rely too much on the journal for answers/solutions (Which it doesn't always contain)
Can panic if things go awry leaving him slightly less rationally (Though he can snap out of it)
If zombies are summoned, things will go from bad to worse
If he gets desperate enough, he can make bad decisions
Toomi: But Dipper's biggest flaw is that he is too reliant on his journal for information which is not helpful as the information within the book does not contain every solution or answer to supernatural beings or powers that it did not record.
Sachi: And he tends to make bad decisions if he gets desperate.
Megumi: But even though he is a 13 year old, there's no denying that he has gone through a lot and yet Dipper has been able to overcome some of the most insane obstacles a kid like him will ever face
Dipper: Well uh...that concludes Dipper's Guide to the Unexplained. Where we learn that when dealing with the unknown, not mail videos of you shoving gummy worms up your nose!
Mabel: There's more from where that came from! Into my nose! Into my nose!
Dipper: No! Show over! Show over!
Toomi: Alright, the combatants are set, let's end this debate once and for all.
Sachi: Don't forget to vote, comment what you think of the fight.
Megumi: Yeah, but right now, it's time for a Death Battle!
Fight
Forest
<Cue: Escape by K-391>
Inside the dark forest, Dipper stares at his book as he says to himself.
Dipper: Hm. According to this book, this door to another world should be right about...
Dipper looks up from his book, staring at a strange looking door standing in the middle of nowhere before completing his sentence.
Dipper: There.
Dipper grabs the door handle before opening it up, looking through the insides only to find himself staring at something unusual.
He found himself stumbling through a tent full of junk, actual human junk.
Dipper: Huh? Where am I?
Dipper steps in before picking up a book, looking at it as he reads out.
Dipper: The Good Witch Azura? Huh. How come I never seen this book around?
As Dipper closes the door behind him, just then, a girl enters the tent, calling out.
Luz: Alright Eda, just gotta get my book and...
Luz immediately freezes upon laying eyes on Dipper, noticing him holding onto her The Good Witch Azura book before shouting out.
Luz: Hey! That's mine!
Dipper looks left and right frantically before blurting out.
Dipper: Um. Uh. It's...it's not what it looks like!
Luz creates a light glyph out of a drawing from her note pad before throwing it at Dipper, causing the boy to scream in fear.
Dipper: YAAAAHHHHH!!!
Dipper dodges the glyph, causing it to explode upon hitting a nearby box.
BOOM!!!
As Dipper watches Luz create another light glyph, he takes out his journal, frantically flip through the pages as he cries out.
Dipper: Magic? The journal has nothing about this kind of magic!
Luz: Come back here!
Dipper: Oh no!
Dipper quickly runs towards the exit just as Luz gives chase.
Outside
Outside of the tent, Eda heard the sound of screaming before she asks Luz.
Eda: Hey Luz are you okay in there? I heard some screaming?
Right at that moment, Dipper burst out of the tent, shocking the Owl lady.
Eda: Whoa.
Eda watches Luz sprints out, chasing after Dipper.
<Cue: New Day by Ms.Ooja>
Both Luz and Dipper stops in the middle of Bonesborough as Dipper declares out.
Dipper: You know, I'm tired of running. Let's do this.
Dipper then began clenching his fist, rolling them over as Luz prepares her glyph spells.
Announcer: Fight!
Dipper sprints forward, just as Luz throws her glyph spells at him, causing the boy to dodge her attacks.
THOOM!!! THOOM!!! THOOM!!!
Dipper then pulls out his height altering ray just as Luz uses her ice glyph, creating a large ice wall only for Dipper to open fire.
PIU!!!
Upon impact, the height altering ray instantly shrinks the ice wall, turning what was once a ice barrier into an ice cube.
Luz: Hey!
Luz shouts out in annoyance as she clenches her fist, preparing to throw a punch, screaming out.
Luz: YAAHHHHH!!!
Dipper clenches his fist as he throws a punch at Luz as well, screaming out at the same time.
Dipper: AAAHHHHH!!!
POW!!!
Both Luz and Dipper's fists collides into each other before the two immediately recoils back, clutching their hands as they cry out in pain.
Luz: YEOW!!! My weak nerd arms!
Dipper: Ow! Look at my noodle arms!
Both Luz and Dipper growls out in anger as Dipper throws a powerful uppercut, sending Luz flying.
POW!!!
Luz: AHHHHH!!!
Luz screams out in agony as she was sent crashing into a stall.
CRASH!!!
Dipper then picks up his grappling hook, shooting it at a cart before pulling himself towards it.
At the same time, Luz pushes herself up, groaning in pain as she looks up, seeing Dipper driving the golf cart straight towards her.
VROOM!!!
Luz pulls out a glyph, placing it on the floor as she conjures out a large vine, sending it flying towards Dipper.
Dipper: Uh oh.
Dipper says just as the large vine struck onto the cart, sending the boy flying.
CRASH!!!
Dipper: YAAAHHHH!!!
As Dipper is sent flying upwards, Luz rode on her Owl Staff, flying as she strikes into Dipper.
WHAM!!!
Dipper: ARGHHHHH!!!
Luz then turns around, flying straight towards Dipper as she prepares to attack.
However, right at that moment, Dipper took out his Magnet Gun, activating it to attract a metal armor before shooting it right at Luz, striking onto her.
CLANG!!!
Luz: OOOOWWWW!!!
Luz screams out in pain as she drops onto the floor.
Dipper then takes out a spear, raising it up as he declares out to Luz.
Dipper: It's over for you!
However, the fight is still far from over.
Right at that moment, Luz pulls out several trinkets within her pocket before tossing them right onto Dipper, shocking him.
Dipper: Ah! Junk!
As Dipper swipes them away, he turns his attention back to Luz only to realise, that the girl is nowhere to be seen.
Dipper: Huh? Where she go?
Right at that moment, Dipper steps on a piece of paper with a glyph drawn on it, setting it off as the glyph went off in an explosion.
KABOOM!!!
Dipper: ARGHHHHH!!!
Dipper screams out as he crashes into a roll of barrels.
CRASH!!!
As Dipper groans in agony, he heard a familiar voice shouting.
Luz: Looking for me?
Dipper turns, only to see Luz suddenly reappear in front of him before swinging her staff out, slapping him across the face.
WHAM!!!
Dipper recoils in pain as Luz throws several light glyphs at him, causing them to explode upon impact.
BOOM!!! BOOM!!! BOOM!!!
Dipper: YEOOOW!!!
As Dipper drops down onto the floor, Luz points the Owl Staff at Dipper, magic fire emitting from the flames as she screams out.
Luz: It's over for you!
THOOM!!!
Luz then fires a powerful blast of fire at Dipper, whom the latter stood up, spread his arms out in a way to accept his fate as the blast strikes onto him.
THOOM!!!
Dipper: AAAAHHHHH!!!
Dipper screams out in agony as he felt his body incinerates into nothingness before going off in a massive explosion.
KABOOM!!!
As the fires slowly dies down, Luz lowers her staff down as she exhales out.
Luz: Whew! What a workout.
Just then, Luz heard Eda say to her.
Eda: Hey kid.
Luz turns just as Eda points to the direction of the tent, saying to her.
Eda: You know, the kid found another door to the human realm back in that tent. If you want, you can go back to the human world.
Luz thought for a while before she says.
Luz: Hm. You know what, I think I might.
Eda then leads Luz back to the tent where the witch shows the girl the door to which she grabs the handle before pulling it open, revealing a path towards a town.
Luz notices the words spray painted on the water tank and she reads it out.
Luz: Gravity Falls? How come I never heard of that place?
Eda looks at the words and she says.
Eda: Gravity Falls? I remembered meeting an ex who told me he owns a shack in a place with that name. Huh, curious. Anyway, in you go kid.
<Cue: Let's B Goblins>
The door opens as Luz steps out of the Boiling Isle, walking back into the human realm.
She looks around before remarking out.
Luz: Whoa. Looks like I found my way back. Man, I should have thanked him
As Luz steps into the human world, she looks up in the sky in intrigue as she notices Power Girl flying past her.
Luz then wonders to herself.
Luz: A superhero? What did I missed?
KO!
<Cue: New Earth by Bruce Falconer>
Megumi: Whoo! Nothing like a couple of kids beating each other to death to kickstart the year!
Toomi: Dipper's great intelligence may give him the edge in this fight against Luz but however, his lack of any powers of any kind is what gives him the loss.
Sachi: With Luz's Glyph magic, it gives her the resources she needs in her fight which is not only far more destructive than a height altering crystal or a magnet gun, but the fact that Dipper lacking any powers of his own makes the fight tougher for him.
Megumi: But Sachi, didn't Dipper managed to hurt Bill Cipher? Wouldn't that means he scales to him and therefore, should have beaten Luz?
Toomi: That I can answer. While Dipper's intelligence does enable him to figure out Bill's weak spot and hurt him, he however has never actually defeated Bill Cipher in a one of one fight. Now keep in mind that fighting someone alone does not scale you to that person. Especially when Dipper mostly assists his friends in their fight against Bill, you can't exactly say he scales to him.
Sachi: What's more, Dipper has lost fights against people weaker than Bill. Like how he lost a fight against Rumble, got beaten up by his own clones who possess the same strength as him and has even shown fear fighting a teenager.
Megumi: While Luz on the other hand has a very consistent win loss record, as shown where before she received any training, she can already take down an abomination with one punch. She held her own against the Blight family's mechs, defeated Grom, survived and defeated monsters several times her size and actually injured Emperor Belos things which Dipper, though might be able to do the same, will usually require assistance to do so.
Toomi: And while there is no denying that Dipper is very intelligent, Dipper has the tendency to lose focus if things don't go according to plan in which in this case, all logical reasonings will be thrown out of the window as Dipper not only has no counter to Luz's invisibility spell or her glyphs but since The Boiling Isle does not exist in his own show, his overreliance of his journal for answer to glyph magic would be his downfall.
Megumi: Yeah. In a context of battle, not every battle is won by research alone.
Toomi: Having the advantage in raw power and speed, Luz has what it takes to counter Dipper's intelligence and resourcefulness to claim the winning title of this match.
Megumi: Looks like Dipper is the Luz-zer in this fight.
Sachi: The winner is Luz Noceda.
Luz: I won't lie. Today was kinda hard. And I don't always feel like I'm supposed to be here. But when things get tough, my friends help me out. I think you'd like them. Te extraño también, Mami. One day, I'll tell you all about this.
Toomi: Hey guys, thank you so much for checking out our battle in What if Battles 2.
Sachi: If you want more content like this, don't forget to add this in your library and comment if you have any idea for a fight.
Megumi: Until then, next time on What if Battles....
