Black Lightning vs Storm

DC Comics vs Marvel, Lightning vs Lightning, Principal vs Queen, Meta-Human vs Mutant, Justice League vs X-Men, when two African superheroes with weather manipulation blasts off against each other, only one can shock and blow the other away in one of the three final battles of the year.

<Cue: Invader Theme>

Toomi: Black Lightning, the electric member of the Outsiders,

Megumi: And Storm, the X-Men's goddess of the... storms... weather.

Toomi: In the world of comics, there are those that are often times discriminated and oppressed and there are those who would fight to defend the rights of their own people.

Megumi: And to do that, these two can control electricity. She's Sachi, Toomi and I'm Megumi.

Sachi: And it's our job to analyse their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win a What if Battle

Black Lightning lights up What if Battles

<Cue: Lightning by The Afters>

Toomi: In a neglected part of Metropolis , there is a place called Suicide Slum

Megumi: Why's it called Suicide Slum you ask? Well that's because it was believed the only to escape the slum was to kill yourself... Great!

Toomi: Until one day, Jefferson Pierce's father was killed during a mob hit which ended up turning life upside down for both him and his now widowed mother.

Sachi: That is until an Italian tailor named Peter Gambi started helping Jefferson and his mother with financial difficulties where the boy grows up seeing Gambi as a fatherly figure.

Toomi: As Jeff grew up he pushed himslef in his studies and athletics, and he had an aptitude in English and poetry and even wrote in one poem: "Justice, like lightning, should ever appear to some men hope, to other men fear"

Sachi: And at the ripe old age of 18, he was picked to represent America at the Olympics

Megumi: Anyway after winning some medals and attention, he received an English major and teaching degree at college, went to the Olympics a second time and won gold in decathlon, got freaky with a woman called Lynn Stewart and had a daughter

Sachi: But the marriage didn't last long and Jeff and Lynn divorced so he went back to Metropolis

Toomi: Upon returning he found Suicide Slum still in its pathetic state and decided to make a difference after a criminal organization called The 100 killed one of his students after Jeff got in the way of one of their plans

Megumi: Given a blue costume by his father figure Gambi and equipped with a force-field belt that enables him to generate lightning bolts, he became one of the first black (stereotypical) heroes in comics, he became Black Lightning

Rapper: LAST NIGHT I SEEN A SUPERHERO AND HE WAS BLACK, HE SAID THIS IS FOR THE STREETS BLACK LIGHTNING'S BACK!!

Toomi: As his name suggests, Black Lightning has the power to generate raw electricity which courses through his body and he can manipulate and control it

Sachi: He also has Electromagnetism which enables him to sort of control metal with his mind, this evidenced with the time he stopped a bunch of thugs by flipping their car with his mind and ripping it in two with little to no effort

Megumi: He can also throw...Black Lightning... seriously?

Toomi: Ok look I know it sounds weird but there's actually a difference you see, normal electricity has to follow the law of physics. it can't come out of nowhere as it travels through things like insulation. Black lightning is based on magic so it doesn't follow any of the rules so he can make it at any time and it gives him an edge against magic-based powers.

Megumi: He can also teleport, create force fields that can stop bullets, block explosions, energy blasts, grenades, bombs and physical attacks, he can also turn himself into literal lightning!

Sachi: In this electric form he is completely invulnerable to physical attacks and can I stay in the form as long as wants. With his he can go through conditions that would normally kill him, even able to survive the vacuum of space

Megumi: He has taken down Tobias Whale, a kingpin in his home town, gained a partnership with Superman and Batman and even became one of the members of the Justice League.

Toomi: He can sense electrical fields, stop a speeding car by holding out his hand, can travel at the speed of lightning or on his bolts, the speed of sound, dodge bullets, see the world at incredibly slow speeds and with his genius level intellect he is able to strategize plans on the go and also the angrier he gets, the stronger he gets

Megumi: What, like The Hulk? Damn, Black Lightning is more OP than I thought!!

Toomi: Even though he does seem that way his win-loss record is pretty spotty having lost to Batman, Deathstroke, Lex Luthor, Amazo and a few others who can outthink him and just had more raw power

Weakness

Large amounts of water can counter his electricity.

Lost to Batman, Deathstroke, Lex Luthor, Amazo and Superman

Sachi: Not to mention that despite water being a good conductor of electricity, it can neutralise his electrical powers

Megumi: But who cares? Last night I saw a superhero and he was black. He said this is for the street, Black Lightning's back.

Black Lightning: You know what I was thinking? You ain't too tough without those extra powers!

Storm Electrifies What if Battles

<Cue: Praise You In This Storm by Natalie Grant>

Toomi: Our world, the Earth, is ever changing. Winds howl across the land. Water rises and falls from the atmosphere. Lightning cracks the sky. Ever since planets existed, they have been shaped by the weather.

Megumi: And if you're ever given the power to manage the weather to your own liking, please use it responsibly. For not only have you become the embodiment of nature and history, but you can seriously screw things up for the rest of us who just want to barbeque.

Toomi: Ororo Munroe was born from a family of tribal Kenyan royalty, the daughter of princess N'Dare Munroe, descendant of a line of magic priestesses, and David Munroe, American photographer. Although born in Manhattan, an early move back to Africa resulted in Ororo spending most of her life in the third world, out of touch with modernization.

Sachi: On her own at the age of six, Ororo was forced to learn to survive on the streets. She quickly developed skills in stealth and theft, allowing her to become a key member of a gang led by a telepathic mutant. Unfortunately, after trying to steal from one Charles Xavier, she was forced to go on the run.

Megumi: And running she went, pulling a Simba and fleeing into the savannah with recless abandon. Heading further and further across the Sahara desert, remember she left Cairo, she nearly died from exhaustion and lack of water.

Sachi: And that's when she began to master her mutant powers. In the same way that Homo sapiens, humans, evolve from earlier hominids

Toomi: Homo superior, or mutants, are an offshoot of regular humans. They possess the X-Gene on their 23rd chromosome that effectively grants them superpowers.

Megumi: But it's a lottery. You could end up like ol' Beak here.

Toomi: Or you could end up like Ororo and possess complete control over the weather itself, while being super hot, unlike Beak.

Megumi: For all she knew, she was a goddess sent straight from heaven, and that's exactly what the local tribes thought when she arrived in her ancestral Kenyan homeland.

Sachi: Ororo's mutant gene allows her to psionically manipulate the atmosphere, capable of summoning a hurricane with less than a conscious thought. When she does feel like using conscious thoughts, Ororo can create storms that cover the entire Earth.

Toomi: Her weather manipulation isn't just powerful, but precise. She can call upon massive tidal waves, conceal herself in fog, and even generate localized blizzards cold enough to freeze lava.

Megumi: But her favorite element is probably wind. With it, she can blow people away with tornadoes, suck the air out of a person's lungs, and generate enough lift to fly. She once flew fast enough to reach the edge of Earth's atmosphere from ground level in just a few seconds.

Toomi: By measuring the angle and size of the Earth to get the distance, and estimating a time frame of about five seconds, Ororo had to have flown at 4,000 times the speed of sound. She can even manipulate solar winds to fly through space. Unlike winds on Earth, which are just the movement of air molecules through the atmosphere, solar winds are streams of charged particles, mostly electrons and protons, ejected from the sun.

Megumi: Almost as crazy as how she can breathe in the vacuum of space! She creates a mini-atmosphere around herself by gathering, um, stray hydrogen atoms. Atoms, those are like, really small, last time I checked. Are these writers just giving her whatever powers they want now? How is that weather?

Sachi: Ororo's abilities apply to any atmospheric conditions, whether they be in outer space or alternate dimensions.

Toomi: Ororo enjoyed all the worship and admiration until the day she was contacted by an American, Charles Xavier, with an interesting proposal.

Megumi: Join the X-Men! Oh, pretty please? They were eaten by this living island; it's a long story, but we're short staffed.

Sachi: Xavier founded the X-Men as a team of mutant superheroes that would attempt to mend race relations between Homo sapien and superior through non-violent means.

Megumi: Because what better way to teach kids in the Sixties about the Civil Rights movement than with a bunch of good lookin', lilly white teenagers with superpowers from upstate New York?

Toomi: Feeling she had spent enough time blessing the rains down in Africa, Ororo agreed, and was assigned the codename Storm.

Megumi: And she more than earned the spot. She's proven herself worthy to wield Mjolnir, led a war against the Inhumans, and even survived a blast from her own lightning.

Toomi: This is impressive, considering her lightning is powerful enough to match Polaris, who once used her powers to punch through Earth's crust, all the way to the planet's core. Assuming she pulverized a cylinder of earth all the way down, she had to have exerted over 15 teratons of TNT.

Sachi: But Storm has been able to create jovian atmospheric pressure, tornadoes extending to the upper atmosphere, can super heat plasma, bested Callisto in hand-to-hand combat despite not being as strong as he is.

Megumi: And after kicking Callisto's ass, she became the queen of these sewer dwelling mutants called the Morlocks. She really just couldn't escape being worshipped, could she? Even by grody, underground monster people.

Toomi: But what makes Storm really powerful is that she is an omega level mutant, a mutant with no foreseeable limits and can generate lightning powerful enough to hurt beings like The Hulk or Silver Surfer

Megumi: With all of her strength, Storm might just be the strongest member of the X-Men.

Toomi: But Storm's ability to manipulate the weather is affected by her emotions, being capable of inducing destructive storms if she is unable to control her anger.

Megumi: But even demigods have their Achilles' heels. That plane crash from her childhood left her crushed under rubble for days, giving her a bad case of claustrophobia that rears its ugly head every once in a while.

Weakness

Severe claustrophobia

Emotional Influence

Naturally Occurring Limitations

Sachi: She may be an Omega Level mutant, but her greatest superpower is her bottomless compassion.

Megumi: Mess with her team, and you'll watch as Ororo's heart of gold quickly turns to ice, as she quite literally steals your breath away.

Storm: You want my powers Hungan? Here's more than you can handle!

Toomi: Alright, the combatants are set, let's end this debate once and for all.

Sachi: Don't forget to vote, comment what you think of the fight.

Megumi: Yeah, but right now, it's time for a Death Battle!

Fight

Detroit

In the chaotic city of Detroit, the entire street is in a warzone as police and criminals are locked in a gun fight against each other.

BANG!!! BANG!!! BANG!!!

Policewoman: ARGHHH!!!

A policewoman screams out as she slides back behind a car, shielding herself as a bunch of gang members began closing in on her.

However, right at that moment, several blasts of lightning crackles across the street.

CRACK!!! THOOM!!!

The policewoman looks up, noticing blasts of electricity and wind blasting at the triad members, incapicitating them.

Up on the roof, there were sounds of blows striking across flesh and bones.

WHAM!!! BAM!!! POW!!!

Criminals: ARGHHHH!!!

Several criminals screams out as they were sent tumbling down the roof while a crack of lightning explodes across the surface.

BZZZZZTTT!!

The electrical charge incapitates the criminal gang as Black Lightning steps forward, tossing aside an unconscious criminal.

Just then, Black Lightning notices a hijacked helicopter spinning around uncontrollably in the air.

As he prepares to take it on, all of a sudden, the helicopter went off in a massive explosion.

KABOOM!!!

Black Lightning: What the?!

Black Lightning watches as a figure floats down from the burning inferno, a tall woman with long wavy white hair, African in origin closing in onto him.

Black Lightning then says to her.

Black Lightning: Lady, did anyone ever told you not to kill these people?

Storm: These people were about to destroy that orphanage near by, I had no choice

Black Lightning: That's no excuse, we are better than this!

Both Storm and Black Lightning faces off each other as Storm says.

Storm: I certainly wish we didn't have to come to this but I have no choice.

Announcer: Fight!

<Cue: Citrus by GARNIDELIA>

CRACK!!! THOOM!!!

Lightning crackles down from the sky as Storm unleashes them at Black Lightning.

Black Lightning rolls across the floor, dodging two shots of lightning only to get struck by one.

BZZZTTT!!!

Black Lightning: ARGHHHHH!!!

Despite getting struck by lightning, the attack however, simply charges up the vigilante before he fires a blast of lightning back at Storm.

Storm points her hand out, firing a blast of lightning, causing both electrical bolts to clash.

BZZZZTTTT!!!

However, using the surge of the electrical current, Black Lightning pushes back, causing his electrical blast to overpower Storm before striking her.

CRACK!!! THOOM!!!

Storm: ARGHHHHH!!!

Storm screams out in agony as she was sent crashing into the wall of a nearby building.

CRASH!!!

BZZZTTTT!!!

Black Lightning fires a small blast of lightning as he flies towards Storm who pushes herself up.

Storm: Interesting, you can absorb lightning.

Black Lightning: That's not all I can do lady.

Black Lightning uses his electricity to lift up several cars before throwing them at Storm who swerves her body, dodging the projectiles before putting her hands out, unleashing a typhoon.

Storm: Typhoon!

WHOOSH!!!

Black Lightning: WHOAAAA!!!

Black Lightning screams out as he was sent flying into the air.

Black Lightning then transforms himself into electricity, flying through the coils of wires flying in the air before moving towards Ororo.

Before the X-Men can react, Black Lightning reappears in front of her, shocking her just as he throws a punch, striking into her.

WHAM!!!

Storm: ARGHHHHHH!!!

As Storm staggers back in the air, Black Lightning slams his knee into her gut.

BAM!!!

Black Lightning then attacks her with several punches.

WHAM!!! BAM!!! POW!!!

Before he could throw one last punch, Storm swings her hand out, parrying the last blow before charging her hands out with electricity.

BZZZZT!!!

Storm: HUAGHH!!!

Storm throws one powerful electrical punch, striking Black Lightning square in the face before sending him crashing into a building

CRASH!!!

Angered, Black Lightning puts his hands out, absorbing electricity from the nearby lamp posts before exploding in an electric spark.

BZZZTTT!!!

Black Lightning then flies forward, throwing a powerful uppercut right into Storm.

WHAM!!!

As Storm flies up in the air, Black Lightning conjures a giant hand construct out of electricity, letting it rotate around before grabbing onto Storm, sending the mutant crashing into the ground, creating a massive explosion.

KABOOM!!!

Black Lightning hovers across the sky, searching for any signs of Storm when all of a sudden, a massive blast of wind blows upwards, sending the blazing inferno moving right towards the metahuman.

FWOOSH!!!

Black Lightning: ARGHHHHH!!!

Black Lightning screams in agony as he felt the fire charring him.

Right at that moment, Black Lightning heard the sound of thunder from above, causing him to look up.

Dark clouds envelops the city, followed by a mass downpour of rain.

Black Lightning lands on the roof of a building, feeling the water dousing the flames on his suit but at the same time, weakening his electrical powers.

Storm rose from the smoke, her eyes glowing white as questions Black Lightning.

Storm: Had enough?

Although at a disadvantage, Black Lightning isn't willing to give up.

Black Lightning: Hardly.

Charging up electricity from a generator, Black Lightning transforms himself into electricity itself, flying up towards Storm.

BZZZZZTTTT!!!

Storm puts her hand out, turning the rainwater into hail in an attempt to attack Black Lightning only for the projectiles to go through the corporeal form of Black Lightning.

Black Lightning closes in before electrocuting Storm in his electricity form.

BZZZZTTTT!!!

Storm: Ngn!

Storm leans forward, listening as Black Lightning questions her.

Black Lightning: Face it, you can't hurt me in this form.

Storm however, smirks.

As Black Lightning closes in to electrocute Storm one more time, however, right at that moment, Storm puts out her hand, absorbing Black Lightning into her.

BZZZZTTTT!!!

Storm: One problem sunshine. Lightning is just one of the things I can control. You have just sealed your fate!

Storm throws Black Lightning down onto the ground in the form of a flash of lightning followed by the sound of thunder.

CRACK!!! THOOM!!!

Storm looks down, staring at Black Lightning who is now completely dazed by the attack.

Storm: Now this is the end for you!

Storm then unleashes a powerful blizzard, freezing Black Lightning in his place.

Storm then swoops down, her hands crackle with electricity and with one final blast, she causes the frozen body of Black Lightning to explode.

BOOM!!!

Frozen shards of Black Lightning scatter across the floor as Storm stares at the now deceased hero, saying with a tone of regret

Storm: I'm sorry.

With that, Storm flies off to aid the people in the aftermath of the battle.

Storm then helps an injured Luz Noceda who seemed to have noticed the now dead Black Lightning.

KO!

<Cue: Compound I Love You by Jincheng Zhang>

Megumi: Geez, and you would think those two would put aside their differences and just save the city together.

Toomi: With their powers of electrokinesis, this certainly makes this an interesting matchup as Black Lightning's ability to absorb electricity makes him impervious to Storm's electrical powers.

Sachi: But that however doesn't make him impervious to Storm's various other means of battle, and holding the ability to control the elements like wind and water gives her the versatility advantage to keep Jefferson at bay.

Megumi: Black Lightning being trained by Batman may give him the hand to hand advantage except that Storm has her fair share of hand to hand combat, defeating Callisto and then besting Cyclops without her powers.

Toomi: Both their electrical powers can be said to be equal as both Black Lightning and Storm were capable of hurting beings as strong as Superman and The Hulk except that despite those feats, Black Lightning is not capable of defeating a Kryptonian in battle.

Sachi: While Storm though has never beaten the Hulk in a fight has taken on a being like Polaris who did used her powers to punch through Earth's crust, all the way to the planet's core. Making her several thousand times stronger than Black Lightning.

Megumi: And do we also have to mention that out of the two, one of them can create terraforming storms while the other has never done anything like her?

Toomi: Even if we were to talk about Black Lightning's intangibility in his electric form, it's advantage in dodging Storm's physical attacks is heavily countered by the fact he is still electricity, the very thing Storm herself can control. So if you think about it, there's no stopping Storm from just forcing Jefferson back into his human form and then finishing him off from there.

Sachi: And freezing him in that fight was only one of the many ways Storm can beat him, there's also sucking the oxygen out of his lungs or just keep raining down on him to neutralise his electrical powers or simply using her lightning to just destroy him right there.

Toomi: Holding the versatility and power advantage along with the many means of finishing off this fight, Storm holds all means to put this fight to the end.

Megumi: This sure was one stormy matchup with a thunderous end

Sachi: The winner is Storm

Storm: As long as nature is my ally, I will never lose.

Toomi: Hey guys, thank you so much for checking out our battle in What if Battles 2.

Sachi: If you want more content like this, don't forget to add this in your library and comment if you have any idea for a fight.

Megumi: Until then, next time on What if Battles...
